If I could give negative stars I would. Our friends and I wanted to try this place out since it opened and I can't believe what a let down it was and how awful the service and food were. Especially for the price. Could of got better food at Texas Roadhouse. My boyfriend and I came to celebrate his friends 30th birthday with his wife on Sunday. We were seated right away and had our server come and give us a free sample of there cocktail. Everything seemed like it was going to go great then it just went downhill. I ordered the Seafood tower , my boyfriend ordered the Australian rack of lamb, his friend ordered dry bone in ribeye and his wife ordered the chicken dish. Not only did the food come out literally an hour later but it tasted awful. The steak was flavorless and the lamb as well. The seafood tower had zero flavor. Service was horrible, the waiter never checked on us and we had to waive him down multiple times. He then disappeared and we had to ask one of the other waiters to find him for us. He then came and apologized saying that they are low staffed. Never checked on us for refills or anything. We are never going back it ruined our whole night especially our friend on his birthday. He was upset on how awful the service and food was. Especially for all of us spending around $380 together. Could get better service and food somewhere else. I ordered the Spanish Secrets cocktail which was perfect! The spicy rim is everything I'm looking for in my ideal drink. We started with the dry-aged meatballs, Spanish octopus and the citrus salad. Still drooling over those meatballs and tender octopus tentacles. For our main course we ordered the fire-roasted king crab which is pretty much my death row last meal. The butter and chili oil, the infused flavor, the quality of the crab! I'm getting all my cravings worked up just by thinking of it. We also had the Snake River wagyu filet, which was so enticing we closed our eyes as we chewed, asparagus, and butternut squash. I took all the squash home in a to-go box- no sharing with my friend! Dessert did not disappoint. We ordered the sundae service AND the coconut cream pie. As if we weren't gluttonous enough already. The sundae was so fun, with nearly everything homemade, and the pie was delectable. Just a hint of rum, not overly sweet. And the real cherry on top of the experience? The service team. The manager Zac was not present but we conversed over email, the maitre'd stopped by to introduce himself, and our server Justin was TOP NOTCH. It's unfortunate I have to leave this review as I have been to this location a number of times before and the service was much better than this. Made reservation for my friend's birthday and was seated on time. It wasn't our first time but we had some questions about the menu that weren't really answered...our server seemed overwhelmed and didn't have a lot of time for our table. There were long gaps between drinks and food and we had to specifically request certain table dishes at the end of the meal because they just never came. Updating my previous review. Ashley the manager reached out to me and encouraged me to give them another shot. That alone was a nice gesture. I made another reservation, this time to celebrate my fathers birthday. What can I say? Ashley and her team hit it outta the park! I truly believe my first interaction here was an isolated incident. We were greeted at the door by a friendly staff that was Covid compliant. Waited no more then 5 min to be seated. Was greeted by our server who was extremely pleasant and upbeat. It was very welcoming. They wished my father a very warm and heartfelt happy birthday, and he had a huge smile on his face when he saw the custom menu. On to the food & drink. The prickly pear cocktail was a very nice start, not too sweet, but well balanced. We started with the shrimp cocktail, these shrimp were huge and succulent with a hint of that natural sweetness paired with a cocktail sauce that had that nice fresh horseradish kick! We followed that up with a couple of ribeye steaks and the sides of whipped potatoes and asparagus. The ribeyes came out exactly to order, no additional seasoning needed. They were absolutely perfect. The asparagus was cooked again to perfection, had that nice fresh bite to them without being undercooked, maintaining that good crunch to them. The whipped potatoes were so buttery and decadent and smooth. Everything was absolutely delicious. Even more than the food, the service was excellent! We never were interrupted too frequently, the servers we attentive in the most perfect way, nothing too pushy or overbearing, just the right touch which to me is a very difficult thing to achieve. Amazing dining experience! Came to Maple & Ash a couple weeks ago with my boyfriend and they did not disappoint. They start you off with an amuse bouche which I forgot the name of but it was so refreshing, I had a full order of it as my cocktail of the night. My boyfriend and I ordered caviar as our appetizer and it came with blinis and other things. For $60, it was well worth it! For dinner, we had the "Baller Seafood Tower" which consisted of Maine Lobster on the half shell, Manila clams, oysters, scallops, and huge prawns! This was I believe $200 which worth