Truly had an amazing experience here! Came here for a date night with my husband and the food and service were both amazing. The weather was absolutely perfect the evening we came so we sat outside which I honestly preferred because a) it was such a nice ambiance and b) the inside was pretty loud. We started with a bottle of champagne -- can't go wrong there. For appetizer we got the Burrata and the Yellowtail Crudo. The ONLY thing that I didn't care for on the Burrata was that it came with mushrooms which I felt like didn't really go with the dish. Other than that it was great and the sushi dish was also wonderful. For dinner my husband got a Filet Mignon and I got the Spicy Pasta Alla Vodka with Chicken. Both dishes were excellent. I did find it a bit odd that the chicken for my pasta came on a separate plate but it was so flavorful despite just being a plain piece of chicken and also I was easily able to cut it up and put in my pasta so I'm not complaining on that (and oh, btw, the pasta was SO good!). The Filet came with a roasted bulb of garlic which was so good and a very nice touch to the dish. We also ordered a side of broccolini -- so good. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Hazelnut Cake which I really loved because it wasn't overly sweet which a lot of desserts are. The lamb chops tasted plastic and the branzino tasted like I was eating a charred grill. The tune crisps and whipped eggplant was the only plate actually worth eating. I wish I could give this place zero stars. The ambiance is nice but that's where it ends. The drinks are very overpriced and the portion sizes are small with no flavor. The pasta as well as the mash potatoes are too salty. The security guard pushed me out the door when I stepped in looking for all my friends for my birthday dinner. How disgustingly rude. The manager also came up and stated I need to change clothes in order to enter or only sit at the bar. Based off other reviews, many have experienced the same. I think I wanted this place to be better with how much it costs. The vibes are amazing once you make it in the door but I think I was a little put off by the door man asking us if we had a reservation before he even opened the door as if he was a bouncer or something. The hostesses were also pretty rude. Our waitress made up for it by being amazing, but the kitchen was pretty slow. The food was a solid 8/10 for me. I think I just expected to be blown away and I wasn't so I left feeling disappointed. The drinks are also very expensive (even for Dallas). The truffle fries were a good portion for four people to split and my pasta was good but not anything special. Overall I don't know if I would come back in the future for dinner. When I first walked in it definitely gave me LA vibes, which I love!!! The inside was super pretty and the service was incredibly good and attentive. All the staff was super friendly. I got the Santorini sunset drink and it was WONDERFUL!! We also started with the burrata, 10/10 and the whipped eggplant, maybe 7/10. I ordered the chicken balsamic, however, as much as I wanted to like it, the chicken was very dry and inedible that only had balsamic drizzled on it but had no other flavor. I ended up sending it back and replacing it with the truffle pasta which was a 1000/10. There was nothing wrong with the service or the food, it was great, but the chicken wasn't worth it at all! We had an 8:15 reservation and when we arrived at 8:10 we were told 20-25 minutes so didn't start out too hot but we found a spot at the bar and just went with that so that we didn't have to wait. Service at the host stand - not great. Service at the bar was outstanding, both bartenders who helped us were great. First and foremost, my wife and I loved this place but inside is *loud*. Not the place to come if you're trying to have a romantic dinner with a lot of conversation. That being said, the place is a whole vibe. Interior was redone extremely well, well lit, nice bar, tables and decorations are done well. We started off with a couple drinks, I tried the last train to Madrid which has both knob Creek and cab sauv, it was solid, lot of flavor and depth. We started with the whipped eggplant which was by far the best thing we ate. Sprinkled with paprika it's got a ton of flavor and the puccia bread was to die for, piping hot and soft, perfect for tearing apart and dipping. The truffle fries were FIRE, the roasted garlic aioli for dipping was the star. For mains we got the truffle carbonara and the feta salmon. Salmon was done to a really nice temp, quinoa was decent, could've used some more flavor. Tried out this new spot on Mckinney where Primos once was, and while it was not what I was expecting, it didn't disappoint. Definitely a vibe-y spot with gorgeous decor. The music was turned up pretty loud and I found it hard to hear, especially with the tiled floor and reverberations. I was expecting a bit more of a toned down atmosphere, but hey, I'll take what they give and mark this as more of a 'going out' spot rather than a calm and romantic dinner. Service- definitely the high point. Our server was so attentive and kept checking in. The kitchen did seem to be backed up or having an issue, but she handled it so beautifully so props to her! Food- I loved my farm salad. While I thought the $11 salmon add on was a bit expensive when I saw the menu, when it came out it was much more than expected and cooked perfectly so the price was justified. Truffle fries, while also steep, they were great and portioned that a table of four could easily share one serving. Lyla is a beautiful restaurant in a prime location that unfortunately misses the mark on food. My friend and I tried 3 different dishes: the whipped eggplant, Caesar salad and the spicy orecchiette (vodka sauce). The whipped eggplant was surprisingly good, I'd definitely order it again. The warm pita has oil and crusty salt and pairs perfectly with the dip. Unfortunately the Caesar salad was underdressed and the lettuce tasted old. It was very bitter and hard to eat. The spicy vodka pasta tasted like canned ravioli. Hard to call this restaurant Italian if the pasta is underwhelming. I likely won't be back but if I'm ever in the area and need a place to go, I'd order the whipped eggplant and sit at the bar. Located in uptown slightly south of west village, this new restaurant had an interesting variety of foods for brunch. Hitting all the classic staples, they had some interesting middle eastern flavors mixed in. The decor was very charming with many different tiles, colorful furnishings, and an olive tree centered inside. There's a DJ playing music and it makes the