Grilled Lamb Ribs Double (For One)
    Anna S.

Had a great meal at M Joy and will definitely be coming back! The lamb rib set meal was absolutely delicious--the grilled lamb ribs were tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. I especially loved pairing them with the chili sauce and onions. The rice that came with the set was surprisingly flavorful too and complemented everything perfectly. Another standout was the salted milk tea. It was my first time trying it, and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I ended up loving it! It has a rich, creamy texture that's almost like a savory soup, yet it's unique, comforting, and incredibly tasty. Service was fast and efficient, and I really appreciated how convenient the ordering process was. You can scan the QR code at the table to place your order and even pay directly through your phone, which made the whole experience seamless. If you're visiting M Joy, I highly recommend the lamb rib set and don't skip the salted milk tea!

Lamb Rib And Shank (For One)

Went to check out Mjoy the other day. The restaurant is pretty small, probably only 5 or 6 tables, and the menu is fairly limited. They seem to focus heavily on lamb, which immediately caught my attention. I ordered the lamb shank and rib combo which comes over rice with a side of carrots, pickled onions, and a bowl of lamb broth. The lamb shank and rib were tender as hell. The pickled vegetables helped cut through the richness and kept everything balanced. The rice was soaked with the lamb juices so it was packed with flavor. The broth was light in texture but definitely heavy on lamb flavor. I also ordered the braised lamb foot which ended up being surprisingly good. Soft, rich, and full of collagen. The whole meal kind of reminded me of Hainan chicken rice, but with lamb instead of chicken. Overall it was delicious and something different from the usual lamb dishes you find around the SGV. I can definitely see myself coming back and ordering it again.

I had a lovely experience at M Joy (San Gabriel). I ordered the Lamb Shank ($21.49). It includes a plump, juicy lamb shank, rice refills, and lamb bone soup refills. WOW! I devoured that incredible, filling meal. (Important: There's an added 12% service charge for dine-in. And there's a one hour dining period limit for customers.) I arrived at M Joy (San Gabriel) on Thursday (around 11:21AM). Parking is easy. There's an underground parking structure with plenty of spots. Customers order via QR Code. Customers scan the code at the table, and customers tap the options on their phone. Staff is very hardworking and professional. Staff (Kyle) worked quickly, accurately, and attentively. Kyle spoke Mandarin and English, and Kyle politely answered all my questions. Kyle worked hard; Kyle is an AMAZING staff member. My food took six minutes and 13 seconds. Very fast!! As mentioned, I ordered the Lamb Shank ($21.49). TASTY!! The lamb is MASSIVE and it falls seductively off the bone. Each bite tasted tender and satisfying. I felt my eyes widen as it softly broke apart with each bite. JUICY! The rice is also hot and fluffy, and the soup is clean and refreshing. I felt happy. On ambiance, M Joy (San Gabriel) is very clean and cozy. It fits about six small tables. There's soft instrumental music, and its tall ceiling makes the location appear more spacious. There's no hand sanitizer bottle nor inside restroom, but Staff does offer the restroom key for one that's nearby. However, this location is family friendly with its nearby stack of children high chairs. Overall, I had a magical experience at M Joy (San Gabriel). This location surpassed all expectations. It's no wonder why this business was featured in the "Los Angeles Times 101 Best Restaurants." If you love juicy, succulent lamb, this is an extremely easy recommendation. 5 out of 5! GO! JUST GO!!!

Really small location, but worth the wait. There is a one hour period to eat because of the size of the restaurant. Ended up ordering the Lamb Rib Double and their specially tea. The lamb may not look like it has any flavor, but it was so delicious on its own. There's only one guy taking orders and serving, so don't expect to go and be friendly with the staff. He's not rude by any means, just busy. They do hand QR codes for the menu in each table and a large one posted by the counter. The tea was good, but might not be my thing. It is pretty milky and a little thicker than normal tea.

This place is more of a 3.5 than a 4 star. 4/5 lamb shank rice was ok. The rice lacked flavor and the lamb was very dry 1/5 the coleslaw is the worse version I've ever had. Do not order this. It tasted like straight oily mayonnaise w/o any other spices added. Not even salt. The dish came with some with veggies and a pretty good lamb broth. Both of which are refillable.

