I was there with a friend during off peak hours at 3 PM when there were hardly any customers. It took them almost half an hour to make 2 desserts and they messed up our orders. I didn't get what I ordered and my friend's order was completely flavorless. It's supposed to be coconut flavored fruit mix. But it didn't taste like coconut at all-in fact it tasted like nothing. There was no flavor and it was not sweet, like they'd forgotten to add the coconut flavoring and sugar to it. Plus, the fruits were hard and stale. It's such a letdown. I actually came here because I was looking for another dessert place but I couldn't find it, and I heard people raving over Mango Mango Dessert, so I gave it a shot! The ambience was very calming - a quiet open space in a small cafe with gray walls and comfy purple couches - like The Prince Tea House, this place made me feel at ease. The staff member helping me out today was very patient, accommodating, and kind. I ended up ordering the mango sundae and it was just like mango heaven! The mango ice cream was sweet and creamy - which I especially appreciate because I feel like every time I order mango ice cream, it's more like a sorbet or Italian ice. It's nice to have the ice cream's texture and creaminess but with mango flavoring! The whipped cream added to the airiness of the dessert as well as helped neutralize the sweetness of the ice cream. The pieces of mango fruit and mango syrup augmented the mango flavorings of the dessert. There were even chocolate wafer sticks that were the cherry on top of the whole dessert! Have been to this place twice, pre and post COVID. On the first occasion, I ordered one of the ice creams with mango chunks in it. My friend was very excited to make me try it, but both of us were rather disappointed as the mango was very sour. We could give them the benefit of the doubt as it was winter, hence not mango season. We visited again last week and definitely had a better experience this time - it tasted good overall but some mango chunks were still a bit sour or raw. First time coming here and the LAST time! Brought my little man who loves mangoes to try out their desserts. Took two subway trains to get to this location on 23rd St Marks Place; kudos to my little man for being so patient. With all the beautiful photos glorifying this joint, it was a huge disappointment going here today. I'm a huge mango lover so I had to try this place out! I used to have these types of desserts in Hong Kong when I was younger and am really glad they've made their way to the US. I got the mango sago with pomelo and mango ice cream and really liked it. The mangos were sweet, and I love how they taste with coconut milk and sago. The pomelo is a nice acidic touch, so the dessert didn't feel too sweet. Food/dessert is not that good, 2 stars at most. But service is on point. I'm a huge durian fan, so I had a durian crepe, durian mille crepe cake, and a taro herbal jelly bowl. The durian crepe had real durian in it, but the cream was too sweet and didn't taste like it's made from fresh real durian purée. The green crepe was also plain sweet. The durian mille crepe was even sweeter and has not much durian flavor. The texture was a bit funny, too. You were like eating a real sponge cake, not a mille crepe. Unlike Lady M whose mille crepes are soft and light, this place's was thick and cloying. Although it was a big slice, I wanted a coffee after one bite. But sadly, they don't have any coffee at all. Only tea. The taro herbal jelly bowl was disappointing, too. The mochi was very gummy, but also flavorless. We could only guess what we were chewing by the color, so darker purple might be purple rice, lighter purple might be taro, and yellow might be sweet potato. The rest are pudding, red beans, tapiocas, and herbal jelly in sweet milky soup. Nothing special. Not sure if it is because we didn't order the right things. I've tried a few things there and even though you could say they're all slight variations of the same thing, it's still always fresh and good. My friend and I shared the B Combo, in which I had A6. Mango Juice w/ Glutinous Rice Ball w/ Ice Cream, which had fresh mango juice that paired well with the different textures from the rice balls and the mango ice cream. My friend enjoyed hers and we both liked the S1. Mango Pancake that was full of fresh whipped cream and ripe mango pieces. I've also tried A12. Snow White Juice w/ Mango and Black Rice, which is basically a coconut milk base with ripe mango and sticky black rice. We also added herbal jelly for an extra $0.50. When you come in, you enter ur info to be on their waitlist. They will send you a text once a table is almost ready for