Today I and 11 high school friends had lunch here. The service was excellent and the setting lovely as always. I had the seafood special - blackened mahi mahi with mangoes and a sweet chili sauce, accompanied by saffron rice, green beans and a tossed salad. Seafood entree was well prepared and tasty. The salad was SLIGHTLY wilted, but what tasted like a house-made ranch dressing made up for it. Price was a reasonable $25. There WERE pricier items on the lunch menu (a $46 filet), but there were also more reasonable salads and sandwiches. One sandwich that caught my eye was my friends prime rib dip - piled high and easily enough for two! Another lady had the luncheon salad with chicken, and that one looked crisp and inviting. In 2023 a close friend and I made a pact to try a new restaurant together once a month. We finished the year strong here at Mancy's. They are a Toledo staple and I can see why. The food was amazing, service was top notch, and the restaurant has that classic old school feel without feeling dated or worn out. We had a surprise birthday party here at Mancy's Saturday night. There were ten of us at our party and since we had reservations we were seated immediately. You could tell our waitress was very experienced taking our drink orders. When drinks came she then took our appetizers which came in a timely matter. Our entree orders were placed and came out timely. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the one chicken dish too. We all agreed that it was a fantastic three hours of absolute dining pleasure. The food was high quality and the atmosphere was peaceful as one would expect in a nice restaurant. Unfortunately, I wasn't wowed by any of the food. For food at this price point, I expect at least one of the dishes to be uniquely spectacular, and didn't find that here. I may have ordered the wrong foods, but I don't plan on returning. Mancy's has been a Toledo staple for 100 years. I've been going her since I was a kid. Back then it was great or even in my early 20's. I understand that people still think it's the best steakhouse in town. It's what they are used to and the Mancy name is part of Toledo. I took a client here for Atlanta for dinner. We both had Ribeye's and sides. The steaks for the price was not worth it. They were so thin and had way more fat than what a Ribeye should. The salads were so, so nothing spectacular or bad. I definitely would choose other steakhouses in the area that are better and have improved with the times and culture. I get it this is "historic" place for Toledo is just has not kept up. I'm not saying it bad, it just really average now. It's not the king of the crop it used to be. My customer said that this establishment wouldn't make the Top 20 in Atlanta. Although they enjoyed it, they said it was like just going out to dinner any other time. Not a special occasion thing. The service is definitely top notch. No complaints there whatsoever. Visited last night to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Hadn't been in a while. A classic steak house from days gone by, casual yet with a timeless feeling of dedication to great food and quality service. My bride had the beef tenderloin brochette and I had the 10 oz filet, both coupled with their house salad and one of their house salad dressings. I also had the 1lb loaded baked potato along with mushrooms and onions as an additional side. I normally order my filet's medium well, but ordered this one medium and it was cooked to perfection. Didn't splurge on cocktails, we both had the house cab which was fine for our evening given our drive, but be assured they have a full bar and complete wine list for all tastes. We didn't have room for dessert, but the list looked very tempting. We probably haven't been to the restaurant in 10 years, but we will be back soon. And, Natasha, our waitress, was very attentive, all in all, just a perfect way to celebrate our 40th! read more

I had a pretty unimpressive experience a few months ago, I decided to return this weekend because every restaurant can have an off day - now I am suffering with pretty bad food poisoning & very bad stomach pain. I wanted to see if others have been dealing with the same issues and then. saw. the. blade. inspection. According to the health inspection - this place doesn't just have a couple violations - it is absolutely filthy! An absolutely great evening at a beautiful and striking restaurant with beautiful and striking company. A birthday dinner treat that was a great day trip. A steak was one of the most moist I've had in quite some time you could cut it with a fork . They had handcrafted ice balls for your cocktails so they don't get watered down . And they even put genuine thought and Care into a doggie bag for your butt . The ambiance was historic and full of stained glass everywhere. The paneling on the walls was made of hardwood ship patch panels from World War II Liberty ships. Hands down it could compete with many of the older high end restaurants in Chicago. By far worth the drive in a century old building the staff is very knowledgeable and makes for a pleasant dining experience. My lord is this place good! Came in for my son's 24th birthday from Cleveland. The 2 hour drive through construction, storms, and trains blocking the road was well worth the