We really liked their ice cream (I loved that kids could get two mini scoops in the smallest size AND toppings rather than having to size up to get 2 flavors). I also really appreciated all of the toys - there was something at every price point & prices were comparable to every independent toy shop I've been in. I also thought they had a great variety of toys/games - outdoor toys, packable/backpacking friendly toys, a nice selection of art supplies, magic kits & even goofy gag/joke gifts (my kids love fake mustaches & the like). This is a must-have stop. Conveniently located in the middle of Main, there's plenty of parking and many choices of ice cream. Our party of four chose the berry sorbet and coffee ice cream and both were incredible. While we ate, we browsed the shop's many toys and games and ended up purchasing a couple of fun things. Came by here on a summer afternoon for some delicious ice cream I could say that I was definitely not disappointed. During the pandemic season it was nice to have some availability for some great ice cream and a nice little store with a couple games and toys for a family friendly environment. The ice cream were great however they were a small selection of them but the Marian ice cream gelato was nice and the Rockyroad was it nice ice cream. The area was clean and well stocked and organized, the staff was also very attentive and very nice to the customers the shop is very easy to find along the main street of Mammoth Lakes. I would definitely come back here and recommend this place to family and friends would like to enjoy some nice ice cream I do you so much anyone could enjoy. I would definitely recommend the Marion Barry ice cream for it's nice little bit of sweetness but not too sweet and a whole lot of refreshing feel. They have everything from a 13 scoop fundae to bocce ball and from hand soap (actual soap that looks like a hand) to a frisbee golf set (putter, close, medium and long range frisbees, which I honestly didn't know existed.) Even better, when you check in on Yelp you get a free candy stick... so if you don't want to spend any money but need to kill 30 minutes and satisfy your sweet tooth , here you go. Making things even easier, it's located right off the main road so your GPS will be helpful but not necessary. Final Word Definitely stop in and check it out. It's full of a bunch of stuff you don't need but are going to want for some weird reason and it's not incredibly over priced like you'd might imagine after shopping/eating anywhere else in Mammoth. read more

This store is fantastic. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of just about anything you could want to pass the time on a rainy day. The ice cream is also the best in town. They are doing an excellent job keeping things clean, safe and socially distant. (I was in there while a family was insisting on their "right" to shop without masks. Mammoth Fun Shop is one of those stores like you see in the mall kind of like Spencer's or something like that. They sell toys, games, and knickknacks (pretty much useless stuff but fun for kids) as well as ice cream. Fun fact this used to be a KFC but closed. But we never went there. My dad couldn't drag my nephew out of this store because he wanted a Nerf Gun and my dad said no. So he wanted some virtual reality glasses and my dad said no. My nephew ended up getting a mini skateboard finger toy. Luckily this place is across the street from the trolley bus stop. Also this place is at the end/beginning of the stores/restaurants and stuff. PS That ice cream would of been a treat since it was hot/warm day in August. read more

It's a tradition in our family that Mammoth Fun Shop is always one of our first stops whenever we visit Mammoth. The staff and the owner Camille are ALWAYS so kind and helpful, and I don't know how they do it, but their ice-cream is probably the best you'll ever eat. A decent souvenir store, but many of their souvenirs are over priced. Go to other shops in the area and you'll find better prices on the exact same items! I had items to purchase in hand and the attendant there (I believe she might be the owner) told me that they do not allow pets in their store. It is important to note that my dog is a service dog and had on a "service dog vest". Instead of making a scene and giving this establishment business (as I had my family with me and there were s few customers in the store) I decided just to walk out. No arguing, just left. I left the items that I was going to purchase and walked out. I actually found better prices and better items after I left, so this rude owner actually did me a favor! A non pet friendly business in a pet friendly town. Figure it out you guys or you will continue losing customers! This business needs to familiarize themselves with the American Disabilities Act (ADA) which allows service dogs in public establishments. Furthermore California law, which supersedes any "county law" "allows persons with disabilities to bring trained service dogs to all public places." This review is being edited as the owner has chosen to edit their response. The editing of this review is to provide further clarification of the incident that occurred. Please note that your original reply cited my review as a "revenge review" something that is petty and beneath me. You were basically trying to be dismissive of my experience and interaction with your staff, which is not appreciated. So that's where you went wrong in your response to me. Secondly, after editing and clarifying in my review that my animal was a "service animal" your demeanor changed. It appears as if your staff are confused as to what customer I was and are trying to cover up. My dog was vested and does have a collar with an ID tag so plesse re-review your video. I was standing near your entrance. Furthermore your staff member never inquired as to whether my animal was a service dog, just simply stated that, "sorry we don't allow animals here." It sounds as if your staff need a refresher training on ADA, because if they were educated about service animals and the law they would have seen my dogs vest and tag and if not they could have simply asked. That would have been the polite and customer service oriented thing to do. Ya think!? Subsequently my daughter was also filming herself looking at things she was going to purchase, as she's the one who convinced us to go into your store, so I have the interaction with your staff member on audio as well and can email it to you. It can be heard in the background of her video. So we can put the whole story your staff communicated to you to rest and I can also verify what happened as I was there and you were not. Please be reminded that I politely left and did not create a scene in your establishment, even though I could have. Also, I can appreciate your promotion and marketing efforts, but take a shopping tour of your own town. Your items are not that unique. And you claim that 75% are unique. Who are you trying to fool!? Maybe it's time for a revamping of your product line. Finally, the best thing for you to do is to stop going back and forth with your patrons, as that is extremely unprofessional, train your staff, and going forward makng sure that your establishment is compliant with ADA Federal law for all of your customers. read more

Although their ice cream is mediocre, they carry the weirdest odds and ends I have ever seen in a shop this small. For the most part, their 'toys' are quite novel and therefore pretty much serves as a paperweight or minute-long entertainment.