Came here for a late lunch on a Saturday and we luckily did not have trouble getting sat. This is a small establishment that maybe seats like 16 people max so I've heard waits can get a bit excessive. However, its a cute spot and you definitely get a strong waft of lamb when you walk in. M Joy is a specialist restaurant in that they really only have lamb and rice on the menu. We had a party of 3 and ordered a grilled lamb shank, 3 lamb skewers, and a rice plate with shank and rib. They do have some coleslaw as a veggie side but this is the like the Xinjiang meat and potatoes equivalent dish. I really enjoyed the food, the lamb was super succulent and tender. If you like lamb, you will like this establishment but if you don't like lamb, do not come. The grilled lamb shank was my personal favorite with some nice crispy parts along with tender, fatty interior. The lamb skewers were less fatty so a bit tougher but not in a gristley, poor textured way just had the bite of meat. The rice was great and deeply flavored with lamb fat. Apparently, you can also just ask for extra rice and they will provide an extra bowl free of charge. Another great spot in the SGV and glad I got to try it sans wait. We all left feeling very full and ended up skipping dinner (granted we also ate late and had post meal boba, as is the 626 way).

Small cafe located on a corner inside a crowded strip mall among lots of other eateries in a high traffic area of San Gabriel. The name of the game here is lamb. If you look at the menu, it really is lamb prepared in various ways with the two main methods of being braised or grilled. You order from a QR code, but there is a person there to help you as needed. Get the skewers or the grilled shank or ribs if you want that slight char with the spices adorning the dishes. On this visit, I opted for a lamb shank (braised) with rice. At $20.99 as of 01/2026, it might be the best deal for a quality meal that includes lamb shank that I can think of in all of the LA metro area. The rice is plump and firm, flavored from the lamb broth and drippings. There is a cup of the broth served with this dish as well as some other sides of pickled carrots, onions, and chili oil so you can add to the dish for personal taste. Most importantly, the lamb was almost fall off the bone tender and flavorful. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I got a little overexcited, but I ordered their in house made yogurt with raisins (which works as both a dessert and actually a side as well!) and their salty milk tea to wash everything down. Very delicious and comforting. I had to get pretty much half my entree to go because I was stuffed finishing the yogurt and the pot of tea. This is a very popular strip mall/ shopping plaza so parking can be tricky although I always seem to find a spot when I'm here. There's parking underground and a lot towards the back as well. This trip, I actually parked along the street and just walked up a few steps.

Restaurant is located in a plaza area and I was not expecting it to be as good as it actually was if I were to judge it purely based off of looks. Super hole in the wall and comfortable looking. When my group of 5 sat down, we were prompted to order off of our phones using the QR code at the table. Everyone can order and put in their things from their phone and it just adds it onto the tables order. All of us got the lamb shank and rib combo, with some of us paying a bit extra for the grilled option and we also got some lamb skewers to share. Overall everything was delicious and generous in portion! What made it even better was the rice and the sides that came with the main entree. The carrot rice and the picked veggies/sauce paired perfectly with the lamb. Would come back again :)

Located in a small plaza in San Gabriel. They got parking for patrons above and under ground. The shop is rather small. The interior was clean but crammed. Expect some wait time as you arrive, especially on the weekends. The food could be ordered online. The food was served in a timely manner. The freshly cooked lamb meat was tender and fresh. The grilled ribs was delicious without being extremely greasy. The rice platter was very fulfilling. With the amount of food received, the price was very justifiable and reasonable. The experience was good, if the dining space was bigger without being crammed. The service could use a small improvement. It gets a 4.1 out of 5.

    Michelle L.

Ordered delivery from here a few times on Doordash. Great lamb shank and ribs. Love their homemade yogurt so I ordered that again today. Only to find that in one of them there was a half body of a very small bug (seems like a roach, dark body, I saw the legs.) and also found another piece of an unknown thing in there. Scooped it out, took a picture and got a refund from Doordash because that's absolutely disgusting and I threw it out. Restaurant needs to re-evaluate their cleanliness and storing/sealing their food properly to not allow random bugs or things to fall in. As you can see in the photo, the bug and unknown thing is dark and noticeable. I was able to see it just by glancing at the yogurt. The workers were not even thoughtful enough to make sure the yogurt is clean and free of contaminations before serving to their customers. I'm traumatized.

