Had this place bookmarked and finally got to try it with my sis. Went at 8am on a Saturday and got seated right away. It was pretty spacious with a lot of tables. It's really nice to have a waitlist on Yelp to see how busy it gets. The employees were all very sweet and took the time to explain things to us. Usually I scan the menu before I go to a restaurant and I knew off the bat I had to try the Birria omelette. It didn't disappoint! They put plenty of protein in the omelette and give a pretty hefty portions. They also gave us salsa on the side. My sis ordered Al pastor omelette and she enjoyed the sweetness of the pineapple with the savory of the pork. The Nutella French toast was pretty average, the brioche bread was fluffy. Not sure if the cinnamon and strawberries really worked but it was a very cute presentation. The coffee flight was such an awesome surprise. The Marzapan latte was my favorite. It also comes with horchata, pistachio, and Abuelitas. We chose iced and substituted to oat milk. Some were sweeter than others but plenty for sharing. We ordered a mimosa flight and I got the birria benedict while my friend got the One which is one of their specialties! The mimosa flight was your typical mimosa flight and it was refreshing and sparkling. A great way to start our meal and it complimented our food quite nicely. My birria benedict was delicious and full of flavor with the eggs being runny and not overcooked and the meat being tender and flavorful. The beans were hearty and well-cooked and the salad was a great offset to the benedict. My friend loved her sandwich which was huge and bustling with richness and flavor and the side of country potatoes was a good call! We were super excited to try this breakfast, brunch place in Whittier! We ordered the two coffee flight, the classic, and the specialty. Super delicious, but not very hot. They come in either ice or hot, we ordered hot, and it was lukewarm at best. But it was still delicious. For brunch, we ordered the rancheros, the Belgian waffles, and the two egg breakfast, and we shared it with four people. It certainly was enough for us. The waffles are amazing, thick and piled high with lots of goodies. We were spying on everybody else's food to check out the beautiful waffles and pancakes. Probably what they're best known for is beautiful waffles and pancakes. Or at least they should be! The rancheros were quite good, but small portion, considering the price. It does come with half a baked potato. The two egg breakfast was huge, and my granddaughter couldn't really finish it all. As I described, the waffles were spectacular. I would give this place 4 1/2 stars if possible, not five only because service was kind of iffy. They are super busy, so I get it, but it did take over 15 minutes to get an extra plate, and by then the food was not really hot anymore. Even so, this was a do-over food experience for us. Plus we ordered the visually appealing victory pancakes aka strawberry pancakes with strawberry condensed milk and shortcake crumbs. First things first, I did enjoy the food! The chilaquiles were flavorful. Green chile not too spicy but definitely not bland. Has a nice kick to it and paired with the crema and beans... YUM. Not to mention the nice runny egg yolk. The pancakes were big and fluffy anddd delicious. Sweet but not too sweet. Very good. They apparently have some special food items for the month of December but no where on the paper menu or any other sheet of paper did it say that nor did the waiter mention anything. I visited this place based on the Yelp reviews, and here's my honest take on what I didn't like. After placing our order, our food arrived 25 minutes later. The Chile Rellenos were good initially, but once we got to the center, the cheese was cold -- it seemed like it had been prefilled and reheated rather than made fresh, since most of the inside of the chile was cold. Secondly, the menu doesn't have a kids' option, so we ended up ordering chocolate pancakes for my granddaughter -- $20 for just 3 pancakes. I didn't love that price point. My omelette Birria was okay, but again, the side of beans and the omelette itself were cold. I really wanted to like this place, but I left disappointed. The prices are on the higher side, so I expected the food to come out warmer, and maybe with faster service -- 10 minutes or so would have been more reasonable than 25. I would I visit this place again, sadly no. The food presentation was nice, so it makes for great pictures, but that's about it. read more

Stopped by here a few days ago and have to say it's truly a hidden gem found in Uotown Whittier. The decor is so vibrant and relaxing. I got a chilaquiles plate with steak and eggs on top. It was delicious and extremely filling. Our waiter was polite and attentive the whole time. He recommended we try the Duvalin Latte. And it did not disappoint. The mole chilaquiles did not hit for me. I thought the mole was way too sweet, like the pre-made ones you buy from the store. If you like that then this dish might be for you, no shame in that! I just thought for the price I was paying, the quality and creativity could have been a lot better. The strawberry horchata also just tasted like strawberry nesquik, no signs of horchata anywhere. They put cinammon sticks as a cute touch, visually, but there was hardly any cinnamon in the actual drink. And their belgian waffle reminded me of the hotel ones where you make your