This was my first time at This restaurant. The service was amazing the food was so delicious! I witnessed a waiter falling with his tray full of food !! I saw him trip and it wasn't his fault!!! I am 52 years old and I was a waitress for 10 years so I know how it feels to make a mistake that wasn't my fault! I hope that he does not get disciplined or fired for this mishap!!!!!! I asked for the manager and I told the manager that I witnessed the whole thing and saw him trip and drop his tray of food unfortunately it did fall on a few people but it wasn't his fault. I asked the manager for him and left him a $10 tip because I know how it is to be in the food industry ! I salute that waiter and I hope he still has his job and got his $10 tip for me! Came here on Mother's Day brunch and I know it's a chaotic day for the service industry but was slightly disappointed that we joined the waitlist 2 hours ahead of time and still had to wait an hour when we got there. The hostess was so helpful though, which we appreciated. Our server was fantastic and everything I had to eat was great. Loved the gluten free choices and the grapefruit margarita was so good. My wife and I have been coming here for a couple of years and we love it. We usually sit at the bar and have a margarita (recommend ordering Large Top Shelf Frozen margarita....it's up to you on the salt). It's a great drink. Suggestion: don't drive if you drink 2 of them! We tried the Filet beef fajitas. Yes...they're a bit pricey, but they are delicious. My ONLY complaint about Lupe's is the size of their flour tortillas. They must be 9-10" in diameter! Ok so this is the SECOND time I tried Lupe Tortilla. A different location but review is the same. Service is great. However as I've said in other reviews, "You can't EAT SERVICE". I had flat enchiladas, my wife had green enchiladas. We came because someone gave us a gift card, and it solidified why we don't frequent Lupe Tortilla. Lupe Tortilla is "Mexican food " for people who enjoy paying too much for food that is made wrong. Plain and simple. If you enjoy that you'll love Lupe Tortilla. After waiting an hour we were finally seated and ordered our food almost right away. We had 3 adults and 3 children. They tried bringing us beer that was half empty because most of it bubbled over. Then we waited another hour for the food. The manger explained that there was a big party there, but how is that our fault? She took care of our food. So the experience want completely horrible. I went another time to get take out on Christmas Eve. There were about 5 groups waiting and we stood in line for quite some time. Only complaint I have is with the refried beans and Spanish rice. The beans were dry and had the consistency of old toothpaste. and the rice was hard and undercooked or just dried out. Everything else is really good and the staff and our waitress was very attentive and polite. Just tried this place again. Ordered the pork carnitas tacos along with my family's order of steak fajitas and shrimp. While their meals were descent. My Tacos were a complete failure. My dish came out cold, and the pork was just a cut up cubed pork chop, that was way over cooked and hard as rocks that cut up the inside of my mouth on my 1st bite. While the staff was apologetic , they asked if I wanted something different and even brought something else to the table for me to try, but at that point I just wanted the bill. I am really disappointed. I used to love this place. First of all the prices have gone WAY up. $14.00 for four chicken flautas that were extremely dry. The best thing I can say about them is that they were big. I couldn't finish the whole thing anyway. How about focusing on quality rather than quantity. We normally like Lupe Tortilla but tonight my dinner was not good. I just ordered the wrong thing, a puffy taco and chalupa. First, a small corn tortilla bowl is not a puffy taco. BEST. FAJITAS. EVER. Lupe Tortilla is amazing, from top to bottom. The wait staff is friendly and engaging. They always make small talk and converse with you even if they aren't waiting on you but recognize you from a past visit. The chips and salsa are great as is the chili con queso. The maragaritas are worth every penny. Unlike other Mexican restaurants that skimp on the alcohol (uhem Los Cucos uhem), Lupe Tortilla gives you a great mixture of alcohol and flavor. I love the queso as well and get that every time I come to the place. The wait time can be long if you are coming during peak hours pretty much any day of the week. Buyer Beware!! Lupe get's a one star review because their server decided that the $10 cash tip that I left him on my $54 tab was not enough.. He added $8 to my credit card portion that I specifically marked $0 with a line through it. Lupe refunded my money after a week and a half and me having to call several times.. I love Lupe's Tortilla, but when it's high 50's in February it might be a good idea to turn off the fans and turn on the outdoor heaters. It's a busy Friday night, their seating people in first-available seating outdoors. People are in jackets, bewildered and huddling over their food. We opted to wait for indoor seating. I asked the hostess if they might turn off the fans and turn on the heaters for the folks outside. She said yes. We've now been seated indoors by a window, the fans are still on, the heaters are not and folks are still unhappy in the cold. Poor customer service, but the food is great!! read more

Lupes has been my go to Tex Mex restaurant for years in Houston. The fajitas are legend...ary! I want, no... I need, the recipe. Home made corn tortillas, flour tortillas as big as the moon and queso flowing like a golden river. Haven't really had a bad experience dining in the restaurant.