effort. Started with a couple of local beers out of Frankenmuth, Michigan, which I can't get in Cleveland. Then I saw the granddaddy drink of all drinks, the smoked Manhattan. Seems like more of an Old Fashioned than a Manhattan, but the smoked flavor was out of this world. I first saw this a few years ago in Florida and will try one whenever I see it on a menu. I've even started making them on my own, but the style that Mancy's uses is my new norm. Rather than just smoking a glass, they smoke the bourbon in a bourbon bottle and pour from there. The vast amount of smoke the bottle can take really parts the exquisite flavors into the bourbon and makes a drink with a smoky tone last all the way until the last drop. But wait, there's more. This is a steak joint. Their special was an Iowa Strip Steak with a mushroom something or other on it. I have never had a better tasting dish. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium/medium rare and just melted in your mouth. My wife likes to kill all beef to a well done piece of leather, but even her fillet was tender and tasty. Finished off dinner with a birthday cake before hoping back in the car for the 2 hour drive back to Cleveland. It's probably just as well Mancy's is 2 hours away, as I would go broke if I could get here more frequently. read more

We dined at Mancy's Steakhouse last night. Our bill was over 1000. My Ribeye was grainy and tough. Rice pilaf was terrible. Zero flavor and the addition of quinoa a risk. I had the pleasure of trying this restaurant for a special occasion and it was well worth it to celebrate an occasion in such a nice environment. It was dimly lit with old school R&B like Mary J Blige and Boyz to Men in the background. The surroundings were comfortable and they were ready and waiting for our reservation. Our server, Bree, brought us bread and menus quickly. We started with an escargot appetizer that was piping hot and swimming in yummy garlic butter. I had never tried escargot before and I loved them here. The steaks were prepared perfectly and had a great crust and juiciness. The crab, however, was the star of the show. The legs were huge and sweet with the shells pre cut for a more simple eating experience. The drinks were tasty and had plenty of kick and the dessert was a nice ending to a perfectly indulgent meal. I am not sure why it has taken me so long to write a review of Mancy's. Perhaps it's because I take them for granted. Visit upon visit the food has always been consistent. Classic Toledo at it's best. Mancy's is perfect for a date night or celebratory meal, with the mood lighting, old school decor and expertly paced meals. My wife LOVES their bearnaise sauce on a petite filet, and I'm typically happy eating whatever seafood or steak special they have on hand. Not happy with the doneness of your steak? They'll happily take it back to make sure it's done right, lobbing apologies along the way. I'm a big fan of their pecan encrusted brie appetizer as well as their snails swimming in garlic butter. I bring my family from out of town here every time they're here... and the food, service, ambiance is perfect for these types of things. Or just a romantic night with your significant other. Exceptional quality and service from my waitress Angela who pocesses that rare super power of being able to be in 5 places at the same time and still be on top of all my needs. I ordered the 30 ounce ribeye (medium) it came out a bit on the rare side but I also like medium rare so no issue with that. This place makes truly great steaks. While visiting the Toledo area for a weekend getaway, we knew we wanted to check out some good restaurants. We decided on Mancy's steakhouse to visit last night. The location is a bit odd. We had to get off an exit earlier because of some construction. The. We actually couldn't get to the restaurant due to a train being stuck on railroad tracks. After going way out of our way, we finally made it. The area doesn't seem that nice, but I'm not from the area, so maybe it's fine. There was however a security guard in the parking lot who seemed to be watching the cars. The inside is beautiful. We were seated quickly as the restaurant was a bit dead likely because it was Cinco De Mayo. I ordered a petite filet mignon with a baked potato. It also came with a salad. The bread was pretty basic as was he salad. The potato didn't have tons of flavor as there wasn't any sea salt on anything on it. I got my filet encrusted in garlic which there wasn't an additional charge for, so that was nice and offered a better taste. When the steak first came out, our server asked me to cut it to make sure it was to my liking. Unfortunately it was not. I ordered it medium well. It was medium rare. She sent it back. I had also ordered my baked potato with only sour cream and it came with tons of butter so that went back too. When the steak came back out half of it was cooked great, the other half was now cooked medium. The price wasn't bad and everything was included versus some steak houses that only serve ala carte. My husband got The Manhattan steak. His was also undercooked, but he liked the sauce it was in. He also thought the rest of the meal was a bit underwhelming. Overall, not a bad meal for the price, but it doesn't compare to nicer steak houses I've been too. read more
