This is probably the toughest review of a restaurant for me to write because I have been going here for years and I have had a large range of different experiences. I can say though, I have never been unhappy with my food, despite what I see and hear from others about this place. Id say most of my iffyness lies in the staff. As a waitress myself, I am extremely(probably more than normal) tolerant of bad service because I always try to give places benefit of the doubt. But there were definitely more than a couple times where my waitress didn't check on us or was rude or food took a noticeably long time. But there were also many times where service was great and my food came out fast. So again, it's hard to quite give a solid rating. What I can say is there is a lot of food that I really liked here. As for appetizers, I tend to most order the Tex-Mex Eggrolls, Crab Rangoons, Nachos, or Thai Lettuce Wraps(Which actually can make a great healthy entree choice. I have tried their French Onion and Chicken Tortellini soups and I'm not a fan but the salads are great! I don't know why but I am obsessed with their Caesar Salad with Blackened chicken, I will even just get their Caesar salad as a side or add-on to a meal because it is so delicious. Simple, I know, but I just see myself always coming back to it. For meals, I recommend their Chicken Milanese, Pilgrim Sandwich, Bang-Bang Shrimp And Chicken, and Orange Chicken! For dessert, their carrot cake is great. The frosting is pretty sweet on it though, so if you don't have a big sweet tooth like I do then I wouldn't go for it. I actually had a friend when I was in college who knew how much I loved this cake so much so that they bought it for me as my birthday gift and brought it to school in a cooler...I was so happy that day. read more

We had a great experience at Maggie Mcflys! I was able to call ahead for our party of 7 and we ended up only waiting for a table for 5-10 minutes on a Saturday night. The menu was HUGE!! Reminded me of the Cheesecake Factory menu. There is something for everyone. You just have to take the time to read through it all! Burgers, pasta, seafood, Mexican, salads, etc. The drink menu was also extensive and our drinks were amazing!! Our waitress was prompt and checked back with us multiple times throughout our meal. We were shocked with how fast our food came out! Everyone enjoyed their meals however one of the members of our party had a seafood dish come out lukewarm. Afraid of getting food poisoning he sent it back. The manager sincerely apologized multiple times, offered a soup/salad and ended taking off the entire meal completely when we got the check! I have worked in the restaurant business and I believe the management couldn't have handled the negative situation any better than they did (I was impressed). Overall we had a very fun experience and will definitely be recommending this place to all of our friends!! read more

Plain white bread, stuffing from a box, gravy I assume was stolen from a local elementary school, and a smear of cranberry sauce that would leave most mice wanting. In general the food is bland, under seasoned, boring, diner fare. Except diners have charm, history and character, all absent at Maggie McFly's. I hate to say, but this is yet another example of a great looking restaurant that's all frill and no substance. read more

We rented the golf simulator area for a surprise party. When we arrived there was still a party in the room. No tables had been bussed and the waitress was unsure how to get them out. The room which we reserved for 3 hours was not set up as promised, tables were a mess, trash on the floor. The apps were being brought out on time but no place to put them as they did not have clean tables or even an app table as promised. There was only 1 server for 20+ guests and we didnt receive drinks or even water for 50 minutes. The manager who I spoke to only comped us an extra hour of golf play after I complained that the service was poor and the golf computers kept shutting off. I was high disappointed and would warn anyone wanting to host a gathering to avoid. The food was good, but horrible service! read more

Did I mention I am behind on my reviews? Bear with me. We dined here on vacation this summer. The menu was huge, and a bit overwhelming to try to decided (especially when you're really hungry). We have had the opportunity to eat at Maggie's 4 times so far and our most recent visit was the best. The food and service is usually good, nothing special, but this time it was above average. Turns out it's just some random aviatrix. Whatever. Big place, full bar and lot's of booths. Seemed like a family-type crowd on a Sunday night. Food was decent enough. Good-sized portions. Extensive menu. We got the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer and burgers for dinner. No complaints. Would I come here on a Friday or Saturday night to carouse at the bar? Probably not. Has a decidedly Buffalo Wild Wings-esque feel to it. Not my cup of tea. Not my crowd. But overall not a bad place to grab dinner and drinks. read more

