It's sad that I have to revoke my previous great review because today my experience may be one of the WORST in all of my yelp elite experiences. Lets first begin with the server. She was inattentive, unpleasant and not very apologetic for her lack of good service, especially when slamming down my co-workers salsa on the table after being asked nicely twice for it. It continued with slow service, late appetizers and meals, to a table of 10 in a section with only 3 other tables being served (not to mention there were multiple servers moving through the area who were helpful and attentive when she wasn't present.) The icing on the cake though was when we received an appetizer with a hair/cloth fiber, not really sure but it was not cheese or bacon. We asked her to please take it and get us another, she without apology or concern took the potato and moved on. Never returning it or asking us if we would like to have a new appetizer made. Then proceeded to put it on the bill. When addressed to her, she took the bill back and had ONE dollar removed for the "piece" of potato we returned. Oh it gets better. I asked to speak with the manager, Sarah I believe her name is. When she approached the table, I explained the situation and all the issues we had with our service. She interjected with a condescending tone and basically told my co-workers and I that we should have asked for her earlier when we had a problem, "well you ate the rest of the appetizer right?" and "really, horrible service and you waited hours, really?" was a few other nice comments she made to us. Overall, I have never in my 5 years of elite dining and 2 years of going to this Maggie McFly's EVER been treated with such impolite and condescending gestures. We were there celebrating a co-worker leaving and moving away and she wanted to go here, and this is how we were treated and her last memory of your establishment. I am appalled and saddened by this and hopefully the owners catch wind of this and it doesn't happen to someone else because this is not a place I would recommend ANYONE to go to until some customer service training is taught and this behavior is addressed and rectified. read more

Joined my family today at Maggie McFlys and decided to try the Lobster & Crab Ravioli...had a small hiccup but the manager immediately fixed it and I am very thankful for his quick action and my great waitress Sam for getting me my food asap. On to the dish, in the kindest way I can say the Lobster & Crab Ravioli is literally clam chowder with ravioli. The dish had 4-6 raviolis which were made well and once I dumped the 10oz of sauce off my plate, was able to taste. Though I am fed I'd love to give some advice. 1. Take this off the menu or re-brand it as clam chowder ravioli - I know it doesn't sound appealing but I'd had several people taste it literally tasted exactly like clam chowder. 2. Decrease the amount of sauce - I'd love to see larger ravioli, maybe 4 stuffed with the seafood and garnished with some shredded crab and the sauce drizzled on top. Overall, service itself was great. Sam was very kind and attentive. The space was clean and though I agree with others the menu is excessive - i spent about 10 mins flipping back and forth saying no to several items. Lastly I'd move the Maggie Specialities to the first few pages rather than the back. read more

We decided to check out this place for dinner as we were up in the area. Arrived around 5:30 pm on a Saturday and there was a 20-25 minute wait, so we went to the bar until our table was ready. No issues finding a seat and the bar staff was very quick to take our drink order. They even make several recommendations as the menu in this place is very overwhelming! Our table was ready right on time and we started with the Octoberfest speciality maple bourbon bacon and medium buffalo wings. The bacon was very tasty....the wings were on the dry side. My husband ordered the jambalaya and I had the chicken avocado sandwich. Both were good, nothing special. For dessert, we had apple crisp, which surprisingly had many undercooked apples. I found the restaurant décor contemporary and stylish. Nice comfortable booths. Wait staff attentive and friendly. I had the mussels and butternut squash soup for lunch. The soup was slightly sweet; I wasn't sure if I liked it. It was terrifically creamy, rich, and piping hot. The mussels were out of this world. They were colossal. There was one with some grit, it happens. They were served in a rich seafood broth, with cream. This is a huge portion. I took the left overs and served the sauce/mussels over linguine which proved to be as good as the original entrée, if not better. Dessert menu was extensive, unfortunately no room. read more

