Ensure you read the 'filtered' reviews too........ I've finally found a place where I get good, HONEST service. For instance. I once took my car(C240) into the dealership and they told me my brakes needed to be replace......Over $600 later, new brakes. Years later when I found Thomas, he told me that the car will tell me when I need new brakes and not to replace them before I'm told by the car or I'd just be wasting my $$$. Thomas is WAY less expensive than the Mercedes dealership in Austin and Georgetown. (From my understanding, the mechanics at the dealership make their pay off of jobs they do, so they make things up.) Thomas is always available whenever I need him. I was out of town once and was able to call him(on a Sunday no less) and he talked to me about my issue, what it could possibly be and recommendations on what to do. I had my air conditioning fixed and one of the seals didn't take, so he fixed it the next day within 2 hours under warranty with free rental car. He stands behind his work and products and does the right thing. He is always upfront and honest with me on things that should be fixed and things that can hold off being fixed. Thomas runs an HONEST business that is hard to find sometimes nowadays. I would never take my car anywhere else!!! read more

Giving Luxury Auto even a two-star review is a challenge, because I seriously question this business's ethics. My husband took his car in for routine maintenance because Luxury Auto was advertising a discount. We had never used them before, but we knew some non-routine work was probably needed and saving money is good, right? The estimate that we received was not only more costly than having the work done at the dealership, it included line items for completely unnecessary work - replacing non-existent filters, cleaning out lines that don't exist in our model VW, and flushing out things that were just flushed. Giving Luxury Auto a HUGE benefit of doubt, perhaps they've never worked on our car before? I really hope that's the case, and that they weren't intentionally trying to overcharge us. Needless to say, we took our car elsewhere, and declined to have Luxury Auto do the work. They did, however, find time to put a "Luxury Autoworks" license plate holder on the car before we picked it up. We took it off. read more

The best Auto repair shop in town! Thomas and his technicians are incredibly knowledgeable and always return my Audi in perfect shape. My car had a check engine light on and was leaking oil, and in order to fit my budget Thomas discounted the labor on the oil leak. He knew it was a repair that needed to get done in order to have a safely running car. I really appreciate everything LAW does for me and my car! I have generally read good reviews about this place and decided to take my BMW for a brake fluid flush (which the dealership wanted to charge me $300+). They quoted $115 over the phone. But when I take my car in for service they quote me a $2000+ quote which included items that BMW doesn't recommend until the car hits 80K miles. BTW, my car has less than 40K miles. They said my car needed a brake job as well and quoted $1300+. A few days later I took my car back to the dealership and had them check the brakes. They measured the pad depth and said I still had at least 4-5K miles depending on how I drive. So thanks for trying to steal my money in broad daylight. I will take my car back to the dealership or find a more honest place. read more

Thomas and his team at Luxury Auto Works have saved me big time twice now and I couldn't be any more grateful. I used to take my 2001 Audi S4 to the dealership in Madison, Wisconsin for 6 years. They did a huge repair before moving to Austin. They messed it up, and my brakes went out on the way down. I was planning on going to the dealership here for the repair, and they messed up the scheduled time. Somehow, that next day, I had a business card left on my windshield at work for Luxury Auto Works with Thomas's name on it. I'm pretty wary of things like that. But my brakes were getting worse and worse. So I called him, and he answered directly. When I got the car in, they got my unit raised, and even showed me under the car what was going on. They got me taken care of extremely quick and answered all my questions. I'm a technology technician but know nothing about cars. He even helped me with advice with my dispute towards the dealer in Wisconsin. I kept going back for my repairs for the past two years I've lived here without issue. Recently I had another big repair that was needed. Dreadfully expensive to the point I was considering selling the car. Thomas helped me out. When I picked up the car, it was a rainy Friday and everyone already left for the weekend and as I drove the car in the lot it was making a strange squeaking noise. I emailed Thomas to request keeping the (Lexus, nonetheless) loaner car over the weekend and have them take another final look at my car that Monday morning. He said that was fine. Of course Sunday evening, on 183 in crazy traffic, the tire popped. I was stuck on 183 and couldn't get a tow-person to get me off the highway (I couldn't replace the tire on the side of the highway without certain death, either). I called Thomas, he helped get me towed out of there quick, at no charge. Of course on Monday, it was just the rain causing the squeak and I caused them another repair on their loaner car. The entire team took it in friendly stride, and was very considerate (again) throughout the process. This has never changed in my 2 years of dealing with them and I hope it never will. I have little reason to think that it will. Luxury Auto Works takes care of every type of car, not just older German cars like mine that break down all the time. Updated review to 3 stars after Thomas called and apologized for the confusion and tried to work it out. I haven't actually taken my car to get serviced here but I am impressed by the customer service, despite the miscommunication in the initial experience. Original review is below. They advertises themselves as an alternative to the Lotus dealer in google search ads but they are not actually able to deliver on this claim. They wasted an hour and a half of my time even after I called and asked if they could address my specific issue. They said they could, but when I drove all the way out there, they could not. I called Luxury Auto Works and told them that my Elise had a "check engine" light on, that I had read the error code and that my car had "forgotten" its VIN. This is a well known issue with the Elise ECU: if you don't keep the battery charged, it can lose the programming in the ECU that records the VIN. This is error PO630. I didn't plug in my battery tender correctly and my car sat for a few weeks and it erased the VIN. The main symptom is that it may turn the temp display from fahrenheit to celsius or vice versa, because the VIN tells the ECU which country your car is in, - so it is not a major issue - but it may hide actual engine problems because the check engine light is always on and other engine errors won't have any indication, so it is best to get the VIN reprogrammed. My car was still displaying the engine temp in fahrenheit so there is no "real" problem. I called this place because they were closer than the dealer (which is in Cedar Park) and informed them that my Elise had "forgotten" its VIN and I specifically asked if they had the Lotus computer / ecu tool to fix that. The person answering the phone said "we can do everything the dealer can do except for some major body work" so I made an appointment. I wasted 45 minutes driving up to this place only to have the tech say he can't program the VIN back into the ECU, then I drove 45 minutes back down to downtown. What a waste of time! read more

