Chilaquiles! It's been awhile since I've gone out for breakfast/brunch and this place is so cute! We got there around 10:30am right before the crowd! And the service there was great and they always checked in on us to make sure everything was good and if we needed anything else. We ordered the chilaquiles and the Rojos with birria was very good. And very filling, was only able to finish half of it before being full. The Verdes with steak was also good but we had to add some hot sauce and then it was better! I'd defrocked back to try other food here next time! read more

Visited the restaurant around 9:30am on a Friday, not busy so no wait. Restaurant definitely has a "girly" atmosphere that was appealing to my wife and daughter. Service was good, servers were attentive and food came out fairly quick. My wife enjoyed her Madres chilaquiles, which has Birria , I thought they were good but definitely lacked salt, the tortilla chips were crispy and not soggy which is a huge plus for me. My daughter had Belgium waffles which she said were "soo good", I didn't try. My Ensenada Omelette was mediocre, too oily, too mushy, seafood was overcooked, the house hot sauce was very good, helped to cut the richness of the omelette. Overall would say we will try again. read more

My wife and I visited for a weekday brunch during a break from work, hoping to beat the weekend rush after seeing the photos and strong online reviews. The restaurant itself had a pleasant ambiance and appeared well-staffed, which made the experience that followed even more surprising. Despite there being only a few other parties dining, it took roughly 15 minutes just to receive coffee and water--and only after we asked twice. Several staff members were gathered at the front chatting, which made the delay feel less like a staffing issue and more like a lack of urgency. When the coffee finally arrived, it unfortunately tasted burnt. Taking our order took another 10 minutes. I ordered the sampler toast, and my wife chose the Birria Benedict. After that, we waited close to 30 minutes while guests who arrived after us were served promptly. We checked in twice for updates and were told someone would "check on it." When the food arrived, the execution was inconsistent. My eggs--ordered over easy--were all cooked differently, though to their credit, the server quickly brought out replacement eggs. The salmon, however, was overcooked to the point of being dry and jerky-like. The birria was the standout item, but the rest of my wife's dish didn't taste particularly fresh. Hoping to salvage the experience, we decided to order a plain waffle--thinking perhaps it was a specialty. Unfortunately, while we watched other dishes leave the kitchen within 15-20 minutes, the waffle never arrived. During this time, smoke began filling the restaurant from the kitchen, which didn't inspire confidence. We ultimately asked for the check. When it arrived, I asked about the missing waffle and was asked if I had placed the order with another server (I had not). The server offered to get a manager, but after nearly two hours in the restaurant, we were simply ready to leave. Overall, this was a disappointing experience given the high ratings on Yelp and Google. While every restaurant can have an off day, this visit felt like a series of avoidable missteps. If you have other brunch options nearby, you may want to consider them. Hopefully this review helps future guests make an informed decision. read more

First time visiting here, I had a great experience; the manager Jazmine greeted us at the door with a great smile and attitude while checking on everyone, the server Ana explained everything and offered advice, we got our mimosa flight of lychee, peach and lavender with a sugar rim, hell yeah, we got some quesabirria and mole chiliaquillas plus these fluffy delicious chocolate pancakes with almonds strawberries chocolate sauce and chocolate ice cream, to top it off I had an iced horchata with oat milk and a latte with oat milk. The atmosphere was very friendly and I didn't feel the need to call anyone down. Thank you to everyone who made it a great experience. read more

Service is warm and friendly, though things get a bit stretched when the place fills up -- which it does (very much brunch "Instagram crowd" energy). Plates sometimes hit the table at different times, and drinks may arrive with a mini wait -- but when that mimosa flight finally lands? Worth it. Totally worth every penny. read more

This place was not great. Surprised by how many start it has. Did not take pictures of the other items but we ordered the red chilaquiles, egg Benedict's and the waffles. As you can see the waffle would separate and fall apart the taste was not fair. It seemed more like powder taste. Did she like did not taste like Chilaquiles? They were really red, but there was no red sauce taste to it seems like they added a lot of cumin to it and that's what I was able to taste the most. The egg Benedict were OK. The chorizo tasted more like sausage and I feel like the combination of the cheese and sauce. They used did not complement well. Maybe the aesthetic of this restaurant it's what attracts people but unfortunately, food was not great for us and will not be going back. Staff was friendly though read more

This place was overhyped and overpriced in what world does a restaurant owner justify charging $4 for a can of soda with no refills. Some would say you're paying for the vibe but even their utensils and drink-ware was cheap. Unfortunately it was our first and last time here. I just hope that for the price this place is charging and the quality of everything that the least they can do is pay their employees more than minimum wage. Our food was nothing special dry cold chilaquiles and doughy waffles. read more

When they first opened the food and presentation was good with good quality ingredients. But now it's very low quality ingredient. My mom ordered Chilaquiles.. They were just soggy and dry presentation. The Biirria meat was just in chunks.. I ordered steak and eggs. The steak was not good. It tasted like the cheapest cut of steak. Had that old funky stale meat flavor. I asked for my eggs over easy they were burnt over well. I didn't wanna make a big deal out of it. I just ate the eggs. I couldn't finish the steak at all. The only thing that was good was the regular house coffee. My server was very polite and attentive. I have no issues with the service. It's the food that's not good. I will not be going back. read more

