The service was GREAT. The server and hostess were very attentive and were genuinely excited that this was our first visit. The food came fast and my mom enjoyed her skillet which was recommended. It was ok. The cheesy potato soup tasted like the boxed scalloped potatoes. Found two chunks of potatoes in the soup. The lemon rice soup was extremely bland. Tasted very sour. It was just sourness and rice. The bread that came out with it was very dry. I ordered the fried chicken blt. Was good but way too much lettuce. Just need a leaf. Not bunched up leaves. Asked for the fries well done and they were not. The Dijon aioli was very tart and I'd recommend not getting it or having it on the side. The meat on the French dip was very dry. The fries that came with were also cold and not well done. Pretty sure they initially burned my chicken Bc the place filled w smoke and we were waiting awhile for our food. And then they forgot the cheese on the French dip so had to take it back. They also charge for ranch and honey mustard which is annoying. I mean come on. The ranch is sour and and the honey mustard was good but I wouldn't pay extra for it. Also the staff just sits at the bar and talks which makes it seem not professional. They have the back closed so they should go sit and talk back there instead of having 6-7 sitting and standing around. The really tall bus boy was steadily working so props to him. read more

We love this local spot. It's become our favorite breakfast place since moving to CP a few years ago. The skillets are great! My 5 year old loves it so much she wanted to go there for her birthday breakfast. When the staff saw her birthday headband they got a cupcake for her and all came over singing happy birthday. 6 months later when we were back many of them remembered her from her birthday breakfast! Recently relocating to the area we are experiencing all the local establishments and avoiding the run-of-the-mill franchise establishments. We ventured into here for a late dinner, we were treated nicely and seated rather quickly. Looking around the restaurant you can certainly conclude that there is a need for some TLC especially in the cleaning department. One look at the floor and you can sum up the amount of attention that this place needs. Now that's not to say that I judge every single one of my experiences by the condition of the floor, however this one certainly does stand out. It appears that the nightlife bar scene adjacent to the building have a joint relationship. I was certainly glad that the door between the two buildings remained closed due to the elevated noise level. It appeared that the cash register area in the restaurant was the command post and discussion every scuttlebutt for issues that were being dealt with next-door. It was blatantly obvious that there was some sort of issue they were dealing with as the discussions on how to handle the issue were being had. Overall experience was decent, the food tasted good and prepared well. After reading the additional reviews many indicated that the breakfast was amazing. At some point I will have to come back and experience this for myself. With the opening at 1 AM being an option, I don't think time will be an issue read more

Great service. Clean and quaint. Great for breakfast. I really like the country fried steak and eggs. Mainly this place is an ordinary Greek/American restaurant. But the owner's son has done some creative things like offering duck bacon and a chorizo benedict, which I really like. Go early when the old guys are talking politics and surreptitiously listen in. Let me set the scene. It's a Saturday morning, I'm a bit hungover, grumpy and hungry. My Grump-O-Meter is almost at tilt. I was being a good husband and warning my wife that I'm getting close to that point of no return. In other words, I'm about become be a cranky, old bastard. She's seen it before, it's not pretty. The only thing that can save me from turning into the Demon husband is food. Here's where that Main Street cafe saved the day. I really can't describe the decor of this place. By the time I walked in, I could have cared less. I was totally focused on the smells emanating from the Kitchen. The aroma of Coffee, Eggs, Bacon and Sausage had me in a trance. After the first sip of Coffee, I started to feel human again. When my meat lovers skillet arrived I was like a kid at Christmas. The combination of meat, eggs, taters and grease were just what the Doctor (Dr. Kevorkian) ordered. I have made no secret of my disdain for the State of Indiana, but I have to admit, Crown Point is a cool little Town and the Main Street Cafe was the start of a fun day. I was really disappointed. So cute from the outside and it's a Greek diner in the region...it has to be good...right? The lemon rice soup was good but nothing else seemed fresh. The food was just thrown on the plates. I had the Reuben and it was way more bread than meat. Nothing seemed homemade. They were out of several things on the menu and I heard the waitress tell the table behind us the rice pilaf had "gone bad" and couldn't be served. Yuck. The restaurant itself had a layer of grime and just wasn't clean at all. On the plus side the wait staff was great. Those girls were so sweet, very attentive and running like crazy. read more

