Since I have been posting all the places I took my brother on spring break, I feel I should mention we went for dim sum at Lulu's! We were in for an early lunch Sunday with that spring forward nonsense. And we loved picking things from the steamer cart and others. The flavors are awesome as are the textures. Different dumplings for different things and I got a few pics but missed others. I find the carts are great for meeting hunger where it is -- quick and can order as you eat rather than order all up front. Going with a bigger group is lots of fun for all the things you can try but even with just two of us a range of small plates really hits the spot. The cart folks check in often til you say no more for a while but appreciate that the owner also checks in.

Lulu is a Chinese restaurant that we tried recently having moved near by. There is parking available. The restaurant with its linen table cloths and decor remind me of those quaint Chinese restaurants back home in Chicago's China town. My husband ordered the chow fung and I ordered the seafood with vegetables every thing was served hot and delicious I even tried the dim sum. Food is good here service is efficient and wait staff polite we will return

Heads up, there are two Lulu's locations, so double check before you go. This was my first time, and it took me right back to childhood memories of Chinese buffet restaurants! The interior has that same authentic, nostalgic decor. The menu is on the pricier side with a lot of options, so take your time looking through it. We got garlic green beans and a garlic beef dish, both good. Our server was an older white gentleman who spoke and wrote Chinese which was really cool. The space is spacious, and it's not as modern as the newer Del Mar spots, it's still an authentic well established. Parking can get tight when it's busy, but we went during a slow time and had no issues. Would definitely come back with friends.

Lulu's is one of my new favorites! I can't believe it took me to long to finally try it. The food is delicious. The service is fast. The prices are reasonable. We had the egg drop soup, lo mein, general tso's chicken, and a beef dish (I forgot the name).. but definitely get the Lo Mein! It was soooo good!

I came here a lot. I mean a lot. I forgot taking food pics because I was busy explaining all the different food to my friends. Overall I like this place. The food are always good to me. Though I heard some comments From my other friends before but I only had one incident in the past many years. I like to choose whatever I want from the carts and also request fresh made stuff. Since I sometimes stayed there over three hours, they never have problems. Other places they do not like you stay too long. Overall I like it and will come back.

In all my 33 years of living in St. Louis, I have always driven past this place but had never stopped in until my friend took me there. It's located on Olive in University City. We were sat down immediately and I cannot even begin to tell you the last time I had a good sit down Chinese food. I started with egg rolls and ordered orange chicken for my entree. I am a sucker for those egg rolls! I also ordered some hot tea. I forgot what my friend ordered but it had black beans in it! My orange chicken was delicious. Our service was top notch and I will be back!

So, I have been to LuLu's once before and decided I would never go back because the older Asian women seating people was SO Rude. But, now several years later, it's Christmas Day and the only restaurants open on Christmas Day are... Chinese restaurants so I decided to come to Chinatown in new city to have my choice of some of the best. I wanted to go to Wei Hong for Peking Duk but that restaurant was closed. Only the bakery was open so I had my 95-year-old mother with me and my wife and I needed something that I know was be suitable to both of them because my wife is picky and my mother mother is can't eat certain things that are spicy so I ended up at Lulu's and there were people out the door, but it was after 1 o'clock close to 130 and I knew lunch would be changing over and sure enough we receded and less than 10 minutes and as soon as we receded, the dim sum carts are going around and food was in your hands within five minutes of being seated, so that was wonderful. The older woman was not at the door looked like it might be her daughter. But I was blown away how they took care of people like I've not seen done before in a restaurant. The place was packed and they were turning tables like crazy and food was in your hands after being seated very quickly. Of the choices that we had the Singapore noodles were good not the best in town but good The other noodles were average we had roast duck, which was very good. Wontons were very good. Pat stickers were good. The fried shrimp was kind of disgusting. They fry it with the heads on which is OK but not for the girls in my table and because they just fried the whole shrimp they never cleaned them and they were very dirty so you were massive occurring the shrimp trying to pull a vein out pull the feet off take the head off. It would've been much more enjoyable if they just cooked them without the heads and tails and feet. I got some kind of pork that was it that was OK so I guess the reason I gave it a four instead of a three was because the service was on point and they were moving people through the system, and the prices were reasonable. .

If I could give less then one star I would This was honestly one of the most disappointing takeout meals I've had in a long time. The noodles we're dry, overcooked, and thrown into the container with no presentation at all. The noodles were burnt, stale and oily instead of fresh. The plain noodles and bok choy had almost no flavor, and the soup looked unappetizing with barely any ingredients. I ordered duck soup and only received broth with no duck I couldn't take food back because by the time I got my food and went home they close. Overall, the food looked rushed, low quality, and definitely not worth the money. I expected fresh, flavorful food and instead got something that felt like leftovers tossed in a box." The guy at the front was rude and made me feel like everything else he was doing was more important than taking my order

Came by for a dim sum brunch and had fun! There aren't too many dim sum places that still have the rolling carts with food that you can choose from, but Lu Lu still has them! This place has almost all the classics (was missing one of my favorites the day we went - taro puffs with pork inside): rice noodle rolls, egg tarts, bbq pork buns, pan fried lotus cakes, chicken feet, sticky rice wrapped with lotus leaves, fried pork with a mochi style exterior, and more. Today we also tried the pan fried pork dumplings and pan fried chive and shrimp dumplings which they cook fresh right next to your table after you order. Both had a great golden crust, but the chive dumplings didn't have much chives. The egg tart crust wasn't super flakey - I'd probably skip these and get them from a bakery instead. The taste of the food itself was good overall, especially for the area, but it's not the best I've ever had. I also like the chrysanthemum tea to go with the dim sum. It's best to order a variety of dishes off the carts and share them family style! Each of the larger tables has a spinning glass plate on it to make it easier to share the dishes. Service is straightforward and kind. The ambiance is casual, but you could dress up if you wanted. There's a parking lot on the side of the restaurant.

