Normally I'd turn to yelp for reviews and ratings if I'm trying somewhere new. However, my boyfriend convinced me otherwise since he's heard good things about Lucky Jean's. Desperately craving for a good poboy and a seafood platter, I decided to give them a go. Over the phone, I placed an order for a half oyster and half shrimp po boy, two hot sausage patties with cheese and a seafood platter with french fries. The shrimp/oyster po boy had very little seafood in it that it was quite pathetic and laughable to look at. I have never seen very few pieces of seafood (and tiny) in a sandwich like this one and especially that it's coming from New Orleans, it was a huge disappointment. To give it a fuller effect, we ended up piling all of the seafood onto one side and ate it that way 1/5. The hot sausage sandwiches were exactly like how it should taste. Greasy and spicy with robust flavors. This sandwich was kind of nostalgic as my family and I grew up eating it 4/5. The seafood platter was not memorable though. The shrimps were really small and the side order of fries were undercooked and very oily! I took a bite of the french fry and immediately spat it out! Yuck 0/5 for the fries, 2/5 for the seafood. The only good thing about my experience was the speediness of the order. It was ready for pickup within 15 minutes of ordering. We spent $41 and the food was a total waste of money! Next time if I'm craving for a good po boy and seafood platter, I'll stick with Castnet Seafood. They know what they're doing there!

This food wasn't the worst but was definitely not the best. I got the sesame chicken with the sauce on the side. Eventually I layered the sauce on the chicken but it wasn't worth it.

Always had a good experience here, great people working and food is always made to order, so i know im getting my poboys and plates super hot and fresh. Also the Hot sausage on bun dressed is life.

Boiled crawfish are huge and seasoned just the way I like it! The grill shrimp salad is yummy. Overall, great food, very clean and staff are friendly. Thus

Do not go to this place for a shrimp poboy. These were the smallest most flavorless shrimp I have ever had. I couldn't even finish a third of the sandwich because they shrimp were fried too hard and they look like dried shrimp when I took the batter off. A complete waste of time and money. I wish I could give no stars. I spent $11 on something that was inedible. If you want batter on French, this is the place. If you want fresh actual fried shrimp, try some place else. Sorely disappointed! Not what I expected at all.

It was supposed to be a grilled shrimp salad.

If I could give no stars I would. I don't know what they did to these "grilled shrimp" but it looks like they melted them. My coworker says it looks more like "chicken shrimp." This will be my first and last time visiting. And let's not ignore the fact that it was full of only iceberg lettuce.

Just okay. The bread wasn't as good as I expected it to be and the sandwich overall was luke warm.

Lucky Jean Seafood is ran by a group of happy, energetic, fun and friendly people. Their energy lights up the place, but the restaurant itself lacks any charm. There are tables to dine in the restaurant, but the walls are barren and the colors are drab; I would just recommend getting your food to go. I was lured to the place by the sign outside stating that they sold seafood by the pound and the constant flow of traffic didn't hurt either. Well, when I entered and saw the large container of Crawfish on the counter, I was super excited. Once I got that first crawfish in my mouth, it further increased my excitement. It was really good. Great flavor and spicy! I ordered a plate of their General T'So Shrimp with Shrimp Fried Rice. The Shrimp was over breaded (like most Chinese places) and very saucy. The flavoring wasn't bad on the shrimp. What killed it for me was the rice. It wasn't that great and although it was edible, I wasn't in love with it. I really wanted some Chicken Wings, so I ordered them on the side. I really enjoyed them. The were tender, crunchy but not over battered and beautifully flavored. I notice a few people were picking up these cakes on the counter. I grab one for myself and saw that it was called Gooey Cake. I had never heard of it before, but it was soooo good. I went back to Lucky Jean's a few times after this and every time, I had to pick one up. The food here was fresh and on the most part tasted good. I think that there main focus is the seafood and what I have tasted was good, but the Chinese food they serve leaves something to be desired.

There's no indoor seating because it's a tiny cute little shop, but they do have tables and chairs outside if you want to hang out. They have all kinds of fruit, milk, and boba teas. I got to try the strawberry fruit tea ($6), and I added some lychee popping pearls to it (For only $0.75 extra, it's SO worth it). It was not overly sweet, delicious, and perfectly refreshing! Just what I needed since it was hot out! I'll have to try their milk teas sometime I got to try their grilled cheese ($6). It was made with colby jack cheese on a bun. (At least, I think, I'm no cheese expert) The bun was good, but the cheese wasn't my favorite. In my opinion, this would be so much better if they used a sharper cheese, but to each their own. I did add imitation crab (+$1) to the grilled cheese, which helped boost the flavor a bit, but I really thought they could have use sauce or seasonings. You may enjoy their grilled cheese though if you're a purist! I also tried their sushi dog ($6). The hot dog was good quality, all beef. This had plenty of sauces and flavor, and much more up-my-alley! It is only half a sausage though, you don't get a whole dog, which was my only complaint. One thing to note: It's completely cashless, so you should definitely bring small bills for tips because you can't break a $20 there! Overall, I would try their other menu items, but I'd skip the grilled cheese. Their drinks seem to be yummy too!