Our office selected Madres Brunch for our monthly outing and I was not disappointed. Located in the heart of uptown Whittier and right next to the Whittier Village Cinemas, Madres offers a variety of yummy breakfast and savory lunch entrees made with fresh ingredients and an eye for presentation. Vegan options are also available which suited our team just fine. We were a large group of about 13 adults and were seated quickly. We arrived around 11am on a weekday which is a good time. I noticed that the lunch crowd starting arriving around noon and filled the place up. I ordered the salmon toast which came on a thicker type of bread similar to Texas toast but much softer. The avocado added a nice base as did the onion. This is quite the popular restaurant which is no surprise when you take into account the excellent service, small town location, and delicious food. This is a perfect place to take out of town guests looking to enjoy Whittier. Free parking available behind the restaurant/movie theater in the public parking lot. There is also limited street parking. Enjoy your visit! read more

This is such a fun brunch place!!! If you love being extra and enjoy yourself without judgement, this is THE place!!! My partner and I came here for brunch spontaneously and were so happy we did! The restaurant was decorated beautifully with fun art and graphics, and the staff was so kind! The first thing we noticed was the fun displays they did to food and of course had to order it ourselves! For my first time I had the Madres Chilaquiles (with Birria). The decor was cute and pretty, like they say "instagrammable." The space is big and has many tables and it looks clean. The server and other staff were friendly, patient and attentive. Great customer service. As for my dish, it wasn't bad but I wasn't personally impressed. I did like the touch of crumbled pork rinds for crunch but overall they are just not my favorite chilaquiles. And the amount of egg seemed so small. But like I said, nothing was terrible. read more

The food is absolutely great ! I got the "Chilango" omelette. My husband got the "Madres chilaquiles " and they too were great! They are a tad bit spiced than the regular red chilaquiles. My husband and I went here for brunch. They have huge portion sizes so we decided to share a savory and a sweet entree. The service was standard it was pretty busy when we came in but we were seated right away. Definitely has a more modern feel. The Los Cubanos was good and the pork chops were cooked juicy and not dry. The hazel which is two waffles with a LOT of hazelnut spread could be dialed back a little. At some point all we could tastes is just the gooey spread and not the waffle. I would ask for the spread to go on the side next time. All in all it's an okay spot to eat. To start, our server was nothing but attentive and extremely helpful. Ordered the Ensenada omelette. I knew that was probably my first mistake but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. When it was brought out, it had an extremely fishy smell. The baked potato was half black and hard. Our server was extremely apologetic and replaced it with their hash browns, which were delicious and a huge upgrade from the baked potato. The cafe de olla and pancakes that were also ordered saved the experience. While waiting to pay our bill, the lady bussing our table decided to start clearing our table while we were still actively trying to finish our expensive beverages and box our left over pancakes. Reaching over us and making us feel rushed. Had she just waited one minute, we would have been completely out of her way. Mind you, it was not busy in there where the need to clear the table immediately after as necessary. Overall, the coffee was good but overpriced. $80 dollars later, their regular pancakes were delicious but everything else was for the aesthetics. read more

Madres Brunch is a large restaurant in downtown Whittier. There is lots of street and structure parking in the area. I highly recommend joining the wait list via yelp. The menu is brunch oriented with lots of Mexican leaning dishes. They also have sparkling wine and what I believe to be wine based margaritas (they don't offer hard alcohol separately). We ordered a flight of mimosas with orange and pineapple juice, all of which were delicious. My chilaquiles verdes were also outstanding - rich and fresh. The service is not super attentive, but they are always hustling. All of the tables are full and I think that they are a bit short staffed. They help as they can. I would definitely come again - a boisterous, kitschy restaurant with excellent food. read more

Great place for a trendy brunch spot! Their customer service is excellent! Super kind people working at this location. They have 3 door however, the main entrance is the one in the middle. It's apparent that there is a worker/host that will come out to greet you and seat you. You must wait outside/make a line and they'll call you up on a first come first serve basis. They have a bench to sit on, but it's limited to like 4-5 people to sit on. I went on a Sunday around 945am ish and there was no host for a good 3-5 minutes so we did have to wait a bit. I ended up asking the worker there if we come and look for someone or if someone will come out to get us? He said someone would come out and sit us down. Eventually we got sat down. The server greeted us within 5 minutes of us sitting down. We ordered drinks first and got them within 5-7 minutes. We then ordered our food and got that within 10-15 minutes after ordering it. I always get water and their water cup is super small/like a kids cup. So maybe get the bottle if you drink a lot of water. I got the waffles and I'd rate them a 7/10. The waffles were dry :( but the strawberries and bananas were fresh and delicious! The Nutella wasn't overpowering and the ice cream was just the right amount. My favorite iced coffee is their pistachio latte ! Highly recommend it ! Parking out front is limited so you may need to walk a ways or park in the back area and walk down the mini alleyway here. I'd definitely come back and try more menu items. Also, their Yelp reservations does not work here, I do not recommend you try it or rely on it. One of the reasons I came to this location was because of this however, they don't honor it. I confirmed this with their host. read more

