Let's start and end with the good and I'll cram the discomfort in the middle, okay? The servers here are friendly and helpful when ordering. My husband and son got burgers and my other son had chicken. They were fine. I had the meatloaf which was good. It was a bit of a kitchen sink meatloaf and had pieces of breadcrumbs (normal, but not normally discernible after combining and baking) and huge pieces of veggies. Not complaining, just stating facts. I liked it. I had green beans and okra with it, but the bread roll was heavenly, soft, buttery goodness. The food was good. The food getting to us took a very long time. The pleasant server kept us topped up with drinks and a cheerful attitude. But we waited and waited. Not the end of the world, except that the next time we went to Lucy's we stood at the door waiting and waiting while 3 employees were at the host stand and didn't acknowledge us at all. They appeared to be analyzing tables and getting ready for a rush. I get it, been there done that. But for THREE people to not acknowledge us (or the family ahead of us, who ultimately called out to them and sat themselves). We stood there for many minutes so it wasn't a pop-in, pop-out. We waited while two other families showed up after us, also not acknowledged. So we know what would've happened--wait forever for a table, wait forever for food. OR seat ourselves, wait for a server AND for food. I'm not a hugely impatient person. But customer service is the name of the game and acknowledgement is required. The desserts they offer are mini pies and even in all my frustrated angst, I'm missing that chocolate pecan pie. It was sugary heaven. No photos from me because I devoured it. Will we try Lucy's again? Eventually, I hope my husband will come around. But I don't want to waste a third strike. read more

Service is quick and the food is hot. Their single serving pies are a favorite. Be sure to try their Texas longhorn iced tea...it's got the kick you need after a long day! Wow. What a disappointment! Came during middle of day . Ordered coffee and pie . Never got my coffee served. .. but was on my bill at check out ..I ordered Apple pie. Asked them to heat it up. It was served in a plastic container! Heated in a plastic container in their microwave. Talk about toxin released into your food . Yuck. Then my husband's coconut pie was served in a plastic container. I can't believe our order to eat in house couldn't even be served in a plate .. much less served and heated in plastic. Do better. What an incredible find. Such an adorable chic little restaurant with so many surprises. The Fried Pickled Tomatoes breaded in Corn Meal only were indescribably delicious! The Fried Catfish (also in corn meal only for us gluten sensitive people) was perfect. Home made Tartar Sauce. Now for the best part, Coconut Cream Pie with Graham Cracker Crust and Whipped Cream Topping. They were busy but attentive. We were VERY HIGH MAINTENANCE and then ordered 3 To Go meals and another desert. They handled it beautifully. Had fried pickles and pepper jack squares for an appetizer. Wife and chicken fried chicken mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. I had chicken fried steak mashed potatoes and house salad with ranch. Both our entrees were very good. The ranch is house made and absolutely delicious. They had live music. The music was good. Service was okay. Best thing is it's consistently good. Stopped in for the first time on Sunday. Thankfully we arrived before the motorcycle club. We were pleased with our experience. Generally we felt the food was good quality and of quantity fitting the price. We did find that everything needed just a touch more salt (that said from someone that uses VERY little salt and rarely salts food once delivered. I had the catfish, green beans, coleslaw and onion rings. Now on to the pie. We had the coconut and chocolate. The coconut was spectacular. I should have bought a whole pie to take home. Just a great, casual place to relax and enjoy some good good food. Located on the historic square there's plenty of parking and interesting shops surrounding this restaurant. We enjoyed lunch after cycling through the area and were warmly welcomed immediately after entering. We sat and enjoyed the ambience and locals chatting with the staff. This has to be the cutest darn country restaurant/bar. I came here for breakfast on an early Saturday morning and all the country get up woke me straight up and had me ready to chow down on some seriously good food. I ordered the veggie omelette and my friend ordered the breakfast tacos. I would have loved to get the tacos as well since she raved about them but they only have pork filling options (chorizo, ham, bacon). However, my veggie omelette was pretty tasty and the breakfast potatoes were amazing. My biggest regret is not getting a slice of pie because there were pictures of their famous pies everywhere and they looked like something that belongs in heaven! This is some good shit with some home-down service. So make your way to this small town eatery for some breakfast, dinner, or a beer to watch some football. read more

We went for my birthday and arrived early (can't make reservations) and went for the pie. When we arrive at 4:50 pm there were lots of empty table but were told we could only have the one table next to the front door.I told the hostess I was cold natured but she said it was our only option. It was terrible... people standing around us all night and holding the door open for over 5 minutes at a time letting extremely cold winds in all night. We had to put our coats on, and we could hear each other talk. The waitress was rude and rolled her eyes at us every time we would ask to give our order or get the check (had to ask over 5 times). The food was served timely and was good. When we finally got the waitress to let me order pie, they were out of about 4 types and the two types they had left were not pies I wanted. Went here on the recommendation of a friend. Said the chicken fried steak was great! Obviously, he had not had much CFS in his life. It looked fine and I like that they offered cream of brown gravy. That's different, but I went with cream gravy. While my friend cut his CFS with his fork, admiring how tender it was, I cut mine with a fork and found it to be less steak and more ground meat and even more crust! It was very disappointing and really blah. I've been here before but brought my son for an early dinner after w track meet. With him being a teenager he always prefer chain and places so wasn't sure how'd he like it. They are so nice and friendly. Our waitress was awesome and it's a family feel as soon as you walk in. I had the patty melt with seasoned fries that were fresh cut. He had a regular hamburger with fries. Mine was amazing and the grilled onions with pepper jack cheese was the perfect temperature to melt. My husband and I stopped in here for lunch as part of a wine tasting tour in North Texas. It's a country style cafe and as we were part of a tour we had a buffet which offered fried catfish, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and chicken fried chicken. We tried a bit of everything and it was all good including the moonshine lemonade we had. My husband also had a pecan pie for dessert which he said was awesome. Visited today for a late lunch during my Texas Winos tour. We had a buffet that was a part of the tour. We had salad, fried catfish, creamed corn, chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, and mashed potatoes and white gravy. Everything was delicious. Nice crunchy, seasoned coating on the chicken fried items. Mashed taters were smooth, the gravy thick and creamy. The creamed corn was good, a little looser than I prefer and every few bites I got a slight off taste but it was otherwise pretty good. Catfish was crispy and fresh, and tasted awesome with a few shakes of Tabasco sauce. Drink prices were reasonable especially for drafts. Got a 16 oz local beer for $3.75. Staff were friendly, cleared the table of plates quickly when we were finished eating. Great stop with some good down home cooking'! read more

Second time returning here after a less than great experience the first time. Both times we have been here, the food has been very bland. The quality of the food is good, but just no seasoning. The only things we have enjoyed are the chicken fried chicken and the pies (the pies are AWESOME!). The ambiance of the place is extremely loud. Also, there is no ventilation. We went there on a night where it was 92 degrees outside and inside it felt just as hot. read more
