The food was great. The restaurant was quaint and nicely decorated. Part of downtown Redlands row of restaurants. We were a large group, the server was attentive and fast. We were in a back room and for our large group and it was very nice.

Date with hubby. Recommended getting sat by the big picture windows but you are limited to only one set of menus, not able to order from the bar menu. The seating is beautiful but couch-side is a bit low compared to the table height. Service was quick and prompt. The chicken piccata and ragu came out fresh and hot. We shared a Caesar salad as well. All decent dishes. The cockatiel menu had some interesting mixes but we opted out. Overall, a lovely picturesque spot to have a meal. I can see a large party happening here since the interior is so well-done. The restrooms are nicely decorated and quite stylish too.

Loved this place. It's very elegant. Great for date nights. We are here around 4:30pm on a Monday. Not busy at all. Our waiter was very friendly and gave recommendations when asked. I loved my food and drink option. The Dolce Agave tasted like a sweet lime drink. My Penne Vodka al Fungi was very savory with excellent flavor. I loved the mushrooms in them. I was very pleased with our experience here. The focaccia bread was a nice touch. The prices are reasonable here. Dolce Agave "Sweet Agave" Mocktail: 4.5/5 Focaccia: 4/5 Penne Vodka al Fungi: 4.5/5 (one of the best pastas I've had) Garlic Cheese Bread: 4.5/5 Spaghetti al Pomodoro: 4/5 (good, lacking some flavor) Penne al Gorgonzola 4.5/5 (also one of the best pastas I've had, loved the pine nuts)

Really great lunch! The honey goat cheese dip was yummy! Maybe two more pieces of bread would have been nice but it was fantastic. I loved the Italian sandwich and chips they served with it. they were warm and super fresh! The service was friendly and attentive and the restaurant and bathroom were clean. It's a comfortable dim vibe and very happy with our choice to try here today!!!!

We came in on a Thursday night to check out Madri and were genuinely pleasantly surprised--especially by the remodel. The space now feels like an upscale Italian sports-bar-meets-farmhouse vibe, and it really works for downtown Redlands. We were seated right away just before the dinner rush, and the hostess kindly accommodated our request to sit along the wall. It ended up being the perfect spot because we could see the entire restaurant and all of the TVs behind the bar. The bar area is especially pretty--modern,and inviting without feeling chaotic. The TVs were playing a mix of sports, Nickelodeon, and even a movie channel. We started with the bruschetta and I loved that the tomatoes were served on the side so the crostini didn't get soggy--such a thoughtful touch. My husband ordered the mushroom risotto and the flavor was spectacular--rich and comforting. I had the lasagna, which wasn't overhyped but was still very enjoyable. They offer a small but solid selection of wine and beer, plus cocktails. The space can accommodate both small and large parties, and the service was incredible from start to finish. Overall, the experience was very pleasant, and Madri feels like a great new option for a casual dinner that still feels a little elevated.

Went here for a date night and there wasn't a wait. We're seated in the bar area. Had a nice vibe. We ordered the bruschetta and the calamari. These were pretty average. We also ordered the meatballs and the mushroom risotto. Ok so I think they forgot about our food. The food came out about 35 mins later and was cold as hell. The mushrooms were maybe oyster mushrooms and they were so tough and connected all at the base. You couldn't cut them apart. It a was like a whole mushroom bush! We didn't complain and ate around the mushroom tree and just ate the outside of the meatball, then left. I think this place is cute and hope our time was a fluke, but we won't be back. Sadly.

Went for my mom's bday. It was good, but a bit pricey, but honestly what isn't in DTR anymore. Especially right there. The service was good, our waiter was patient and nice, however, his "personality" wouldn't fit everyone, some would find him "too direct." The food was good, but as I said, some was very overpriced for what it was. We all kind of got something different and just shared with each other. The ambiance is cool. I remember when this place used to be Romano's Chicago pizza, it was dark then & it still is now, unless you sit at the bar & they have the windows open.