I have been to this place for a service maintenance and an issue with my car's overheating problem. My experience at this place has been bad. Thomas has not been able to fix my car. He couldn't fix car's heating issue and the fan-blowing noise. I had to pay for parts which I believe were never really needed considering the problem still persists. I have taken it twice there, but they have not been able to fix it. Even the 60K service maintenance wasn't done to satisfaction. Most of the Luxury auto shops return the car after a wash. Not sure place charges premium for nothing. The only thing Luxury about this place is charging a high price to show that they are in Luxury auto service business. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

"I originally chose Luxury Auto Works based on the exemplary reviews. Now that I'm a customer, I can understand why. To give an example, after my last service one of the techs inadvertantly got a few small grease smudges on the inside cabin of my car. After bringing it to their attention, Thomas (I believe he is either the owner or primary manager) was so apologetic that something like that slipped through unnoticed, not only did he have the smudges removed, but went and cleaned all the interior. That's not even the best part, he also gave me a complimentary full interior detailing from a reputable local detailer to be used anytime in the future...about a $180 value. The point is, top notch customer service is EXTREMELY important to Thomas, and I appreciate that, because I think I'm probably a bit more sensitive to good/bad customer service than most. I have a "Mercedes Fetish" having owned many MB. Generally I have gone to the dealership for service and I can honestly say that the MB dealer in Austin is the worst of the 5 dealerships I've dealt with over the years. I found Thomas and team at Luxury Auto Works and they are terrific. I've found Thomas to be very honest, suggesting a simple oil change on my diesel MB at 5K mile intervals instead of full blown service. My newest MB is under warranty and Thomas found a number of items that should have been caught by the dealership but weren't so I took it in to MB Georgetown (not great but a ton better than MB Austin) and they did the warranty repairs. These guys are great. I got a recommendation from a friend to take my newly used 335xi couple the Luxury Auto. After dropping my info in the online form to requested an appointment, Les contacted me almost immediately, and scheduled me for a drop off and loaner the very next day. An oil change and a detailed inspection, and a wheel alignment had my Bimmy running great. Great service. Crazy clean work area. Friendly staff. Les explained and showed me in detail what he fixed and why. I didn't feel pressured to do any extra repairs. This is definitely my "Go to" spot for my car. read more

Decided to take my 2006 VW Rabbit in for service after one of their technicans persistently kept tagging my car with his business card. If you live north and have a luxury vehicle, you should check these guys out. Great service by Casey on our Lexus GS 300 for a timing belt, etc. change. Prior to the work, I was given a thorough visual overview of the health of the car, looking at the timing belt and other belts as well as walking along the under carriage of the car with Casey so I could actually see what he was talking about. It was a real education which may not be for everyone, but I really appreciate knowing what's in good shape and what is showing signs of wear for future reference. As a bonus, after the repair we noticed the AC was noticeably cooler. When I asked why, Casey explained that he had to remove the radiator to change the timing belt. He found a lot of leaf debris build up (I bet, the car was manufactured in 2002) so he cleaned the radiator as well...no extra charge. Now in addition to new belts, we have an improved and more efficient AC! Thanks so much! read more