it as well! I am truly stunned by how bad the brunch here is. $75 to choose your entree and unlimited slides. The crab Benedict was touted as the best in the city. After tasting, I was insulted. The lackluster plating should have given me an indication. Mediocre hollandaise, dry English muffin and a skimpy lump of crab meat thrown on top. Not sure what makes this a standout crab Benedict other than maybe how obscenely overpriced it is for what you get? The "crispy" potatoes were actually soft cooked fingerlings that were underseasoned and flavorless. Surely the thinly sliced filet mingon would be tasty? Moderately so... The thick cut candied pork belly "bacon"... Not a fan of that either... Bold attempt to try to improve upon just a good quality, crispy bacon - and you did not succeed. 2 bites of a bland main and then punch-in-the-mouth sweetness from the scones. If I had not been with a large party, I would have left. The only type of people I can see standing for this type of con is the Botox riddled Scottsdalians paying with daddy's credit card, too hungover to notice or care. Great cut, but my steak had zero flavor, zero char, zero seasoning just plain as can be. My fiancé ordered her steak medium and im pretty sure it came out rare plus. I've lived in the valley close to a decade and I've hit up most of the popular steakhouses. Many of the high end ones are owned by the same parent company, they have the same looking menu, and are overpriced with sides that are overly salted and buttered. Maple & Ash is built different. The dry aged ribeye prepared "Chicago" style is simply the best steak you can find in the Valley. The char brings out the beefy, almost suet flavor coupled with a crispy texture, thanks to the inherently high fat content of the cut. The Caesar salad is a minimalist's dream, single stacked Romain leaves with just the right amount of acidity, well dressed but not overly to the point of sogginess. Creamed corn was a nice addition not too creamy, but the bone marrow stuffing I would avoid..tasted more like a boxed stuffing (although I doubt it was). Wifey ordered the perfectly cooked and seasoned seafood tower. Coconut creamed pie/dessert was on point as was the knowledgeable server. The prices are high but considering the quality of food and the location it's as expected. My only complaint is the bathroom attendant....not his behavior but the fact that there is one. I can assure you no one wants a person in the bathroom standing around when you are trying to do your thing. Then if you don't have smaller bills on you it's uncomfortable. This doesn't make your place seem classy..it's an old outdated tradition..that diminishes the trendy vibe of the restaurant and awkward, uncomfortable and antiquated. You are better than that! For all that's been talked about this place, most of it is just hype. Long story short, we came in for a client dinner with 17 people. We had made arrangements with their catering team before hand. Once we arrived, there was some question over what name the reservation was made under. The Hostess was not particularly helpful with locating the reservation (seriously, how many parties of 17 do you have on a Tuesday night?). After some back and forth, we were seated at a ten top, seven seats fewer than our reservation. We had to go back and spend another 5 minutes "working" with the hostess to find out what happened to our reservation of 17 seats. Eventually we were seated at another table. From a food perspective, it's pretty standard steakhouse flare. The filet was decent (3 stars), the sides-mashed potatoes, Caesar salad, and macaroni and cheese (4 stars) were the highlights of the food. I was a little underwhelmed by the decor for all the hype this place has. I was seated looking towards a wall and all I could think was that the mirror I was looking at looked like a vanity mirror you'd find in a residential home. Sean, our server pulled out the red carpet for my husband and I tonight. The service was outstanding from the check in for one reservation and throughout our entire dinner. My husband and I are visiting Arizona for our honeymoon and tonight was our chance to treat ourselves, and although it's a pretty penny, it was worth every dime spent. We started with the pro seafood tower, and had the steak frites and filet for our entree. They started with a complimentary cocktail and snacks, and the chef provided incredible pasta courtesy of our visit. They even threw in complimentary asparagus. First off this is an amazing venue, staff are attentive (and there when you need them) ambulance is classy however not over the top. Now for the reason for the 2 stars, , they play music way to loud, We have to talk louder than the table beside us so we can hear each other, and also it is annoying when you have to listen to others conversation while you are trying to enjoy the meal. We ordered the I don't give a F*@k which is $200 per person. This is a rip off - you are better off to order ala cart and save your self the money - we paid $600 for this and once we added up all the individual items they only totaled approx.