It was a very busy night... World Series Dodger game... I don't think they were expecting so many people.... The place filled up... We had a couple of issues with our order... Cesar salads were old... didn't receive drinks until we were almost finished... my son ordered the steak dinner.. the steak was tough... our server was buried.... We had a stack of plates on our table that never got picked up..... we weee celebrating a special birthday.. my 13 yr old granddaughter... the server dropped off some vanilla ice cream.. no candle... nothing... ‍ The decor is really nice....

Linguine alla Carbonara (pancetta, Parmesan cheese, onions and cracked black pepper in a carbonara sauce) added shrimp to this

This cute little restaurant is easy to find if you're walking along Orange Street. My only negative is parking can be rather hard to find. My girlfriend and I decided to have lunch here and I'm glad she chose this place. We were greeted right away and shown to our table as we made reservations. The menu is pretty self explanatory as each dish explains what's in it. We ordered the goat cheese and honey dip to start off with. OMG, the dip was so delicious. We each ordered a pasta and shared. We ordered the penned vodka al fungi and linguine alla carbonara with shrimp. Both pasta dishes were delicious also. Both very filling and flavorful. Definitely a place I would like to come back to and try their other dishes and they look and sound delicious.

My group of 6 (4 adults, 2 kids) stopped by this restaurant to have Italian food for dinner after spending the day at the Live Oak farm for the Halloween/Fall Festival activities. We had high hopes/expectations for this restaurant since the reviews for place were quite positive. The biggest positive was our experience with our server. She was very attentive the entire time we were there, but the food itself was mediocre at best. We started off with the calamari appetizer, but it wasn't that great. The calamari inside didn't taste fresh and had a very fishy odor that is not typical for higher quality calamari appetizers. The pasta was alright because the sauce was tasty, but our penne was definitely overcooked and lacked that al dente texture from a higher quality Italian restaurant. In fact, my party semi-joked that it tasted like pasta from Olive Garden. The next disappointment was the pizza (both pizzas). The sauce and cheese were alright, but the crust was downright tough to eat. I likened it toasted cardboard because it was quite hard and dry. My wife mentioned it was similar to eating frozen pizza that was microwaved. My group visited New York for a week back in the spring this year, so we do acknowledge that our standards for good Italian food have risen significantly, but I think this restaurant was a genuine disappointment overall. We will not be coming back here anytime soon.

Alright... what's the pasta recipe!? Woooooooow it was delicious! A little more on the formal side with a splash of bougee casual. There isn't much to say other than good food, yummy drinks, and a bomb Alfredo. Looking forward to coming back!

Fantastic!! Dined on September 20, 2025. The place is modern with a very classy Italian vibe! Plenty of seating in the both the restaurant and bar. SERVICE: Super friendly team here from the entry, bartenders and servers. Very attentive and accommodating. FOOD: Tonight we sat at the bar, and we had the chicken piccata and the New York steak. Both were absolutely delicious. Added some extra pictures from our last visit too. Don't forget to try their Italiano (old fashioned) Everything here is great, if you haven't tried them yet, go give them a try!

    Melissa S.

Madri's is fantastic! I've been looking for new Italian options in the area. The drinks and food is superb. The Sunset Sour, a twist on a classic whiskey sour offers Aperol in place of whiskey and is frothed with egg whites. A delicious beverage that encompasses Italian cuisine and artistic expression. The Italiano, a twist on an Old Fashioned is equally as delicious. The whipped goat cheese and pistachio appetizer is perfect for a little sweet, yet bold beginner. I accompanied it with the savory insalata caprese that was refreshing and a palate cleanser for the various flavors of the meal. Their tiramisu is the best tiramisu I have ever had. I am a tiramisu snob as it's my favorite dessert. It's difficult to choose a star of the show, but this dessert was front and center. The interior is casual, yet upscale. The service is top notch. Ryan constantly checked on us to make sure the quality was up to par and to make sure we had everything we needed. This is going to be in the regular rotation from now on.