Super tender Rib And Shank (For One)!
    Joan W.

Think Hainan chicken rice but with lamb shank/ribs and that gives you an idea of this restaurant's sole focus: lamb braised or grilled. Their braised lamb shank and ribs come meltingly tender on a bed of rice perfumed with lamb-y deliciousness punctuated by bright carrots. The condiment tray of onions and carrots add a pop of brightness to break through the richness of this dish. For an even more unique experience try the Mongolian style salted milk tea--you'll want it hot as they suggest it because of its rich butteriness. It's a bit salty-sweet. Your order through a QR code that you scan with your cell phone. Service mainly consists of bringing your food out to you. The ambiance is perfunctory but softened with pleasant music playing overhead. A fun food adventure!

    Rib And Shank

This place is really good! We ordered the Rib and Shank which comes with carrot rice. The rib and shank were both super tender, fell off the bone, and really flavorful. I was amazed by how delicious this dish was. The carrot rice had a nice fragrance and was good as well. Highly recommend this dish! We also got the Lamb Shank. This was also super good! It has the similar flavors/seasonings as you would normally taste from a usual Chinese skewers place but more elevated. The lamb was delicious and perfectly cooked. Would also recommend this one as well. It also came with sides like pickled veggies which were tasty. The Lamb Skewers were delicious. Some lamb pieces were juicier than others but were overall pretty good. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. The prices here are reasonable for the quality of food you get. The service was also great. Will definitely be back!

This little gem is a REAL deal!!!!! I'm glad that I've tried it out today Service is oaky, but food is outstanding! 1. Braised Lamb Shank 5-star It's very tender falling off the bone on your 1st bite, yet only wish there's more portion on the meat part... 2. Carrot Rice: 5-star This is served as of a set order w/ refillable lamb broth and slaws of shredded carrot and onion in pickle style. It's crunchy and flavorful. The rice cooked in lamb broth and carrots, it's so satisfied and portion is generous! 3. Lamb Skewers: 3.5-star It's fairly dry and chewy. 4. Grilled Lamb Ribs: 5-star They using the braised lamb to grill it for crispy taste on the outer side yet the inside is still very tender! This version costs you more for about $5-6 than the braised lambs. It's worth it! Unlimited lamb broth to wash down the grease of lamb. Side dish: pickled carrots and red onions are well balanced out your meat portion! This is one of the most delish succulent dining experience for me as of a foodie this year

Initially I rated…read morethis place 3 stars, but over the years we have been regular patrons and have come to love Ji Rong inviting family and friends to celebrate special occasions. The Peking duck is still a stand out. Depending on the amount of people we love adding the signature crispy grouper with the sweet and chill or the short ribs. I love the Chengdu Style Green Bean Jelly. It's spicy numbing with a bit of tartness. They recently revamped their menu adding a lot of new things and their drinks list has grown substantially. Their grilled on the bone beef rib is excellent and new jellyfish appetizer has a wonderful crunch. We haven't tried every menu item because we always get at least one duck which takes up space but we are always aiming to try one new thing each time.

