Don't waste your time at this Luby's location. The portions are incredibly small; yet they have the Audacity to increase their meal prices exponentially. It's a complete RIP-Off! If you have a staff complaint, Brad the manager is worthless and does not do anything to try and resolve your complaint. I'm surprise the food was pretty good. It was an easy process. Get your tray and pick out your meal. After ward you pay for what you have. It was like a cafeteria style. We got the turkey dressing and that was good. I also got the chopped steak. It wasn't as good. The service there was great. Definitely a place to come back when I don't know what I want to eat. I'd probably give this place a 3.5. Its ok, kind of wish it was a buffet haha, so you could get to try all of them, that'd make my rating like a 4 easily. They had alot of tasty looking main meat entrees dishes..Then I saw the biggest looking chicken fried steak i'd ever seen in my life haha... I asked for it of course.. thinking they'd probably chop it in half and give it to me.. but the good guy just slapped it all onto my plate. I wasn't really sure how the lubys system worked, so I asked and they just said I could get like 2 sides and a roll with it.. so I got the spinach and some squash casserole thing. Word of advice: if you want something to go, don't go to the to go counter. Counterintuitive, right? You HAVE to go through the serving line to make it "easier" for staff members who are on their personal cell phones texting and taking calls. The priority goes UBER orders then in person to go orders. Also, pack your patience to deal with attitude from cashiers and above all don't express an opinion cause you might get called a liar. I ate at this establishment on a Friday evening and besides the food being horrible the service matched. We got there around 6 and it was empty which being hungry wasn't necessarily a bad thing. The food on the line looked hot and decent. I got the salmon mac & cheese and fruit salad. When we got to the table we had to waive down someone to bring us napkins. When the restaurant was empty I would think it wouldn't be so hard getting service . There were two servers on their phones talking about their dating lives. When we ran out of drinks we visited the middle section where they had tea for refills for wait staff to refill. We were the fourth person that got up to refill our own drinks. The salmon was cold and the Mac and cheese was awful . I ended up just eating a few bites of the dessert and left. I really think this place is horrible. read more

I'm from Kansas and picked this place to eat at as my family and I are here for my sisters surgery. There were employees that were very rude, considering we've never been here we asked questions like... "what is that?" They responded or should I say attempted to respond under his breath, but said "damn these people make my head hurt" Not only was the employees rude, my fish along with two pieces of chicken were uncooked! For what it is, and going in with the right expectations, it's right on the mark. No frills - taking it back to the old school cafeteria type dining hall. The food is actually just mediocre, at best. It feels and tastes like what it is - cafeteria food. It reminds me of getting in line when I was in elementary school - same with the taste of the food. Desserts are usually pretty good. The portions are on the smaller end, but the LuAnn platter is iconic. Food is more on the bland side, in my opinion. Maybe I should try different entrees and sides. We went yesterday evening with my in-laws and I ordered the salmon patty LuAnn platter with a side of mashed potatoes & gravy and wild rice. Taste and presentation was a 3 out of 10. This location has undergone a facelift (exterior and signage) and some interior renovation. The older lady serving the meat only wears one glove. She will scratch her face and go back to serving food with the ungloved hand. This is a sanitary issue. I won't let her fix my meat. You'd think Luby's management would require her to use both gloves as everyone else on the serving line does. It's just gross, and a shame because this is one of the better Luby's. read more

Awhile back, I wrote about the ongoing Luby's vs. Furr's debate and proceeded to torch Furr's mercilessly and deservedly so. Again, I will publicly declare that I would rather pay $10 for one plate of Luby's food than 1 penny for an infinite amount of Furr(ball) slop. OK, I agree with Joe in that the idea of paying $10 bucks for a cafeteria meal is a little uncomfortable but if what Sonny says is true and the Pappas folks now run The Luby Show then it explains a lot. This is not exactly your grandpa's Luby's even though he and his cronies will be there when you arrive. I have noticed a real improvement in the quality of the food and selections available. Heck, they have healthy baked selections in addition to chicken fried steak, mac and cheese, and creamed corn. The only thing that remains cafeteria is the style of selecting your own dishes and I never have seen a problem with total control like that. Luby's even still offers the Lou Ann platter for smaller appetites (even though I still giggle and think of King of the Hill every time someone orders one.). Beyond this, Luby's has moved fast and furious into the 21st Century. The addition of servers is a nice touch as they do a great job of refilling beverages, bringing condiments, etc. My only beef with Luby's is that they need to do a better job of hiding the pies. I think I'm doing good with my baked chicken and new potatoes and then I hit the end of the line and see the biggest , creamiest slice of pie perched at my eye level. I practically turn into one of those old-time cartoon characters whose lid blows off and eyes go "Ah-ooh-gah". So Luby's do us all a favor and place the dessert behind the creamed spinach and lima beans where none of us will find it. read more

