A great place to get soup dumplings, wontons. The service was quick and they were very attentive

This was one of those rare moments when Yelp lead me wrong. Was in the neighborhood and looking for a place during dinner time. Came across Lulu with excellent reviews saying authentic Szechuan restaurant. So my spicy-loving nature had to give the place a try. Ordered: Szechuan Style Braised Pork 巴蜀红烧肉 (spice level 2 indicated on the menu) Sauteed Pork Tripe with spicy sauce 辣炒脆肚 (spice level 3 indicated on the menu) Eggplant with spicy garlic sauce 鱼香茄子 (spice level 2 indicated on the menu) The restaurant was very busy so food took a while to arrive. I noticed some tables had a small plate of kimchi and our table didn't, so I asked the server for some, and he brought a plate out. What I assumed was kimchi, (because it was cabbage in some red sauce and I overheard another table asking for kimchi) actually tasted nothing like kimchi. The cabbage had a slightly fermented sour taste and was marinated in tomato sauce and sugar. My mind kept telling assuming it was kimchi and was shocked when it tasted both sweet and sour at the same time. Some people might enjoy it, but not me. When the food arrived, nothing was as described! The eggplant with spicy garlic sauce was NOT spicy at all, and instead of tasting like garlic, it tasted like sweet and sour sauce, the kind you get if you ordered orange chicken. The Szechuan Style braised pork came on a burning stove, and the only close resemblance to "Szechuan style" was the green jalapenos. The pork itself is just soy sauce braised pork, and was clearly pre-cooked because it was just luke-warm when served. If you are calling it "Szechuan style", the least you can do is have some garlic, peppercorn, or red chili in the dish. The sauteed pork tripe with spicy sauce had no sauce, and even though it was a spicy level 3 on the menu, the pork tripe was not that spicy at all. The only spiciness came from the jalapenos, which I guess because it was fresh, was actually spicier than the pickled red chili in the dish. But hey, at least this dish had some red chili. All in all, everything tasted OK, but I wouldn't call this place authentic Szechuan restaurant. To me, Szechuan cuisine not only has to be spicy (by using red chili or chili paste) but also flavorful with peppercorn and garlic and other combination of spices. None of the three dishes I ordered achieved that effect. Spice level 2 was so mild and spice level 3 was only spicy because of the jalapeno does not make it authentic Szechuan. Perhaps the popular griddle cooked dishes, or the Chongqing spicy dish would taste more Szechuan, but there are so many better and more authentic Szechuan restaurants out there, I won't be returning for another try. read more

Few restaurants survived COVID and fewer without dropping the quality, but not my love Lulu who went thru thick and thin with me! Lunch special still large enough for dinner special and flavorful deliciously eaten to be called the best Sichuan in Dublin! Their service and food is perfect. I came here with a group of 3 and they got our food out immediately after ordering. A pretty authentic Chinese food place in Dublin. It's only getting 3 stars because the service was awful. The staff were friendly enough and even suggested we order less food which I thought was awesome, but they struggled to understand us and the timing of the dishes coming to the table was very wonky. Pot stickers arrived literally as we were finishing up everything else and they were one of our main courses. To add to the weirdness, glasses of iced water arrived 2 minutes before we paid the bill....that's quite the afterthought. The tea was delicious, I couldn't get enough of it. Sadly halfway through eating I realized the side of the tea pot had dried on food stuck to it. Orange peel chicken was great, it was served in a nice thick really flavorful brown sauce. I would come here for their lunch specials! Worth the price. In terms of flavor, I'm really picky because I'm always comparing to what I had at Beijing growing up. It's not quite the same but not bad. I ordered their spicy kidney 火爆腰花 dish. I think it's kidney, I don't really remember the english for it actually. A good place for Szechwan food. The dishes are nice and spicy. They start you off with a complimentary kimchi appetizer which is really good. We got water boiled fish, spicy fried chicken and pan fried baos. Everything was pretty good. They charge for the rice by the bowl. One bowl is usually good enough for 2 unless you eat a lot of rice. If you're in the area and feel like getting some spicy Chinese food, this is the place to go. read more

We've been here many times in the past couple of years. Food was good that's why we were loyal repeat customers. However that will no longer be the case. I don't know what happened. We were looking for a place to eat that would satisfy meat-eaters and vegetarians and Lulu's Kitchen fit the bill. Many Szechuan restaurants put little pieces of meat in vegetable dishes making it hard for vegetarians to eat them. This was not a problem here. Spicey Szechuan mapo tofu, fried rice, and hot and sour soup. The food is hot temperature and palatable. The tofu was very gingery. Maybe too much. The soup is tasty with lots of content but watery probably didn't have corn starch to thicken. The combo fried rice had small grains and looked like old rice with too much soy sauce. Perhaps this is their food style but I have had better elsewhere. The place is plain but clean. We ate there on disposable plates cups and utensils like at a picnic. read more