Every now and then there is a repair shop that is truly unique, does what they say they will do and when you walk out of there, you know that you have received the finest service that you can without having to worry about "did they fix it correctly". Thank you SO much for taking care of my car! I am a lifetime customer after my recent experience with Luxury Auto and my Auto Technician Casey Crews. I have always taken my car to Lexus of Austin for ALL service/repair work - but this time I had a terrible experience! They quotes me $4100+ for A/C work, front brakes and a cosmetic gas cap piece. The A/C work was WAYYYY over priced - turns out I didn't even need to replace one of the major parts they said was "broken" - they didn't even test the lines that go to the part to see if it was performing correctly. The brake job was accurately quoted. The gas cap lever inside my car had popped off and Lexus of Austin said it would be nearly $200 to replace it - when in reality it just needed to be snapped back on. I will not be taking my car back to Lexus of Austin even though I have been a loyal customer for almost 10 years as I feel like they were dishonest and overpriced. My Tech at Luxury auto, Casey, used to work on my car at Lexus of Austin. He is honest, timely and has a ton of experience with all Lexus models. The front desk girl was awesome too - she stayed late for me when I needed to pick up my car knowing I couldn't get there before closing. I would recommend this shop to anyone that need work done on their car!! My car is running GREAT and my A/C is better than ever. read more

I went to Lucas "we suck" Auto Care in Cedar Park once again for them to fix something they should have done the first time, and when I arrived the place was closed with a sign on the door to call Luxury Auto Care. I called and from the get go they were ready to fix my BMW. When I arrived I was really impressed with the location as it was nicely set up with complimentary computers (Macs), free Wi-Fi, coffee, sodas, water, leather sofas, the whole works. Check-in was painless and i was even given a loaner car; granted it was a 1998 Mercedes E Class but it was boss! I was given a status report via email with a link to their website that showed me pics of the problem areas. I was even sent an itemized summary of my repairs labeled with actions needing immediate attention to those that could wait. I never got this kind of detailed service at the dealership and I was pleasantly surprised to get it at an auto repair shop. This ain't Pep Boys, that's for sure!! read more

I've been a regular customer for almost a year now! At the beginning I was a little unsure if I should bring my car to luxury auto works. When I took my car into luxury auto works thomas inspected the car and had many issues ( probably because I bought it used) so I started fixing the car in the long run and now the car is in excellent condition!! I love the customer service they have, first of all I can't bring the car by myself because my working hours won't allowed it so thomas said no problem we'll send Alex, leave you a loner car and after the work is done Alex we'll drive the car to you location! Which sounded great!! So every time my car needs service I just call Danielle and she will be very helpful, I really feel all the boys in there know what they are doing because every time I get my car back it feels better. I really appreciate what Thomas is doing with his shop, excellent customer service, OEM parts for my audi, loaner car and they will even go get your car if you at unable to drop it by! "My Mercedes Benz C230 had been having a lot of trouble lately & since my warranty had already run out I wanted to price around Austin for a less expensive service center. The Mercedes Benz dealership was so overpriced and after speaking with a few colleagues, I decided to give Luxury Auto Works a try. For example, the Benz dealership quoted me about $750 for the work I needed done, Luxury did the same job for $450, plus they gave me a free loaner car. The professional staff was helpful & friendly. I felt very comfortable and at ease as their certified technicians explained to me what was wrong with my Mercedes. They quoted me a fraction of the cost the Mercedes Benz dealership as noted above, and I was extremely happy with the work completed. I was also happy to hear they work on other luxury brands and will be bringing my Lexus ES350 next week. read more