restaurant feel somewhat like a lounge/club. I'd imagine this is received well for the night scene. Brunch was very good. The salmon was fantastic. Large portions on the truffle fries. The eggplant dip was very unique. Our server was very nice but not as present as I would have liked. Management. Lyla was amazing from start to finish! I came here on date night with my partner and this place impressed us both. The ambiance was cute with Southern Italian atmosphere. We were greeted by our hostess upon check-in and seated. Would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance regardless of the day. For apps, the truffle fries and the whipped eggplant were both very tasty. The fries came with a great house sauce and the portion was huge. The whipped eggplant came with bread that was really good and light. For drinks, we each got the Santorini Sunset and the Tour de France. The Santorini Sunset was very refreshing and Tour de France was sweet and bit juicy - if that's what you're going for. We were full afterward so shared the Spicy Orecchiette with Shrimp which paired great. It was a perfect amount of food for the two of us. Would highly recommend this place for date night. We didn't have a reservation so we had to sit in the patio but to be honest I preferred it. The inside was so loud I didn't know if I would be able to hear my friend. There was a lot going on. However, this restaurant deserves 5 stars through and through. Service was amazing. They got us a seat quick because the host was extremely persistent to get us sat fast. I loved the views where we were sitting. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything I had was definitely worth the money and the Lyla drink was so refreshing. Matter of fact, all the drinks I tried were refreshing. Out of the pictures in my review I am not sure which one was my favorite because they were all delicious! This place was so mid. Actually, it was worse than mid. There is nothing special about it. I made a reservation for Valentine's Day thinking it would be good Italian food. NOPE. We're seated and about 10 minuets later we're finally greeted by the waitress and told it's a fixed menu which was a disappointment after seeing the options. We're then told the kitchen is backed up by about 45 minuets.. not sure how when they were only offering 4 entrees.... Therefore we decided to put our order in with the our drinks. The spaghetti had no flavor and tasted like the sauce was from a can. Then the chicken Piccata was the driest and most bland little piece of chicken possible but then covered in sauce to help mask the dryness. Lastly, the "dessert" was literally store bought cupcakes... my bill was $250.. worst money I've spent at a restaurant. I will not return nor recommend. This place was overall just bad. If you want good food, not at all. The waiter also served me nuts after I told him that I had a nut allergy. Then he blamed all of his mistakes on the food runner. Several mistakes were made. You can only split a bill of any size two ways, no cash. My friends brought me birthday presents and had to leave them in the coat closet, they weren't aloud to bring a gift bag and a bouquet of flowers as it would ruin the aesthetic of their restaurent... ok. After eating here I can understand the previous reviews. You pay for the ambiance and the atmosphere. The service was attentive and courteous so there was no complaints there. Our server helped us with the menu and was knowledgeable . Very nice restaurant and decorated well however the spaghetti was a miss for me . There are two different spaghetti's on the menu but I chose the bolognese with Housemade Beef and Pork Bolognese Sauce, Tomato, Red Wine, Parmesan Cheese, Parsley. If you are a bolognese fan may be this is for you , just something about the taste didn't set right with me. I'm definitely open to returning and trying something else but the price of the meals is on the pricier side. I would hope for something better next visit to make a more concrete review on the food. First experience here was phenomenal from the service to the food. Everything was amazing. Second time around was the complete opposite. Service was still great but the food was far from the first experience. I always try to give a restaurant a couple chances before giving my thoughts but the inconsistency here was just really disappointing. Burrata: it was good, nice touch with the truffle and mushrooms. Little gem Caesar salad: was all the outside of the lettuce leaf. So it was a bit soggy instead of crunchy. Spicy tuna crispy rice: first time the rice was perfectly crispy and had this amazing sauce. Ordered it again and the rice was so chewy, lacked the crisp from the first time. Spicy Orecchiette: this was so bomb the first time, with perfectly spicy pink sauce. We talked about it for days after trying it! Second time it tasted like plain tomato sauce with no seasoning or salt. Completely flavorless. I was the most disappointed with this dish. Truffle carbonara: again the first time it was a light egg based sauce with the truffle. Wasn't my favorite dish but still good. Second time around it tasted like truffle Alfredo sauce. It was so heavy on the cream sauce that you couldn't taste anything else. NY strip: this was also very mediocre, most of the pieces were very fatty and just lacked flavor. read more

Their food is delicious, you have to get the whipped eggplant appetizer if you go, it is unique to Lyla and light and airy while still being savory. They have a solid drink menu and the atmosphere is very chic, great for a date night or girls night. read more

I visited this restaurant for my third wedding anniversary. While the place looks amazing and the service is excellent, the food was very mediocre. The drinks were not well-balanced, and my appetizer, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, was literally burnt. When I asked the server about it, they said it comes charred and is supposed to taste a little bitter, offering to bring more yogurt to make it less bitter. I have attached a picture as proof. We expected better, especially for the price we were paying. I had ordered my food along with the appetizer, so I couldn't leave, but I was also not happy with the pasta and pizza. It feels like the management is more focused on the ambiance and look rather than the most important thing: the food. I don't know if it's related, but both my wife and I experienced stomach pains and diarrhea after coming home. Overall, I felt bad and unsatisfied after spending around $200. I have never written a bad review like this, but apart from the good appearance, nothing was good here. read more
