TLDR: beautiful views, subpar service, mediocre food I have heard from a few friends that Mangos is a great spot for views and drinks but not necessarily food, and after grabbing dinner there I definitely agree. We went for my dad's birthday, ate outside with a gorgeous view of the beach as the sun was setting. I ordered a taco salad bowl that was bland, not horrible but not super satisfying. My dad got the burger and felt it was average, he comes to Mango's semi-often and always jokes they skimp on the fries (pictured). My mom enjoyed her tuna tacos, she found them filling and flavorful. Lots of space indoor and outdoor. Ambiance is super fun. Staff seemed busy and disheveled. Drinks were good. We got crushes of course! The menu is pricey for incredibly sub par food. Same level as Ropewalk - you go for the vibe not the food. Reminds me of a Bubba Gump.... I got a Caesar salad with jerk chicken and it barely had any flavor. As average as a restaurant can be. Was seated and didn't get a waitress after 15 mins and having to visit the hostess stand. Ordered two crushes, a mango crush and a creamsicle crush, the waitress didn't know which was which when she brought them and we couldn't taste a difference between them anyways - who is to say they were even the right drinks. Ordered the calamari as an appetizer - it was good, nothing to write home about, but still good. My fiancé and I both ordered the surf and turf. I know it's a big meal, but it took 40 minutes between ordering and it getting to our table, which is a little long in my book. The crab cake was subpar, especially compared to other restaurants in the area. The vegetables were kind of boring. We both doctored them up with salt, pepper, and lemon juice and then they were fine. Neither of our steaks were cooked how we ordered them (ordered medium rare, got well/medium-well). BUT, the steak was one of the most tender, juiciest steaks I have ever had. The steak was the saving grace of this dining experience. Definitely one of the best I have ever had. Our waitress was very nice and polite, not very personable (which is okay, not everyone is like that) and made very few, very short stops to our table. And again, I'm not sure why it took so long to just get our drink order. It seems the majority of the staff that I saw are high school or early college age. I am all for this! But, there needs to be some more experienced individuals there to help guide them. Service was probably more of a 2/5. Food was probably 2.5/5, but I'll be generous and bump them up to a 3/5. Drinks were very tasty (even though they didn't taste like what the description says we ordered), so I'll give a 4/5. For a Caribbean themed place everything was flavorless. I've never tasted a crab cake with no flavor. The rice and beans were just cooked with water not even salt. The service was pretty good though. Ok, it's November, in De., @ the beach, things have slowed down or shut down for the season...I get it! But, for the places that are open still doing business, then the customer is only to assume, "it's business as usual "....come on in! Not the case @ Mangos. We went there for an early family of 6 dinner, including our 2 grandkids. There were only 2-3 @ the bar, 3-4 people on the floor/tables, so obviously not busy at all. After we got seated, we waited a reasonable 5+ minutes before we were greeted by our waitress, very nice young lady, we got our drinks (water) after 15 minutes, then we all ordered & asked for the kids food to come out as soon as possible. That was the last we saw our waitress for over 45 minutes. I never saw anyone within eye contact to help, so I had to walk back to kitchen door & asked for her & was told she's probably busy. WHAT??? Ok, at this point, the kids were hungry & getting tired quick & we were all out of patience. Finally, our meals were served, all @ same time, and we were all tired of waiting so long & ready to go home. As far as the food, none of us had anything much better than average tasting food, some overcooked, etc. We left with a lot of unwanted food on our plates because it wasn't that good, the waitstaff & cook staff were sub-standard, & even though it looked like a cool place, the lack of decent help, service & good food was not happening here! read more

I'm not sure how this restaurant hasn't been shut down by the health department. We arrived for an early dinner and there was a "smell". As I looked around, there was 6" of dust on all the lights and ceiling fans and what appeared to be mold on the window sills. DO NOT use the restrooms!! I'm not even sure they were crab at all, they were horrible. I'm from Maryland so I know what crab cakes should taste like, just bad. The service was just about as bad as the crab cakes. This was my first time to notice this restaurant with my family of 6, therefore, we decided to eat here for lunch without a reservation. Mango's is owned by the TST restaurant group. Mangos is located on the second floor on the boardwalk overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. They offer the best restaurant view of the Atlantic Ocean. We were seated immediately inside. I later realized we could have eaten outside on their deck overlooking the ocean. Mango's has a large bar and entertainment area, therefore, this place must be hopping during the summer nights. I enjoyed their two orange crushes for $9 each. We shared and enjoyed the calamari for $15. I also enjoyed my rare blackened tuna sandwich for $18. My tuna was properly cooked. It's our last day at the beach and we wanted to go somewhere to get a nice lunch. Mangos was recommended by a friend, we already knew they had a very nice view. We came in and the servers were quite friendly and the person who served us was friendly too. The problem was the food; for an appetizer we ordered nachos. These nachos were lacking, they had no options for toppings and were basically chips with a little bit of salsa, cheese, and jalapeños. Honestly some of the worst nachos i've ever had. The entree wasn't impressive either, my burger wasn't as I had ordered and was overcooked. The breakfast burrito had a dry tortilla and wasn't pleasing either. My family has been going to Mangos for years. Usually it's a family favorite. We started off ok. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. We got our drinks in a timely manner. Our appetizers were delicious - calamari (my sons wanted more marinara, spinach crab dip and the tomato crab soup. Delightful. The things went downhill. We ordered 2 mahi tacos, 1 cod taco and a crab pasta. 3 of 4 dishes showed up. My husband's cod tacos didn't show. Waiter apologized and said he'd rush the cod tacos. My kids wolfed down their mahi tacos. I ate some of my crab pasta, my hungry husband shared. No cod tacos. My youngest polished off my dish. No cod tacos arrived. No rushed order from the kitchen. Pina Colada's were really good too, as well as the coconut shrimp, and good atmosphere to watch the game at the beach. For a Tuesday after 9PM, the bar was really busy, which made the ambiance enjoyable, and we had a good view of their many TVs to watch the game. Only reason this is getting four stars instead of five is that they switched to a late night menu after 10PM (understandable) but it was kind of weird options for bar food and we were hungry and didn't want what they had. I got coconut shrimp that was a bit overcooked with very bland rice and beans, and undercooked, flavorless vegetables. I would not order it again. Overall we thought the appetizers we ordered were better than the entrees. The servers were slow to remove dirty dishes which is one of my biggest peeves at a restaurant - when glasses and plates pile up. From looking at tables nearby, they seem to just leave all the dirty dishes and then clean the table after everyone leaves. It would be nice to train servers to take away dirty glasses when new drinks are brought. With a party of 8 they stacked up. I really wanted to like this place. I will admit I was initially nervous at the overall rating of this place, given that most of the recent reviews have been really good. I found out they have happy hour 7 days a week from 1:00-6:00pm. Being right on the beach, what's the worst that could happen? So I checked it out for myself. When I got there, I saw a small bar to the left, and was then told by the hostess that a bigger bar was behind the big wall straight ahead. When I walked there, it was completely full... but thankfully I was signaled by this young couple who was about to leave so I could sit. How thoughtful! So with the help of the bartender, I got a menu and saw some great happy hour options. It appears that the most famous thing is their mango margarita, but they have rails, beers and wine too. The mango margarita is frozen, and you can get either a small one or a big one. I found it to be quite delicious. After that, I decided to go with the FlamAngo, which was a mind eraser inside a plastic flamingo that is supposed to be drank as a shooter. How cool is that?? Well that was good too, and the video is timeless lol. As for the food, I got the chicken tenders and the black bean hummus. The tenders weren't big at all, but they weren't quite as fried as I was expecting, which was a nice surprise. And the honey mustard with them was bomb. The hummus had some salsa on top of it, and was surrounded by a full plate of tortilla chips. I was surprised to see a long plantain chip sticking out of the top, but it was all delicious too! I couldn't help but enjoy myself while watching the World Cup, and looking outside the window at the ocean. Very surprised at the lackluster reviews! My friend and I decided to venture out to Bethany beach and made reservations for lunch. Very impressed by how they are managing the restaurant during Covid. We sat apart from other tables and were given paper menus. We got the calamari for appetizers and got drinks. They didn't have two of the drinks I needed but it's fine stock is variable during the pandemic. Calamari was okay. Wish the breading was more flavorful. I ended up getting the mango crush which was absolutely delicious! For entree I got the garlic Chipotle shrimp with rice and subed my vegetables for French fries (since I'm a fatty lol). The fries were delicious and crispy and the rice was pretty good too! The shrimp was the obviously star of the show and was super flavorful! I just wish I got more shrimp haha. Finally tried Mango's for the first time and enjoyed our dining experience. We went during the week and were able to grab a table immediately. The room we were seated in was a bit loud but we could still hold a conversation with our group. For our meals we had the jerk chicken wings, nachos, surf & turf, house salad and cheeseburger. The burger and nachos were pretty basic and just ok. The salad was decent and a decent size. The surf and turf was good and quite filling, but it was a bit pricey at $45. The jerk chicken wings were probably the best as they were packed with a ton of flavor. If anything they could have been a bit crispier but they were pretty good. The service was fast and our waitress was friendly. Overall we enjoyed dining here and will be back to try more from their menu. read more

There was a decent portion of seafood, but it lacked flavor. Please don't call it paella if you're not going to go through the effort of properly seasoning it with proper Spanish flavors/spices.
