Mango Mango Dessert is a cute little cafe tucked in a busy China Town shopping center! They have parking directly in front but it is a little tight. My friends and I came during Chinese New Years weekend, so the whole area was packed and we had to park in the shopping center and walk. The cafe is pretty small, but there is a loft area upstairs for more seating! We tried the Mango & Strawberry juice, which was like a slushee topped with sago (small tapioca balls), lychee jellies, and a scoop of mango ice cream. It was very refreshing and yummy, but the slushee melted very quickly so it does turn into a juice after a few minutes :) We also tried the mango mille cake which is a multi layer cake filled with cream and topped with fresh mango. I found it to taste a lot like whipped cream, not very sweet and kind of too much between bites. My friends enjoyed that part of it though, so it depends on your taste! We walked pass by the place, randomly decided to go in and I treated myself more than I should. Oh well, perhaps sometimes I eat more than I would expect but maybe, just maybe that's for my soul. Anyway, they have interesting unique Asian-influenced desserts to try. I love Ube so I get their Ube Mozarella Cube. I don't usually like cheese but I guess my love for Ube won. I also got the Walnut soup with Mochi. The ube cube is bigger than I thought! I expected it to be some sort of rip-off bite sized pieces, but no, they're legit and it comes in 2 pieces so yep, I'm happy. Despite of not liking cheese, the mozarella blends so nicely with the ube and the crust delicately wraps everything together. I enjoyed it. The walnut soup was just perfect to eat in the cold. Fragrant, warm, not too sweet, and somewhat comforting. My friend got the peach mochi, which I didn't try but looks cute and she seemed to enjoy it. Quite happy with this discovery. Price is okay. Very tasty dessert option in East Village! Came with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon, and found the cafe on the emptier side. Our group ordered several things, the favorite being the mangos themselves (super ripe!) and the mango ice cream. Breakdown of the other desserts: - mango Mille crepe cake was quite sweet with good texture - mango with sago and pomelo: the citrus added an interesting tart/bitter flavor to the sweetness of the icier liquid. Very refreshing - mango platter: good portion size for one person. The ice cream and aloe jelly was a standout, while the mochi's texture was spot on Service was decent, and the price wasn't bad for New York. Durian was awful. Some chunks had a sour flavor and some chunks were bitter. The durian ice cream was even worse. The most artificial durian flavor ever and that is the kind of ice cream that gives durian it's horrible rep as smelling like fart and stinky feet because for the first time I was extremely offput by a "durian" scent. That was the very first time I got the nasty, puke worthy smells from durian ice cream. So disappointed they would serve such a thing. They need to find a better durian source. read more

I will put the caveat here that I am not a big fan of ni tells but still got a crepe with nutella in it. In my defence though, they were out of the mille crepe that I actually wanted. Crepe texture was nice and so was the cream but I was very disappointed by the mango taste, which is surprising considering the name of the place. I found the fruits here to be fairly tart and lacking in that sweetness I'm used to when eating mangoes from SE Asia or Hawaii which are what I'm used to. Mango mango is a mango lover's dream. This place sells traditional Hong Kong desserts, and all of the deserts on the menu incorporate mangoes in them. We had to wait a little, but it wasn't too bad of a wait because there's plenty to do in the surrounding area. Four of us ordered 2 classic desserts and a mango mille cake. I do have to say that the classic desserts are a lot smaller than I expected them to be; one person could finish one dessert each if they wanted. In comparison, the cake was more shareable. I was very pleased to find a HongKong-style dessert place in St. Marks, so my friend and I stopped here for dessert. We shared Mango Platter and the Summer Rose Black tea. The Mango Platter lets you sample 3 different desserts. The portions are tiny, so don't get it on an empty stomach as you won't be full. I'd say the ice cream is the best of the three, and the mango and glutinous rice balls was second, and the mango mochi (?) was my least favorite because it was rather bland (not to mention hard to share!). Also we assumed that since the tea comes in a teapot you'd get multiple tea cups, but only one tea cup was provided as part of the set. You'd have to ask for a separate glass if you want to share the tea. The service was slow (waitstaff just hanging out at the counter instead of checking up on tables), and the place was unusually loud even though not many people were there. If you're looking for a quiet romantic dessert spot, this is not it. But if you want to try some decent mango dessert, I think this place is a good start. read more

Let me begin by saying that because we were in St. Mark's Place, my expectations we're HIGH. Unfortunately, they were not met. The mango juice thing was a-okay, but barely cold. Everything melted together as we began to eat it. The crepe cake was super dense and flavorless - this was a sad moment for me; I love crepe cakes. Gram-able food, but not tasty. Service was also super lacking, considering that there were only three tables being serviced. I won't be back here, but I hold out hope for other Mango Mango locations, I guess. read more