Quality and honest work but at exorbitant dealership prices. I came to LAWs to get a CEL checked, but I already knew it implied replacing the water pump assembly in my Audi. For months, I had extensively researched the job, considered doing the work myself, and spoke with both Audi North and South Austin about it. However, I was tired of dealing with the dealerships after a few experiences of up-selling and attempts to over-charge. So I was ready to find an independent shop that gets the job done and won't try to price gouge me. Based on a BMW friend's recommendation and reading these Yelp reviews about great service and price, I was already sold on LAWs before I arrived, but I was dead wrong... I was quoted $1179 for the job, but I had a dealership quote of $994. Not only that, I had a verbal agreement from my service advisor at the dealership they will do it for $900. Telling LAWs this, I was not taken seriously and of course they made me produce proof. I ended up sharing pictures of my only paper quote to LAWs, but then they argued my quote was only worded "water pump" replacement, and not "water pump assembly". From verbal conversation, I knew Audi was replacing the assembly, but since its not worded in that way, they basically said the quote is to replace a lesser part. LAWs lowered their quote to $1050 (not even matching dealership's quote) and basically gave me the choice to either decline and pickup my car after paying ~$180 diagnostic fee, or do the work for $1050. Really not much of a choice right? I agreed to the work but also noted I am extremely disappointed at the pricing, and it will be reflected in a review. Shortly after I authorized the work, I get a call from Thomas the owner, who starts off of by saying I should come get my car and pay the diagnostic fee, because he doesn't need customers like me. Wowww... This is already the second time I hear "you should just come pick up your car", first time was from the reception woman when I first questioned their pricing. Thomas said I was too rude with the first two ladies I spoke with and he obviously didn't appreciate me talking about leaving a review. I did apologize for me being short tempered about the pricing, but frankly - how is it that a highly reviewed independent shop is charging more than a stealership? My expectations were completely wrong. After smoothing things out a bit with Thomas, and when he told me their are actually doing a coolant flush instead of just a coolant top up, I again agreed to the work. Long story short, there are things I really liked about LAWs (i.e. their inspection report was excellent with pictures, the store is very clean, the staff was generally very courteous) but this shop immediately tried to give me the boot for not being happy with their pricing. As they explained it, LAWs charges "book time" for labor (at $119/hour), plus MSRP for the parts, plus additional non-descriptive shop fees. This is exactly what dealerships do, and this is why stealerships end up quoting back exorbitant prices instead of reasonable price for work complexity and time spent. To help offset the price, I did initially offer to buy and bring in my own OEM parts (god knows I get them much less than MSRP) but LAWs won't install customer brought in parts either because they offer a 3 year 36K miles warranty on them. In conclusion, I still appreciate the job well done at LAWs but this shop charges no differently than a dealership, and I highly regret not getting a quote ahead of time and ever coming here. At basically the same (or even higher) price, I'd rather go with the dealership again where there's at least some recourse with Audi corporate if something doesn't go right. read more

I have had my Mercedes about 6 years and have put about 95,000 miles on it. I've found that the Mercedes dealership and other service centers will see the high mileage as an excuse to tell me I need all sorts of work done costing me a bundle. I took my car to Luxury Auto Works and had a completely different experience!! I took a tour of their service center and got to meet the technician that would be working on my car. They gave me a loaner to use while they looked over my car and called me as soon as it was ready. My technician, Thomas, talked me through everything that needed to be done and then quoted me a price that was several hundred dollars less than the dealership had quoted me. I have complete trust in Luxury Auto Works and won't be taking my car anywhere else! read more

I've taken my 2007 Audi to four different repair shops over the past three years to have the oil changed. At least one time per repair shop within a couple of days or a couple of weeks after the oil change, I would discover oil leaking through the splash guard onto my garage floor. The last time I found oil leaking again I tried notifying the repair shop I used to change my oil and discovered they had sold their business to Luxury Auto Works. I called them to see if they would honor the work the previous shop performed and without hesitation Thomas told me to bring my car in and they'd handle it for me. I told them this was a chronic problem. Long story short, Casey, the mechanic assigned to my car was the first person to diagnose the problem as a warped oil pan and working with Danielle, their warranty claims expert, Thomas, Casey, and Danielle were able to get the my extended warranty company (EWC) to cover the repair in full. Casey also found a couple of other oil leaks (valve cover gaskets and two cylinder head timing cover seals) that no one else discovered and once again the team got the work covered by my EWC. My EWC took a week to approve the claim and Luxury Auto Works was gracious about allowing me to use a courtesy vehicle until my car was ready to go a day and a half after the claim was approved. The oil leak problem is finally solved. The only other thing I can say is that the team I dealt with were patient, respectful, persistent with my EWC. I never experienced this level of service or focus on customer satisfaction. This will be the only repair shop I use in the future. read more

Excellent customer service. This was my first visit to Luxury Auto Works, I had several things done on my vehicle, all was completed in the same day. I also received a loaner vehicle. I also had an issue with my vehicle right after a repair was done at another shop. That shop has since been bought by luxury auto works. Thomas, the owner of Luxury Auto Works called me and immediately solved the issue w/o hesitation. This is what you call excellent customer service. The Luxury Auto Works lobby is extremely clean. I need someone who will shoot me straight! When I found Luxury Auto Works I knew I was in Auto Shop heaven (there is such a thing!) Luxury Auto Works was very professional, direct, to the point & honest. The service center was clean and comfortable so I actually wanted to be with the technicians for a bit before leaving in the loaner vehicle as they explained to me what the problem was with my car. I called to get an estimate for an oil change and transmission fluid change for a 2010 VW Jetta TDI. The lady that answered would not run an estimate without the VIN number despite me telling her exactly which make, model, engine, and transmission I had in the car. After pointing out that I didn't have the VIN number as my car wasn't nearby, she huffed and puffed and said she would see what she could do. 30 min later I receive a call back saying they had to call other shops to get an estimate for the work and they were quoting me a price "a bit lower than the other shops to make sure you get the best deal." I don't know what kind of auto repair shop can't give an estimate for an oil change and transmission flush without calling to consult other mechanics, but it strikes me as a clear sign of incompetence.
