Ham and turkey sandwich with American cheese
    Kit T.

Lovebirds is a place for light and refreshing sandwiches. I often ordered their sandwiches for lunch to go and they always hit the spot. So far I have tried: Red & green- the veggie sandwich, something I don't usually go for but this changed my mind and I would often go back to it if I want a light lunch. Chicken salad sandwich- pair so well with the grapes in the sandwich. The sandwich is a little smaller than the others. Turkey and ham sandwich- an original and satisfying sandwich, can't go wrong with it. Vermont turkey- I never had apples in my sandwiches before but it ends a nice crunch and goes with the mustard and turkey. Lovebirds also offer salads, soup, pastries and coffee.

Tuna with avocado and pepper jack on pumpernickel bread. I think it's called Hank's Favorite Sandwich.

Haven't been here in about five years. Was really craving a tuna sandwich so I made the trip over. Was a little disappointed in the sandwich itself, as you can see in the picture they've really went down on portion size. We got here around 12:30ish, the place was empty which I was surprised by, but they had a lot of go orders coming over the phone. Same employees are still there. That was nice to see. Sandwich tasted great, it was just smaller than the way it used to be. Looking at the menu I see they now offer breakfast burritos and people were ordering them at lunchtime so that's good to know.

Amazing hidden spot, recommended to me by a coworker, I finally managed to get around to check it out and was totally blown away. Very small cozy spot with great service and atmosphere. Huge selection of items, I went with hanks favorite on egg bread, an amp up smoothie, and the soup of the day, which was chicken noodle soup. Everything was amazing and the soup was so wonderful I regret not getting more. I highly recommend trying this place out.

Although Lovebirds Cafe has been here for a very long time, I never stopped by until now. I ordered a to go and really liked their Asian Chicken Salad so I'm back again picking up another to go order in the morning when they open. I ordered Asian Chicken Salad, Hank's Favorite Sandwich (regular size) and Iced Chai Latte via Yelp app. I found street parking right in front of the cafe. The gentleman who helped me is friendly. He even gave me a take out menu and told me it's cheaper to call in and order vs. order on Yelp app. I ended up liking Hank's Favorite Sandwich a lot! I can't wait to stop by again and will try other items they offer on the menu.

Been getting their Hank's Favorite for years now, which is essentially a tuna salad BLT with avocado. I usually order it with the egg bread which is like a light and fluffy white bread. It really gives the sandwich a homey type of vibe. They also have a wide variety of baked goods to choose from, but the cookies are really something special. They've got a wonderful chew and have been consistently delicious every single time. The only thing is that the service isn't as good as it used to be which is why this is review is a 4 star, but I believe that's something that can be easily remedied. Ultimately, they make great sandwiches and I'm really happy they're still in business even after covid. I have yet to return, but I have continued to recommend this place to people when they're craving a sandwich that isn't from a franchise. Gotta support the small businesses!

WOW!! After hearing about this spot SOOO much from coworkers, I finally had the time to get down there! Paul helped me a ton by telling me where to put my umbrella and where the menu was. As I gave my order, o found out later that the lady taking my order and ringing me up was the owner! That's quite rare in my experience! I got the Turkey Apple with added red onions and a Veggie sandwich with avocado and onions. I highly recommend the Turkey!! It's excellent and beautifully composed with lovely textures and flavors!! The veggie sandwich is every vegetarian dream party!! I'm soo impressed, I want more!!

First time trying this place and I chose the turkey panini as the first sandwich to try. It was really delicious and clean. I didn't get any sides but I did try their cookies and they're also very tasty.

Love this place! Gives small town vibes for sure. Paul, who's been working here as long as I can remember, is super awesome and helpful. Great customer service. And the sandwiches are sooo unbeatably delicious! I skipped a sandwich this morning for one of their delicious smoothies -- the Super Weight Gainer. Will always and forever support this women-owned business!

Extremely friendly service and inviting. Grew up with this place just haven't been here since the 90's. Always great food and I'm glad I get to relive my childhood memories here. Very quiet for now, I'm here before the lunch rush. Extremely clean. Highly recommend.

    French Connection Sandwich
    May W.

Place is located behind of Gen's KBBQ and the parking lot structure. It's easy to miss because their exterior doesn't have any posters or hours listed, but you can go in! Food: For sandwiches you choose which sandwich you want to go with, type of bread, and if you want it toasted (bread, meat and cheese). French connection with French Roll makes it a thick sandwich. This sandwich will make you feel full. I would recommend getting the French Bread you like to have more meat ratio in your sandwich. Cheese was nicely toasted with the bread and meat so it melted in your mouth. Amp juice (Pineapple, strawberry, ginger, apple, mango, lemongrass, melon) had a smoothie texture than a liquid juice. It was an refreshing drink, but I wished it was somewhat slightly chilled to drink during spring/summer. Wild Alaskan salmon sandwich with Seven Grain bread was portioned well between the smoked salmon, red onion, tomato, caper, and cream cheese. Would definitely, recommend getting this if you want a light filling meal. This is such a staple and one of their popular items to order at Lovebirds!