This is a very authentic Szechuan (Sichuan or whatever other romanized spelling!) restaurant. Szechuan food was the second regional Chinese food to hit America (after Cantonese). At the time, around the 70's, Szechuan food in America was "anything other than Cantonese", sort of the vanilla ice cream to balance out the ubiquitous chocolate ice cream. After several other regional Chinese food have had their peak in America, I'm happy to see this Szechuan restaurant bringing this spicy regional Chinese food back! The difference here is that what Lulu serves is much more authentic than the Szechuan restaurants of the 70's. The hot spices are very unique in taste. The dishes are very traditional. Again, as I've stated in several of my other reviews, if you're looking for American Chinese food, this is definitely not the place for you; but if you're adventurous and eager to try something authentic, visit Lulu! read more

The two star review is based on the raw food that they served us. I won't go into too much details but the steamed dumplings we ordered came to our table not cooked all the way through. I had one that was questionable and I took the other one off the spoon my kid and sure enough that one was partially raw as well. When we told the staff, none of the wait staff bothered to apologize... Even though the other dishes were alright, we just won't be coming back to this place again. It's a big red flag if a simple steamed dumplings dish can be done so wrong. read more

Still 4 stars. Dan Dan noodles are simple but good and we'd recommend them. If my kids weren't with me I would have liked it spicier and kept the peanuts in. Pot stickers were typical. Beef pancake roll was our favorite dish. They do a great job with this one. Skip the XLB- we sent ours back since every single one arrived broken. Finally had a chance to try this place! It was Friday night and it wasn't packed, so we were seated right away. Since we weren't too hungry, we decided to share one dumpling dish and one other dish. We got the pan fried pork buns and the sweet rice with ribs. Awesome choices! They give SO much rice, so we had to take it home. The sticky rice is sweet and savory. The ribs are so soft and fall right off the bone. It had a lot of flavor! Tasted really good with some of the chili oil they have on the table! It also came with some squash/pumpkin type of veggie, which added a nice flavor to it. I really liked it! As for the the pork buns, WOW. These are so addicting. The skin is crispy on the outside but soft when you bite into it. It's a good ratio of skin to filling! The meat filling is flavorful and there's a lot of it! And the sauce they give with it adds flavor through the rice vinegar. I would eat this breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Haven't tried the other dishes yet, but I will come back here to try more of their dumplings! read more

Kinda disappointed. I came here thinking the reviews were good. This REALLY isn't the place to go for Dim Sum. There are no carts here, the place is tiny. The prices are astronomical. For 5 dim sum dishes it was already $40. The food quality was okay, not great. Service was okay, though getting a chipped tea cup (bad Feng Shui) should have been my sign that this was going to be a problem. The steamed pork with Sticky Rice was dry. The pork was overtly dry to the point that the meat had the texture of wood. The Chow Mein tasted funny. The photos I took may look appetizing, but don't let that convince you. The dumplings were flavorless. It's a hit or miss. Not sure how it got such a high rating, since our experience was so dismissal. I don't plan on coming back. read more

I was so excited to try this from all of the great reviews. I had the strangest experience here. I was brought water and I ordered. Barly milk tea, scallion pancakes and spicy pork vermicelli. She brought me out the tea and after she walked away, a friendly cockroach crawled onto my table and my water glass. I guess he was exploring. I grabbed the attention of the waitress, I didn't want to alarm the entire restaurant. As this happened, I really just wanted to leave. She picked up the roach with my water glass in her BARE HANDS. She went to the kitchen, moved me to another table and brought out my food. I wanted to leave! I felt sick! She came and said "on the house, this will be on the house" I knew I didn't want to eat but here was the food and so. I sat and took 3 bites. The vermicelli had an offputting smell. I kept mixing it around and around and I never did find any pork! The scallion pancakes were oily and didn't have much of a flavor of anything. I received my bill. She meant my TEA was on the house. I paid $25 for food that I walked out with and threw in the TRASH. read more

Even though Lulu's seems to specialize in spicy, Szechuan-style dishes, I'd still recommend it to people who, like me, can't take a lot of heat. I've been able to try a variety of dishes here and have never had a problem finding non-spicy options. Here are some of my favorites: xiao long bao (8) - 7.95 soup rice noodle (beef stew; not spicy) - 8.95 steamed pork ribs with sweet rice - 13.95 rice dumpling in sweet rice wine (small) - 6.96 The choices above were good for lunch with two other friends. It was my first time trying the rice dumpling dessert and I really, really liked it. It wasn't too sweet and had only the slightest hint of rice wine. The dumplings themselves had a smooth black sesame filling that made for an interest combination of flavors altogether. Parking can be tough since there are quite a few other restaurants and shops in this little plaza, but I've always managed to find at least one or two spots. In any event, this place is worth circling around a little bit for, especially since you don't have to drive down further to the even more crowded Ulferts Center. read more

We wanted to try Fiery Shanghai but after sitting down and presented with 1000's of options, we decided to stand and go to Lulu's. We ordered shrimp fried rice, preserved meat fried rice, mapo tofu, beef noodles, sizzling squid and tea duck. All was good except for the duck, not for us. Will definitely come back. read more

Supreme broth is amazing! Good portions for the price. Spicy in itself. I like to get extra spicy.