Order your duck and/or lobster 75min or days in advance! 7days minimum needed to RSVP a table…read more(private tables require $400min and credit card on hold for it). Tip: 1 Duck platter order per 8-10ppl is typical (don't get scammed for more) unless you're a foreigner who doesn't share dishes (joke of ordering 1 steam fish for their 1 dish for themself). Duck and Five-Color with Mung Bean Noodle Salad are musts. Best for groups. Overall a decent group dinner place due to price and quality (excellent service, higher quality/cleaner processed food). Is it the best Northern food? No, but decent in Chinese food and priced well which makes this place a repeatable place. But it's not northern chinese food taste. Allows us to bring bday cake and light own candle. No outside drinks (even non-alcoholic). How to RSVP group party and specific dishes -- - They only allow rsvp 7days ahead. - Table: 6ppl Table to add 2 chairs. OR if we take the 8ppl table private room, then we need to spend $400minimally with credit card to be put on RSVP phone can when RSVP. For a party of 8ppl, the non-private room table would be too small for ordering a bunch of dishes. - Order how many Peking Duck orders? "Depends on people but there was a small group that ordered 2, and then a group of 12 that ordered just one." For Chinese banquet style, usually 1 duck order per 8-10ppl is fine. It's like 1 birthday cake for 1 party table. - Ordering lobster dish ($200+$20 noodles) requires ordering early. We were able to order one at 1140amish for our 5pmish Saturday night dinner. We feels it's good to order for 8ppl+. - 2hr dining time limit. Musts - Five-Color with Mung Bean Noodle Salad: Doesn't taste like how it should but guess they tried? - Duct platter is good. For a party of 8ppl, most ppl will be able to grab at least 1-2 which is enough since there's other dishes too. Dinner for 8ppl (over ordered, and ordered via more meat due to meat heavy eater orderer for our group). I would have ordered more veggies (next visit). 1 北京烤鴨 (荷葉餅,配料) $95.00 Roasted Peking Duck 1 加荷叶饼 Extra Pancakes $7.00 (no buns were offered here). 1 鸭汤 Duck Soup $19.98 - Comes with tofu and cabbage in it. It's light, and good to have so you don't need to order a different soup. It's okay though. 1 六福大拼盘 Six Fortune Platter $48.98 - Center jelly fish was the star. Most eaters on my table talked about it. I was pretty happy with gluten, and pate type meat slice. Everything else was okay. This might be good for a party of 10ppl instead. I don't see it as a mist for our party of 8ppl. 1 五彩大拉皮 Five-Color with Mung Bean Noodle Salad $18.98 - Mix yourself. I usually eat this dish with a lot of the spicy mustard (like horseradish/wasabi) in it. But it's nice they have it on the side for each person's spicy level? I dont think I've ever eaten it with vinegar oil? I loved this dish as a kid for Northern cuisine. Unfortunately, this dish isn't to par. But okay enough. This dish is usually a must order/staple appetizer from northern cuisine restaurants. 1 梅菜扣肉 Steamed Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables $22.98 - Not for me. 1 牙签孜然羊肉 Cumin Lamb on Toothpicks $25.98 - Done well. My SO loved it. Typical Northern western Chinese protein and dish. A dish that's become a typical bar food dish around 626. 1 西汁核桃虾 Crispy Walnut Shrimp $18.98 - Remember this isn't a canto restaurant. So this style is not the same from cafes, or canto seafood restaurants. Really good deal for the amount they have us. 1 葱油鱼片 Fish Fillet with Scallion Oil $24.98 - Particular texture. I love fish, but for some reason, this texture really confuses me. Like eating raw skin crunching fish? I just have to get used to it? Or I'm just the anomaly in this one. 1 招牌黑椒龙虾 Signature Black Pepper Lobster 5.50 lb @$35.00/lb $192.50 -加伊面 Add Noodle $20.00 Lobster 5.50lbs. This one was pepper vs Canto oil style. They'll ask you when ordering your food. That was the smallest lobster they had. Next one would be a 6lb lobster instead. 1 木耳山药 Black Fungus with Chinese Yam $18.98 - My type of dish. Light and healthier. 1 热水 Hot Water $0.00 1 茉莉花茶 Jasmine Tea $9.98 (pot worth) 8 冰水 Ice Water $0.00 Items in interested in trying next time with a group whose okay with dishes I usually go for - - Garlic shredded eel $32.48 (OR Spicy Stir-fried Pork)  - Special Shredded Pancake (OR Kurobuta Pork Meat Pie $14ish, Chive Pancakes, Chive Turnovers). - more vegetable heavy dishes. Service was amazing. Multiple plate changes, and ice water refills.

