I had dinner there last night, and there was a roach walking near my foot. I told a waiter, and he didn't say anything. I had to tell another person who worked there, and then that second guy stepped on the roach. At that point, I got up to pay. I told the cashier. She apologized and gave me a small discount. I was totally grossed out, and I wished I hadn't eaten my sandwich, which was mediocre at best. The service is slow for a diner. read more

This restaurant appears to have an ambiance of the sea as we walked through. At the entrance in front of the cash register there is a nice size aquarium with a vast variety of tropical aquatic organism for viewing. There is a beautiful mural on the wall with boats in the ocean. The lighting was great with a mixture from the sunlight. This place has notable potential for improvement in all areas. I will start with the menu which showed a limited amount of breakfast items for a restaurant. It took me a while to decide because I did not see anything that stood out. I ordered a hot tea; the water was almost lukewarm. The waitress was wearing a face mask, but it was under her nose, and she was coughing. I ask her for more hot water after she took my order and she kind of snapped at me and told me to wait. I think, if they had someone walking around to replenish hot water and coffee, I would not have asked her. I wasn't too pleased with that. I ordered a garden skillet, and my friend ordered the steak and egg skillet. Some people will say that hashbrowns are the same, but I say they are not. It is a preference for me. I don't prefer cubed hashbrowns. It is like apples; they look the same but aren't. and they taste different. The taste was mediocre and plane. I also had eggs over easy. I ordered turkey sausages, but it did not come at the same time as the food, but I dare not say anything or else. We enjoyed dining al fresco by the yacht club after hiking at Rye Conservancy. There was a perfect cool breeze by the water! Our party was well attended to by two excellent servers. Decent but not over the top special. Conveniently located near the water (Atlantic Ocean) with a dock storing privately owned boats, this diner hits the spot on a number different levels. It is clean, spacious, and conservative in its list of food options. Doesn't take long something for everyone. My rating stems from a lack of high-quality food that used to be served here. I ordered the vegetarian panini that came with roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, and other vegetables. It was grilled well and served with sweet potato fries. We did not feel rushed to exit the restaurant as a big group and did pay Scarsdale prices for a meal. Overall dependable diner with places to walk around after completing your meal. The Mamaroneck diner is just that, a diner. it is clean and the staff friendly and it is pretty much opens round the clock. The ambience is - diner, with no other attempt at ambience. the food is passable diner fair but it's when you get to the price i start to have issues. A burger with fried-by burger i mean hot sandwiches- run $14-18 for the sandwich and fries. that puts it on the level of more upscale places like Applebee's without the same atmosphere. So, there is feeling of being over charged for 'this' tends to overshadow the meal. The diner is a place to go when you realize it's late and you need food. It is not the place for a date unless she's impressed by white lyonium, but it is a place you can meet up with friends for a quick bite before or after doing something else. read more

