    Katsu

We love this place the Katsu and teriyaki chicken is always fresh and good. I love the Mack salad and they're always very friendly and nice. Everything is always fresh in the door whipped soft serve is fire.!!

We came here to grab their $5 bowls.. which if you ask me it's a bargain. It comes with rice and your choice of meat. Now keep in mind this place does weight the meat.. I've gone to other locations where they don't even bother weighting the meat... either way you can beat $5 lunch bowl. We also placed a catering order for a work event and they were so accommodating and the cashier girl was super friendly.

Great experience at Makai's Summerlin location! I usually go to the location on Fort Apache and I never have any complaints there. Service was fast and staff were friendly. The teriyaki beef had this smoky bbq flavor that was delicious. The chicken katsu featured large pieces of chicken (minimal breading!!) and wasn't soggy. The spicy ahi tuna tasted fresh and also had great flavor. The Mac salad was great and garlic edamame was a good side choice also. You're definitely getting your money's worth.

I went there today 3/18/26 around 4:45pm and the rice is still not so good, from now on I will just buy the meats and salads and cook my own rice. They need to find someone that can cook rice lol everything else was good, the rice was kind of rough and hard.

i love this place the staff is always so nice and welcoming and the katsu and teriyaki cheicken is bomb !!

Rocking a B grade & a slew of teenagers working up front . Personally can't get past this . Love this place usually though I had to turn around today .

Excellent! I've been twice so far and both times very good. Very clean and great staff. First time I got the chicken katsu which was very tasty with rice, salad and macaroni salad. The medium portion was huge and got a couple meals out of it. Second time I opted for the small bowl with chicken teriyaki, rice and macaroni salad. So good! Prices are good and they have dole whip!

You can tell this is family owned and run, with a lot of passion and hard work put into the place. The owner is lovely and brews a mean cup of delicious Kona coffee. They do get busy (was here on a Saturday at 11 am and it was packed) and make stuff to order, so be prepared for Island Time when you dine here. Even the musubi and coffee are made to order. My only quibble was that I paid for a custard filled malasada and since they don't give it to you right then and there if you are dining in with other dishes, they let me know later they actually had run out. But they are that good. Otherwise all the food was delicious and brought my husband and I back to our last vacation there. The live music made the time fly. I recommended this place to my friends immediately. Free and plenty parking in front.

It substituted my rice but it's actually fine cuz who needs all that carbs anyway. The chicken was battered and fried well! The kalbi had a great marinade. The saimin had good flavor. The wontons for the poke were crispy. The fish tasted fresh. Only hope was for more fish and avocado on the nachos. Overall, ono grinds! Go try..

I even noticed small drips on the wall that looked like sauce stains, so yeah...not the kind of spot you come to for ambiance. BUT. The food? Absolutely makes up for it. I saw a steady stream of DoorDash drivers coming in and out the entire time, which already told me this place is popular for a reason and after eating, I get it. The food is really good. Like, seasoned all the way through, flavorful, not dry, not bland everything just hits. The chicken was juicy and tender with that perfect grilled flavor, and the portions are generous. The rice was fluffy, the mac salad was creamy and balanced, and everything together just felt like a solid, satisfying plate. No shortcuts, no watered down flavor, just good food done right. Vegas has a LOT of Hawaiian BBQ spots, but hands down...this is one of the best, if not the best I've had out here. So yeah, don't come here expecting vibes. Come here because you want a plate that's actually worth your money.

Things were still getting together but I have faith they will get back to their normal flow. Food was tasty as always. Had the beef ribs and the kalua pig today. The Kalua pig was a very tasty version. One of the better ones I've had in town for my taste. Not too smoky, felt like it was roasted for a long time. The meat was still intact but tender. Ribs were as they always are. The only thing today, was that the boxes didn't feel as full as they normally do. Only got 4 ribs today and they weren't all that meaty. The pig dish wasn't full to the brim either. Also, prices have gone up from the menu, so seeing higher prices (totally understandable) and less food was a little disappointing. Service was friendly for the most part, but be ready for longer waits. Maybe it was because of the move, but it was a 15-20 min wait today. The ribs are still the best in town, I'm hoping the small portion was just a one off.

It took a while to get our drinks (it was around 115 degrees outside) and when we got them they were never refilled. My wife's chicken Katsu had several undercooked pieces, and when she couldn't flag David down she went to the front counter which finally got his attention. He apologized and brought out a fresh plate, but only gave us 15% off for the inconvenience. Keep in mind my wife was sharing that chicken with our toddler; they both could have gotten very sick. My wife couldn't eat after that, so we flagged David down again for to go containers, again for the check, and one final time for him to pick up the check and our card. My wife was at her limit so she went to the car but I went back inside and got the manager, who was very apologetic and comped the chicken Katsu. Frank's macaroni salad wasn't the absolute best I've had, but it was genuinely good--surprisingly better than Zippy's, a true Hawaii staple. The loco moco was excellent: the eggs were perfectly cooked, bright yellow and so delicate they looked like they'd break if you stared at them too long. You get two juicy hamburger patties and two generous scoops of rice, making it easy to stretch into two solid meals. The spam musubi was fresh and still warm (we ordered right at opening at 11 AM and picked it up by 11:30). They added a touch of teriyaki sauce between the rice and spam, which I'm usually not a fan of, but it actually worked really well here. The salty, grilled spam still shone through. The spot itself is a classic Hawaiian BBQ cafe--simple, no-frills, with a mix of sit-down tables and to-go boxes flying out the door. You could tell they had just opened but were already deep into the lunch rush. Even so, service was impressively smooth. We were quoted about 20 minutes, but I walked in, hit a short line, and was back out the door with piping-hot food in under five minutes. I'll definitely be coming back for some Hawaiian comfort food.

His cousin couldn't stop raving about the food, so we decided to check it out for dinner last night. We ordered the Crackhead Chicken and Da "OG" Beef to share, and I also got a Spam musubi I had been craving. The musubi was HUGE and really hit the spot. We also ordered a side of Crackhead Chicken without the spice for our 1 year old, and she LOVED it. Normally she throws her food, but this time she actually ate it and kept making the cutest "yummy" faces the whole time. The moment I took my first bite of chicken, my reaction said it all. The flavor was INCREDIBLE! It had a perfect balance of sweetness from the coconut and a nice kick from the spices. Everything worked so well together, and the chicken itself was unbelievably moist and juicy. I also loved that the meat was served over the rice, allowing for all the juices to soak in. The rice was soft, flavorful, and just as satisfying. The macaroni salad was hands down my favorite compared to any Hawaiian BBQ spot I've tried. I also had a few bites of the beef, which had an amazing flavor and just the right amount of char to elevate it even more. The only thing that didn't stand out to me was the coleslaw, but we found out later that you can substitute for extra macaroni salad for an additional 50 cents. We will definitely do that next time! Overall, we had a fantastic experience and will absolutely be back whenever we are in the area. One quick note for parents: there are no high chairs available, and we even searched the entire food court. Since it's inside a casino, it's understandable, but just something to keep in mind.
