I've been here for several years and their food is very consistently tasteful. Their box meals have several choices which I enjoy. Recommending their salty pork chop, hot pot fish, salt&pepper fish, sauté clams, roasted pork and duck, glass shrimp, beef flat noodle, fried rice and most of their sauté veggies are good. Off box meal, salty shrimp, mayonnaise shrimp and crab w/ ginger are really good. All their food have a very good Cantonese style taste which I like. Been here a few times and I've enjoyed every single meal! I went here with my parents for an early Saturday dinner. There was only one other table, so service was quick! We ordered from the 3-person menu, and it was definitely more than enough! We also ordered their wonton soup too. Definitely come out and try this place if you're looking for some authentic Chinese food! The prices are also very reasonable. $36 for three people, including tip. Why 4 stars and not 5? I've been eating here for quite sometime. I don't know why I haven't written a review. Not the best Cantonese food I have ever eaten but it is pretty good for DFW and the price is reasonable. Obviously, some dishes are executed better than others. My favorites are spicy fish fillet, roast pork (it is usually hanging near the register/counter), fish fillet tofu hot pot, orange chicken, shrimp wonton soup, steamed pork belly with vegetables, and fried flounder. They can do better with their fried rice, kung pao chicken, and fried crispy egg noodles. Sometimes their roast duck is good, sometimes not so good. The beef flat noodles are just ok, they are missing the wok "hey" or the charred flavor from a hot wok. If you haven't tried this place, go and try them and support your small local business owners. Asked server to reheat and she had attitude. Orange chicken....Panda Express don't worry Pineapple pork chops ew. Room temp Beef broccoli came out so late so I was already done eating. Took it to go. So turned off, I may not even eat it. Service horrible, bad, rude from a female server. She was abrupt and rushing us when she took our order. I saw her blow her nose with a tissue and she continued serving food. No hand washing. Other servers were alright. Maybe u will get better service if u r Chinese Atmosphere Dirty! Loud! This is my first visit to Lucky City. I read other reviews and my usual stop for roast duck is First Chinese BBQ. Given this, I wanted to order my usual, roast pork and duck on rice. I've got to say, the presentation is different, but my order tasted almost as it normally does at First Chinese BBQ. I would say, at Lucky City, they gave me a little more ..... more pork, more duck, more complimentary pickled veggie. The duck sauce tasted the same. The service at Lucky City is much better than First Chinese BBQ, which is really my only complaint there. Overall, the food tasted good and I will be coming back to try their other dishes. read more

