Matador Cantina lives up to the quality of their food. This restaurant has not sacrificed its quality over quantity and one can taste it in every bite. The restaurant provides more of subtle lighting but it works for it. The bar is incredible. It's reminisce of the old town it sits. I'm not much of a drinker but I can tell you that every plate I've tried here, including some appetizers are unbelievable. The mole enchiladas are my favorite. And if you are a coke a cola person (why wouldn't you be?) then you'll enjoy the authentic rich flavor of their soft drink. There is available seating inside and outside. Booths are the prominent seating area inside and tables for the outside. Overall a great place to dine especially with friend and family. read more

I am visiting home and I thought I would visit one of my favorite Taco Tuesday places in college. I called earlier in the day and asked for the hours that they would be serving the Taco Tuesday food deals, and the woman on the phone told me until 12 am. My friends and I arrived around 11, asked the bartender for a menu, was given one, then ordered food around 11:15. The bartender then told me that he needs to check if the kitchen was open. He came back 5 minutes later and told me it was closed, despite having signs proclaiming that the kitchen was open until midnight. We mainly came for food and were very disappointed and mislead. The staff were very unapologetic. I understand that kitchens close early based on demand, but I would have rather been told that the kitchen closing time is dependent upon demand rather than be mislead. read more

Needless to say this place didn't disappoint, friendly staff that are willing to help you out and do their best to make you comfortable as for the food it was really good! What happened today ? I called to place a pick up order of 2 chicken fajitas - our usual. I didn't get a quote regarding how long it was going to take so I was there in about half an hour. I walk in and ask for my order. I knew there was going to be an issue when the hostess came back and asked me what was under the name I gave her. She left and came back telling me that someone picked it up already. I let her know that that's not possible but I also understood that another customer probably took my food. I asked to ring it up again and she did. I got my food, went home, and what do I find? Undercooked chicken fajitas with minimal seasoning. I also did not get any guacamole or tortillas and was still charged full price for both. We had a very dissapointing experience. read more

In area for lunch & stopped here at noon on a Tuesday. Place wasn't packed & service was decent. Clean restaurant with friendly staff. Sat in outdoor patio area that looked like could be a happening place to hang out after hours. Good food but not all that spicy. Chips n salsa, a marker for any Mexican restaurant, was on point. Nice restaurant with great food and drinks. I was there on Friday night and I had a great male bartender that was nice courtesy, and very professional. But when he switch with the female bartender, she was very rude and disrespectful. while at the bar buying drinks. Every few minutes she told me and my friend to keep scooting over make room fir people can buy drinks but honestly, nobody came in every area to buy drinks. On top of that as she charge me and every other customer, but giving her friends, free drinks, free shots, and then she asked me to move out the way, at that point I was upsetting and complained to her and asked to see her manager and close on my bill. When she came back she didn't say anything to me. again I asked her where's my bill so I close the bill. I went to speak to the manager to complain to him and told him what happened. The first thing he s said I was humping my girl and that's the reason why she asked us to move . I told him how do you know that was you inside to see and I told me you automatically believe her story without asking me or investigating the situation. I told him she lied on me. I explain to the manager that is not true and she's lying about the situation . He's response to me was just go to a different bar we have a few bars inside . How can you have a manager running your establishment tell a customer that instead of fixing a problem very unprofessional. I told the manager rewind the cameras, and you will see how she was giving free drinks and shots out to her friends without charging them and you will see how she was telling me to move out the way and he was no one trying to buy drinks. read more

This is the BEST Mexican food we have ever had! So fresh and different from your average cantina food. We ordered the chicken Chile relleno and the carnitas. Wow! We were blown away by the originality of the food and friendly, fast service. The manager stopped by our table to see how we were doing. When we told her how much we loved our food and that it was our first time there, she brought us a complimentary dessert! The chocolate chip cookie with caramel vanilla ice cream was amazing! Good chips and salsa. Good margaritas. Very lemony and not so good guacamole. Very weird and non-seafood ceviche. But the main reason this place is getting three stars is because they charged my friend double what her bill actually was supposed to be and then they blamed her credit card company. I would like to give this establishment Zero stars. My girl-friend and I attended this club Saturday night on 3-05-22. My girlfriend and I were dancing and another woman " sucker punched " my girlfriend from behind. I pushed this cowardly woman away from my girlfriend and once security got involved they decided to kick both involved parties out of the club. They did not give me or my girlfriend a chance to explain that we were attacked. I will be back at this club very soon to speak with the owner and try to get copies of the video footage of this attack. I will get in touch with my lawyer and pursue this matter further to press charges. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but Joe (the bouncer) was so helpful this past Saturday that I wanted to acknowledge him! There was a drunk guy who kept harassing me and my friends. We have had our fair share of creepy guys, but this guy just wouldn't take no for an answer. Joe saw that we were all uncomfortable and stepped in to help. He was able to handle the situation very well and made sure we were ok after he escorted him out. Great customer service and just an overall stand-up guy! I'm glad guys like Joe can make girls like us feel safe. He's the hero we all need. read more