Had a very unpleasant experience here on Friday around 10:45pm. Myself and 2 others went and from the start it wasn't an over the top engagement. Our waiter was very disengaged. Didn't seem enthusiastic, also didn't tell us about the specials they had going on at the time. We just happen to see something that said happy hour specials AFTER we ordered our food because he never gave us the menu that he had on him. The appetizer we ordered, bacon wrapped scallops, were terrible & cold & appeared undercooked (will attach picture). Three other meals we ordered afterwards were also COLD!! I informed the waiter and he said three other people said the same thing that night. The reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of one is because he did take an appetizer & meal off the tables' bill. The waiter didn't have an idea on what they had for beer and did 3 trips up and down to suggest an IPA option. Lobster bisque was decent. Tower of onion rings was disappointing - very bland, the sauces were very bland too. We ordered nachos with chicken - it was bland too. No flavor on the chicken was just boiled dry and sprinkled on top, the dish was served cold with dried up cheese and soaked up chips that were not crisp. Disappointed with the entire experience. Unfortunately, I handed over my debit card to pay the bill and shouldn't have. The service was less than desirable with missteps at every interaction. No lemon for the tea, no ice in the drinks. Sticky menus, bread plates had water on them. Kids burger was overcooked and crumbly, stale bun. I ordered a burger, medium, on a plate with a side salad. 18.95. The burger was past well done, dry and crumbly and the salad was in a bowl the size of a coffee mug. I took 1 bite of the burger,and, because we had plans, decided that I wasn't going to wait for a new burger. I ate the 5 bites of salad. I asked the waitress to take the entree off the bill. The "manager" came to the table and said she would take $10 off. Meaning my 5 bites of salad would come to $9. When I asked again for the entree cost to be removed, she replied "you ate the salad". In a moment of indiscretion, I handed her my card. While there won't be a "next time", I seriously think that the manager (4/16/23 @ lunch) needs a lesson in customer service and the fact that my lunch with the family was ruined. If my entree that was inedible was removed, I probably wouldn't have written a review. Usually, a menu with 12 pages and pictures typically is a red flag for me. Had dinner at this location last night. Usually go to Glastonbury but we were in the area. Food was good - shared ahi tuna nachos - they were tasty, avacado was a tad brown but overall ok. One of us ordered the waygu burger which was cooked well and delicious with sweet potato fries which were great. Also ordered the 3 street tacos. Shrimp, pork and short rib. All were good. Would love to see some spice option with them like salsa or chopped jalapeño. They were out of many desserts we inquired about which was strange for 6 on a Wednesday. Our waitress was very good. The negatives..we do have to say that the place just doesn't seem as clean or as taken care of as the Glastonbury location. There was some bread on the floor by our table and broccoli pieces under our table. Everything felt a bit...sticky. Also, the very loud music playing in the bar area is tiresome. read more

This is my fourth visit to Maggie McFly's. Each visit has been consistent with offering stellar service, food, and atmosphere. I bounce between the Manchester and Glastonbury locations. I default to the Manchester one because it's closer for the others I go with. This time my friend and I split the Crispy Coconut Shrimp, Ahi Poke Stack and the Steak Philly Eggrolls. Each one came out so fresh and tasty! The Crispy Coconut Shrimp is particularly good because it's comes with a Pina Colada dipping sauce that is definitely on the sweet side. Delish! I only got pictures of two of them because my friend had already dug into the Eggrolls and ruined the picture LOL. We had a great time as always and the staff, including our waiter Elijah, was attentive and genuine in making sure we were enjoying ourselves. What a great spot we've found. A coffee & a water w no ice. - They over cooked her burger & forgot the lettuce. My daughter ordered the Cuban, but w the pulled pork on the side & applesauce, instead of fries. & a chocolate milk. -They gave her fries instead of her applesauce. I ordered the 3 taco's (the camarones, Korean beef & the lobster taco), w a side caesar instead of the rice & chickpea quinoa mix. & a caramel macchiato latte. -They gave me the rice & chickpea quinoa mix. Forgot my salad. The second macchiato tasted soooo different from the first. Zero consistency. Which really sucked, on top of my order being half wrong. When Ashleigh noticed the mistakes that the kitchen made she tried to rectify them as quickly as possible, but by the time I got my side salad, we were basically done eating. I ordered 3 cupcakes, 1 for there & 2 to-go. But they were all out of one. The one they did have, said it expired that day, according to the sticker, so that kinda sucked to see that. All together the tab was 82$, I tipped her 28$. Wasnt her fault that the kitchen messed up. I watched her write down every modification & substitution. The kitchen staff was a mess, we were seated right next to it. There were 2 people that looked like managers, helping expedite the food, they could have caught the mistakes before handing it off to a food runner. The chef & line cooks could have made the order correctly to begin with. Or who knows, maybe Ashleigh didn't enter in the modifications. Either way, it was chaotic looking in there. Walking into the busy restaurant appears chaotic and poorly planned. The darkened wood, while attractive, doesn't lend to the expansive space. The podium was over crowded and the hosted appeared overwhelmed. The place could use a detailed cleaning. The walls at the booth we sat in were dirty with food splatters. Had no expectations going in. I knew NoRa Cupcake displayed their confectionery wares here so I knew the place would be good. Bacon & Egg Burger, easily a Top 5 burger I've ever had at a restaurant. No lie. Totally blew be away. Wife had the Street Taco Trio which was killer as well. Big tacos, tasty black beans on the side and yellow rice cooked perfectly. My 3yo had the kids macaroni and cheese which was served in a gigantic dish. Huge portion and damn good! They also have plenty of options containing locally sourced ingredients from around the state. Extensive bar menu too despite the fact that we didn't take advantage. We had been out since 945am with the 3yo and 8mo and were expecting a meltdown from one or both. Dined here with some friends while visiting. This seems to be a normal chain restaurant with a HUGE menu, quite overwhelming if you ask me. You get free breadsticks when you are seated, free and tasty works for me. They have some good lunch combos. French onion soup is delicious not too salty. From salads to burgers to milkshakes and s'mores, Maggie McFly's has everything. You'll undoubtedly find something you'll like here!! All of the food is homegrown in Connecticut, from the meats for main dishes and the cupcakes and ice cream for dessert. My family and I got a Chinese chicken salad, sweet potato fries, and a pretzel burger. Everything was delicious and fresh. The Chinese chicken salad had so much good stuff packed in, it was fun to eat and enjoy. The staff is friendly; our server wasn't very attentive but pleasant. The location of this Maggie McFly's is perfect--conveniently right on the outskirts of the Buckland Hills Mall. Gave this place another chance after some repeated mess ups. Best way to describe it is "Overpriced and not worth it." Ordered a to go order totaling $45 for potato skins, fajitas and chicken. Good thing I checked the order when picking up. They forgot one of the sides. Ordered everything well done, things were not well done. White rice tasted like salt. Chicken and spinach tasted like nothing but salt and garlic. Hardly any toppings for fajitas. Barely any bacon on 11 dollar potato skins. I mean really. I had about 40 people travelling from all over the globe coming in to the Hartford area for a training and the original plans we had for a group outing fell through. I called about 5 days before my group was to arrive and dealt with Adrian and Chase, two managers who went above and beyond to help work with our corporate limitations. The day of the event, we had a private area to ourselves and Chase was on hand to make sure we had a wonderful time. It's difficult, when a restaurant is asked to accommodate separate checks for every individual, but Chase and our server, Hillary, made the absolute best of it. Although we had only requested a social hour, people did order food and again, we were accommodated. Every single person who was in attendance not only enjoyed the food, they enjoyed the wide variety of the menu. If you have a variety of dietary restrictions, this is most DEFINITELY the place you want to bring people to. They have almost anything and everything! I want to give a shout out to Adrian, Chase, and Hillary for all the wonderful help they provided to make our experience wonderful cap to a long week! read more