It is a Chinese restaurant and the floor under part of our table was very dirty and wet. I always order beef flat noodles at Chinese restaurants to establish my baseline to compare it to. The beef flat noodle dish was quite good. The serving size was adequate for 7. The duck was also tasty. The food came out 1 dish at a time but the wait time between the dishes were about 2-5 min apart. In the end, we got to see all the plates and get a picture of all of them with only the first one mostly served out. The food taste very homestyle cooking. No Asian fusion dishes served here. I ordered take out. I was told 20 mins. I got there after 30 mins and paid my bill. They don't take Amex btw. After paying had to wait another 30 mins for my food to be ready. No apologies for making me wait so long. The resturant was not super busy. Brought home food and the food smelt disgusting, looked bad and tasted worse. Threw away 40 bucks worth of food. I love Chinese food...but this is the worst food I have eaten in TX. I know Chinese food, as I moved from Flushing NY ( NYC's new Chinatown). All I can say is YUCK!!! Everytime I use this place it's usually pretty decent, but the wait is god awful, ordered the other day, dude in front of me probably waited 45 mins inside, I walked in after he'd been there for 10 mins, I waited 15 mins before even being acknowledged. Told them my name. And they left. You can see them brining out dozens of orders, but not giving any out, they just Answer the phone, make orders, but don't give any out. It gets worse, if you don't know anyone working there, prepared to be the last one to be helped. There will be a line out the door, someone will come in and chat it up with the employees and then get food immediately then leave, this happened 3 times while I was in line. I really did not expect Chinese food this good in Dallas. We ordered the roast duck, crab rice, and a few more dishes. The only knock on this place is that the duck was served cold. Great spot and is a popular restaurant. You could have a wait during the peak hour over the weekends. I like the selection of their menu and their bbq is certainly one of the best in the DFW area. Nonetheless, this standard fare Cantonese dish was perfectly cooked and extremely crispy on the outside. It was the best dish of the night. The other dishes were alright. We ordered Chinese broccoli and beef, salt and pepper pork. The salt and pepper pork chops was interesting it was fried and was tossed with some slices of chili peppers. A delicious dish. Not sure what the correct name for it is. It's just deep fried and seasoned with a rice flour batter (probably rice) and seasoned with salt and pepper. The stir fry Chinese brocoli and beef was alright. The vegetables were a bit overcooked. The beef was nice and soft from the typical chinese velveting process. Oh and it gets quite hot here. My uncle, from the bay area, isn't used to the heat he had to ask to turn on the ceiling fan. lol. Welcome to Texas uncle phillip! The a/c was on the light side though. It wasn't working full-time. Going back there on monday to have dinner with my parents one last time before they head back to Michigan. So maybe the second visit will be a better judge of what's to come. Heard from word of mouth this new Chinese place opened in Plano and was worth checking out. Suppose to have good BBQ duck. I ordered the BBQ meat combo - pork, chicken, and duck.. it was all FANTASTIC. Also tried their shrimp won ton soup, chicken fried rice (If you know what wok-hay is.. that taste is there), and Eggplant with Szechuan Pork. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. I'm certain I'll get 1 or 2 more hearty meals from the leftovers. I'm glad it was recommended to me, and I would certainly recommend it to others. I'm awaiting for an opportunity to get with friends/family and try out even more dishes. This is absolutely a gem in Plano. The food selection here is fresh and consistent. I think the best noodle soup or just soup is the wonton soup. The wonton is not stuff with fat like other places. The beef flat noodles is really good with a side of hot oil. We also had the salty fish and chicken fried rice, orange beef and chicken, snow pea leaves, tofu hotpot, and Mongolian beef. Let me just start out by saying I feel like I've been to almost every decent Cantonese restaurant in Plano (courtesy of my parents), and food-wise, they all kind of blend together for me. Typical of Chinese restaurants, ambiance is not a priority. The whole layout of the establishment is very standard with the BBQ display, 4-person booths & tables, and large round tables. My family usually chooses from a preset menu (versatile and affordable), and for this past visit, we got a soup, Lemon Grass Rib, Pickled Vegetable with Special Sausage, and the fish special of the day. The food was decent; I'd give three stars. What really impressed me about Lucky City were the speed, staff, and complimentary dessert (worthy of an extra star). The soup (appetizer dish) came out in less than 10 minutes after we ordered, and we didn't have to wait long for the main dishes either.The lady waiting on us was extremely friendly and hospitable towards my parents (not so much my brother or me... but I think it has to do more with culture). She checked up on us periodically to see how we were enjoying the food and if we needed anything, which I appreciated. All of this could have been due to the fact that we were the only customers for a while, but even when more customers came, the service didn't diminish. My favorite part of the meal was the dessert, a chilled taro and tapioca "soup" (not quite sure how to describe it). It was so delicious I even had my Dad's portion. Among the things we ordered were: crab fried rice, kong xin cai (hollow stemmed vegetables), duck, and a crispy noodle dish. My family has been going at least once a month for the same delicious Cantonese dishes. Usually we order BBQ pork, roast duck, crispy noodles, and stir fried beef flat noodles. The duck is not fatty. The roast pork is a hit or miss sometimes as you might get some dry parts. I always get my comfort food favorite, the fresh shrimp wonton soup. I am Cantonese myself so I am familiar with the food. The food is not excessively salty or heavy. We have been to Lucky City about 10 times and so far every visit yield consistent, hot, freshly prepared food. Last time we tried the Szechuan pork and eggplant which was tasty. The sauce is never overpowering, I think they have things right. The crispy fried shrimp has a good flavor also. For dessert you get complimentary sweet tapioca and taro porridge. The value for the food is good, for 6 of us the bill only came out to $55 for 5 dishes. The service was friendly and down to earth. I am not a fussy client anyway. Go and enjoy some comfort food! read more

