My friends and I tried various sushi rolls to share at Makimono. The Philly roll was my favorite

My friends and I stopped into to Krog Food hall for dinner. I decided to order sushi rolls from Makimono. I ordered at the counter and the hostess made some great suggestions. I walked around the food hall for about 15 minutes and our rolls were ready. We sat in the food hall and enjoyed tasting the sushi rolls. The Philly was my favorite.

We came here on a Saturday evening and decided to check this place out. I like the dinning area setup but the upstairs area was closed. The service was great! Our waiter regularly checked on us and when she got busy another one would come over. The only down side was my food. The Yaki Soba wasn't bad but a little too sweet for my liking. The Udon was the same way, too sweet. Just my opinion but you have to check it out for yourself.

MAKE your own call about Makimono... located inside Krog Street Market, I believe they used to be Craft Izakaya, which I did enjoy a lot when it was a full dine in restaurant, but they shut down and reopened as a smaller scale sushi bar counter. After making a circle around the food hall, we were most curious about Makimono. They were close to closing time but luckily not super busy so we took a seat and chatted with some of the guys behind the bar. We asked for suggestions on the best two rolls so they recommended the Ellie and the Lambada, which also happened to be the two sushi rolls on the menu we were eyeing. I'm pretty particular about my sushi and I wasn't expecting much from the rolls. However, they were pretty large and tasty. The Ellie came out nice in photos - the Lambada was probably my favorite of the two, but not as photogenic. Rolls here were a-ok. Nothing special, maybe a step up from grocery store sushi? There are tons of restaurants in Atlanta to grab a mediocre sushi roll from so go ahead and add Makimono to the list if you're craving it while at Krog.

I decided to stop by the Krog Street Market to grab some food today. There are lots of great options for food but I decided to get sushi from Makimono. The panko avocado and the lion king roll were delicious! I also tried the spring rolls which were pretty standard but they were really good in the sweet chili sauce.

    W99 roll is amazing!

First time on the belt line and we stop in for some sushi. We started with the pork Gyoza, cooked perfectly. Then we had The W99 (see photo) was fanatic! Large enough to satisfy your hunger. Finished our meal with the chicken fried rice and Salad. Ginger dressing is really good. The only thing knocking it from a 5 star to a 4 was the fried rice. The chicken was over cooked and the rice had no flavor. Sushi roll are huge and a must if you come here. The menu had Plenty of other items to check out on our next visit. Service was a little slow but they were super busy. Overall great experience at Makimono

Food is great, portions are even better. The flavored margaritas are can't miss.

Food was great, portions are as well. The flavored margaritas are delicious and a great deal.

I've only been able to eat inside the restaurant twice now but their take out side is always busy. Finally tried their sushi after dropping in for gyoza or drinks and it was amazing. Super fresh, fast, and the service is always great. This time the owner was behind the bar working and you can tell a lot of thought and care has gone into the place. Great place to drop into especially to get away from the noisy Krog Street vibes. I'll definitely be back!

Welll id probably recommend anywhere else in Krog st. The food wasn't bad necessarily but it wasn't super good and it definitely did not meet up to the price. Save your time and your coins ladies and gents

My wife and I ALWAYS make sure to eat this sushi restaurant whenever we're at Krog Street Market. The atmosphere is beautiful with mood lighting and dark wood Japanese architecture. Out of all the Japanese/Korean Sushi restaurants we've visited in the Metro Atlanta Area, this is definitely the best in our opinion. Outside of the large variety of options for vegetarians and vegans with their sushi, they also have amazing soups, Sakes and Sojus! Speaking of their Sojus, make sure to try their mango Soju! It's delicious sneaky with 13 ABV per serving, so a few will have you feeling very nice! If you're looking for more of a stronger punch, you can try their original Soju (20 ABV) if you're feeling daring. We definitely recommend buying a bottle and sharing it with those (legal to drink) at your table. Make sure to tell Vicki our review sent you to her amazing restaurant.

Service was solid, and my favorite cocktail so far is the Black Lava. I will swear by (not just vouch for) the truffle salmon appetizer, and my favorite hot option is the baked lobster tempura. Gotta keep it real for a moment...bringing a large group there can be a tad more complicated, so plan accordingly. I would recommend it more for intimate occasions and gatherings. That said, there are plenty of paid lots surrounding the restaurant if you can't find street parking, so at least that part is easy! I loved my experience, and I can't wait to return.

