The appetizers.. delicious! The whipped eggplant was the best thing I tasted all night. The Caesar was perfect, the dressing had the right amount of bite to it. The entree sizing was off.. was not anything like the pictures. I was thrown off by the child like portion I received for the shrimp pasta, not to mention there where crunchy bits all through out which was very different. I hosted a bridal shower at over the weekend. Long story short, we had a very last-minute situation where we had to move our event from one of their restaurants so we were scrambling to figure things out and make it work. I just want to say that every single one of the staff involved was absolutely phenomenal, especially America, Gerson, and manager Angie - and the venue was beautiful. We were scrambling to get everything set up on time and multiple staff members came out and helped us with setting up decor, even our balloon arch that we weren't sure was going to work in the new space. The staff made us and every guest feel like a VIP and my friend couldn't get over how wonderful the shower was. We were on the front patio which has a lovely modern tropical vibe that was perfect with our decor. It also has an enclosure and heaters, so even though it was a slightly windy chilly day it worked out perfectly. Everyone went above and beyond, and they let us stay in the event space an hour over our scheduled time and then helped us move to another smaller spot so that my friend could finish opening her gifts while they cleaned up the event space for us. America personally took so much time making sure that every single need we had was taken care of and that we didn't stress or worry about anything. The staff even had a great time, listening into some of our bridal shower games and taking part in the joy of the party. We were initially so stressed when we were told last minute that our event was being moved to another location, but truly it couldn't have worked out better. We ended up getting an even better experience than we probably would've to begin with. I only wish that every time I hosted a party or event that I could have such attentive staff and such a great experience. My friend and I were looking for a cute place to have brunch when we came across Lyla on Instagram. The restaurant's interior and exterior are very pretty; I love the aesthetic. We ordered the brunch sandwich, the truffle carbonara, and a few cocktails. Both the dishes and drinks were great. Ambiance: Lyla has a very clean, simple feel. I was expecting the restaurant to have better decor as the tables/chairs made it feel a bit casual rather than elegant. But overall chic and nice. I rate the ambiance 8.6/10 Food: I was really excited to try the food, specifically the whipped eggplant (which was delish). I also tried the truffle carbonara and the rack of lamb. Was disappointed with the carbonara- as it wasn't a carbonara it was more similar to a mac n cheese. I love mac n cheese but was expecting a different flavor profile- one that matched a carbonara. However, the rack of lamb was excellent. It came topped with fig jam which pairs excellent with the lamb- one of the best lamb dishes I have ever tried and definitely recommend this dish more than anything! The cocktails were yummy too. This was such a disappointing birthday dinner experience. I was SO excited to come here as it looks so aesthetic from the outside but I should have listened to the yelp community because clearly everyone has been disappointed by Lyla. Overall, the interiors are adorable. They put a lot of time into decorating and creating a nice aesthetic for the place. They should have taken an equal amount of time to curate a good menu and learn how to service people better. The food was fine, at best. The portions were small for the price. The eggplant dip tastes like hummus. The carbonara left the person eating it still hungry for a second meal. The service for a birthday dinner was disappointing. You are not allowed to bring your own dessert and they did not even offer a birthday treat. The waitress said "we can put a candle on a dessert that you buy here". For the price of this establishment I was expecting a bit more excitement for a special day. We're just don't hit that target demographic. We were seated at a cozy two-top, but the four-top next to us was angled so that one diner's back was practically in our laps. The service was attentive, the drinks were fine, and the food was passable. The chicken piccata had a flavorful sauce but the chicken itself was dry. The frisée salad was dry too. Dallas has too many truly great restaurants for us to spend another evening here. It's also not spicy at all. The carbonara was good. We added protein to our pasta which was $8 for chicken, $15 for salmon and $12 for shrimp. The waiter gave us some amazing suggestions from the menu that I was really impressed with. The crispy rice tuna was great and just enough as an appetizer. I rarely do this but I actually sent it back because it was inedible. It left a sour taste for me so I just skipped the main and went to dessert. The spicy orecchiette is a 5/10. The pasta tasted like a Campbell soup can. Worst spicy vodka sauce I've ever had. Like it's definitely tomato based but I wouldn't be so keen to call it spicy vodka. Go to il bracco in Dallas if you want good spicy vodka pasta. Also the pasta texture varied throughout the dish... did y'all boil this pasta together or is this a blended family of pasta that cooked at different times. Drinks were good, star of the dinner lmao. THIS WAS SIMPLY AMAZING! Everything from start to finish was so flavorful. Firstly, we were greeted by the friendliest waiter who was making great recommendations for the table and telling us about his personal favorites. We decided to start with some of the cocktails (the Lyla was my personal favorite, it was very refreshing and the presentation was stunning). Then we got the Brussels sprouts, truffle fries, and whipped eggplant for appetizers. The whipped eggplant came with a homemade puffed pita bread which was so fluffy and really flavorful paired with the whipped eggplant. The Brussels sprouts were also stellar with great crisp and refreshing touch of pomegranate. For the main course, I ordered the salmon which was AMAZING. The salmon sits on a bed of quinoa and yogurt/feta sauce. I usually don't love quinoa since it can be pretty dry but this was so well prepared and seasoned. The salmon was cooked to perfection with a crispy crust and moist inside. Finally, we ended the night with the affogato and hazelnut dessert. The affogato was the star of the desserts with a delicious, creamy pistachio ice cream and great coffee. The hazelnut dessert was amazing but definitely on the heavier side. Truly had an amazing experience here! Came here for a date night with my husband and the food and service were both amazing. The weather was absolutely perfect the evening we came so we sat outside which I honestly preferred because a) it was such a nice ambiance and b) the inside was pretty loud. We started with a bottle of champagne -- can't go wrong there. For appetizer we got the Burrata and the Yellowtail Crudo. The ONLY thing that I didn't care for on the Burrata was that it came with mushrooms which I felt like didn't really go with the dish. Other than that it was great and the sushi dish was also wonderful. For dinner my husband got a Filet Mignon and I got the Spicy Pasta Alla Vodka with Chicken. Both dishes were excellent. I did find it a bit odd that the chicken for my pasta came on a separate plate but it was so flavorful despite just being a plain piece of chicken and also I was easily able to cut it up and put in my pasta so I'm not complaining on that (and oh, btw, the pasta was SO good!). The Filet came with a roasted bulb of garlic which was so good and a very nice touch to the dish. We also ordered a side of broccolini -- so good. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Hazelnut Cake which I really loved because it wasn't overly sweet which a lot of desserts are.
