What a gem on 116 Roosevelt Street in downtown Phoenix! Quick reasonably priced gourmet food we tried the chicken, shrimp, and vegetable dumplings with coconut milk steamed lemongrass rice and yakisoba sesame noodles. The service and the convenience of this place is amazing! I've been going here since they opened. My only complaint is since I have been going for a while. I've noticed the dumplings to feel kinda raw and not fully cooked all the way through. Which makes me really sad bc I truly love it. Delicious and fast service. They offer to explain the ordering process for you if you're new to this sort of thing. The food here is not only tasty but aesthetically pleasing. The dumplings are filling and the rice and noodles are a great pairing (you need to get both). This is a nice casual eat and you get your food really quickly. There is no indoor seating. I got veggie dumplings with rice and noodles, and it lasted me 2 meals. The staff is nice too. read more

Stopped by to grab a bite. The food was okay, i don't think the dumplings were fresh and the noodles were unfortunately the bottom of the pot so it was very dry and hard to chew. The concept is very cute and inexpensive for a quick meal. read more

I very much enjoyed everything about Lovebite. While they are not the best dumplings i've ever had, for a fast food sort of restaurant my meal was delicious. The concept in general is really cool and unique, really glad they opened up in downtown Phoenix. The ambiance and packaging is so cute. The service is kind and inviting. I had the veggie dumplings over rice, and got all three sauces. The noodles were super yummy, and the dumplings were great as well. I do recommend getting all 3 sauces as they do go a bit light and I don't think it would have been nearly as good without all of them. The only thing I would suggest is making the dumplings fresh, although I understand that it is more of a fast food joint. Amazing concept that is incredibly well executed! You can't find a better deal for this much food in this area. I was able to try the chicken and noodles (with sriracha and kewpie) as well as the rice and pork (yuzu soy sauce). The pink rice is amazing and the noodles were great. The flavors and textures are great, the sauce is unbelievable, and the environment is so fun. Don't forget to ask about how to use the fork/chopsticks!! read more

Solid 4. I like the efficiency of the set up - walk in, get your food, go outside ... The food was fine. They were low on what was ready so I got the shrimp and veggie on greens with the soy. But beware! The sauce will leak from the super cute boxes - perhaps having a to-go container for the sauce if serving on greens? I like the price for what we get in this area, as well. Definitely liked this place when I stopped in with my friends on a Saturday night. The concept is great. Quick, easy, flavorful. The girls behind the counter were friendly and walked us through how to order. I got the last of the noodles before a fresh batch Came out. So I'll definitely want to go back to get the fresh ones. Three of us were in town for work and my one coworker wanted noodles. She found Lovesack and we trusted her instinct. The place is indeed small but that's part of the charm, imo. They provide three bases (rice, greens, noodles), four dumplings (pork, chicken, shrimp, vegetarian), and three sauces (yuzu soy, sriracha, and kewpie). I had the noodles, two pork and three chicken dumplings with the soy sauce. The noodles were small, curly, and multi-colored and delicious. The dumplings were fantastic. I'm no expert but the chicken and pork tasted similar - not a problem to my mouth and belly! Lovesack carries a variety of flavored waters that are slightly carbonated; it paired nicely with the meal. The customer service was good - the young ladies were friendly and asked if we had questions, which they answered. The next time I'm back in the Phoenix area I hope to revisit. Apparently this establishment is being sued by Lovesac, the folks who make furniture. I think that sucks and I hope someone local can step in and help these entrepreneurs. read more

So went there yesterday and they were out of rice and noodles. Wait, what? That's like McDonalds being out of hamburgers and fries. So went back today and they had rice and noodles, just no chicken. This is not good. And the owner wasn't there last night when we went nor today. Just some girls running the business. The food we got was really good BUT people are going to give it a bad reputation if you continue to always be out of your food. I wanted this place to be good, but it was a huge disappointment. We got cold flavorless noodles. The dumplings were hot, but nothing special. I would expect a dumpling place to have really good handmade dumplings. These just seemed to be a frozen variety of dumplings. Their kitchen obviously isn't large enough to really prepare food other than just reheating it. Sauces were meh. Just regular soy sauce and sriracha (didn't try the kewpie). Overall, it felt very amateurish. The setup didn't seem like that of someone with any restaurant experience. A curtain leading to the "kitchen"?! Gross. Props on the packaging though. So cool! it's a real small place, but the decorations and takeout boxes are the cutest! The girls that helped me with my order were super sweet and friendly-- my boyfriend and I shared one box and it was a good amount, especially for the price! We got the pink rice and tried one of the each of the gyoza. The rice is seriously delicious, and they give you a lot of it!! We tried the hibiscus and black tea-- they come without any sweetener as a heads up :) the hibiscus tea was subtle and refreshing and my boyfriend (who isn't a tea drinker) liked it! The Boas were good, but the dough was a little thicker than I'm used to. So I felt full rather quickly! The fried rice however, 10/10 NO NOTES!!! Best fried rice I think I've ever had!! Totally worth the drive. Will be back for sure!!

Twice we were offered other people's food, so there is a need to update POS systems or front of house management. The cheese puffs are very good. The orange chicken was more sweet than spicy.No presentation, just put on a plate and take it out. I felt like I was at someone's home, rather than a restaurant. Maybe that is the vibe they are going for. The dish was more like opening up a bag of chicken fingers then dump a sweet orange sauce. If anyone has had a frozen orange chicken meal,made by a company that is famous for their pies. A meal that can be purchased at your local grocery store...well, that is close to what we are talking about. It came out without any serving utensil. WTH? The Mongolian beef was more like pot roast and fatty. It certainly was not what I would consider spicy. Ambiance is VERY casual. There are regulars and they seem to be like family, so that is cool, once you have been accepted in the circle of trust. Maybe I am spoiled, because we tend to get very good Chinese in Las Vegas, due to the "Whales" coming in to gamble. Maybe this considered fabulous for Scottsdale, but certainly not what I was raised to expect. Now, it has been few weeks since my nephew and I tried this place. I wanted to let it breathe before posting "hot". To be fair. We were offered some dumplings to apologize for the wait. We declined, because I was afraid of what they may taste like. I asked for the check and the lady resisted saying that we hardly touched the food and she did not want to charge. This also was nice, but my ENTIRE working life has been in the hospitality/customer service/food service industry. They have bills to pay. They prepared the meal. They provided the service. They deserved to be paid. She apologized once again and said that they were using a new cook. I thought that I might be unusually over-critical however, my nephew, who resembles a trash compactor went away saying that there would be way he would ever get food from there. I wish this place well. Maybe there needs to be a better front of house/back of house dynamic. I can think of many things that would help.

I would've loved less dough, more soup, overall bigger portion size (larger dumplings or more of them). Otherwise, the soup itself was tasty. We also ordered the 14. Chongqing Fried Spicy Chicken $13.95, which was a platter of boneless chicken and peppers. I was very impressed with the crisp exterior but soft/juicy interior of the chicken. I'm not usually a spice person, but I was left feeling tingly but not in pain and not numb. Overall I found Heng's Kitchen to be disproportionately pricey given the taste and portion sizes. I'm pretty critical and discerning about my XLB, and this place did not totally satisfy my craving, although I was pleasantly surprised about the chicken.
