I really want to rate this a 3.5 but will have to try it one more time and order something different from the menu. This time I got two orders of spam musubi (4 pieces) and a side of macaroni salad for lunch to-go. The spam musubi was pretty good - but lacked any sauce that is usually between the rice and the spam. So a bit dry. They also put a copious amount of rice in contrast to the thickness of the spam. So 4 pieces was a lot to consume, mainly due to the amount of rice filler. But it did get the job done. I was full 2.5 pieces in. The macaroni salad was decent. Just your average mac salad. No frills. I had read in other reviews that theirs came a bit watered down. I didn't seem to have this problem. All in all, it was a good meal. The owner is an asshole. I would give this place no stars. The food was okay only because the owner pissed us off. We order over $50 worth of food and asked for 2 extra fork.. two! One thing I do know though, is that Leo's always do me right and serve me tasty Hawaiian food quickly and with great quality at a reasonable price! I'm not picky with my food, but I love good musubis. I always order their BBQ chicken and BBQ beef musubis and dip it in their katsu and teriyaki sauce. Their meat is always juicy and tender, yum! My boyfriend always gets their combo dishes, and what I like best about it is thwir macaroni salad. I've had done really greasy ones and I really appreciate that this restaurant doesn't overdo it. And yet it tastes great! I love their veggies on the bottom of the meat. Not too greasy but soaks up the flavor from the meat. Okay so ive read the not so great reviews about this place. My experience is a little different. I have only eaten the bbq chicken special for $6 and change which comes with a drink. It is a great portion and tasty. I add a scoop of macaroni which is not the greatest, but good. I also add a small 2 piece order of the rangoons. The price for everything comes out to $9.51 including tax. Which is not bad considering Carls JR. Burger meal is over $10. I didn't give it 5 stars because the trashcans are always filled to the top which makes it difficult to throw my food away. They always seem short staffed. Otherwise the place seems clean. read more

Coming here for lunch is not too shabby. 1. Prices are affordable. 2. Portions are perfect for lunch; not too little and not too much. 3. Food comes out semi-quick. 4. Good place to just come eat and out. Throughout the many times of coming here during lunch time have all been good. The girl at the counter greets me with a smile and gives customers a sense of friendliness. I ordered their special combo of $5.49 in which you have the choice of meats to choose from: chicken Katsu, BBQ chicken, beef. The combo comes with rice, and some veggies underneath the meat. You also get a small drink that is refillable. This place needs more credit than what these people below don't give. Let's be clear about some issues about this place before I get down into the foods and stuff. ~Don't expect your food to be ready in 2 minutes or less like Mc Donalds. It takes time to cook real food for God's sake. ~To the person who said the place is racist: *rolls eyes* ~For those that think the service is wack, well you're wack. Of all the times I've been there, the most workers I've seen were 2 at the counter (usually one though) and 2 in the back. They are fast in orders, thorough in cleaning, what else do you want from them at a fast food place? Anyway, let's get down to the main point, the food: I always get the usual, their chicken katsu. IMO they give a TON of meat but not as much rice for the price which is good. It's good, just as good as L&L's. They're pretty much the same thing just owned by different people. Their macaroni salad is actually really good. They have mostly Pepsi drinks with the exception of Dr. Pepper which makes me come back all the time. I don't really order anything else other than chicken katsu but friends have gotten their fried rice with shrimp and the BBQ beef and said it was good. Their specialty sauce that comes with the chicken katsu tastes weird. It's not a bad weird or a good weird, just weird and it is NOT watery. Though, I like L&L's sauce more than this place. Service/Aesthetics: The service is quite fast. As stated before, their workers get orders fast and the food is ready within 10 minutes max. The place is well kept and clean and it never really is packed, ever. It's a nice family place to go to. The only issue for me is that their workers never seem happy. Price: Price is fairly cheap. You get a lot for what you pay which is good. It's cheaper than L&L's by about a dollar or so. Never order the mini meals, always go for the regular, you're just wasting your money and you won't be happy with what you get. They have lunch specials and family special. Nothing too amazing but it can save you some money. Oh btw, they actually HAVE a small cup. I give them minus points on that because they charge you the same amount as a medium drink and the small isn't even listed on the menu and they don't even tell you(I usually order a small drink at any fast food place and it tends to be a 16 oz cup except this place). All in all, I seriously give this place a 4/5. There really is any major cons about this place. It's mostly good in every aspect with a few mediocre things. This is the nearest place to my work when i'm in the mood for some Chicken Katsu or Galbi (BBQ Short Ribs). The place is outdated and I don't really get the Hawaiian feel that associates with its name. I mean there's a wall to the right when you walk in where they have some tiki figures hanging, and what possibly looks like 'your view' of the ocean. But it just doesn't scream Hawaii. If not for the tiki there, I really would be confused. Oh, and the layout makes me feel like i'm in a cafeteria or something. Well, at least the place is clean. The food is OK. It could stand to use some flavor. I got my sister a side of macaroni salad and she said it tastes different than other places she's been to. Really didn't have the flavor. For my Chicken Katsu, the breading was good and the chicken was crispy, however again, there was no flavor for me. Like it needed some salt and pepper at the very least. The katsu sauce didn't help much either, it was too watery. My vegetables on the other hand were good. I believe they maybe had just boiled it in water to cook it? The price is mediocre.. 'Value Deal' that includes a drink for $5.59. You do have a couple other options other than Chicken Katsu for the main item; Island White Fish, BBQ Beef and BBQ Chicken. The wait for me is always a bit long. I believe I waited for at least 10 minute if not for a few more. I mean I have a 1/2 hour lunch so I really have to get going after getting this to go. So, I come to this place when i'm feeling like some 'Hawaiian BBQ' mix or something close to it. On 10/24 we decided to eat here out of all the food places in the center, bad choice. We ordered two chicken katsu mini plates and a teriyaki plate. One of the chicken katsu plates had chicken that was raw, the other chicken katsu plate had half the chicken raw. We asked for both to be cooked more since they were still raw, when handed the chicken back to us the front lady told us "it's a little burnt isn't it" and yes it was burnt and hard. She realized that and did not offer for another to be made since it seemed like it was time for her to leave (maybe her shift was done). At this time we were already half way through our lunch so we only ate the rice and macaroni that comes with the plates. The macaroni was very watered down and unpleasant to eat. The rice, well it was just rice, I would've been in actual shock if they messed the rice up as well. The teriyaki sauce watered down. The katsu sauce was watered down. In conclusion the best thing on all three plates was the ball of rice they give. I would not return to eat here even if they paid me, what a waste of money. read more

Yummy, yummy, YUMMY!! I looove coming here for lunch! I always get the mini BBQ beef. It comes with rice, veggies (cabbage), and a scoop of macaroni salad. I substitute my rice for veggies because I don't eat rice and MM MMM my meal just looks soo beautiful and tastes DELICIOUS! I was soo happy eating my BBQ beef and veggies today!