That said, locals recommended it, and I usually love sushi as a post-flight meal since it's light and fresh. The ambiance is dreamy, and I really appreciated the attentive service and bar seating. I ordered an avocado ball with caviar and spicy tuna, which was lovely and beautifully plated. I'd also seen a foodie Instagrammer mention their off-menu crispy rice rolls, so I gave those a try. Unfortunately, they fell a bit flat for me. I ended up adding a lot of soy sauce since they sincerely lacked flavor. When the bill came, I realized this probably wasn't the best choice for a quick, light meal. The prices were comparable to California, but the quality didn't quite match. That said, the person sitting next to me mentioned she visits often and felt that the night was a bit off, so I'd be open to giving it another try next time I'm in town.

My group of 4 and I came in around 9:05pm for our reservation at 9:00pm and were told our table wasn't ready. We went to grab a drink at the bar but ended up unfortunately waiting about an hour to be completely sat (about 10:10pm). The location was VERY busy, almost difficult to walk through with the amount of people standing around waiting to get sat, but just wish it would have been a quicker turnaround time, especially with the reservation being booked. Now onto the good! Our server and server assistant Mitch were both lovely. Mitch came by frequently to take our order and check up on us. The food and drinks were INCREDIBLE! We got the some tapas, including potatoes, croquettes, empanadas, tomatoes and meatballs and everything was top tier. Quite an affordable night out if you end up sharing a bunch of dishes. The white sangria was also amazing. Very floral but in a not over powering way. We ended up choosing street parking a street down and were able to walk right to the restaurant with no issues. Would definitely love to give this place another try as it seems very promising but maybe on a less busy night.

I've been twice now and have had the chance to sit both upstairs and downstairs, and each experience has been amazing. The service? Easily a 10/10. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Mango Sticky Rice Martini and the Lychee Martini. Ruby's bartender is truly A1....they know exactly what they're doing. Both cocktails were balanced, creative, and so good. For food, we ordered the Brussels sprouts, Pow Pow Shrimp, Dan Dan Noodles, Miso Cod, and Chicken Satay. Every single dish was a 10/10...except for the Miso Cod. Unfortunately, it didn't taste as fresh as I expected and had a slightly fishier flavor than I prefer. I was definitely a little disappointed, but thankfully every other dish more than made up for it. Overall, Ruby Chow's continues to be one of my favorite Asian fusion spots in Atlanta. I ordered the salmon hand roll for $8 (happy hour special). I found the hand roll to have a LOT of rice and a little salmon. I think $4-5 is a better price point. They also had drink specials and it looks like wine specials on Wednesday's (I overheard a couple saying it--it was not offered by the bartender, which I found interesting). For Happy Hour I think their prices are excessive - with $14 for drinks and $8+ for tiny apps. I found service to be good. It took a long time for the hand roll to come out (over 25 minutes). When my friend arrived we both ordered the lobster fried rice dish. I could smell the rice was burned and it was when I tasted it. The server quickly replaced it and the new dish was fine and came out relatively quickly (much quicker than a raw hand roll). They also have valet which is $5 and I think you can park for the same cost as well. I found the restaurant to be very cute, food was good, but I wouldn't go out my way to return.

My boyfriend and I sat down at the bar last night around 6:45, four seats away from the register, and the bartender--who was standing directly in front of us--never looked up from the prep work he was doing to greet us. After several minutes I greeted him cheerily to ask if we could order. He said curtly, "You have to order at the register." Thinking he must have misunderstood something, I said, "Even if we're planning to sit at the bar and have food and drinks?" He told us again to "order at the register." He actually said, "I'm the only one here." We looked around, and it was just us and two other couples. We left, which was a major bummer because I was taking my boyfriend there on what I thought would be a fun date. We were both really excited to try the food and the drinks. Instead, we left confused about why we were treated so rudely by the employee. The whole situation made us feel kind of sad. I tip well, since I used to work in restaurants, and there is a lot of competition for people's hard-earned dollars, so why a mostly empty business would be scaring off paying customers makes no sense. P.S. We saw the bartender tell another couple they had to order at the register, but we thought maybe they were just getting food to go. They left too, instead of ordering. We later saw them sitting at the same busy restaurant we ended up going to instead. If that bartender had been even a little bit welcoming and kind to us, we would have gotten up and ordered, even though we still would have been confused about the setup. We would have stayed.
