Lucky City is not going to be the best meal you've had in your life, but it might be one of the best value meals. Large, no-skimp, no filler portions, honest wait staff, prompt service. Obviously the ambience is not great -- the place is a typical Chinese joint. There are roasted ducks that hang on hooks by the cashier. This place is mainly Cantonese (or at least Southern China-ish), so do yourself a favor and don't order anything Sichuanese because they don't specialize in that mess! Stick to the Chinese broccoli/gailan, the salted fish, the starchy soups, the Chinese BBQ. They have an option of three dishes + one soup for about $27. Solid. You can easily feed a family of three or four and have leftovers (depending on who the family consists of). We usually just order off of the value menu, but occasionally wander off the map and onto their full-fledged one. I like to get their fish+tofu pots, salted fish fried rice. Fried shrimp is not bad either -- they fry them with the shell on but they're crispy enough that you can just eat them like softshell crabs. I've never encountered anything to really complain about here. Again, this place isn't fantastic, but value-wise I would definitely recommend it. read more

Had a fabulous lunch here! Great menu options for Cantonese food and the dishes we ordered came out perfect, delicious and very well cooked. They have a nice dinner option combo deal that includes soup, which we decide to skip and order a la carte. The wait staff was super friendly and helpful (not just for our table and we saw how they go out of their way to help assist other customers). Our food came out quickly. We really like this Chinese restaurant. Their signature dish in my opinion is the wonton noodle soup with bbq pork, it's AMAZING! We also really love their bbq pork dish, however we have to remember to order it heated; I guess they traditionally serve it cold. We have come here probably about ten times in a year. Food is always great and the service is always awesome. They always remember us and greet us so kindly. We have tried many things off the menu - LOVE THE PEPPER STEAK - I just wish it came with more steak. Sweet and sour chicken is spot on. The Lo-mein is terrific. The only thing we didn't care for was the teriyaki chicken, but that is subjective of the sauce they use for it. We also came here for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner 2015. Thanksgiving we had planned to, as I didn't feel like cooking this year. But Christmas was due to issues with family and their flights. Even still they accommodated us without a reservation. The restaurant is fairly sized and has several large tables available. It wasn't too busy for Saturday lunch and we had a table right away. We ordered our standard fare; duck, roast pork, fried noodles, wonton noodle soup, fried fish with veggies, fried pork chops, Chinese veggies, and chicken. The food was pretty standard. The style of cooking is Cantonese so it's what we are accustomed to so that was a plus. But we really came here to try the duck and that was only OK, not as flavorful as we like. After a long day of staining a fence with nothing to eat, we were famished. Found Lucky City on Yelp and since it was right down the street, we decided to give it a try. We placed a pickup order, but the dining space is very nice and inviting. The staff that we interacted with to place our order were all kind and attentive. The food is regrettably where Lucky City falls short. As we carried out our order, we were surprised at how heavy the bag was - dang, we got a lot of food! There's always the expectation at a Chinese restaurant that you're going to get a huge amount of rice, but once we got home and dug into our order, we both received ~2 cups cooked rice each. Holy crap. The dumpling appetizers were tasty - no complaints there. I ordered the Szechuan spicy chicken, not sure quite what to expect. I opened the lid to a box packed full of diced items in a sauce - nice! I was pretty excited until I realized 85% of the contents of the box was diced water chestnuts and not chicken. I picked out all the little bits of chicken I could find, and it was ~1/3 cup of stringy diced chicken. DH didn't fare much better in his dish, which was a dish with egg and pork in it. It had a lot of scrambled egg on the top, a small portion of pork in the middle, all of which was on a huge bed of rice. Overall, I really can't give this place more than 2.5 stars due to the poor value of the food. We paid nearly $20 for 2 entrees advertised as meat dishes that contained incredibly small portions of actual meat and a lot of filler/rice. I really wish we had a better experience. read more

Last night was my first time here. I never noticed it before because it sits in the middle of a shopping center that is blocked from street view by a small shopping center. We had reservations at 7 for a party of 8 and had to wait about 30 minutes to get seated. We had to wait an additional 30 minutes for the food to come out. Each dish came out about 15-20 minutes apart. They were busy. Very busy. My finding? Totally worth the wait. Every single food item was fresh and delicious. We had seafood soup and tofu, Peking duck, salt and pepper shrimp and squid, dungeness crab fried rice, bok choy and shiitakes, and roasted duck. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because there were long waiting periods for each dish. Which meant that I ended up getting full from the food settling in my belly and so was not able to fully enjoy the rest of the dishes that were slowly making their appearance. If I wanted noodle in the wonton soup, I would have ordered it in the first place. 20minutes into our meal and we were pretty much done, but we had order a stir fried noodles but still haven't came so we ask about it and to get our check.. they said they are cooking it now. By this time we don't want to wait anymore at this place. We paid and packed it up and getting ready to leave while waiting for the noodle to be finish cooking.
