Charming, uh no It's a big place with lots of mostly outdoor dining. Table service was nice and the best part of the visit. It looks like it could sit roadside in any small town in America and it is however that small town is Temecula and there is no shortage of good restaurants, Just toss a stone and you will hit one. I wish we had Its a burger joint, with other things served on the menu. I think they are really testing the waters with prices as burgers and sandwiches range from 13 to 21 dollars and served ala carte so if you want fries add 6 more dollars. I would say a modest burger fries soda and Shake would be over 30 bucks per person. I heard the burger was Ok and messy, and the 1/2 lb of pastrami promised on my sandwich may have hit the floor because it was a 3 ounce portion at best. Fried zucchini was fine but confident it came right out of a bag from the freezer. Take a stroll down Front Street in Old Town Temecula, and you will eventually come upon Mad Madeline's. This diner is located about half the way from one entrance to the other, on this historic street. The bright white and red building, with it's great outdoor roofed patio area certainly make this restaurant inviting, especially if you've been walking and have built up an appetite. Lately, the restaurant like many others, has expanded their outdoor dining area out into the street, providing ample tables. A large poster announcing that they are the "Best Hamburger" and several posters around the building indicating that they are voted "Best," definitely piques your interest. Their specialty is hamburgers and there is an expansive list to prove it. Pictures of the burgers are shown on the menu and you can see that these are an extraordinary variety, each stacked high in their various combinations. Also on the menu are many other entrees which include; sandwiches, salads, hot dogs and combo meals, e.g. fish, chicken, and tons of drinks which include shakes and malts. The orders arrived and you could see that these burgers are made from fresh beef; thick probably in the vicinity of half a pound and grilled to your perfection. I didn't notice lots of sauce on my bacon burger, but condiments were an arms length away. The beef was flavorful and the rather large burger disappeared quickly. I was really looking forward to a thick, juicy bacon cheeseburger, so passing by the burgers looked amazing. We ordered two Bacon Cheeseburgers and upgraded to onion rings. The burger was processed and not very flavourful but okay. The bun almost seemed stale with very little toast on it, which made it doughy and chewy. I will say that the combination and construction of the burger was very good, although the bacon was a bit rubbery, the condiments were spot on. The onion rings were okay and most likely a Sysco frozen food service premium brand. All in all, I'm sure this was a good place at one time. They have an amazing lineup of burgers but miss the mark on quality. I think my $54.00 and the 8% added mark up for two run of the mill bacon cheeseburgers could have been spent elsewhere for a better quality burger. read more

When we were young we waited tables so we are very respectful to all servers. The server was the same that sat my husband who acted annoyed that he moved slower (he is a disabled veteran). The server dropped our food and never came back. We had 3 burgers , 1 chicken sandwich and two shakes and 1drink. Over $123. Never ever again. Worst experience in years. And we never complain. We asked another server to please replace cold fries. Manager came out with one order (there were 4 of us) and slammed down the basket. We live within 20 minutes and my sister has been in Temecula for 30 years. We have dinner or lunch in the area twice a month. We found this place on the synergy gift card from Costco. We have gone twice. I highly recommend if you decide to frequent this location and sign up for their loyalty program to give them your phone number because they will not ask you for it when you pay. Even being mid-day on a Saturday, the service was friendly and fast, and the food was excellent. I am a bit on the fence with Mad Madeline's Grill. The service was good, the fish sandwich was really good wish they did not skimp on the pineapple I asked for. The tartar sauce I ordered on the side because I was not sure I was going to like was amazing. So were the zucchini fries which were amazing. The two things I did not like was that the peanutbutter shake tasted more like a vanilla milk shake with a hint of peanutbutter. On the website it stated that each fish and chip was $12.99, but when we got our order, the receipt said $20.50 each. We also asked if we could substitute, not change the fries for onion rings on two orders. She said yes and didn't tell us it had an additional cost and they charged us an extra $6.50 each order. The receipt also showed us a "wage and inflation service fee" which was 8% of the total order. We didn't even dine there, picked up our order which doesn't make sense. Menu comprised of a variety of burgers, hotdogs and shakes. The teriyaki burger was juicy and tasty. Texas hotdog was loaded with shredded pulled pork, and onion rings, can't complain. Mexi Cali dogs were wrapped in tortilla and dip fried top with salsa and guacamole. Sweet potato fries was our favorite. You can't go wrong with this. Average price per item is about $12. It's a touristy area, be ready to drop a chunk of change on food no matter which restaurant you choose.
