The previous house owners had renovated and installed new windows like 20+ years ago, but it took me detective work to find out they were Magic Windows from Canada. Four of the windows had a section sliding down and on two of them the section could crash down dangerously if you let go. We were lucky to find Jose on Yelp. He's upfront about his service call charge (total came to $175 since we didn't have screens), and he's an expert on these windows, quickly identifying the underlying problem caused by misaligned frames, etc., and fixing it in each case. I had Magic Windows installed all throughout my house in 2005. We spent a fortune on them. The company that installed them went bankrupt and I recently needed them to come and make a repair. That's how I found out they were no longer in business. In fact, there is no longer ANYONE on the US East Coast to repair them. For the past 3 years I have been in touch with Magic Window in Ontario Canada and they refuse to send a technician to my home to repair this one window that needs rollers replaced. They now tell me they can send me parts but wont make repairs. I have paperwork that says otherwise. I live 3 hours north of Ontario. This should not be a problem for them to send a technician. It's their windows. It's their guarantee. I would NOT suggest installing these windows until they have a representative in the US on the East Coast. Radica and Stephanie, from the Service Department in Ontario have been useless. I LOVE my windows. I don't love having one that is broken and can no longer open. I don't like that they aren't honoring their 40 year guarantee. read more

This company charges an extreme amount of money. I have a bathroom screen that's only about 8 in tall They wanted to charge 175 for a service call and $75 for the screen and I have a lifetime warranty. I would definitely not suggest using this company due to the extreme highway robbery prices they charge. They only get one star for me. I hope I'm never in need for another screen replacement. read more

K, I've talked with Jose like a year ago. Meant to send him a screen. But naturally didn't get my fat butt in gear. So today I remembered, called him. He came over in 30 mins. Crazy. He was over in Carson. Repaired two screens and two latches for me. Would have taken me another year to get to it. Glad I called, surprised at the response time. Like most say, not cheap. But dayum, he got em done. 30 mins total. I won't wait next time to call him. read more

Jose came on time and replaced 8 screens in one hour. $125 service call charge, including the trip to come to Irvine plus $75 for each screen, is not cheap, but it is worth asking him to do. He pointed out that the north side of the screens did not need to change as they got less UV light and were still usable, which saved me money this time. We can spend cooler summer with fresh air now. Jose is a great guy with a lot of knowledge. Thank you! read more

Jose was extremely helpful. He responded quickly to my email and let me know he was available on Fridays for walk in screen repairs. I've had my Magic Windows for over 15 years and absolutely love them. When a small rip occurred I thought it would be difficult to get it repaired. It was super easy, though! I just drove down to the Magic Windows location in Los Alamitos and Jose made the repair in 5 minutes while I waited. He was friendly and knowledgeable. I couldn't be happier! read more

Magic Windows made in Canada have continued to look great after 15 years. The lifetime warranty has been honored, and customer support has been exceptional! Over the years they have sent us screen clips that will eventually break, replaced a couple windows that began to fade with the loss of the argon gas, and has replaced screens and handles as requested. Jose, the local CA Rep. / repair guy is FANTASTIC. All windows were recently re-weatherstripped and adjusted. Jose is a Rockstar. Very happy customer. read more

We have a couple of Magic Windows, and two Magic Window patio doors on the house. Our patio door screen was damaged a long time ago by dogs, and it took some research to learn that service is available. The screen repair has to be done by their rep/repairman, Jose, as the parts and materials are from Canada. I called (310 area code) and got the factory in Canada. They said they would have Jose call me, and he did as couple of days later. Jose called and we set a 2-hour appointment time. I was already aware that there is a $125. service call charge. When he arrived (on time), he told me the patio screens would cost $75. each. I had him re-screen both doors. I am pleased with the work and service. I do not think the charges were unreasonable. Now we have new screens, and we are happy campers! We asre having a number of things done to the house and it takes time and money to come out for a service call - especially with Southern California traffic! read more

Our Magic Windows continue to look and work great for 20 years. Jose at Magic Windows in Los Alamitos is very helpful - customer service is excellent. They honor the warranty when we needed screen clips. An animal damaged a screen and I was able to get the screen cartridge from Jose and pop it in, saving him a drive. People are still impressed when they see the quality and features of the windows. They have made our house quieter and are well insulated. read more

This review is for Magic Windows not this installer, our installer is no longer in business. We installed all new Magic Windows in our home a little over 10 years ago at the time they did not do sliding doors so those are Mil-guard. While still under warranty I called the manufacturer for a local rep. My windows look as if the low-e film is separating between the glass they have small bubble like spots in the glass on each pane. They wanted $125.00 just to come out plus they advised me that because I had the grids in them they most likely would not be covered. I was so irritated after spending thousand of dollars to have them look so bad after less then 10 years. I cancelled the service call. At the same time one of my 8' sliders was getting moisture in between the glass. I called Mil-guard. No problem, they sent someone out in one week. He showed up with the replacement door. Changed it out in 30 minutes. They had all of my information on their computer so it was easy for them to have what was needed. Haven't had any other problems since. Amazing service. At the time of purchace Magic Windows offered more options for the windows such as retractable screens and the turn in windows, which I thought was wonderful. HOWEVER the way they look now I wish I would have gone with Mil-guard for everything! I will replace them eventually most likely with Mil-guard! Your choice! I wish I would have had this information before I made my purchase! 3/23/ 2016- Since I wrote this I had a seal break in my other 8'slider. Mil-guard came out again and immediately replaced both panels of glass in that slider also. Turns out, The reason my Magic windows only had a five year warranty is because they have grids between the glass. We made the mistake of listening to the salesperson about the great lifetime warranty instead of doing more research ourselves. BUT...We have two 8' sliders (with Grids) made by Mil-guard. Mil-guard will stand by their product WITH GRIDS over ten years later unlike Magic Window. We take very good care of our home. We are a corner lot and have a lot of people ask us for refferals about work done on our home. In our immediate block there is five of our neighbors now with Mil-guard Windows. I have Magic Windows in my home and have had them for at least 15 years. All my windows are still in good shape and work properly. A couple of pieces on the windows have been replaced but were covered under warranty. All my screens function perfectly. The carson office is great on sending those out. Quality product! read more

I have had Magic Windows with retractable screens for about 20 years and they are great. I can pull out the screen to keep the bugs out when the windows are opened, otherwise the screen is hidden away and I can see through the crystal clear windows. ... Until the springs in one of the windows snapped and the screens wouldn't retract anymore. I contacted the corporate office (in Canada) and they said no problem, they stand by their warranty. Jose from the local Los Alamitos service office came out, arrived on time, and quickly fixed the problem and the screens are now retracting again. Yay! I did have to pay $125 for the service call because the labor warranty is only 10 years, but I am happy that he had the right parts and tools and I am pleased with the results. read more

Every once in a while my faith in repair techs and contractors is restored, and today was one of those days. Jose from Magic windows came out to do some repairs on the windows we've had for more than 10 years; retractable screens damaged by someone else, for example. Jose was very professional, friendly, on time (actually a little early :) ) and went the extra mile to insure that all of the repairs were working great. Today I went over to Magic Windows that is located on Central Ave. right of the 91fwy and got my retractable screen rod fixed. The man that put the window screen quickly and most important correct. I got home and put the rod back on the window frame and I was very happy. The service was quick and great. I definitely recommend this place to get your "Magic Windows" fixed...:) read more