Such mediocre Mexican food. They serve the chips and salsa out of to go containers and the chips aren't hot at all. The guacamole was seasoned so poorly, super chemical tasting. The tacos especiales el pastor was covered in pineapple and sautéed onions so gross and the fish taco had way too much sweet coleslaw on it. The young guy at the bar was rude and saw him grab the waitresses waist a few times and the kids that serve here are poorly trained and have mediocre customer service. There is not much I can say that hasn't already been said about the Matador Cantina. They do have a great taco Tuesday and the staff is very friendly. It's great for larger groups and the food itself is A ok. However, it is a great choice for vegetarians and vegans. Their chips and salsa is quite tasty. I'm not going to lie to you but my experience wasn't that great. I guess this is the kinda place you come to do two things; to drink and to enjoy some appetizers. My only intention was to have a good-decent Mexican meal but I couldn't find it here. I think the entrees are over priced for the quality of the food. I didn't find nothing unique on taste either presentation. Although, my chicken wings had a weird taste......if the chicken was already going bad........but i enjoyed the drinks and the tortilla chips with the salsa. About the place....The place is huge, a Lot of sitting area (indoor and outdoor). The selection of beers is great and cocktails as well. The waitresses were super friendly. Parking was not an issue since there is a public parking lot behind the restaurant. And they take reservations which it's great on busy days. Going back? Maybe not...... read more

We decided to come at last minute for Mother's Day called the restaurant at 12:30 asking for a 1:45 reservation and were perfectly accommodated. We arrived for the Mother's Day brunch at 1:45 which ended at 3 and the food was adequately stock until after bottomless mimosas were flowing throughout the entire time. The food and desserts were incredible. Jensen our server was just the awesome. Chef Dave has once again kept the menu fresh. We came on Easter for that branch in the menu is completely different. My daughter and friends went last night. Their designated driver asked for a virgin pina colada, the nasty bartender with an attitude said she could not make one, she asked what other drink she could make for her and she replied "soda". Really? You cannot accommodate a designated driver? I think bars should be more open to serving non alcoholic drinks for those who prefer not to drink. The food here was pretty good, not amazing. I tried the carnitas which tasted closer to orange chicken than carnitas. The meat was very tender but surprisingly not juicy and a little sweet. As I ate it I just couldn't help but feel like there was something missing. The cilantro rice was tasty and cooked well but the retried beans were bland and flavorless and looked like they came from a can. The flour tortillas were also store bought and not that great. The chips and salsa were very good. My wife ordered the mofungo, it was not really mofongo but the pork was delicious and tender and the plantains were cooked perfectly. My mother-in law got the shredded pork tacos and said they were completely flavorless, but couldn't handle the heat from the habenero salsa that accompanied the tacos. My father in law got the wet burrito with mole sauce and loved it. All in all this place is ok. read more

Had a night out with the girls on Halloween and one of friends wanted some water so I went to the bar and asked the bartender for tap water or bottled water and he completely ignored my order while making other peoples drinks then I tried waving my hands to get his attention and he ignored me! I even asked someone next to me to ask him for water and he actually said "I don't care." I went to the other end of the bar to the woman bartender and she politely told me they ran out of bottled water (which is unbelievable, how does an establishment run out of water at 12?). What a great restaurant! We reserved the patio for my mother's 80th birthday for around 10 people. That morning, the weather predicted a real scorcher. I called and explained my 80-year old mother could not withstand that kind of heat, could we move inside? Even though they were all booked inside, they graciously opened up their surplus room for us and one other party (presumably in the same predicament). It was fully air conditioned and my dear mother had the time of her life! Not to mention our waiter, Taylor. Not only was he completely attentive, he was really kind and fun and even joined us for cake (which they let us bring the day before).