you and your party to claim. The wait wasnt long for us on a Fri night around 8:30pm. We knew what we wanted and ordered our soup pastes. We were waiting and waiting and it took 20 mins for the black sesame paste come out. The walnut paste took an extra 5 mins. The soup pastes were disgusting. It def taste like powder from a box thst you can buy from a supermarket for a cheaper price. Not close to $10 for a bowl with 4 pieces of mochi, which didnt seem fully cooked. We didnt finish our paste and left. Service wasnt good since no one came to check on us or offer more water. I've had my eye on this place for a while because who doesn't love mango and desserts? My friends and I were in the area and came in right when it opened. We got several items: two of the mango desserts, an Ube soup, and the mango pancake. My favorite mango dessert had aloe chunks and red bean. In the other mango dessert the substituted mango ice cream with vanilla ice cream which was not cool. We were also the first ones in that day after they opened so how could they have run out of mango ice cream already???? For those who are from or have visited Hong Kong, Mango Mango Dessert is the NYC version of the beloved HK chain dessert shop Hui Lau Shan. In fact, over 50% of the menu is a replica of what they serve in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, the flavors at Mango Mango Dessert fall flat. My biggest complaint is that the mangos here just don't cut it. Instead of being sweet, fresh, and fragrant, the desserts tasted bland and slightly artificial. Chewy and glutinous...I've even gone to fork up an extra $1 to get some more on top of my desserts now. They're that good! The mangos they use are really good and very sweet, and it's a great blend with the juice, ice cream, and rice balls. My friends have tried the pomelo blended desserts and snow white ones, and they all have been great! The snow white juice desserts are slightly more sweet than the mango ones, fyi. Service here is very friendly, but slightly lagging when it comes to keeping up with guests. The line does go by very fast (don't be dissuaded by the long one outside!), but I often felt bad staying for a good hour or more, when there's people waiting. I also have an inkling that waiters forget to keep tabs on how long their guests have been staying? The durian smell when you first walk in is VERY overwhelming, so you have been warned! Most of the menu items looked the same but it did take a little longer for our food to come out. I was however pretty impressed by the food we got here. My friend got the Strawberry Mango Sago Classic Dessert which you can never really go wrong with. I got something more adventurous (compared to my usual orders) which was their Taro Ball with Herbal Jelly. Since we weren't very hungry, me and my friend ordered the mango platter and the waffle ice cream sandwich. The mango platter was three SMALL teardrop shape-like cups of three different desserts which is reasonable but I won't get again. However I did enjoy the platter especially the glutinous balls and mango pieces in mango juice. Pleasant surprise: the mangoes were sweeter than I expected! Sadly, there were out of mango ice cream so we have this scoop of vanilla ice cream with lychee jelly. Didn't get to try the mango mochi but my friend seem to enjoy it ( It's hard to share without just taking turns to bite). I didn't have much expectations for the waffle ice cream sandwich so when it came out being the size of about 1/4 of the plate, I was not excited. Good thing there were two medium scoops of green tea ice cream (no mango ice cream) between whip cream and two small heavily sprinkled with powdered sugar waffles. The waffles were crunchy which I enjoyed! It brought a nostalgic taste of the green tea waffles I use to get from Paris Sandwich on Mott Street that's no longer there. Overall, this place is a decent dessert shop but nothing impressive and doesn't stand out among the other dessert/drink shops nearby. But of course, this isn't the case with the bigger St Marks location! This location is a much warmer upgraded version, with cute white interior, better lighting, and even this grass backdrop to take photos with. My first time going here was in the afternoon on a weekday so there was literally no one else there. There was only one worker working there I believe! The menu was much more extensive than the one in Chinatown! I definitely recommend this place if you're into durian and mangoes as this is mainly what's on their menu! The service was amazing. That one worker was nice and attentive. He legit gave us all our desserts in a matter of minutes. I was so surprised. Thats a 5/5 service for me!