For a unique breakfast experience, you definitely have to try Madres Brunch. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very family friendly. The food was worth the wait. I'd have to say the best time to dine here would have to be during the week as weekends tend to be very busy. Enjoy. read more

Jorge was amazing! He's extremely attentive, very patient, and informative. All accommodations were met and this place truly exceeded our expectations. I had the Pastor Omelette, with a side of green salsa. It was very flavorful and filling. The atmosphere is really cute and relaxing. It's definitely a vibe for couples and groups of friends. This is a great breakfast spot especially if you have a sweet tooth! During this visit, I tried the green chilaquiles with steak and shared a pistachio waffle. Both were delicious especially with an Abuelita (chocolate) latte. The service is great here and our server (I apologize for forgetting her name) was very pleasant. She was patient with us (as it was hard to decide what to order) and she was happy to answer all of our questions. I enjoyed the 80's music! I will definitely be returning. read more

We went there for a birthday brunch last weekend. They brought just a birthday waffle and set it on fire on the side so it was pretty special and tasty! Think of a s'mores likes waffle minus the chocolate

Sadly, no. There is a restaurant in Monrovia and Covina that serves Cafe de Olla. Fonda Don Chon and Cafe De Olla restaurant in Monrovia. Very delicious!

Half serving is probably ok for one person, full was nice to share. The bathroom was clean, large, and single person--great for a pit stop before you head out! The mason jar waters were cool. I visited this restaurant for brunch on Thursday around 10:30am, and it was pouring rain. The left side of the restaurant was completely empty with about 10-12 open tables. There was no wait, and we were seated at the first table right by the entrance. We politely asked the lady at the front if we could move to a different table, and she was incredibly rude and dismissive, saying "NO" without any explanation. Our waitress, on the other hand, was much nicer and offered to move us to a different table, which was the one we had originally asked about. But then, the so-called "manager" came over, told the waitress we had to move, and insisted we couldn't stay there, even though there was plenty of space and no wait. It felt like the manager was just being difficult and making a point to be rude for no reason. The table could easily accommodate us, yet we were being treated like we were inconveniencing them. At that point, we had enough of the awful service, and we simply walked out. I've never encountered such rude and unprofessional behavior, and it's clear that the staff here is only interested in making things hard for customers instead of providing a pleasant dining experience. We'll take our business elsewhere to places that actually know how to treat patrons with respect. I will never return to any of their locations again. If you want to be treated like an inconvenience, this is the place for you. read more

I had high hopes for Madres Brunch, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. First off, the service was abysmal. Once seated, it took 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge us and take our drink orders. The food was another letdown. I ordered the birria Benedict and let's say it was mid at the very least. They tried to trick you thinking you're getting big portions by filling up the plate with garden salad. You're getting overpriced mid food. Don't let the colorful pancakes and waffles fool you. Food coloring was used to achieve the color. Additionally, the ambiance left much to be desired. The restaurant was loud and cramped, making it hard to have a conversation. The tables were so close together that it felt like we were dining with strangers. All I heard was techno music...uhtz, uhtz, uhtz. Is this a rave or a food establishment? I had the pleasure of dining at Madres in Whittier today, and it was a wonderful experience. The ambience was warm and welcoming, creating a perfect atmosphere for a relaxing meal. I was excited to try their wide selection of lattes and coffees, so I ordered the coffee flight. It included the Horchata Latte, Abuelita Latte, and Pistachio Latte, and all three were absolutely delicious. The only downside is that you can only select three out of four specific flavors for the flight with hot drinks, but they also offer four different flavors if you opt for cold drinks instead. For my meal, I ordered the Chilaquiles, which were incredibly flavorful, and the portion was so generous that I couldn't finish it all. I also had a pancake on the side, which was light, fluffy, and a perfect complement to the meal. The service was excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive, and gave us plenty of time to enjoy our conversation without feeling rushed. They topping will gladly flow once the silver cylinder is lifted to expose the strawberry syrup with its crumbs. I highly recommend this place. I was there this morning with my girls a group of 4. Friday Morning and it was a very short wait. Let's start off by the great customer service we got offer it was my first time there and I made the best decision going there the food was delicious and their vanilla latte was too. My server kianna was amazing she was very professional and kept checking on my table to make shure everything was good. I will definitely be going back. The restaurant was very nice and most important clean. I tried there chilaquiles with Birria and omg delicious I also tried their chocolate pancakes they are delicious. At the end we ordered their Mimosas Christian brought them to us he was very nice and explain the flavors I will definitely order them again it's a must to try if your there. I got up and asked if they could come to our table because we have two diabetic family members. The host I spoke with said he would send someone, but there was some attitude. Our waiter came and was kind, but the whole experience has been awful. We waited over an hour and twenty five minutes after being seated for our food to arrive, and they didn't bring it all out at once. My pancakes ended up having a hair in them and had to be sent back. We have since asked for a manager to come to the table 2x, and they have not come. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It has ruined our last Mother's Day with our grandmother before she moves away later this year. Over two hours wasted total waiting to be seated and for our food to arrive.