After being contacted by the manager, I am giving another review based upon today's lunch visit with my daughter. My previous review rated Maggie's at 3 stars. My daughter and I stopped in today for an early lunch, just as they opened. We were seated in the small dining area straight ahead located behind the hostess station. Beautiful, airy and bright (even if it was raining)... Service wise: Our waitress Ashlyn was pleasant and did everything correctly: gave us time to look at the menu, honored the special request of extra dressing on the side, asked how our meals were and offered to bring boxes for our leftovers. In fact, something I have realized about this place: ALL of the servers are present in their job, friendly and warm. What would put this place over the top though is just fine tuning the service a bit. Yes they all do their job however, going the extra mile whether it is holding open a door or complimenting a guest or offering to bring refills before someone asks...that's what will set Maggie servers apart from other chains. You guys are 80% there. Food: Our bread was delish. I didnt receive it last time so I didn't even know Maggie's served it until today. Fresh and warm, I could have made a meal of it. My daughter's chicken nuggets were more like popcorn chicken but she ate them regardless. The fries were hot and crispy. The only bummer (and certainly not the fault of anyone at direct management level): Her food was $6. Kid's meals don't include drinks. And so for her lemonade, an additional $2 was added. $8 for a kid's meal is a little steep, considering mine was $11 for an entire sandwich and a side salad. I went for the Reuben this time. SO GOOD. This sandwich does not disappoint. It was fabulous. Hot and stuffed and gooey and just a huge comfort food on a rainy day. Loved it. Again, the salad was killer. This Caesar side salad I got just blows me away every time. It is all mixed, every piece of lettuce has dressing, the fresh cheese and croutons - I just think it is divine. They are on to something with the salad. Maggie's will continue to be on my rotation of favorite places. I really have grown to love it here. Dependable, solid food and drink and quick at lunch too. Our visit (my first) was just what we needed! A bit of fun, delicious food and incredibly friendly wait staff! Our apartment burned down on thanksgiving and we haven't really been much in the Christmas spirit as a result of it but our trip to Maggie McFly's I really feel kickstarted it for us! I'm not sure if it was the balloon that kept attacking the hostess or if it was the quirky Xmas music that was mixed in with some truly great jams that were playing overhead or if it was the amazingly made "impossible" mac & cheese burger or possibly what I have to the perfect say was a perfect Bloody Mary! Whatever it was has my spirits lifted and my heart (and tummy) full! Thank you for a great time! We will be back for a Update: holy wow! If I weren't already sold on Maggie's (which I totally was!) I owe Maggie's another review since I have visited at least 1/2 dozen times since my initial visit in December. Look, this isn't a white linen dining experience. However, they know what they are good at and I think they do it very well. The menu is expansive and can be quite daunting, but I have focused in on some items that I quite like and they never disappoint. The Maggie Club is my "go to" sandwich. The ingredients are fresh and the bread is hearty. I always end up taking 1/2 of the sandwich home. This spot is just plain huge. They have a huge open dining room with another side room towards the front of the restaurant. The bar seating area is massive....I believe they have close to 40 comfy chairs. I also like that they have added the standing bar area at the back of the bar. A great place to grab a quick drink while you wait for your seats. I have only sat at the bar....heck that's where I normally end up. The service has always been great! The have a nice selection of bar bites during Happy Hour and their beer selection is solid. They seem to do a very good job of changing up their selection. It will be interesting to see what they do as we approach Spring / Summer. The Bourbon selection is also "top notch" so bonus points there. I will stand by what I said before. Maggie's is a great addition to Manchester. read more