It's a perfect place for a date or a night out with friends or family. The focal point of the main dining room is the bar, which faces the restaurant's entrance. Meticulously designed with a nostalgic feel, the bar features blonde wood shelves holding hundreds of vinyl records, carefully curated design objects, and a DJ booth neatly tucked into a corner next to the bar. The beer taps are elegantly minimalist, and every detail in the bar--for example, the old-fashioned glass syrup bottles--seems planned to give a nod to history (specifically the late 19th century, when Redlands was founded). The main dining room offers plenty of comfortable seating choices, including a long bar along the center of the room. The patio is spacious and well kept. All of the spaces inside and out have music piped in from the bar. There are two restrooms just off the patio, and these are well-maintained. On busy nights, patrons can enjoy a drink in a standing bar area just off the patio. I love that the Overland provides a choice of setting depending on the kind of night you're planning. A romantic date? Get a reservation to sit inside, and it feels intimate. Just hanging out? The bar is fun as the mixologists make excellent drinks and friendly conversation. Sitting at the bar after 7 PM, you can watch the DJs spin the platters. If you have a larger group or just like to eat alfresco, the patio is perfect. The menu offers a really nice variety of drinks, including the pricier craft cocktails, more classic, moderately priced beverages, nonalcoholic drinks, and all sorts of beer and wine. The food menu is solid, with plenty of appetizers, salads, entrées, and a dessert. The real star is the tacos! These are very moderately priced at seven dollars apiece, and all three varieties are delicious! There is a potato taco, a beef taco, and pork chili Verde taco. I highly recommend these! The green salsa they provide is extremely mild, but they do have a variety of hot sauces on hand. It's worth mentioning that even a humble plate of tacos is served on nice ceramic dishes, along with good flatware and napkins. The espresso martini cheesecake is creamy and delicious, and the portion is really generous. The staff seem to enjoy working at the Overland. The servers work hard to make sure your order is to your liking, and food comes out pretty fast. There's a good sense of teamwork among them. The staff is also accommodating about seating or any special requests. We've been there on a busy Friday night, and on a Sunday evening and late night. The Overland is always at least moderately busy, so reservations are strongly recommended. The city of Redlands should be very proud of this establishment. Go and have fun!

We seated ourselves at our favorite raised table in the corner on the far side of the bar. My husband and I stuck to traditional cocktails, and old fashioned and a Negroni. Our friends chose signature cocktails: the Turbo Granny and the Electric Feel. Now the Electric Feel was not just a drink, it was an experience. Our server explained to our friend that he should sip a little of the drink, then chew the Szechuan buzz bud for about 15 seconds, letting it coat his whole tongue, then enjoy the rest of the drink which would taste different afterwards. Our friend went through all those steps and said it was incredible, like all the flavors were enhanced along with different sensations in his mouth, kind of numb and tingly. His wife was not satisfied with his description of the experience, so she bought a Szechuan buzz bud for $2 and she said it was kind of like pop rocks. These buzz bud looks just like a little flower bud like the end of a dandelion once the seeds are blown away. It comes from a plant. Totally fascinating! We enjoyed our one cocktail each here and just had great conversation. It was a fun night because of the company, and also because we had a little adventure going to two amazing places!

We decided on weekend brunch, especially since there were endless mimosas. Our kids have a recollection of being down the class umbrella alleyway, so they were amazed when they saw it. A short while later, we were in front of the restaurant and were quickly seated by the staff. They didn't ask if we preferred outdoor or indoor seating, but we were seated inside right next to the kitchen. We heard that indoor seating was better for service anyway. The interior of the restaurant was "very fancy," and my daughter thought we were in a date spot. We knew we wanted French fries and opted for the garlic Parmesan fries. At first, the kids were weirded out by the arugula, but my daughter ended up enjoying it, noting the bitter and salty notes. My son devoured the entire plate (not the arugula) and asked for another round. We also ordered the lemon ricotta French toast, made from Brioche bread, lemon blackberry butter, whipped lemon ricotta cream, blackberries, mint, and maple syrup. They perfected the crispy exterior, which contrasted well with the fluffy bread. My wife ordered the breakfast pizza--a focaccia pizza topped with marinara, ham, spinach, fresh tomato, red onion, a sunny-side-up egg, and herb-infused maple syrup. This was really delicious with the tart, fresh tomatoes, the salty ham, and the sweet maple syrup. I ended up eating the sunny-side egg by itself, so we didn't get to try the pizza with the egg. Lastly, I ordered the steak and eggs, but it was sadly a small portion. I ordered it medium rare, and it came out medium. The seasoning was a bit strange and would have been better with simple salt, pepper, and garlic. The mimomas really made my wife happy. She started feeling it pretty quickly. She chose the pineapple juice while I got the traditional orange. Not sure if the alcohol made the food better or the other way around. I was brought to reality when I saw the expensive bill, though.

Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the hype. Service was the main issue. The bartenders seemed inexperienced, and our server wasn't familiar with the drinks, often needing to check with someone else. It took about 20 minutes to receive our first round. Our reservation was at 10:30, we were seated until 10:40, and the place closes at midnight so timing already felt tight. Because of the wait, we asked to order two drinks at once for the next round, but were told it's limited to one at a time. That would be understandable if service were faster, but it took another 20 minutes to get the second drink. We were also told drinks from the regular menu take longer, so I tried one from the specialty menu...still a 20-minute wait. It was a frustrating experience. That said, the space itself is smaller and more intimate, which could make it a nice date spot. I do think this place has potential, and I'd consider giving it another chance, hopefully with smoother service next time. Oh Beignets were amazing!! Yummy little donuts!

Probably a fifth of the size of the one in Rancho. The room was so small and cramped. We sat at the round tables which was small for 2 people, and they were spaced so close to each other. Another couple sat next to us and we could here their entire conversation. The space is just so cramped. Maybe 6 round tables with barely a foot apart. Then the bar top basically when someone is sitting there, theres less then a foot of space to go inbetween. The decor is beautiful. I did enjoy the library theme. Service here is a disappointment. There was inly 2 groups (including ourselves) when we arrived and service was excessively slow. On their featured cocktails which was the same as the one in Rancho (6 drinks?), they were already out of the first 2. And mind you, they've only been open for 2 hours. We asked them to prepare unique off the menu drinks. They basically gave us drinks from the main restaurant menu. Rum for the hills and an old fashion. The bartender at the Rancho location is so much better and nicer and way more creative. Able to create unique individual drinks off the top of his head. Not here though. She asked us what we were ordering at least times. And she still got our orders (food) wrong. The glass was sticky from the sugars. We ordered no grilled onions on the burger and it came with grilled onions. She was so unsure of what they carried (alcohol wise) that she had to go ask the other guy on multiple occasions. When the bill came, we didnt get a pen to sign it with. So we went to the bar area. The guy was a total A-hole. He was like what do you want? Woah guy. We're trying to give you more of our hard earned money via tip and sign this check so we can get the heck out of here. Like chill bro. We should be there ones angry with how bad the evening went. Not you. There were multiple flies flying around our table and food. A large fly, and then a small gnat around our drink. It was gross. Overall, it was a terrible experience here. There was mystique (I give you that, love the books). But nothing high end or exclusive about it. Usage of the space and their knowledge of the drinks reminds me of a run down dive bar. They need the bartender from Rancho to come here and revamp everything about this place. The only good thing here is that we were able to order burgers (full menu availability) in this speakeasy as suppose to the one in Victoria Gardens. But besides that, I am 100% not coming back. It just isnt worth it.

Food was delicious!!!…read more I had the nachos and they were very substantial. I asked if the sauces on top had mayo and was told they only have cream Our waiter was great as well, very attentive! I wish I'd gotten his name The music was good but it was a little too loud I couldn't hear the other people at my table, and they are not quiet ladies. The walk to the bathroom was an experience though. It felt like you were entering catacombs so weird. Otherwise everyone working there was nice, all 3 of us love our food, the starter portions were more than enough for one person to have as an entree. Sharing between 2 people would be a good portion but idk the size of entrees because we only got starters. Seemed nice and clean too Enjoyed our time here, we will be back

