    Lysee

An interesting but pricey bakery. I did the dine in on the first floor. Takeout is on the second floor. Service was great. The signature lysee and corn were tasty with unique flavors. The seasonal mango tart was typical flavor. Good to try at least once.

I've been to Lysee 3 times during the times I came to visit New York. It is truly a unique, classy experience. Ideally you'd need a reservation to dine in. Downstairs is a small room that has a few seats (~5 small tablets that can seat 2 people, at most 3 but it may be tight). There is a back room that is private with a bench seat that's good for a small family. Upstairs is the gallery and you can purchase pastries and other products (thermos, book) to go. If you get a chance to try the mushroom quiche, it is the only savory item on the menu and only there for a remaining limited time. Components : French Isigny AOP Certificated Butter Puff Pastry, Various Seasonal Mushroom (Hen of the Wood, Pyogo, Oyster), Salted Egg Yolk Gel, Ganjang Creme Fraiche Sauce I have never tasted a mushroom so umami. It was like a warm hug on my tongue. The inside egg is so creamy and light. The exterior is a crisp flaky shell that bundles up the whole quiche tenderly. Topped with equal-cut pieces of scallion complements the whole thing so well. One of the newer seasonal items I tried this time is the strawberry-rubarb tart topped with gelatin and an edible flower. Components: Honey Cream, Harry's Berries Strawberries & Jam, Almond Cream Tart, Rhubarb Gelé. A thin chocolate shell encircles the tart. During my previous visits, I did get to try the classic Lysee and Corn mousse cakes, which were delectable in addition to being beautiful. The corn is a must-have. I remember havin the petit jardin but I think it was not my favorite because of how tart/sour it was; just wasn't my preferred level of sourness - compared to the Strawberry-Rubarb which had the chocolate to balance it out. In terms of pastries to-go, I have tried the Lysee Cake Collection of mini cakes (Yuja, Marble, Carrot), which are really delicious! I'll be honest, I couldn't REALLY tell the difference between the cakes but they were not too sweet, which is how I like it. Most recently, I tried the Gateaux Collection, which I highly recommend if you want a little bit of everything in terms of assorted cookies and cakes. Components : Pecan Financier, Coco-Passion Madeleine, Milk Chocolate-Hazelnut Teddy bear, Milk Chocolate Banana Cookie, Matcha-Strawberry Cookie, Chocolate Shortbread Cookies (2), Experimental Shortbread Cookies (2), Yakgwa (Korean honey cake). My favorite were the shortbread cookies, which you can order separately too. You can't go wrong with any of these sets. Surprisingly filling with such delicate little wonders! I have tried three different drinks which have all been big hits. Étoile de l'Inde, magnolia brown rice green tea, and yangchon brewery chungju. I highly recommend all of these. The brown rice green tea is light.

Very high end patisserie with Korean ingredients. Thinking the corn one was going to be my favorite, actually the winter citrus tart absolutely blew me away. It was the most perfect tart that I could easily see in a Michelin restaurant. I liked the corn but I've been getting corn fatigue lately because it seems like all the Asian spots are using it. Personally I just thought it was too much. The chocolate dessert was yummy as well and not too sweet. But the winter citrus tart was just on another level. I also like how they use fish gelatin. I definitely feel like the fish gelatin makes the desserts softer and smoother compared to normal gelatin. The cinnamon ginger chai like latte I had was so yummy. The teas served in a cute setting were so cute. Tea definitely goes better with the desserts than the latte. Service was so nice and attentive as well.

I feel like pretty desserts usually are lacking in the taste department, but these were all pretty tasty as well! I was so intrigued by the corn, and thought that would be my favorite. And it was really good! The corn was super subtle and light. But I wasn't the biggest fan of the texture in the middle. And the lysee actually ended up being my favorite! I can see why it's the signature! It definitely has a strong nutty flavor though. The milk chocolate banana cookie ended up being a big favorite too. The banana flavor was pretty strong which we liked. The matcha strawberry cookie was also really good! The strawberry jam was sooo good, but it kind of covered the matcha flavor.

I came with two friends around 12PM Saturday for a quick catch-up without a reservation, and the next available time wasn't until 2:45 PM. Highly recommend making a reservation if you're planning to dine in. The second floor is for takeout, and it's a really modern, minimalist space filled with delicately displayed pastries -- we picked up the corn and Lysee pastries. The corn mousse was smooth with just a touch of sweetness, contrasted by a caramelized corn at the bottom. The Lysee also had a cream that wasn't too sweet, and the nut layer at the base vaguely reminded me of a Ferrero Rocher. Both are very elegant, but I'd say the corn is a bit more unique. They're definitely pricey as well but worth trying at least once.