Been coming here since they opened and can't praise them enough. The atmosphere is great, its a place we know we can come to and have a great meal with no screaming kids. The wait staff and management is always pleasant and friendly. When it comes to the food, its always spot on. Flavorful, piping hot and so good. There are many options so we never get board. The thing I like best is that they are flexible when it comes to the food, customizing it to make you happy. NORA cupcakes are delicious. I ordered the family style bang bang chicken and shrimp a few months back for pickup and it was so delicious! Since then this is our go to family favorite meal. My 2 year old loves it. It's got a light spice but doesn't seem to phase the kids. We've ordered it 4 more times since for delivery and it has been just as great every time. I would give 5 stars but of the total 5 times getting it we have not once gotten the 6 breadsticks it claims the meal comes with in the description. Which always breaks the bread loving kiddos hearts. I also don't feel like the portions would fill up 4 people. There are 4 of us; 2 adults, a 5 year old, and 2 year old and everyone's still a little hungry after. So if you have older kids maybe order some appetizers too. But even with that I would still recommend it and will continue to order the family style bang bang chicken and shrimp meal! It is delicious! read more

Tonight was my second visit to this location, both times for dessert. We sat at the bar both times. We had a lot of fun with our bartender tonight- he had a great sense of humor and put up with our crazy trio of girls, which is always appreciated. Tonight I ordered a Malbec, which arrived as a generous glass and was a solid choice, and the Banana Caramel Cheesecake Xango. Wow. It was described as banana slices, cheesecake and caramel inside of fried pastry and served with Praline's Vanilla ice cream, so I was essentially expecting a slice of cheesecake inside of a pastry crust with a scoop of ice cream on the side...but it was much, much more than that. This may have been the first time I didn't manage to eat all of my dessert at a restaurant. It was really good, although a little tough to eat with a spoon- it was cheesecake covered with fried pastry, bananas, caramel, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream all served in this huge goblet. The pastry was sometimes tough to cut through, but it was delicious! They have a pretty extensive dessert menu- it's a two page sheet (although their menu is huge in the first place!) and they feature NoRa's Cupcakes out of Middletown as well as some other local options (both of my friends ordered the Lyman Orchards Apple Crisp). Last time I ordered the Bananas Royale, which was essentially a banana split (again, if I recall correctly, served in a huge goblet), and that was really good too. I went to the Glastonbury location for happy hour one night, and would love to come back and try some dinner. What I can say for sure is that the dessert does not disappoint! read more

Huge menu selection!! It's literally a 3 or 4 inch thick book of various types of food! Great wine and alcohol selection as well! The location is prime because it's at the Buckland mall and the restaurant is huge inside! Has a more modern, up scale feel. I personally love this restaurant because it tries to use more local, quality food instead of food that is shipped half way across the country. The portion sizes are quite large. So If you know you can't finish an entree, I recommend splitting it with someone. Be advised if you do take this route, they charge $4.75 if you choose to slip a meal. Against my cousin's warning, I decided to try Maggie McFly last night (7/25/15). The meal started off with a great appetizer, but then our entrees came and it was less than stellar. I ordered a 12oz Prime Rib. The size was impressive and had decent flavor, except it was already cold by the time it was put in front of me. Not only that, the dish comes with one side. I opted for mashed potatoes, but they forgot it, and by the time I did get it, I had already eaten half of the prime rib. The mashed potatoes also came out cold. Unfortunately, my entree wasn't the only disappointment of the evening. My mom ordered the Shrimp Scampi, likewise she felt the flavor was decent, but the pasta was over cooked and clumped together (as if it had been strained and left to sit for hours until they grabbed a clump and reheated it with sauce). My uncle ordered Shrimp and Scallops alla Vodka. There were good sized shrimps; however, very little scallops. Upon further observation, he realized it wasn't just that there was a little amount of scallops, it was also that as the chef mixed the dish together, the scallops were further broken down into tiny-tiny pieces. The last entree was a Pan Seared Salmon, and the only one of our 4 dishes that didn't have a complaint. My final thoughts: Maggie McFly chefs need to step up their game. It's a disappointment when you're paying $18.99+ for a dish and its not made properly or served (at the very least) warm. 3 stars taken away for 3 poor dishes. 2 stars for our server keeping up with drink refills and the outdoor seating was nice. read more