own waffles. Sure, it did it's job! But again, not worth the price. Even if they did sprinkle some berries on it haha. I think this is just a huge photo op/online trend for folks to enjoy with friends and (some) families. It's a small space so wait times are typically more than an hr on weekends. And considering that this was local to Whittier and not all the way in central LA, I think this place serves a great purpose as a space for locals to get drunk on mimosas and let loose. But food wise, it's just very mediocre. Visually creative but the ingredients aren't. If you don't want to stray too far from Whittier, I recommend trekking to Blvd Market in Montebello for some delicious Mexican brunch with a calmer, nicer ambience. Alright, brunch aficionados! Let's talk about Madres. I recently ventured out to try their highly-anticipated brunch, and while the atmosphere was certainly buzzing, my tastebuds had a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Now the food... can I say, the Churro French Toast has to be one of the top French toasts I've ever had. It almost had a cinnamon roll type taste, but the churro pieces made it a MUST GET for the next time I come. The chilaquiles verdes w/ birria were also really good. It was definitely enough for my wife and I to share. Lastly, the iced pistachio latte... let me tell you... I could've ordered least 3 of these things. Highly recommend! I had the CHILANGO omelette ($16) -- it was stuffed with green chilaquiles and cheese, served over black beans with sour cream, Panela, red onion, and cilantro. Great mix of flavors. We also shared the Nutella French toast ($16.01) with grilled plantains and powdered sugar, sweet, but not too heavy. The drinks were fun: a crisp green apple mimosa, a creamy strawberry horchata, a cozy dulce de leche latte, and the Madres strawberry lemonade with coconut milk, which was light and refreshing. We got a small unseasoned steak for our dog, and he definitely approved. Our server, Nora, was awesome -- friendly, quick, and made sure we had everything we needed. Ok is what I can mostly say about this place. A couple of friends of mine had came here a couple of times and expressed different types of service they received. The time I came with them our server looked like she didn't even want to be there and missed some details of our order that ended up being wrong. We had to ask for condiments that were given to us in such a small quantity, cups of water were super tiny, and the prices were too pricey for what I thought it was worth. While they are aesthetically pleasing, they both tasted mediocre yet super sweet. My sweet tooth was definitely happy but the sweetness level wasn't appropriate for brunch. It was more like for dessert. If this is your thing, definitey try them. If not, maybe choose from their savory menu items. We didn't try their drinks except for the black coffee to pair with their overly sweet pancakes and french toast. She then came back and told us she was going on break and introduced us to our new waitress who never checked up on us once. I asked for more napkins and she literally and I mean literally only brought me one. LOL. That's the last I saw of her. Our water was low and never refilled and by the time we were done our original waitress had come back from her break. My husband and I brought our moms all the way out here (from LA area) on Saturday for our Mother's Day outing and we were not disappointed! We got the special mimosa flight (x2 ) and one margarita flight and each drink was DELICIOUS. I'm not a tequila person so I stuck to the mimosas, but hubby did mention the mimosas felt stronger than the margaritas. For food, I got The Wilma pancakes, my mom got the Ensenada omelette, my mother in law got the chilaquiles verdes with asada, and my hubby got the Madres chilaquiles. The food did seem to take a while to come out when comparing the time against others who were sat after we were, but the service was great overall and food was so yummy. It definitely needed salt and the meat was a bit dry. The dish came with a side of pinto beans which were barely warm and some consome. My son ordered the "Journey" which were strawberry pancakes topped with a condensed milk situation and strawberry crunch. It looks cute but, I personally did not like them. They were too sweet for my palate however, my son actually enjoyed them. He also ordered an Horchata which was pretty much milk and cinnamon. I definitely did not get any authentic horchata flavor as in from the rice that is typically used to make it. Lastly, he also ordered a side of hash browns which were not crispy as you would expect, in fact, they were mushy and had NO flavor! Overall, I personally would not come back. Our waitress never circled back for refills or to check if our food was being enjoyed. This place is trendy, cute but, I'd rather have simple flavorful dishes in a regular setting. Went there recently and ordered chilaquiles, the person I was with ordered the green chilaquiles. Our server asked how we wanted our egg that came with the chilaquiles, we both chose scrambled. When the check was brought to us, we noticed that they charge an extra $1 for scrambled. I know it's a menial dollar, but I wish there was more transparency when it comes to extra charges. As the green chilaquiles were a bit dry, we asked for extra chilaquile sauce on the side. Again, they added a $2.50 extra charge which wasn't communicated to us.