Good American food with a nice atmosphere. I really like the Ruben sanwich. The fries are ok. The kids menu is great. The waiter was very helpful with the kids while they decided what they wanted to eat and even put in a late cheeseburger for someone who didn't want any food at first. It's a very clean dining area and everyone is friendly and the food is good. I'm sure the food could be better, but not much. We stopped for lunch while on a road trip. Stop by for a St. Paddys day meal of corned beef and cabbage. Started off with a pretzel as big as a baseball glove hanging from a hook with 2 dipping sauces. We then moved on to Portions of epic proportions. The corned beef was cooked perfect and was piled high like I like it. The cabbage was done equally as good. A few potatoes were chucked in there and made the plate. Our server Matt was spot on, he made sure I did not have to ask for another Guinness, as soon as one was beginning to look low another showed up. Capped it off with an Irish car bomb cupcake big enough to share. Great time, great meal and great service. Edit: Opened up the leftover container and I have enough for a samich today!! read more

I ate at Maggie Mc'Fly's last night. Hands down the WORST dining experience of my life. I am newly engaged, and was celebrating with my newly announced bridesmaids. For the past three times I had been there, I was not carded, and since I was not paying for the meal this time I did not think to bring my wallet. (I completely understand being wary of not serving to someone without identification). However, I did not expect to be treated with such hostility by the manager the entire night. As we waited OVER AN HOUR for our food to be served, the manager was whispering to every employee and pointing at our table without being discrete whatsoever. It made us uncomfortable to try to eat while being stared at. I had completely lost my appetite. Later in the evening, the women in my bridal party who DID have their identification were denied the ability to order any alcoholic drinks (by the way, refusal to serve is illegal) and even if I was under 21, my mother was there, and in Connecticut the consumption of alcohol by minors is legal if the parent is present. Also, my bridesmaid is severely allergic to shellfish, and made it clear to the waitress about her condition but was still served shrimp. And after we had sent her food back, the manager glared at us through the glass window. We were not disruptive, we were not causing a scene, yet we were being treated as children. I would have tolerated every mishap if it weren't for the gossiping and rudeness by the manager. The waitress, Kristen, was wonderful and I truly felt bad that the manager was putting her in the middle of an awkward situation. (We still gave her a good tip for our meal). I felt like I was in the middle of a petty high school drama. This was supposed to be an important and special night, but I had left the restaurant in tears. I have been coming to this restaurant for five years. And it breaks my heart to say they have lost the business of eight customers, including our families. read more

I've eaten at Maggie's before, at a couple of locations and love the Thai lettuce wraps. We went to the Middlebury location. I was really looking forward to supporting them during this weird time. My BF and I arrived at approximately 2:00 on a Sunday and observed that they were pretty busy, but had outdoor seating set up. We walked into the bar area to see the hostess and get a table, but there was no one there. We approached the bar and the bartender asked if we wanted a seat. They had nice plexiglass dividers for the bar patrons and he was standing behind one at the tap. The bar, unfortunately was filthy- I think because the plexiglass made it hard to clean, but that wasn't the worst part ... the taps and the bartender was swarmed with small flies!!! We said "were waiting on the hostess" and stood awkwardly for a minute and I told my BF, let's go... and we left. Driving out of the parking lot, we noticed tons of garbage overflowing the dumpster and boxes everywhere. It was pretty bad. I said, maybe they are just overwhelmed- let's go to the Brookfield restaurant instead, it's on the way home.... to be con't... when we got to Brookfield, unfortunately it wasn't any better. The outdoor area was filthy. The booths stained and obviously pulled out of storage or something as they were a mess. The floor was dirty and the server used a wet cloth that looked like he'd been using it all day to "clean" the table We sat at. So disappointing. She ordered GLUTEN FREE pasta with lobster Mac n cheese.. she got REGULAR pasta with NO lobster.. we won't send food back, we do t like the taste of spit and your establishment reminds me of the spit and snot type... if you can't hire competent staff, we won't back. It's not rocket science, just because you ran out of gluten free pasta doesn't mean you can substitute regular pasta.. my wife had heartburn and worse all night. The owner owes an apology. I had a very disappointing experience at Maggie McFly's in Brookfield. The remodel is nice and the service was fine, however, the meal was very disappointing. I ordered scallop tacos, which were supposed to be served with chili sauce and bacon. The tortillas were not warmed, the scallops were slathered in chili sauce, making it impossible to taste the scallop, and, rather than bacon, there was uncooked meat which looked like ham on top. To add insult to injury, they charged an additional $2.99 PER TACO because they were "specialty" tacos. The upcharge was listed in small writing on the menu. This brought the price of my meal to a whopping $27. for 3 tacos that were not as advertised. I did reach out to the restaurant to express my disappointment after having been a long time customer, and I got no response. Needless to say, this restaurant has been taken off my list! read more