Love Luby's!!! A friend and I use to go here several times weekly while in college and would each get the Lou Anne platter for lunch (1/2 entree, 2 veggies, and bread) and then sit in the cafeteria and study through their mid afternoon cleaning time when they would clean the tables and vacuum before the dinner crowd came. The ladies would still come by and fill our tea as we sat there and studied, even though technically the place was closed. What a great deal, and the staff was so nice to a couple of broke college kids, occasionally bringing us free food - like dessert! Now, I occasionally stop by when there is a large group of us with kids (everyone can choose what they want) or when I want liver and onions. They have good fried liver and onions and it is a dish I've never managed to cook well without drying out the liver (probably because I don't eat it often enough to get good at it). I still get the Lou Anne platter - it is just enough food and the price is nice! Thanks Luby's!!! 5 stars for good food at a good price and for taking pity on a few hungry college kids! read more

So trying to eat healthy, Diana suggested this place for lunch and they offer quite a bit of healthy options ranging from leafy salads to baked fish. I actually had the baked fish and it was delicious. It actually had some kind of breaded topping on it which kind of gave it a mayo type of flavor, but it was good. They do offer other varieies of food so I'd recommend it if you're into paying close to $10 for cafeteria food. read more

We took my mother-in-law for Valentine's day to this Luby's cafeteria and it was actually pretty good! My mother-in-law is somewhat of a picky eater. Things have to be a certain way...the location has to be clean...the people serving have to not look like they've just walked out of a zombie movie...etc. I'm glad to report that not only was my mother-in-law happy with the selection of food choices here, she commented on the friendliness of the servers and the cleanliness of the location. This is a great cafeteria style lunch spot. Even during peak lunch times, the line moves fast, there are so many reasonably priced lunch options and they have healthier faire as well. I had the balsamic chicken over polenta which was very tasty. I heard other diners talking about the chicken fried chicken- that looked yummy. My husband, my sister and I frequent this Luby's location often. For tha most part the food is always pretty good (especially around lunch time). I ALWAYs get fried fish. But they are very selfish with tha portion of salad they give. I ALWAYS have to ask for more lettuce. I really like lettuce so, I do want to add many other topping. The salad servers are always rude. Well.. I hate to be the Killjoy, but Luby's didn't rock my socks off like it seems to have done for everyone else. I got the chicken mushroom madeira or something like that, eggplant Parmesan (its a side), mac and cheese, and a slice of chocolate cream pie. My dining companion got chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, corn and we shared a twice baked potato. The chicken was OK, the mac and cheese was good, the eggplant was surprisingly good, the twice baked potato was not so good, the rolls - also not so good, the corn was chewy and the chicken fried steak wasn't nearly as good as BEP, but it was alright. My chocolate cream pie had a weird brown juice under it - likely melting pudding filling stuff, but it freaked me out. Our server chick was amazing. She was possibly the sweetest server I've had in Texas - she totally should have been in a greasy spoon with all the "sweeties" and "sugars" we got in the 25 min we were there. read more

I had never been to Luby's before this visit. I went for the breakfast buffet with my wife and 1 year old. It is conveniently located near the Double Tree hotel where we were staying and if you don't mind a short walk it doesn't even require a car ride to get to. It is cafateria style dining, and the breakfast food was a mix of classic American breakfast foods and some tex-mex breakfast. They open at 8 which seems late for breakfast, but we only arrived a few minutes to 8 so we didn't have to wait long. The price is right for any budget. The buffet is about 7 dollars and about 2 dollars more gets you a variety of beverages. Overall, not a bad meal for the price. read more