This place just opened recently and apparently the head chef is the previous head chef at First Chinese BBQ (source of the hype?) I came here with my fiance's family as they are big fans of the food at First Chinese BBQ. But after having 10 dishes, I have to say that the quality is decent at best. All the proteins were on the salty side regardless of the cooking method, including the ducks and the BBQ. It might just be the kinks during the early stage of a new restaurant but the service was rather disorganized. We had to ask 3 times for water. We ordered 10 dishes and they came out one by one within a time frame of an hour, which is not acceptable. Some of the food got cold before the next dish even came out. Even the rice got cold. Hopefully they could get their acts together soon and improve on the quality of the food before the hype dies down. The food by itself would have been 3 stars but considering the service, only 2 stars. read more

I'm on a roll and 4s are coming. I won't say this is the greatest place but it can hold its Cantonese ground firmly enough. I went twice in two days, and well, the food is pretty good. Their Clearlake soup, bbq pork (cha siu), duck wrap with hoisin sauce, and a myriad of other things were all very good -- not bombtastic flavor exploding but still very good. I can't recall the ten dishes we ordered, but definitely give this place a shot. It should earn a 3 to 4 star in your book bc obviously I'm a prophet of human intuition...maybe. read more

Liked it the first time when I went for lunch. For at lunch was good, well priced classic Taiwanese. Unfortunately it was a MAJOR disappointment when I took a group of 4 for dinner. SLOW SLOPPY SERVICE from start to finish. We waited forever to place our order in a restaurant with only 3 other tables and at least 3 waitresses, one of whom appears to be the boss. Our food was served in separate installments over a 55 minute period. Our rice only arrived as we were leaving despite our inquiries twice beginning at the 39 minute mark. It was obvious the staff were more interested in chatting than servicing customers. Won't be back and encourage others to choose from any if the hundreds of great other Asian options too. read more

If you've visited the likes of First Chinese BBQ, JS Chen's, 369 Chinese BBQ, and other Cantonese restaurants around town, then Lucky City's menu will look very familiar. BBQ pork and roast duck are the first dishes to try at any restaurant with a siu mei. We were happy to discover that the pork was warm and tender, and the roast duck juicy and flavorful. My man and I loved their rendition of walnut shrimp with a slightly sweet mayo sauce and sesame-crusted walnuts. The garlic-sauced Chinese broccoli was extra garlicky as promised. When we asked our hostess about their untranslated house specials (posted on the wall), she recommended the Peking style pork chops. These arrived crispy and dressed in the a slightly sweet red Peking sauce and garnished with broccoli florets. If you've had Peking style beef or Chinese style beef, then try the pork version for a similarly tasty, but lighter protein. The only dish that actually disappointed was the crab asparagus soup; while I enjoyed the amount egg in it, the crab was hardly noticeable, and I thought the use of white asparagus boring. I tend to look forward to the splashes of green in this soup, but Lucky City's version was monochrome white. Staff was nice, friendly and attentive. Restaurant space was clean, with plenty of elbow room for large parties. There's a flat screen on one wall hosting Chinese language variety shows. One big plus, they take plastic. If I venture out here again, I'd definitely like to explore more dishes on their wall menu. read more

This would have been a four star review, except for the fact that they told us we didn't need a reservation and then when we showed up, they told us we needed one. My dad called yesterday (Christmas Eve) and asked if they would be open today (Christmas) and if we needed a reservation, we were told we didn't need one. When we arrived, they told us that they were booked full, the only reason we were given a seat is bc we promised we'd be done by 7:30... We ordered a set course meal, and the food was pretty good. But I really don't get all the chicken dishes... duck was listed and not given... so that was poo! Service was worse than normal bc they were rushing us... Went back to Lucky city to sample some other dishes. This time got the 4 choices with soup combo. It was kinda late, we were one of the only 2 tables at the restaurant. We ordered shrimp & eggs, beef chow fun, tofu with salted fish and chicken casserole, and the fried pork chop. Portion size for the pork chop was significantly smaller than last visit. The shrimp & egg was also not as big as I've seen being served on other tables on my last visit. Maybe the restaurants ran outta food or they wanna save for next day? I wouldn't know. The tofu casserole barely had any salted fish and chicken in it, it was really just a lot of soft tofu, the sauce isn't that flavorful also, I wouldn't order this again. The beef chow fun was pretty good, beef could be more tender, but the flavor is on point. Would probably give the place another shot, but the inconsistent serving portions ain't cool. read more