Unfortunately you never know which waiter will take your order and do you may get stuck with a real POS that won't even bring bread or water to the table. Luck of the draw. Classic diner food in a classic diner environment. The place was quite filled by the time we arrived for brunch after 11am, so we sat at the counter and ordered a country skillet and pancakes. The country skillet was mostly potatoes and didn't seem to have much ham in it. The pancakes were fluffy and excellent. At a time when we're seeing diners experiment and update their menus, it was a novelty to find a place that seems frozen in time. We arrived as a two party. It wasn't busy. It's a nice and clean place. The host signaled to us to choose a table. He did not lead us with menus. Nothing. He was on the phone but could have signaled to wait a second because he was off 1 minute later. He brought the menus after we were seated. The next party came in after us and they got led with menus to their table. Then, the waiter took the order of the party after us before he took our order. We explained we were here first and he stated, "It's okay". We explained that it's not okay. As an establishment, you should recognize that you serve in the order in which people arrive. The food was subpar at best. There are other diners with better food in the area. This diner has been my go-to for 5+ years. My original favorites that made me come back were the Waffle Fries (add-on) and the honey mustard sauce. The food is good today. However, it is somewhat disappointing that the quality has gone down in the past couple years. While I still love dining in, parts of the floor is almost always closed, which doesn't contribute to the atmosphere positively. Service is okay. Price is also okay for a diner. Up until 5 years ago, I had dinner on Wednesday nights for about 15 years with my chiropractor friend. I was in the area last week and stopped in for lunch. I was welcomed as I entered and was seated in the first booth on the right. I sat in this booth many times in the past. I was given the menu as soon as I was seated. The waiter came over and took my drink order which was a diet cola. The buss boy brought over a glass of ice water. Being in a nostalgic mood, I ordered one of my old favorites which is chicken noodle soup and fish and chips. Still serving home made chicken soup with a couple of chunks of potato in it. We stopped here seeing the great reviews on Trip Advisor. It's just a few minutes off the highway and was exactly what we had hoped for on a long day! The turkey club was classic diner fare with a generous portion of fries and Cole slaw. The kids had pancakes and chicken tenders and fries off the children's menu and there were leftovers which is unusual for our kids! The fries are beefy! The service was quick and very welcoming. I'm a pizza snob but I'd probably give it a try next time, I saw one while we were there and it looked good. What could have been an enjoyable lunch, was more annoying than anything. The food here was decent. We ordered a chicken Panini and chicken and waffles. The Panini was basic, but good. The waffle was tasty, but I was surprised by the chicken tenders on top of it. I figured it would be a piece of fried chicken, and not nuggets, like chicken and waffles usually is. Anyway... The problem was the waitress. The second we sat down, we were given menus. I hadn't even looked at my menu and the waitress came over and asked if we knew what we wanted. We told her we needed some time. The menu is quite large, and I hadn't eaten here in over 6 years. I was looking at the different categories and she came over another minute later and asked if we were ready. At this point, we were getting annoyed. It's not like there were people waiting for seats. Nobody was waiting!!! She was clearly in a rush and wanted to take our order. I don't like feeling rushed when I'm at any restaurant including a diner. I had been here less than five minutes and had been asked twice what I wanted??? When people have their noses buried in a menu, they aren't ready! This continued on the entire meal. She couldn't wait to clear the table, bring the check, boxes etc. We felt very unwelcome, and were both annoyed. Her attitude was "get them in, get them out." First I had hot coffee and iced tea and my girlfriend said non-sweet iced tea, The waitress brought girlfriend sweetened tea from Snapple iced tea and she said oh you wanted that. So basically I got a fajita burger which is so so. So anyway the waitress left and never gave up check so I went to check out and paid my bill. Just like any local diner, you'd be sure to find at least something you like here. Admittedly it is definitely not the best food you'll have in your lifetime but it'll be sure to fill you up. I go relatively frequently and tend to try different me menu items each time. Unfortunately the soups in particular are not my favorite. Broccoli and Cheddar Soup is my #1 soup, and the diner blended it all together where you couldn't even tell there was broccoli anymore. The chicken noodle soups' chicken is also a bit tough. The waffle fries are a go-to as the side for your burger or sandwich, and they never mess up their onion rings. A classic milkshake will go nicely with your meal, though a bit expensive for just blended ice cream. Overall, if you're hungry: look no further than the Mamaroneck Diner! read more

Changed ownership about 3 years ago. We moved out of the area so we haven't been back since. Been go to this old favorite since the 60's. Met some old friends for breakfast and the place was completely empty of patrons. Red flags went up in my mind. The eggs were not only improperly cooked (I admit I'm fussy) but everything was cold. My wife had a quiche that was served blackened. She sent it back for a simple waffle. After a good amount of time we flagged down the server, asking "where is the waffle?" , his response "oh yeah!" Their food quality has just gone down and any complaint you have falls on deaf ears with the manager. We ordered at least once a week from there , not anymore since we had a very bad experience. my brother and I went there for their thanksgiving turkey dinner special for $26.00 includes salad or soup, fresh bread and apple or Punkin or blueberry pie. The turkey dinner was the worst turkey dinner I have eaten in my entire life. They served us pieces of bone grizzle two small pieces of white meat all the rest was leftover pieces of bone Dark meat! not acceptable. Would've been better going to IHOP for their turkey dinner at least we would of had slices of white meat not pieces of doc meet with bones. Been eating there for years was excellent but no more! We are frequent diners here, as their breakfasts are excellent. However, we went for a late lunch today and I ordered a gyro sandwich. When it arrived, there was very little meat, but lots of lettuce and tomatoes. I informed the manager of this and he said he'd talk to the chef and take care of it. He came back a few minutes later with a single piece of gyro meat on a plate and said "Here" and put it down on the table. Not only was this incredibly insulting, but it didn't address the problem that my sandwich was basically nothing. Of course I was charged the full amount. After a brief wait we were seated at a nice clean booth, the waiter was quick to come by to take our drink order and offer coffee.
