While visiting the Toledo area for a weekend getaway, we knew we wanted to check out some good restaurants. We decided on Mancy's steakhouse to visit last night. The location is a bit odd. We had to get off an exit earlier because of some construction. The. We actually couldn't get to the restaurant due to a train being stuck on railroad tracks. After going way out of our way, we finally made it. The area doesn't seem that nice, but I'm not from the area, so maybe it's fine. There was however a security guard in the parking lot who seemed to be watching the cars. The inside is beautiful. We were seated quickly as the restaurant was a bit dead likely because it was Cinco De Mayo. I ordered a petite filet mignon with a baked potato. It also came with a salad. The bread was pretty basic as was he salad. The potato didn't have tons of flavor as there wasn't any sea salt on anything on it. I got my filet encrusted in garlic which there wasn't an additional charge for, so that was nice and offered a better taste. When the steak first came out, our server asked me to cut it to make sure it was to my liking. Unfortunately it was not. I ordered it medium well. It was medium rare. She sent it back. I had also ordered my baked potato with only sour cream and it came with tons of butter so that went back too. When the steak came back out half of it was cooked great, the other half was now cooked medium. The price wasn't bad and everything was included versus some steak houses that only serve ala carte. My husband got The Manhattan steak. His was also undercooked, but he liked the sauce it was in. He also thought the rest of the meal was a bit underwhelming. I first had Mancy's in June 2017 as part of a rehearsal dinner for a friend's wedding. The meal was exceptional and I was in complete awe at the size of the baked potato that showed up (more on that later). For the past year, i have craved a return to Mancy's and finally got my wish a couple weeks when i stopped on my way up to Michigan. The bread that was served was warm and soft. I ate the whole loaf. I chose to order the fillet which came with a salad and a side (pick the baked potato) as well as a side order of asparagus. The salad was pretty large for a side salad at a nicer restaurant. I hate when I order a side salad at a steakhouse and get 3 pieces of mixed greens and a drop of dressing in a bowl - definitely not the case here. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium) and seasoned very well. The baked potato was just as I remembered from last time. The size of a football and filled with sour cream and bacon goodness. I can only imagine that heaven will be filled with Mancy's baked potatoes for me. The asparagus was meh - a bit bland since it was not grilled. Came to town this week and thought I'd try Mancy's. Haven't been there for about 20 years. The atmosphere is the same as I remembered, service is still top notch but the food was disappointing. The salad was just Romaine, carrot sticks and a tomato wedge. The dressing was watery and was at the bottom of the dish instead of on the Romaine leaves. The French onion soup was cold and bland. My steak came with asparagus - only two stalks. The baked potato was great but was missing the bacon it should have had. Our dinner for five was $300, over priced for the quality of food we were served. Won't be back. read more

This restaurant was a surprise and a joy! Natasha was fantastic. Superb service. The crab stuffed mushrooms were out of this world and the beef stroganoff was a culinary hug for my soul. Hands-down, one of the best Steak House's I've been to. The atmosphere is so original and unique and the food was spectacular. We Started with the Brussels sprouts (Ohio maple vinaigrette toasted pecans and local bacon). We each ordered the Aged Rib Eye steaks. His with Bone Marrow butter (sumptuous and lip-smacking) accompanied by Hash Browns (ask for them cooked well-done, incredible) and mine with the Garlic and Herb rub (simply put, wow) and a mouth dropping 1lb delicious baked potato. Our steaks were perfectly seasoned and both were cooked a perfect Medium-Rare. We finished off this meal by sharing the Bread Pudding (large enough for 3 people, no joke). This was simply one of the best puddings I've experienced. All said and done, my most highly recommended restaurant. If you really want a fantastic meal, find your way to this Toledo icon and ask for Crystal to be your server if possible. She made an incredible meal into a heavenly journey with her charming personal service. read more

Guys, I don't know what's going on, but this is the third time I've been to your place recently, we were there yesterday, and the steak has been sub-par. I mean seriously. I ordered a ribeye hoping it would be better than what I've ordered in the past - absolutely NO flavor, tons of hard edges that were not melty fat. You charge a fortune and the ribeyes I've had a Longhorn and even Bubba's, are superior to what you served me yesterday. My husband makes a better ribeye than all of them. It's tradition for us to have a Christmas girl's lunch every year at your steakhouse. I did not let our sweet server know because I was in happy company, and our server was lovely. But, I will now be suggesting somewhere else in years to come. This is not the steakhouse it used to be. Nice atmosphere, but management was stuffy, and I now have the opinion of "big hat, no cattle". When I'm paying 63.00 for LUNCH, and had only one drink, which was a coffee beverage dessert, I expect top-notch food. I"m done trying to be happy with your place. read more

