I really like this place for fish and chips. Been coming her since I moved to Livermore 20 years ago. Different owners now but still good fish. Only thing I don't like is the soda tastes like off brand soda. Not real coke or sprite. Also it's usually pretty hot in there. Came here for the first time last week after hearing it was a place a friend of mine enjoys. Service was neither friendly, nor unfriendly. More like indifferent. The food was hot and fresh. We had the fried fish, clams, oysters and shrimp along with the chips. The fish didn't taste much like anything since there was no salt or any other seasoning. I enjoyed the fried oysters. My hubby pretty much liked everything but the fries/chips. Decor was outdated but I didn't mind it since everything looked clean. We stumbled into this tiny little restaurant that serves the best fish and chips. Don't go there for the decor, go there for the food. I really enjoyed my meal, which wasn't greasy or soggy. Nothing goes better with fish and chips than a beer and they have a wide selection of brews. I recommend it with two thumbs up. read more

So my family and I went here for dinner tonight despite the low ratings because we thought since it was under new ownership the reviews might be old - well nope they are not:( I am not a big fish & chips person so I don't really have anything to compare it to but my husband had been craving fish & chips for a week sooooo we ended up here. I was eating my fish thinking it is a little greasy and it didn't have any flavor (however the fish was white and no bones). Just as I was thinking the fish didn't have any flavor my husband spoke up and said it was flavorless. I gave him my second piece of fish and it was all brown fish. Hubby couldn't eat it because it was really greasy and translucent???? Huh??? Our son had the chicken strips - very good. Not greasy at all and had a nice peppery flavor. He ate all of them! I only ate half my food but 5 minutes later I wasn't feeling well and my mouth feels coated in grease! I don't think we will be coming back. The young man at the counter was very nice!!! read more

This place is honestly a hole in the wall. Amazing! I work in Livermore and almost once a week I gotta hit this spot on my break. The food come out fast, the staff is soo nice and not to mention the menu is great. I've tried a decent amount of thing me and have yet to be disappointed! I visited Louise's Fish & Chips for the first time this past Wednesday. I was referred there by a coworker. I was in the area, so I picked up some to go to have at home for dinner. All I can say is that the first bite made me taste buds get up and start break-dancing! It was fabulous. Tasty, delectable, and one could taste the freshness of the fish. The batter was just right, the filets tender and moist. So, I went there the next day and had it again for lunch. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is a fish lover. It is by far some of the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. and I must add that the owner is such a very nice, kind, sweet person. Wanted fish and chips, this is the restaurant that Google gave in search. First of, there was no sign or indication where to order. I had to ask (btw a very sad depressed looking young lady) if this is where we order and do we just pick a seat. Order arrived and it looked good, but looks can be deceiving. Had to pick up some auto parts at Kragen last night, so I decided to stop in for a bite to eat since it was convenient. I had seen this place in the past, and had wanted to try it for quite some time. I ordered the fish & chips and a Pale Ale, the place was empty at 7pm. I initially placed my order to go, but then I reconsidered since batter fried fish typically doesn't travel well and I wanted to taste it fresh. When my order was ready, I was pleasantly surprised to see a 3 piece waiting for me at the counter (the std is 2 pc). They included a bottle of tartar and ketchup on my tray, and they have a bottle of malt vinegar on the table. The food was hott, which is a good thing. The fries were pretty generic, but good. The fish was not too heavily battered, but the filets were a bit thinner than I was hoping for. The taste was pretty good, nothing spectacular, it could have used a bit of seasoning prior to the fry to kick it up a notch. Will I return, yeah probably. read more

Stopped by on my lunch hour in a hurry. My total was a little over $7 for fries and two pieces of fish (which are pretty good size). The lady at counter was polite and working hard. Food was okay. Vinegar and tartar helped. Tasted a little bland, nothing a lil salt won't fix-to go along with all that grease. Have gone here periodically thru the years. And I have to admit I like the food - it isnt heavy tasting or greasy. Now, of course, I would prefer if they served Coke.......but we went tonight and they were about as busy as usual. We were the 3d one in line. And we waited for our food. Quite a few people came in behind us....and all of a sudden, most of them were getting their food. Granted, a few of them were pick up orders. But we did notice one person who apparently is a regular there - came in quite a bit after us and got her food. So we questioned - and were told she called in her order - which was a lie. Becuase I heard her placing her order. After a second complaint, all of a sudden our food was ready. As were the people sitting nearby that had only been there for less than 10 minutes (it had been a 1/2 hour for us) - and the two people who came in after them! As we were eating, a group of 3 came in, ordered, were immediately given their drinks (ours came with our food) and minutes after they had walked back to the table and sat down they were served their food. You know, all it takes is an "oops, we must have messed up, we are really sorry" and this kind of review wouldnt be written. But when you get bad service - lied to about the order that food was served - and saw other people getting served immediately.....that restaurant is not worth returning to! read more

It's fish and chips...and I love it. It's crispy and greasy and salty and if you like it extra crispy like me...just ask. Are the workers going to treat you like you are the most important person to ever walk into their store and ask about your family?...no! What they are going to do is be courteous and respectful and keep the place clean and serve you a nice, hot, well portioned serving of fish and chips at a fair price. The fish is honestly some of the best battered fish I've ever had. The breading is perfectly proportioned, crispy with juicy fish inside. The fries are regular fries, nothing special. The chicken is pretty good too, with a crispy peppery breading, but nothing compared to the fish. read more

Just terrible - no flavor and skimpy portions. No matter how much vinegar I put on the fish, it didn't have any vinegar taste. Didn't seem worth the $13 for the smallest portion of clam strips, three very small fish strips, and cheapo frozen fries. Small cokes too. read more

Louise's Fish & Chips is Amazing! Always so fresh and crisp and not greasy. They give large portions. Both The Crown in Danville and the fish n chips in Dublin closed down. I'm so happy I found Louise's it's a bit further drive for me but so worth it and better than the others that closed down. read more

I used to go this restaurant once or twice in a month for about two years due to my job. I sometimes want to eat fish besides sandwiches or Chinese food. But I couldn't find any fish and chips restaurant around this area so I used to go to this restaurant. Also what I liked about here was, they used to cook bigger fish softer and less batter so felt less oily. I noticed the owner was changed and their fish get smaller and thinner, more batter and over cooked, also chips are oily and softer. When I was there last month, they changed different chips, thinner and crispier, and I liked it. The new boy who was cooking cooked not bad and he was nice to all of the customers so I felt good too. But when I went there yesterday after work, they changed chips to the previous one, thicker but softer and felt more oil stacked on outside. And a woman who cooked my fish cooked with too much batter and over cooked. I was really disappointed about all the changes and she talked too much something I cannot understand...