Lu Lu's is probably the best dim sum you can find in STL. I have been to this restaurant several times now, all on the weekends when they run their dim sum menu. The quality and quantity of food options heavilyyy depend on what time you go. It is highly recommended to go as early as possible during the day, as options become fairly limited once the lunch rush passes at noon. On my most recent trip there, we were able to get a seat right away when we went right after they opened at 10:30. The restaurant was completely full around the time we left at about 11:30. They had so many different options and I was even offered a bowl of congee, which is a staple in Chinese breakfasts. I would recommend that you do not jump the gun and grab everything you see right off the bat, because there are going to be some dishes that roll out that look later amazing, but you're already too full. This was true in my case as there were options of duck and other meats I would have grabbed in a heart beat if I wasn't already full. There's not really another restaurant like Lu Lu when it comes to sit down dim sum. The food arrives the minute you are sat, and you could be in and out easily under a hour. The service is always good as there are people constantly walking around making sure you have been able to try all the food options.

WOW. If you're looking for a space for a large party then this should be your go to! LuLu's is the epitome of tapas. Order whatever you want & they bring your food out in the middle of the table with a glass turner. The menu is large so it's a little over whelming but don't worry, you're sure to love whatever you pick! The food came out hot & quick which was one of my favorite party. The waitress & waiter were quick with keeping drinks full!! I definitely recommend.

Another good serving of dim sum and I was stuffed after our meal. TBH it's difficult for me to stop ordering as the goods go by on carts. Was super busy on Sunday 2/2/25, longest wait I have ever had since coming hear in 2010. 35 min and worth the wait. Pics included

Sole filet in Szechuan sauce, beef chow fun, sweet & sour chicken, Chinese broccoli with garlic.

TLDR: Good Food, But A Lot of Red Flags…read more I had been wanting to try Shabu Day for a while and finally made it out. The food was honestly really good -- but there is a lot this place needs to fix before I can fully recommend it. The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the smell. And not in a good way. It smelled like a sewer. Not what you want when you are about to sit down and eat. It lingered the entire time we were there and was really hard to get past. The front of the restaurant looks okay at first glance. But once you sit down you start noticing things. The tables are wobbly and clearly rigged up with makeshift fixes. Extension cords are running visibly across the floor which looks bad and feels unsafe. The menus and sauce bottles were sticky -- like they had not been wiped down in a long time. Little things like that add up fast. I caught a glimpse of the back of the house and it looked grimy and dirty. That is a problem at any restaurant, but especially at a place where you are cooking your own food right at the table. The staff were not very welcoming either. They were hard to find when you needed something and did not seem very interested in making sure you were having a good time. Now here is the thing -- the food was actually fresh and delicious. The broth was flavorful and the ingredients were good quality. That part genuinely impressed me. But for the price they are charging? The total package is just not there yet. Good food can only carry a restaurant so far. They need to clean things up -- literally -- before I come back. UPDATE: One more thing worth mentioning that I think is really important. Shabu Day is strictly all you can eat -- and that is the only option they offer. For most people that is fine. But for anyone with a medical condition that limits how much they can eat, this format is a serious problem. You are being charged full all you can eat prices for food you physically cannot consume in that quantity. That is not fair and it is not inclusive. A lot of restaurants in this space offer a la carte or smaller portion options for exactly this reason. Shabu Day should do the same. It is a simple change that would make a big difference for a lot of people and would show that they actually care about all of their customers -- not just the ones who can eat the most. Clean things up, fix the smell, train your staff to be more welcoming, and give people a fair way to order. The foundation is there. Now build on it.

A Great Hole-in-the-Wall Korean Spot…read more I was really in the mood for Korean food, and as Korean culture has become more mainstream, I've noticed that some Korean restaurants have started to feel a bit commercialized. As someone who cooks Korean food myself and spent time living in Korea, sometimes you just want a simple, authentic, no-frills spot that focuses on the food. Thankfully, Asian Kitchen Korean Cuisine, located at 8423 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO, delivered exactly that. I knew I was probably in the right place as soon as I walked in and was greeted by one of the owners, whose direct and no-nonsense personality reminded me of many family-run restaurants I've visited over the years. It gave the place a lot of character. I kept my order simple and went with the beef bulgogi, while my sister ordered the chicken bulgogi. Both came with rice and kimchi. We also shared an order of vegetable potstickers, which were fried perfectly. Everything was delicious. The food had a homemade quality that felt comforting and authentic. The bulgogi was flavorful, the kimchi was satisfying, and the potstickers were easily one of the highlights of the meal. We ordered everything to go, so unfortunately I didn't get any photos, but the food definitely spoke for itself. One thing to keep in mind is that there may be a bit of a wait, but that's because the food is prepared fresh. If you're willing to be patient, it's well worth it. Overall, if you're looking for solid Korean food in the St. Louis area and don't mind a straightforward, family-run atmosphere, Asian Kitchen is a great choice. 4 out of 5 stars.