$420 on top of this they charge you 3.5% for staff benefits - with the prices you are charging I am sure that you are making enough to pay a decent wage to your staff and should not be expecting your guests to pay for what you offer - that is if they all work full time and can afford the benefits (there is an option to decline this, however the person you have to tell is the one who supposedly benefits from this - it also factors in to the tip that is left as we as customers seem to be ripped off. The sides were mediocre - we were served the whipped potatoes with gravy and asparagus. Asparagus was overly salted and I must say that this was the first time that I could have eaten my whipped potatoes with a straw - they were so runny if it was not for the gravy there would not have been any taste. If you want a great night out there are better restaurants in the area that severe pretty much the same items for less so save your money and do a little research and get the best for your money - this place had too few high points to make me ant to come back. read more

My friend was asked to leave after she became ill in the restroom. The manager, Michelle, assumed she was intoxicated, my friend was not. (She had half a drink) Michelle would have known this had she actually checked on my friend and offered her medical attention instead of ASSUMING my friend was drunk. I work in customer service as well, and Michelle was incredibly unprofessional in how she handled herself that night. After I asked why she never asked my friend if she needed medical attention she stumbled on her words and then said "well fine you and your friends can stay." I always look forward to trying a new fine dining steakhouse for the dry-aged options. 28, 35, 45-day dry-aged steaks.... mmmm. Maple and Ash have a unique cooking method, using only maple and ash wood to cook the steaks over an open flame. They also offer some seafood options (that we did not try), but were served warm using a flash heat method in a particular type of oven. It sounded much more interesting when the waiter was telling the story! The staff are super friendly, funny and professional. I got the dry aged New York strip, bone in. It was so tender and full of flavor! No sauce was needed, but a little of their beefed up butter was a nice boost of flavor. All the sides are family style and were amazing. The whipped mashed potatoes were extra whipped and probably fifty percent butter! The macaroni and cheese was heaven in your mouth and the mushrooms were very unique. The dessert special was bananas foster, cooked table side! Check out the video attached. Personally, I have not had so much chocolate with my bananas foster, but it was still heaven in your mouth. The setting was very nice, very clean, neat pictures. We sat on the outdoor patio, but there are plants all around, so you still feel like a part of the restaurant without being exposed to the wilderness known as the general public of Scottsdale. So. We wanted something amazing for the night of our 20th anniversary, 9/11/19. My boss told me about Maple & Ash so I looked into getting reservations. We arrived and were seated quickly. The atmosphere was trendy and very, very loud. It was difficult to hear the wait staff. It was very dark but our table was lit by a candle which was replaced three times throughout the course of dinner as it burned down quickly. Our waitress had a new employee shadow her. We were given menus and began to order our meal. A few radishes were placed on our table with a few olives and four slices of soppressata. Three slices of bread were brought out with some butter with a huge amount of flaked salt that was room temperature. I like salted butter but goodness, this was way too salty! Next were the salads. My wedge salad was just okay. The best part was the few pieces of bacon. The hubs had a ceasar salad which came with an egg sliced in half that was undercooked and left on the plate to return to the kitchen. The hubs ordered two pastas. The angolotti was over cooked but also over-truffled to the point of leaving such a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn't eat more than two. The cavatelli bolognese was, again, way too salty! The entrees, filet for him and surf and turf for me, came out with the worst presentation I've seen in Scottsdale. The filet, ordered medium-well, came out with blood on the plate by itself. The surf and turf came out with the watery red lobster "juice" all over it. I also had t been told that mashed potatoes were included--I wouldn't have ordered a side of Yukon gratin if I had known. The mashed potatoes, however, were disappointing and flavorless. We ordered the "beefed-up butter" but honestly it added nothing of value other than another layer of salt on my already overly satiated salty palate. I was asked if I wanted my iced tea freshened up and because my mouth was so filled with salt, I agreed. I didn't expect $4.00 refills! It's freaking water with a slight tea taste. There was nothing special about it! Don't waste your $20-just get water! The only dish I would order again is the Yukon gratin. The onion rings were blah. The Mac and cheese was, again, way too salty. The dessert was great, though! But how can you mess up an ice cream sundae with fun toppings that you can create your own? Overall, I'm not at all excited that we chose this place for our 20th anniversary.