As for gourmet or the entree dishes I would have to give a thumbs down I ordered the shrimp stuffed with crab and brown rice. Not much flavor and the brown was hard and undercooked . My friend order a steak which was OVER cooked although she ordered medium well, it was dry and pretty much burnt . We did the best we could with the meal but had to end up sending the steak back . The manager was very understanding and provided my friend with a new steak entree and removed it off of the bill so they are very good with customer service .. but I would say it a sports bar so keep it simple with drinks and apps. read more

Amazing for big groups, especially with their huge and comfortable red couch like booths. They food portions are very big, and the prices are definitely reasonable. The menu will remind you of the Cheesecake Factory it is huge and has a ton of variety, but this place also offers local raised grass fed beef, and other locally fresh produce and meats which I love. I will certainly return with my family soon, especially since it's one of the few restaurant with booths that can fit 8-10 people easily and comfortably. read more

Maggie McFly's is spacious with a nice atmosphere, but the food and service are both lacking. Our server was scarce, and, even though more tables were empty than full, we hardly saw her. One person's water was served in dirty glass with food encrusted on it. Both food and drink service were extremely slow, and when the food came.... Burgers were not cooked as ordered, and the Crab Hash was much more of a potato hash with just some flecks of crab in it, with the eggs also not cooked as ordered. We waited, but could not find the server, and by the time the server came back, we'd been there so long, we could not stay any longer. Most of my food was sent back, telling the server that it was not very good. Would not recommend. read more

I visited this place for the first time with a group of friends after a long drive to Connecticut. The service was great and food arrived quickly. The portions were very generous that everyone packed something home. I ordered the sausage cavatelli pasta and to be honest it was not seasoned. My husband ordered the roasted beef and it was very over cooked. Members of my party agreed that food was nothing spectacular. I'd describe the food close to home made, although in my house I season lightly. It's a good place to stop by but not somewhere i'm racing back to anytime soon. read more