I went out on a limb today and ate a dish well out of my comfort zone. I ordered frog legs in a special sauce. Just a hint of spice but very flavorful. Only spicy when I bit into a jalapeno. Delicious. Tasted just like chicken. In fact, they looked like very mini chicken wings. The drumette was very meaty. The rest of the leg had some meat but was super tiny. The only downer, there were plenty of tiny bones making the dish hard to eat. Just pop a piece in your mouth, chew carefully then spit out the bones. Great to try once but not different enough to be worth the effort. Just cook up some chicken wings in the same sauce and I would be just as happy. Also got the dry fried string beans. Despite the chilies in the dish, very mildly spiced. Perfectly cooked to "crisp tender." Yummy. Lulu's Kitchen is great for adventurous eaters, not afraid to try unique food normally not found on the American dinner table. Otherwise, don't bother. Skip their attempts at Americanized Chinese food, most are listed in the menu under the exotic section. It can be too much trouble working one's way through the menu to find the gems. read more

I was super excited to try this restaurant as a friend recommended it. My family LOVES Chinese food and we have been looking for a good place to go to in Dublin. Unfortunately, we were HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. This place is AMAZING!! I ate here a few days ago and I ate the Sheng Jian Bao and Yang Zhou fried rice. My sister and brother ordered noodle dishes and they loved it and agreed they give SO much food! Everything is SO delicious and the portions are very nice. Aside from this, the lady at the cashier was so friendly and nice :). I will definitely be coming back. I wish I lived closer as this is a 30 minute drive from me.. This is a new little gem in the dublin area! It used to be a zazang noodle place and now it transformed to a stylish szechuan restaurant. Decided to give it a try on the last day of the lunar year - because all the chinese restaurants were fully booked. We were lucky that a table left so we got seated within 5 minutes. There were a lot of dishes that we wanted to try but since we only have 3 people we can only ordered so much. We had the "saliva chicken", a tofu dish, a steam fish dish and the glutinous rice with spare ribs. Out of all the dishes, we loved the steam fish the most. Not the typical cantonese style steam fish, but steamed fish fillet over tofu, topped with a mixture of diced veges in hot sauce. I forgot the name of the dish but the picture will tell how good it was! All the food was good, even the dessert - glutinous rice ball with osmanthus wine sweet soup. YES, this is EXACTLY the restaurant the Tri-Valley needed. Binky and I NEVER eat Chinese food (even tho it's Binky's favorite) because we do not often find very good restaurants in our area. Lulu's had been on my radar when it first opened but I soon forgot about it in the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. LUCKILY, a friend recommended the restaurant, prompting Binky and I to visit for dinner last night. Firstly, Lulu's Kitchen offers OPTIONS GALORE -- Binky and I went WAY overboard with ordering (we ordered FOUR dishes for TWO people -- obviously, we were a little too excited...). 1. XiaoLong Bow: Binky and I had heard rumors that Lulu's xiaolong bow were the best to be had in the area (although, admittedly, not the highest standard...). Nevertheless, Binky and I were truly excited to try their bow, considering that xialong bow have been HYPED LIKE ALL HELL these past few years in the bay (causing Binky and I to be more disappointed than not...). I'm happy to report that Lulu's bow did NOT disappoint -- the broth inside the dumplings was HEAVENLY (wish they had put more soup inside the dumplings, best part), the skin was thick and each dumpling contained a big portion of meat. 2. DanDan Noodle: YUM, the sauce was PERFECT (not too salty, thank God), tasted so good over the noodles, beef, and bak choy. 3. Tea Smoked Duck: (~20 dollars for half order since they charge by "market prices") My least favorite of all the dishes we ordered. Admittedly, I'm not SUPER big on duck and Lulu's was good (strong tea flavor, tender pieces of duck) BUT I did think the meat was a little on the salty side. 4. Sauteed Lotus Root w/ Chili: I don't even like lotus that much and this turned out to be my favorite dish we ordered. The chili spice was SOOOOOOO good on the lotus (CAN NOT EVEN DESCRIBE HOW DELICIOUS IT WAS). This dish has single-handedly made me rethink the lotus root. MUST TRY. Overall, WE LOVED THIS RESTAURANT. I wish we had ordered some plain rice, or some less flavorful vegetable because ALL of our dishes were SEASONED to the max -- I had to drink TONS of tea to balance the flavors. HOWEVER, 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND -- it's not everyday you come across a good Chinese restaurant in the Tri-Valley. . read more