Maggie McFlys at the Buckland hills mall was my wife and I second stop of the day for drinks and apps while we holiday shopped. We sat at the bar at this large restaurant and bar . It seemed pretty busy with holiday lunches/ parties. As we sat the bar staff was very inattentive to us. The bar was not very busy, and they both prob walked by us 4 times each . Kind of frustrating as I almost had to say something to get his attention. Next the bar was still dirty from previous guests and we were handed wet sticky menus. We ended up ordering there fresh fried mozzarella. It was well done and served with a chunky marina sauce. You could tell that it fresh mozzarella not a frozen piece. I ordered the beer sampler for $14 which you can get 28oz of any of their draft beer. I ended up trying a Sam winter, Sierra Nevada, otter creek and a ten penny. It comes out on a board that they use chalk to write the names on. Next a grab an order of hot buffalo wings off the bar bites menu for $4.99. It came out wit 6 crispy wings. Great value. We ended talking to the guy next to use and the 2 next to him as they all came in to try a new Goose island beer that just came out. I guess they all got emails from Maggie's about the new beer coming out that day. For the food and drink I would like to give 4 stars but the bar staff was not good so there for it's only a 3. The place reminds me of Cheesecake Factory. The have a HUGE menu and it's almost overwhelming to decide what you want to eat. This would be good if you have a group of people who have different dietary preferences. I had the Paella is was tasty however I felt it could use a little bit more seasoning. Hands down, the worst food and worst service I've endured in many years. After ordering drinks, it took 30 minutes to bring them. After ordering main dishes, it took 50 minutes to bring out the meals. And, no, it wasn't busy there. They didn't have the ingredients for one of the drinks, so rather than ask what my guest wanted, instead, the server just brought something else that was not even comparable. When my dinner was brought, both the entree and the side were cold. The server brought back the entree, but ignored the side dish. When the main dish was brought back, the meat was now rock hard and already cooked back down. When the side (French fries) was finally taken and brought back allegedly fresh out of the fryer, they were already cool. None of the accompanying sauces were provided with their respective dishes. Another person's side dish was incorrect. And then in case this wasn't enough to spoil the evening, the taste of the food was bland. Add that the space design amplifies room sounds into a blurred cacophony that makes it difficult to have a conversation with the person sitting next to you, and you can see why I won't be returning to this poor excuse for a restaurant. read more

The food is good not the best thing in the world but it's not selling point for this place, the selling point is all encompassing menu they have. Logically some things will be better tasting than otters. My wife had the jambalaya she said it was very flavorful and spice as well as great portions. Great service. Great atmosphere. Food is terrible. I ordered a Cuban sandwich which was not even close to being even a remote interpretation of the real deal. My wife ordered a Reuben "well toasted". It came soggy. Really? We never send food back but we sent this back. Got it re-toasted but at that point it was just a mess. In addition, the sweet potato fries were the worst we ever had. Mom and I arrived on Saturday at 11AM when they open. We were promptly seated and ordered the deviled eggs which were good. In the meantime I went to the restroom and our waitress walked into a stall. There was no flushing so she may have been doing a clothing adjustment but then she walked out and never washed her hands. Uh, I don't care what you do in the stall, once you touch the stall door/knob to leave you are contaminated and should wash you hands. Luckily when they deliver the plates they are holding a napkin on the edge. We received our meals at 11:45, Mom had meatballs and penne. I tasted a meatball and it was inedible, incredibly bitter like too much parm. or something. I got the French dip sandwich. The meat was tough and gray, the hallmarks of microwaving. I unhappily ate one half and left the rest. No, we don't want anything wrapped to go. Will not go back there, maybe back to Glastonbury were the meals were good. read more