Visited Maggie McFly's for the first time yesterday. I'll start with the positives. Really nice atmosphere, clean open kitchen, you can see your meal get cooked, if preferred. Large booths and ample seating. They have quite a few gluten free options/substitutions and the food was actually really good with large portions. Priced menu items are ok ($9.99 for a wedge salad, I thought was a little pricey). Now the negatives: Large menu with too many items, so takes a while to order (no kidding, it's a binder filled with waaayyyy too many choices, Jon Taffer 101)!! I don't believe I've ever seen 2-3 pages of just appetizers/snacks. Service was forever and our server apologized for everything!! My family is still awaiting the additional bread sticks that they requested with their pasta meals!! Plates were left after appetizers were served. We stacked and watch our server and even the floor manager pass it a few times (we were served additional drinks and still the plates remained). Since I have stomach issues, I ordered off the very large and overwhelming pasta section, Longhini with Sweet Italian Sausage & Cavatelli but substituted the pasta for their gluten-free penne for an additional $1.99, needed a little salt but once I added, it was really good!! Now for the even worse, as we drove home, I start getting stomach cramps that worsened. I had quite a few visits to the bathroom during the night and this morning. As I'm writing this, my stomach is still not right!! So, one of two these, the sausage could have been bad and was not keep at the right temperature (having that many items on your menu, is everything kept fresh? The owner Ray reached out to me in regards to my first review and genuinely cared that my experience wasn't what it should've been, which I really appreciated and made me want to try Maggie's a second time. We generally stop here when we are in the Danbury area and sick of the usual spots we go to. We've never had a bad meal here and service has always been good, if a tad bit slow. BUT they have the Impossible Burger on the menu, which I just discovered today! I'm so happy more and more restaurants are embracing plant based options for vegans and those (me) who can't consume certain foods. The burger was cooked perfectly and I loved it. My husband got the fried fish sandwich and New England clam chowder. His chowder was thick, chock full of clams and well seasoned. My family and I went to celebrate my wife's birthday. We called ahead and reserved one of the golf simulators, the plan was to have a few appetizers and drinks while using the golf simulator. The service was good, waitresses were attentive and the food came out hot. My daughters were disappointed that the cup cake featured on "Cupcake Wars" was not available. The golf simulator was a different story, several times it froze and had to be re - started until finally we decided that we had had enough. The staff was attentive and responsive to the issues, the simulator itself was the issue. The manager took the golf charges off the bill - without us asking - which was fair. Only one waitress though (at least it seemed) ...but I'll tell you a secret..she's actually a super hero, her ability to bus tables, take orders, carry plates and glasses, and converse with clients..amazing!! I thought that my physical therapy was paying off and I told the guy i can hold the order and he let me hold it and I dropped it because my arm is paralyzed i was not ready i was so embarrassed and everyone even him treated me with kindness. Everyone in here is very nice and I love this place they treat everyone with respect I was crying because I felt embarrassed that my disability got in the way, but everyone made me feel human. They took my disability and they didn't care and they made me feel human. I like this place the man the man saw me drop food, and he didn't even disrespect me once he helped me clean it quietly that's a sign of a good person everyone around me was so loving and catering to my physical paralysis I was treated like a normal human im in tears so happy i was scared of going out of my house I normally dont leave because my disability, but they made me feel so comfortable like omg they were so nice to my disability i think I just found my new favorite place honestly there's wonderful ppl here and the service is amazing i was crying embarrassed and they all treated me like a normal human im crying lol and they all are looking at me with respect thats omg my heart I feel a little bit like humanity has restored it's Faith here im no longer insecure about my disability in an establishment my heart is healed here i finally felt human outside i love them this is amazing i don't leave my house like in 26 years. This is the first place that has ever made me feel like a human. Im so freiking greatful they knew my arm is paralyzed, and the whole staff treated me like a normal person my heart is so happy and full omg i love this place im not even a Connecticut resident, but I'm gonna be coming here every week. I finally feel human and like I can go out to eat again. I finally feel like human again omg i love their service these are truly good ppl im here crying typing to apologize for dropping things with my paralyzed arm and they ate cleaning ready to go I dont feel embarrassed here my heart is omg feeling amazing this is the first time in my life for my condition never mattered they didn't care. They just took my money and treated me like a normal person im so happy i love this place for Mother's Day. Turkey burger was subpar and dont bother with the lobster mac. Bang bang shrimp and chicken never disappoints!!! Had asian chicken salad last night it was excellent! The lobster and avocado egg roll is on point. White Sangria is golden...addictive. I had to change it up...extensive menu. Something for everyone...not the best or worst! Normally have a wonderful experience here. We recommend Maggie's to all of our friends and family. Last night, however had a very disconcerting experience. I am chalking it up to how busy it was. We sat outside and the waitress was really hustling - working really hard. The person who brought our meals appeared to really be hustling as well. That said when she carried our three meals to us, my bunless burger was smashed against her shirt. I commented about it and her response was to say that the burger didn't make her shirt dirty so it was fine, and besides her shirt was already dirty from the kitchen. Even before COVID, having a customers food touch the waiter or waitresses clothes and hands would not be cool. I tried to raise the issue again but everyone was so busy, I couldn't get anyone else's attention. Needless to say, I didn't eat the half of the burger that had been smashed against her shirt. I love this place and generally have a great experience, just want to raise this so hopefully it doesn't happen again. read more