There are a few Canto cafés around here, but this one is definitely one of our favorites. Dim sum is pretty easy to find, but authentic Cantonese cafés are much more of a rare find. The lower reviews are probably due to the service, but in my opinion, a truly authentic Cantonese restaurant should have questionable service because that's exactly what you get at the good places in Hong Kong. The philosophy in Hong Kong is basically "food over service." If they're being too nice, they're probably overcompensating for something haha. Getting either the hot or iced milk tea or lemon tea is a MUST. It's the traditional way to do it, and they even offer unlimited refills! Just be warned that you might not sleep that night because Hong Kong-style tea is no joke when it comes to caffeine. Pro tip: If you get the lemon tea, you have to crush the lemons into the tea to get the right flavor! My friends and I are regulars here. They're open late, and the ambiance is so fun, with tables decorated with mahjong tiles and neon lights that basically scream Asia. The food is top tier and, in my opinion, some of the best Cantonese food you'll find in the U.S. Our go-to orders are the tomato baked rice dishes, stir-fried vegetables, 3-cup dishes, and brisket curries. For something sweet, we always share the classic Cantonese French toast with peanut butter inside or one of the pineapple buns. Definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for an authentic Canto café experience! :)

I came here a few nights ago when the hot pot spot I wanted to eat at was packed and I didn't want to wait. I decided to try HK Macau Bistro instead since I low key wanted to have baked pasta. Restaurant was packed but I was able to be seated right away. I ordered the following dishes: - Baked Fish Fillet with Cream Sauce / Pasta - 8/10. This was really good. The melted cheese on top made this dish so delicious! - Chicken (Half) - 7/10 - This was good but it just tasted like any the chicken at any other place. - Chinese greens - 7/10 - This was okay. Preferred stronger flavors as this tasted kind of bland. - Curry Beef Stew / Tendons - 9/10 - Very tender! I liked this a lot! Would definitely order again! Lemon Iced Tea was yummy! Service was good. Restaurant was clean. Love the H.K. Vibe.

OMG! If you're craving some REALLY good lobster and want to get your money's worth, Boston Lobster…read moreis definitely worth trying! I came here with a friend, just the two of us, and the portions were HUGE. We ordered a lobster that was around 3-4 pounds, and the lobster is priced per pound. I believe we had the Boston Lobster House Special, and we added the noodles for about $10 extra. Let me tell you and it did NOT disappoint. The lobster was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely mouthwatering. The noodles soaked up all that flavor from the lobster and seasoning, and everything together was just delicious. I kept wanting to eat even though I was already getting full! It is a little pricey, especially depending on the size of the lobster you choose, but they give you A LOT of food. There were only two of us, and we each had enough food left over to take home and have another full meal. Honestly, the amount we ordered could have easily fed four people. We also had the shrimp fried rice, which was delicious, and even the lemon iced tea was really good. I wanted to try more things, but there was absolutely no way, we already had so much food! This is definitely more of a family-style dining experience. In my opinion, this isn't your typical quick Chinese food spot or chain restaurant. The quality, freshness, portions, and overall experience put Boston Lobster on another level. I also loved the atmosphere. We sat near the live seafood tanks, so you can actually see the lobsters and other seafood in the tanks, which added to the experience. They also have their own private parking lot with two-hour parking, which is a huge plus. We didn't have reservations and were able to get seated, but I could definitely see this place getting crowded, so reservations may be helpful during busier times. For me, Boston Lobster is easily FIVE STARS. If you're in the Rosemead area looking for delicious Asian seafood and some seriously good lobster, I definitely recommend it. Just make sure you come HUNGRY!

They kept switching out our plates whenever they got filled with empty shells, so we always had a clean plate. The inside was also pretty nice, and you can see all the fish and lobsters in the tanks. Overall, it was a great experience! Definitely on the pricier side, but we had a good time and the food and service made it worth it. Food was everything we expected! We got: Steamed turbo fish 10/10 - it was really flavorful and the ginger and onions on top was an amazing touch. Clams w basil - was very good and fresh. We couldn't stop eating it 10/10 House special lobster - was fire!! It was very easy to take out the shell and it was so tasty. Would definitely recommend! 100/10 French beef - not the star of the show but still was really flavorful! 9/10 Sour soup - it was a good soup and tasted like all the other sour soup nothing too special :) 8/10 Ong choy - we needed some vegetable on the table and steamed ong choy w garlic was really good and refreshing. 10/10 Fried rice - matched w everything we were eating 9/10