Granola texture and flavor were amazing

Our first meal in NYC was Lysee for the prix fixed brunch. The granola was delicious and I really enjoyed both of the savory mains. SMOKED SALMON Avocado Sandwich with Laminated Bread, Creme Fraiche MUSHROOM QUICHE Various Seasonal Mushroom (Hen of the Wood, Pyogo, Oyster), Salted Egg Yolk Gel, Chive, Ganjang Creme Fraiche Sauce Quiche was super unique and was filling and balanced out the rest of the meal. 2nd floor had all the pasties laid out to be photographed! Loved the experience.

If I could give Lysee six stars I would. What an extraordinary museum of edible art ... there is no other way to describe it. The flavors, textures and colors are sublime, complex and satisfying, without being too sweet. There are other entremet bakeries in the area but none of them even come close to the delicate quality of the output at Lysee. I know, it's expensive. But in my mind, worth every penny. As a tourist foodie, I highly recommend Lysee when you're in NYC.

I've never been much of a dessert person but Lysee changed that for me years ago. On my recent return visit, I was so impressed that I actually carried a box of their treats all the way from New York to Los Angeles! The Evolution: It's been a few years since my last visit and it's wonderful to see how much they've grown. The selection has expanded significantly, yet they've managed to maintain and even elevate the exceptional quality and consistency they are known for. The Standout: While everything they make is a masterpiece, the signature "LYSEE" (their namesake corn mousse cake) remains my absolute favorite. The balance of textures and the subtle, refined sweetness are unmatched. It's the dish that first opened my eyes to the world of high-end pastry. Verdict: Lysee isn't just a bakery; it's a destination for anyone who appreciates culinary art. My only complaint is that they aren't in LA yet! If you're in NYC, this is an absolute must-visit--even for those who don't think they have a sweet tooth.

LYSÉE is truly a work of art. You can tell every pastry is crafted with immense care and precision--which makes sense given Chef Eunji Lee's background as a Michelin-starred pastry chef. What I appreciate most is that the treats are not overly sweet; the flavors are balanced and refined. The Corn pastry was easily my favorite--it's a creative masterpiece. The layout is unique: the second floor feels like a high-end museum where they showcase the offerings for takeout. If you want to dine in, the first floor is beautiful but very intimate with limited seating. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance to avoid a long wait. It is a bit pricey, but for the quality and craftsmanship, it's a wonderful treat to indulge in once in a while.

Wow! Blown away by the corn cake! Might be a bit biased but I love corn anything! Also very sweet of the staff to put a candle on it for my partner's birthday! The ambiance was modern and perfect for a day date! Would highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time to dine in!

Very decadent and rich in taste. I got the individual portion desserts, the corn, lysee, and mille feuille. The corn was surprising, made mostly with corn. Unique taste, but very rich. Same for lysee, very rich taste with the toasted rice flavors. The one I had may have been a bit too toasted, it had some bitter notes mixed in with savory and little bit sweet. Mille feuille was my favorite, but it was so big. Most desserts I think can be split with 4 people, I shared it with one other. My ranking would be mille feuille, corn, then lysee. Interior has very limited seating on first floor, looks like needs reservation to sit in. Second floor is the gallery and order for pick up. Service was rather quick, I thought there would be a huge line in the morning hours, but only a few in front of us for ordering. Staff are professional and work quick. I'm glad I tried it, I may consider coming back to try the others I saw

Back again... The desserts and pastries here at this bakery are exceptional in every way . Just remember you get what you pay for . It is worth it. We bought the Madeline's flight . So incredibly fresh and delicious you can taste every single ingredient . There is love in them, their pastries

What. An. Experience. I don't think I've ever had anything like it. Being a fan of desserts, I absolutely love the idea of a "museum of desserts". It's so enticing to have them on display, too, and made me want one of everything!! I had to make a tough choice, but went with the lysee, the corn, almond croissant, and pecan financiers. O.M.G. Not only do they look sensational, but they taste it as well. The variety of textures, the layers of expertise, the mix of flavors, it was all there. And to top it all off, I accompanied it with a sweet potato latte!! No tea, no coffee, just pure sweet potato - how cool is that??? Delicious and extraordinary. The lysee was the table favorite, I was expecting more of a punch of corn but it was quite subtle, the almond interior of the croissant was soft and creamy, and the pecan financiers were such a sleeper hit. All stunning works of art.

If i can't get a reservation, can i still purchase items to go?

Yes you can! When you arrive, tell the host that you're there to get items to go. They will then let you proceed to the 2nd floor where you can view the desserts on display and purchase items to go. Highly recommend you go on a weekday before 2 or 3…

If i have a reservation but have a bigger party than what the reservation is for, do you recommend just doing take out? Should i cancel the reservation or keep it?

It's a tiny place , maybe 10 seats all together. So unless there are cancellations I recommend to get up to the second floor buy and ahead of time locate a park or indoor…

I'd you have a reservation, do you have to eat everything at the table or can you order things to go?

Hi Kelsey, You are absolutely able to order items to go, or pack items you were unable to finish…

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
