Went to Manito Tap House for the first time tonight. I really enjoyed it. We had to wait a little while, but I called ahead to get on the wait list so it wasn't bad. Have been here 3 or 4 times. Food is always amazing. My wife isn't a fan of spicy food and sometimes her dishes are a bit spicy (Mac and Cheese). However for a person who loves dishes on the spicy & flavorful side, this place never disappoints. read more

This is a place that used to be one of our favorites ( my hubby and I). I took him there today for his birthday and was so disappointed. We usually split a meal to keep calories down, which is usually not problem. Today the sandwich was tiny and they actually charged us $2 extra to get the Mac 'n cheese with the sandwich. Also, they would only pour a 7oz size for the beer I choose. Seriously?? Have always been an enthusiastic patron, now I feel this place has bought into the greedy corporate America philosophy. We have taken friends to the Tap House many times and they all love the food. Everything I've ordered has been fantastic, including the mushroom enchiladas with mole, shrimp tacos with smoked avocado and the chili margaritas we had yesterday for Cinco de Mayo. What a great place! Went there in the early afternoon and never wanted to leave. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We had the poppers (awesome) and had a burger and steak, both we're delicious. The place has a great atmosphere and huge selection of beers. When in Spokane, will always end up at the Tap House. Tons of beers on tap and the food is pretty good. Their appetizers are kind of boring and not good for big groups, but take a date there and you'll do well... I guess as far as the restaurant goes, the rest is up to you! The food is great! I have been in several times and each time they always deliver great good. Took a business associate who is a foodie from Texas and she liked everything! We had the mozzarella, fish tacos, and cheese cake. As well as great beers! The bartender was very knowledgeable about his beers and even helped us match up something with the cheesecake! I get it that this is supposed to be a great gathering place on the South Hill. But it is so noisy and overcrowded and impossible to have a conversation. The beer selection is fine but the food is mediocre. We've been there about 3 times over the past year (sometimes at invitation from friends) .We ordered a take out because we couldn't bear the long wait, the crowds and the noise. The mac and cheese with chilis could have made the cut if it were not for the chilis - why were they in this dish? They completely overpowered the cheese and bacon flavors. I like spicy food but mac and cheese should not have chiles in it or they should be subtle. My grilled Caesar salad was ruined by an awful dressing - very bland and not Caesary. It's easy to put Romaine leaves on a plate but without a great dressing, it's not classic Caesar. The "blue cheese" bacon dip for the yam chips is very bland - no bleu cheese taste and tastes like one of those pasty bland bases that some restaurants make their clam chowder out of. Why not just serve some great blue cheese dip with the chips? can't comment on husband's burger because I didn't taste it and he's not much of a foodie so wouldn't know the diff. But everything I've had at this place underwhelmed me. If the 20-something crowd loves this place and doesn't know what good quality and great tasting food is, then let them have it. read more

Great place an location on South Hill. Food is good, Beer selection is amazing. Would give higher rating it the night waitstaff and night managers/bartenders interacted with more than each other and not rude. As a couple, we have been in several times, the same night manager working the bar served us. No ""hello" or any other words than what can I get you. Another time he looked right through us. We are great tippers and enjoy going out. We stopped in one Tues afternoon, a young female was at tending bar, she was awesome. Had the Bar talking to each other, very engaging and warm. Last time we made it- evening, a short female waitress snapped at my boyfriend for standing at the bar behind my chair, as it was standing room only. She was rude, could have asked differently than barking at him and evil looks as she gathered her drinks at the bar. Needless to say, we are not interested in going back at night. I love The Manito Tap House! I have been going in there since it opened it truly has the best beer selection in Spokane. I don't eat there often but when I do it doesn't let me down. The beer has always been my draw but the people there are what retains me as a customer. Sure, I work in the beer industry but I choose to go to this place with my friends, family, people from out of town whom I haven't seen in a while, and by myself and I do so on my own time and my own money. Joe and Derek are among Spokane's best servers, Chelsea is awesome, and I love the owners and the fact that they never settle for mediocre. As previously stated, the beer is a huge reason that I come to this place but the bar tenders are seriously the X factor. Losing a full time Todd and Justin were tough but knowing that they were pursuing new careers that they had great passion for made their defections understandable and inspiring to me since I changed careers two years ago. But Brandon and Brian are the two guys for me who give this place the element that pushes it over the top and who have kept me coming back. They take the time to get to know their customers, are super efficient, know their beer, and never give anything less than exceptional service. Anyone I have ever taken there (even the naysayers who have claimed to have had a bad experience) have left Manito happy and eager to come back. Great new restaurant on the South Hill! The beer selection is vast. I had a Belgium beer and it was mighty tastey. We tried the flat bread appetizer which was very good. The Beef Boxty (?) was delish although it wasn't the prettiest dish. My mom had the enchiladas with chicken, also very good and the hus had the pulled pork taco which he said was fabulous and if it was offered in fish it would be the best fish taco in all of Spokane. We did have to wait about 30 minutes but there were 6 of us plus a baby and they were pretty busy when we first walked in. The host continued to check on us, check on the table he was waiting to leave to give to us and got us beers while we waited. He also cooed over the baby which gives him extra stars! A great dining experience! Also, I saw others post that it isn't good for kids but they do have a kids menu with crayons and they have mac and cheese, what more could a kid want? read more

The beer selection is great but other than that, I don't know that I'll be going back anytime soon. Called Tuesday night and made reservations with the manager for 10 people for the following Saturday. We get there at 7:45 and find out they didn't have our reservation on the books. While quite annoyed, the spunky little hostess, made me feel OK about this and told us she had a plan to get us seated soon. We waited until 8:30 and finally got seated. She was great and kept us updated during the wait. (She was pretty much the only positive of this experience.) So we get seated, order drinks, appetizers and food... 30 mins later we get said drinks. 30 mins! After waiting 30 additional minutes for our "reserved" table. Then oh, I don't know 9:25-9:30ish we got our food. Everything was served at the same time, appetizers and all. The burgers around the table were quite tasty, but one person at the table had a salad that was so spicy she could barely eat it. The manager never came by our table, didn't offer us a free appetizer or even a free birthday beer to my husband. I've worked quite a bit in the food industry and I'm honestly astonished that a new establishment wouldn't be schmoozing patrons when they mess up a reservation, give extremely slow service and serve appetizers at the same time as dinner. I can understand food coming out slowly with such a large party, but drinks really shouldn't take 30 minutes, especially when half the table had pitchers. Lastly, they tacked on an 18% gratuity, which I'm usually OK with, but the service wasn't even close to worthy of that. Some people at our table only had 14% gratuity added to their checks which makes no sense at all. When I brought this to their attention they managed to comp the appetizers... but the appetizers were only on our tab... nothing was done to make anyone else at the table feel like coming back. read more