    This is NOT a panini

    $16 for a plain/boring sandwich - it was listed as a panini & it's definitely not that.

Hank's Favorite Sandwich (tuna salad, bacon, avo)

This spot has been here long ago when I was a highschooler at AHS, and I never even tried it until just this recent trip. I've heard of their name for all these years but never even visited! That said, I stopped by in the morning for some coffee and a sandwich before a drive to LAX and it was a great choice. They serve your sandwiches with your choice of bread, and I thought half was enough to just be satisfied. Went with Hank's Favorite on ciabatta bread / which is a tuna sandwich with bacon, avocado, lettuce and tomato. Very tasty. Not pictured was a large latte. Very big and helped kick start the day with plenty of caffeine! They are super popular and I saw a guy come pick up 3-4 cases worth of catered orders. Would recommend as a sandwich spot in the area!

The guy who must be the owner , not sure. He's the guy with the glasses . He always has a great attitude. Has the best customer service voice and attention to the customers. I come here once in awhile. I love this place, and it's the town of Alhambra /near Monterey park. Got this and another sandwich but I already ate that one. Anyways come here for the food and the service and you will be satisfied! No doubt . Shout out to the guy in the glasses. Need to get his name.

Hubby and I shared the crème brûlée pancake and an espresso smoothie, and both were delicious! I also really liked that the sauces weren't overwhelmingly sweet, so the dessert didn't feel heavy or sugary. I arrived in Alhambra one Sunday afternoon with the intention to hit 4 food spots to redeem free offers. They are part of the 24 participating restaurants in the food passport. I only got to two places and Popping Yolk Cafe (PYC) was one of them. PYC was number 6th stamp in my food passport! Free parking was easy at the Mosaic Parking Structure (4 hours limit). Very short walk from parking to restaurant. First time at PYC. I was lucky to get here thirty minutes prior to closing time. They specialize in breakfast and brunch only. Their free passport offer is 1 Benedict Entree or 1 French Toast Entree. Dine in only and no substitutions. Thanks PYC! Interior space was quite nice and vibey. Tables were clean. Ambiance was relaxing and cozy. Love the beautiful yellow decor! Plenty of inside seating with no exterior seating. Mia was the young lady staff who welcomed me with a friendly greeting and took my order. She was super nice, patient, and helpful. Other staff members were cordial and attentive. Thanks Mia and All! WOW, what a super amazing free food offer! I didn't hesitate and got the Avocado Benedict. Both eggs were perfectly poached. Avocado was just ripe. Ham slices were thick and tasty. Hollandaise sauce was rich and buttery with a bit of tangy taste. Just one small gripe, the english muffin did not appear to have been toasted. It was tough to cut through. Other than that, it was a fantastic benedict entree for a first timer like myself. I was feeling hungry so I also got an order of Ube French Toast and one Mango Green Tea (refillable). Another WOW, delicious house ube filling in a deep-fried toast topped with semi-sweet coconut flakes and fresh blueberries along with a drizzle of maple syrup and condensed milk. VERY YUMMY! This one is a winner! Mango green tea had deep tropical and tea flavors... nice drink! Menu has a great variety of egg benedicts and crunchy french toasts along with sandwiches, omelettes, burgers, crepes, waffles, pancakes, salad, and snacks. Prices were reasonable for the huge portions. Highly recommend! Love to return to try their other specialty breakfast and brunch items. I just need to get here early. Btw, besides Alhambra, they have two other locations... Pasadena and Hacienda Heights.

Worth the wait! I loved the variety of brunch dishes, some combinations that were rather unique and I hadn't seen before like a kimchi butter fried chicken eggs benedict. The service was good as well, they came and refilled waters often. Our lychee sangria was pretty sweet but was really refreshing in this heat. Not too loud so you can have a nice chat with friends. There is free 4 hour parking in Lot 2 Parking Garage across the street.

I liked the pics on Yelp and so finally got to try it for brunch this week, and boy is this place GOOD! Parking can be a drag even on a weekday mid-morning despite there being a good amount of parking spots on the entire block. That was a hassle. Once I found something, I went into the place, which is a small breakfast joint - not divey or anything, but also not particularly decorated. Didn't really matter though. The star for me were the pancakes. I got the blueberry pancakes, a side of bacon, a side of their breakfast potatoes, and a glass of fresh lemonade. The lemonade was good and clearly made fresh in-house, I think. The bacon was good, but bacon is always good. The potatoes were nicely seasoned, which was good because lately I've tried way too many breakfast places with bland, sad potatoes. Not here. The pancakes were amazing. They are super fresh and fluffy and served with an amazing cookie butter syrup. It may sound sweet, but it's not overly so. I honestly think these are some of the best pancakes I've had in many years in all of Los Angeles. They were honestly that good. And, I don't usually rave about pancakes very often. Service was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The place was doing a good amount of business considering I went when most people should be in school or work and too early for lunch.