The food was great, the drinks refreshing, and the service so polite! But the music was so loud…read more We were sat in the back by the bar with minimal wait on a Saturday night. 6 people and maybe 15 min wait. Our waitress has on break, but this was communicated well and rhe other staff stepped in until she returned. We got a mix of drinks and food and loved every sip and bite. I will say the serving sizes are not what I'm used to for a Mexican restaurant but not tiny, around 2 to 3 tacos per plate. I got the birra tacos and I do wish they would have had a side but it wasn't a huge issue. Now the music for the elephant in the room. It was very loud in the small space. I would say club level, which is a lot for a dining experience. It didn't take away too much, just made talking hard. Another summer specific thing to point out, it is not the standard California A/c situation. We were in not way dying of heat, but it was warm. The day's temperature was around 102° so that of course was taken into account. If you have a group of friends that need some yummy food, this is your spot. Just maybe not a 1st date location, OR the perfect 1st date place

Had a chance to visit both the State in Rancho and Redlands. This review will be for Redlands…read more To put it simply- Amazing spot in the heart of Redlands. The quality of food was fresh, prepared just right, and the service was fast and welcoming. It's in the nice down town Redlands area so never too busy or loud, in the small city. Our server, Aubrey, was also AWESOME so definitly give her a raise lol. My buddies and I were wanting some steaks and drinks after work, and we were not disappointed. 100% will be back. The only thing to be weary of is if you get outdoor seating. Many folks downtown tend to smoke marijuana so sometimes the smell will make its way into the patio area.

I absolutely loved the decor of this place with a big open bar. Dark Victorian meets industrial,…read morewith birdcage chandeliers and low-lit wall sconces. Definitely a fun spot for a fancy cocktail--or, in my case, a mocktail. I ordered the Hibiscus Cooler and LOVED it. The food was more of a mixed bag. I ordered the Poblano Burger, and the deep-fried poblano was SO good. Unfortunately, I ordered the patty medium and it came out overcooked. The fries were also a little undercooked, and the burger could have used more sauce. Tasty overall, just not quite hitting the mark. Then came dessert... and this is where the experience really went downhill. I ordered the crème brûlée because I've had it elsewhere and had been craving it. While waiting, I stepped away to use the restroom. When I came back, my entire table--including my drinks--had been cleared. I had literally just ordered dessert and never indicated I was finished. The server seemed confused when I questioned it, which made the whole thing even more awkward. And unfortunately, the crème brûlée itself was also a miss. The sugar topping was torched too long and had a noticeably bitter, burnt flavor. The server (and possibly a manager) apologized, and I was given $2 off the drink, which I appreciated. Between the okay food and the especially strange service and lack of communication the experience left me disappointed. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight, but for me, the service experience was enough to say I probably won't be back anytime soon.

I am a huge fan of open mic nights. I have found a few really good ones in the area and love…read moreattending them. I feel like a fangirl, hoping that my favourite performers will be there. I hope one day to see them on the stage so I can say, "I got to see them when they were small fries." The Vault hosts a lot of events, including musical open mic nights. I still prefer Writers Block's open mic night (the first Wednesday of every month). I am shocked that the event is free, with how talented the poets are. I have bought several books from one of the local poets (shout out to Winry Hagerty!!) who sells her work at the poetry event. The last time I went there were stickers from an artist, some leather works, books by poets for sale. The atmosphere at The Vault during Open Mic Night is vibrant and supportive. The audience is engaged and respectful, providing an encouraging environment for the performers to shine. It's worth noting that this event is not only entertaining but also affordable. It's free. If you're looking for an enjoyable and affordable evening filled with talent and creativity, make sure to check out The Vault's Open Mic Night.

I'm not going to be back, unless I am paid or compensated…read more I drove an whole ass hour out of town to play a FREE set at this bar, and make them money, and the asshole bartender TRENT thought that it was appropriate to not only wildly knock on the bathroom door as I was taking a shit from the drive, but to barge in on me and yell that I was "taking too long" and wildly accused me of using narcotics. I had been in there for literally 3 minutes at that point. And if I wanted to do that shit, my car was right outside. I tried to explain to him that I had just returned back inside from a smoke, but all he did was threaten to kick me out for literally NO FUCKING REASON. I am transgender, and while this used to be one of my favorite spots, I will never be returning. I have been made to feel unsafe and unwelcome at this bar and I regret the fact I spent money on beer just to calm my fucking nerves after the incident. If youre worried about people using the bathroom and taking their time, get more fucking bathrooms, and dont treat out of town talent like shit. Especially queer talent, if you're a so called "safe space"