I can't believe people actually eat here...Yeah it's cheap, but that's about all it has going for it. I often wish I could take over that place, give it a facelift and a really good menu. Good breakfast is probably the easiest thing to make, but at Main Street they are super lazy in the kitchen (and dining room for that matter) and use poor quality ingredients. Any place that serves breakfast all day -- good breakfast, that is -- gets five stars in my book. I had a delicious broccoli cheese omelet (they also had spinach-feta, but omelets were among their only veggie options), hash browns, toast and unlimited coffee refills. I could barely take a sip without one of two servers coming to refill it for me, and this was right at noon on a weekday. However, I came here, laptop in hand, on the advice of a fellow yelper, but it turns out they only get WiFi about half the time. Not sure what's up with that. My brethren and I were on a quest. A late night quest in which only our deepest, most innate desires could be satisfied. Being locals, Main St. has been a staple in our lives since we were but small, defenseless children who had no moral grounding or true understanding of what it means to enjoy a meal. We sauntered into this late-night beacon of hope- a well lit, close knit, and very sensual dining experience. Of course, I ordered the country skillet to sate my raging hunger, and my faithful partner in this quest ordered a cheeseburger. We left feeling...triumphant. The night was our's, but we still felt a hunger for more. Overall, it was some decent scrap, and it kept us on the path to greatness and enlightenment. 10/10 would smash again read more

This is your typical greasy spoon, they even have a counter you can sit at for some nostalgia is you like. I've only eaten breakfast there and it was great. The coffee is good, the food comes out fast and hot and the service is decent. Keep an eye out for the specials. Last time it was just a post it note stuck to the menu for cinnamon swirl french toast which was amazing. It even came with whipped cream! read more

We always love when we get Shelly she is great I'm a waitress myself so I'm picky but she is always very attentive and friendly. She has a great personality and we love her . Like a lot of the restaurants around Crown Point, Main Street is pretty old school. Unlike most of those other restaurants though, its food has stood up to the test of time. They haven't sacrificed good taste for their huge menu, which is a feat. I've never eaten anything I didn't like here, and it's an easy place to drop in and be treated kindly. Love getting carryout breakfast over the weekend. I suppose in the name of being fair I do have some complaints: the coffee sucks, those murals are hideous, and being pestered to tip at the cash register is tacky! read more

Ordered from Main Street for the first time through Door Dash delivery today. Food was incredibly fresh and delicious. ordered the Reuben Club Deluxe, which cam with a small coleslaw, fries and a lemon rice soup and roll. Soup was out of this world good, along with the roll, which tasted just baked. Fries all tasted fresh cut. Coleslaw was small, but yummy. And sandwich was big and filling. Growing up, I used to eat here when it was called The Crown Cafe. I still love going here when I'm home. Gus and Maria know how to treat customers. The food and service are always great. Nothing beats the triple decker sandwiches, fresh soups and deserts. The location is great! read more

Do not ever eat here. They advertise having a family friendly environment, but my experience was anything but that. To start off, it took our server 30 minutes to come take our order, then another 30 for our food to come out. We finally get our food and we had no silverware so we asked the server to bring some and she took 5 minutes to do that. Then, in one dish, there were egg shells in the eggs. In the other dish, there were egg shells AND hair in the eggs. All of the toast we got were burnt. We called server over and complained and she went on to blame other people working there for our troubles and it "wasn't her fault". The manager finally came over and she took 10 minutes to come. On top of EVERYTHING I went to the bathroom and it was the most disgusting bathroom I've ever been in in my life. There was toilet paper everywhere on all the handles, I was scared to touch anything. We finally paid our bill and walked out and heard workers talking bad about us saying, "did they even pay?!?" And we had to yell at them and say we sure did! Worst family experience I've ever had. We stopped there for a late lunch. I had the club sandwich, he had a patty melt. I had the deluxe, which included soup and fries. The chicken soup was delicious! So was my turkey club sandwich. Everything was fresh and the bacon was nice and crispy. Just the right amount of mayo on the sandwich. He thought the patty melt was one of the best he ever had. He normally uses Catsup, but he didn't want to ruin the taste of the perfectly cooked rare patty melt. We'll be back if we have any other business in the area. read more