Too Long, Didn't Read: Food isn't good. There is better food at chain restaurants. Service was slow for a high end restaurant. Service: Went to dinner with my partner on Thursday, February 10th to celebrate Valentine's Day and avoid the crowds. The restaurant wasn't that busy but it took about 10 minutes before the waiter came over to bring water and take our drink and appetizer orders. Drinks took an additional 15-20 minutes and we were ready to order when we received our drinks. The waiter said she would be right back to take our order and that was another 10 minutes before we placed our order. After placing the order, our food took about 30 minutes. This is transparency of my experience and I didn't hold it against them because they may be understaffed due to the pandemic. Food: We ordered the crab stuff mushrooms, cherry cocktail (forget the name, but it was on special), wedge and house salad, and 2 ribeyes with baked potato and rice pilaf as sides. The crab stuffed mushrooms were 4/10. The crab was good but overall the mushrooms lacked flavor. Carrabba's and Red Lobster has better crab stuffed mushrooms. The cherry cocktail has a weird aftertaste 1/10. The wedge salad was shockingly bad. It's hard to ruin a salad, but the dressing wasn't good and the wedge salad didn't come with enough toppings (bacon, tomatoes, etc.) 1/10. My ribeye was good, but could have used more seasoning/flavor 6/10. My partner's steak was not as good as mine so the steaks might be hit or miss. The baked potato was the best tasting thing we had at Mancy's. Overall, I've had better food and service at chain restaurants (like Ruth Chris) that are in a similar price point. read more

We go to Mancys for special occasions. This time was a birthday. We have been loyal customers for many years and are usually very happy..tonight was not one of those nights. Everything started good, onion soup was very good, salads good but too much dressing. Steaks came, cooked properly, cut into them, took our first bite and they were totally unseasoned. I'm only in town for the night so I found Mancy's on the internet. Service started a little slow but I got there within an hour of close so that's a little on me. I asked the server for a recommendation between the Soup of the Day (Italian Wedding) and their regular French Onion. She immediately answered French Onion so I went with that and the Pork Chop MR. Mancy's it a little more upscale so maybe they are on the slow food pace. Again maybe it's because I was there late, but everything seems to take a while. Either way it was definitely worth it. The French Onion was great and the PChop was the right temp and delicious. I don't remember what the menu said the glaze on the chop was but I think it was maple and it was excellent. If I make it back to Toledo I'll definitely make another stop at Mancy's. read more

My wife and I went there for her birthday tonight. I've been there many times throughout my life and usually always love the place. Our waitress Erin was delightful, the temperature in the place was a little cold, but the atmosphere is still always nice. My main reason for giving a 3 star is that the last 2 times I've eaten there I've been served cold food! I'm not talking luke warm, I'm talking a lobster and steak cool to the touch. I get lobster and filet and my wife gets the 30 oz Rib eye. Hers was terrific and warm. I don't know why mine would be so different? Mabey they make mine first or I do not know what the problem is, but twice now it's happened to me in a row. And unfortunately my whole meal was cold! When I mentioned it they did take my same food and reheated it??? I thought that was odd. Because it cooked the steak more and the lobster more?? Then unfortunately my wife had to eat alone, while they were reheating my food.. Anyway I love Mancy's and they have been a family tradition of ours for ever... I just hope this elementary mistake isn't a trend that is going to stick!! We paid over $200 for my wife and I each time and we don't drink, which is fine when you get a warm nice entre. The first time I said nothing,, this time was like seriously?? When we go there we drive all the way from Ann Arbor MI, and we so much look forward to it! How I miss thee, Mancy's. This is without a doubt one of the best steakhouses and overall dinners that my wife and I have ever had. The atmosphere is classic steakhouse, with some rooms being a little louder, and other being quiet and intimate. The waitstaff has always been fantastic, and we are treated like royalty the moment we walk in until the moment we walk out the door. The food is outstanding, with the steaks always being perfect, as well as the sides. I highly suggest starting with a salad or an appetizer; you're out for a nice dinner, treat yo self. I went here on a date like two years ago and the food and service was great! It was on the expensive side as we paid like $120 for two people to have steak, a glass of wine, and the crab soup stuff. I struggled with the rating of my experience here. This was my second time here. My husband grew up in the Toledo area, he said this place is a must eat place. As Michigan's governor shut down indoor dining, we decided to head to Ohio for my birthday dinner and to have my birthday here. The ambiance is wonderful. It captures the time this place opened back in the day. We had an excellent waitress, Erin. She was attentive, and always had an eye on us if we needed anything. Unfortunately, the rest of my review is not that positive. Inside the building was COLD! I dressed up for this special occasion, and I was so cold, I had to keep my winter coat on the entire time I was there. The food: We started with the escargot. Temperature of it was warm, not hot. Also not much flavor to it. It could have used some salt and garlic (if I say a food needs salt, it was pretty bland). The toast points that came with the escargot was good. I ordered the 30oz ribeye with asparagus. I ordered my ribeye cooked to medium. It wasn't until I got home that I saw it was cooked to medium rare. Temperature for my steak was a little more than warm, but not hot. My asparagus was borderline overcooked, and the temperature of it was almost cold. My husband ordered the steak & lobster with green beans. Everything came to the table cold. And we had to wait for the butter for the lobster. The butter was the only thing remaining warm due to the candle under it. Erin was good enough to get new food for him. Temperature was better, but still not hot. As this was my birthday, we ended our meal with their turtle pie. That very good. As it was ice cream, and our entire meal was not hot, this was the only item of our meal that was the right temperature. Nothing was acknowledged about our cold food, other than Erin's apologies (as we spent over $200 for our meal). This experience left me disappointed with the restaurant. As something of their caliber, I expect better than what I got. I'll be thinking hard about coming back, or even recommending Mancy's to my friends. read more
