Wow. Searched online for best burger and Maggie's popped up. So we have it a try. Was not disappointed! I got the Bacon Cheeseburger. The burger came quick and was cooked exactly as requested. The bacon was super thick and delicious and in my opinion made the burger. And the fries we're the icing on top. The seasoning on these was amazing and they had a perfect texture. We will definitely be stopping at Maggie's on our next trip to Ouray. read more

We've been here many times over the last several years. It's a fun, laid back place. Almost a dive bar vibe, but still so different. It's just not lit very well and there is coloring everywhere. You order at the counter and everyone is usually pretty friendly. I've tried the Serrano burger, green chile burger, mushroom swiss burger, portobello burger, BLT, and grilled ham and cheese. I'm not a huge fan of their coleslaw but plenty of people love it. Usually the burgers are ok and everything tastes pretty good. I don't think the burger patties are amazing so that's I always get one with toppings. Prices are good...well....compared to some other places in Ouray. A burger and fries may set you back $9-10 with fries or coleslaw. Advice - do not wear light colored shorts and sit in a booth that has been newly drawn on. Twice now, the crayon/marker that was on the seat happened to rub off onto clothing. Only other thing worth mentioning is the bathrooms. They aren't great. If restrooms were more frequently found on this street I'd rather not use these ones at all. They aren't lit we'll, the door lock seems sketchy, and it just seems dirty. This may have been remedied since the last time I went but who knows. read more

It was decent.. however I didn't like how the toppings were all the way across from where you order on the opposite side of the restaurant, seemed like they were at greater risk of being contaminated over there. I would suggest putting the lettuce and onions on the side instead. Cheese was extra, didn't know that until I almost paid. Only Swiss and American available, I would have preferred pepper jack. Came with fries or coleslaw. Great fries and even better coleslaw! Wouldn't go out of my way to return but also wouldn't avoid the place, just meh.. 3.5 but rounded up because the outdoor patio is nice and props for offering vegetarian options. read more

The good first. The fellow who delivered our food was friendly and unassuming. It went downhill from there. The young woman who took our order would do well to realize that paying customers are good for business. I'm a native Coloradan, but I'm afraid I got a taste of what many out of state visitors describe as a 'better than thou' attitude found in some mountain towns. Lastly, the management's preoccupation with the Corona virus is admirable, but they might want to focus on some of the other germs and viruses that have affected civilization for centuries. Fun Atmosphere and wonderful food. The staff is funny and very attentive to their customers.

Elk burger was great! It tasted more unique than bison burger (both were cooked medium). The texture of bison was similar to beef (I always thought beef burgers were meh/all right), while elk was tougher and more stringy, but I liked this texture better. Elk also felt more filling than bison. The atmosphere was very casual and country-like, and there's a bar right next door, where you can get beer and bring it into this place (Maggie's doesn't serve beer, so you have to go next door). The bar, dang wow, felt incredibly Westernized with a heavy, musky cedar smell, old wooden furniture, and rugged/weather-beaten-looking locals; it looked and smelled very wild, very Western. Both places are good introductions for tourists to see and get a taste of the authentic Colorado lifestyle! read more

The girl taking orders was not over friendly or forthcoming with information regarding menu items. I ended up not ordering anything because she couldn't tell me what was in things or the items I was interested in, she said only came with a patty on bread. The rest of my family ordered. The counter here has that old timey feel like this is the "kind of place my grandpa ordered a burger at," sort of vibe. Handwriting all over the wall. It was fun, cheap, delicious and you can sit out on the patio and people watch in the Colorado sunshine with your delish burger in hand. P.S. we visited Ouray on two different days on this trip. Stopped in here and was confused by the setup inside- the employees were completely rude and told us to go to the back to order so we head to the back and the person at the register is coming out of the bathroom- we stood there for a couple minutes and asked if that's where we order- she gave us a blank stare and finally says yes- we order the bacon cheeseburger with fries and the grilled cheese with cole slaw. After paying we asked if we should wait inside or find a seat outside- she told us to wait if we wanted to- so we walked over by the door and waited for less than 15 seconds before another rude employee yells that we can't wait inside and they will bring it to us. So we head outside- none of the tables are cleaned- luckily we brought our own Sanitized wipes and sir down. The only saving grace of this place was the view from our seats- it is fun people watching. The food comes out- no fries with the bacon cheeseburger- they gave us coleslaw with both- the grilled cheese was decent- the bacon cheeseburger was overcooked and the bacon was inedible but the real kicker was the baggie of toppings they gave us for the bacon cheeseburger - this baggie had diced onions, pickles and tomatoes- not sure what else- all marinating together in a baggie I'm thinking was put together a couple days prior considering the tomatoes were nearly mush at that time. The price for the rude service and bad food was ridiculous- 2 stars for the location but nothing else. read more

Man, I have been craving their burgers since our last visit a year ago...I'm pretty sure we ate there every day when we were in town visiting with family. My daughter loves to write on the walls, they hung my sister's artwork there. You have to grab your table quickly because it's always been so busy when we went, one person holds down the spot while the other goes to the counter to order. The green chile is very good and spicy!
