I heard from the grapevine that this place has the best wings in Greenville, South Carolina, so I had to try them to see for myself. We encountered the most friendliest service ever as the guy at the register had the best sense of humor, I mean really I felt like I was at a comedy spot. This just means he loves his job and serving his customers. The sign says they have plenty to choose from and they absolutely do have plenty to choose from. As I was sitting waiting for my order the guest before us ordered a cup of the famous pineapple sweet tea to go then after tasting it they came back in and ordered a gallon of the pineapple sweet tea. I was impressed because I heard her say she didn't like flavored tea. I ordered 6 lemon pepper wings and 6 garlic Parmesan wings with fried okra and Mac and cheese and southern cornbread muffin. I made sure I ordered the pineapple sweet tea. The wings were OK, I enjoyed the garlic parmesan better than the lemon pepper wings. The lemon pepper wings have a very strong lemon taste which wasn't horrible just overly strong for me. The fried okra had a good flavor and the mac and cheese was to die for I enjoyed the pineapple sweet tea the most. I wanted to try the peach cobbler for dessert but they were sold out. We tried M &J's today up for the first time, my nephew and I got the pork chops with gravy. We thought it was smothered pork chops. But It was pork chops, onions, and then gravy on the side. We also got the mac & cheese, collard greens and yellow rice. For the pork chop I thought it taste flavorful it was juicy, It wasn't tough but yet it was salty. For the mac & cheese they need more practice. The greens. The same thing, needs more practice for the collard greens as well. The yellow rice was basic. As a meal, that if I were to eat this at someone's house, that's fine but for a restaurant, I don't think it has the restaurant quality just yet. it taste like a beginners chef meal not yet ready for prime time or to be in a restaurant I thought it was very basic actually and it needs more practice. Ive heard about M&Js for quite a while but hadn't had the time to try it out. Conveniently located close to downtown and Judson with a decent parking lot to get in, I was quickly able to park and go in. Upon walking in I was quickly greeted. I already knew what I wanted upon viewing the menu from Yelp, but I took a quick glance at the readily available menu at the counter and was asked by the person working if I was ready to order. I quickly spat out my order of the meat and three. Six wings Southern style with fried okra, mac and cheese, and rice with gravy. A customer behind me asked if the mac and cheese was good and I said this was my first time. Both the customer and person working were surprised at how quickly and confidently I had ordered. Haha. (Say your order with confidence, people.) The wait was probably about 15 to 20 minutes since I just walked in and ordered. There were good amount of people consistently walking in and out to order to go. First look of my food and I started salivating. The chicken was so crispy. The mac and cheese did not look dry at all and the okra was crispy but not hard. The rice surprised me. I was expecting regular white rice and brown gravy, but I was given a yellow rice with bits of bell peppers in it and it was deliciously flavored! I can't wait to go back and try the other options. The Cornbread : Good flavor, but a bit dry. ***What took this rating from a 4 to a 5... The Potato Salad : Absolutely delicious!! Simple, yet so good! I like eggs in my potato salad, but this has none and it is still good. I only eat my families potato salad, but I was told to try this, and it is a winner! I came here during lunch hours. I ordered the fried chicken breast plate with okra and mac and cheese. I also ordered their pineapple sweet tea and a piece of pound cake. The chicken breast was boneless and was pretty good. The mac and cheese was delicious. I was excited that the mac and cheese was good because I've had a hard time finding really good mac and cheese in the greenville area. The okra was too salty and fried a little too hard for me. The pineapple tea was different but was good and the pound cake was delicious and moist. The restaurant is small and has approximately 5-8 tables. The cashier was friendly. The only thing that I did not like was that I waited 30-40 minutes for my food. I will just call in and order next time to avoid a long wait. I look forward to trying their wings next. read more
