The service was fairly consistent and the food came out quickly. The menu items seems little simple, and could use more flavor. The drinks really helped save the meal and bring everything together. The ambiance however was very nice, the restaurant has a nice date night aesthetic

Tried this place out for a birthday dinner & it was very good! The atmosphere & aesthetic was very nice! Our server was very helpful & guided us in good drink options. The food was good as well.

This was a cute place that you can take a date on if you want to run into a high risk of mediocre food. The ambiance is beautiful and the food is meh. Also, if you get the chicken... check it... because my friend's chicken was undercooked, bled, and was spongy. I personally would only go back for drinks but not the food. BYO Margarita: 10/10.... I got Passionfruit, tajin rim, blanco tequila, and asked for it to be spicy. This was perfectly balanced and tasted amazing. Carne asada: 5/10.. the steak was cool and I needed to add seasoning to it. It was also a very small portion, so do not order if you want to be full. The rice and beans was seasoned perfectly Guacamole: 3/10... ffflllaaaavvvvvooorrrrrlllleeesssss... please ask them for salt.

Went to eat with my girlfriend for a girls night and we had a great time! The vibe was super cute and just what we wanted. Food and drinks were super good. I love the ambiance of this restaurant and the parking was easy as well for the location. Service was great as well. Will definitely return to try more menu items.

    Creme brûlée pineapple - YAAAAAS!

This place was (mostly) delicious; mostly Peruvian cuisine with other South American influences. The food was flavorful - the handmade tortillas were so so good! Best I've ever had. We got the queso fundido for an appetizer, I got the shrimp tacos, and my husband got the short rib tacos. All of them were excellent, but then we got the creme brûlée pineapple. I wanted to love it because it was beautiful! The caramelized pineapple chunks at the bottom were definitely a treat but the custard wasn't set, it was actually runny. It also had a weird bitter aftertaste, like it was made with artificial sweetener. I wouldn't order it again. The main reason why I didn't give this place five stars is because of the noise level; I'd have knocked it two stars if the food hadn't been so good. This is not a good date night place, at least not if you're looking to have actual conversation. It was so loud we couldn't hear our waiter. They had the music at an insane level and it was super fast-paced. Later, a live saxophone and bongo duet came out to semi-play along with the overhead music, so it was competing tempos. I won't lie though - there were several bachelorette parties there and they seemed to be having a blast. We are in our early 40's and while I don't consider us "old" - I'm thinking this is just a younger crowd and not what we were expecting. So with all that being said, if you're looking for delicious food in a loud and raucous atmosphere, this is the place for you! (At least on a Saturday night). If a calmer, quieter place is more your vibe, maybe skip this one.

What a chic and hip place. The ambience was so nice a real vibe. The service was excellent and efficient. They picked up the dirty appetizer plates and forks brought clean silverware afterwards. A couple improvements would be to have the wine chilled before serving or bringing out. And identifying spicy heat level. The lomo saltado was too spicy for my taste but had a great taste. But I had to return it because it was way to much to handle. The waiter was very pleasant and brought me out something else completely different and I was happy with. Prices were as expected and the plate sizes are small but you are paying for the experience and service. The trece leche cake was excellent and could eat a whole one on my own .

I really wanted to love this place, but the food did not deliver. Argentinian Beef Empanadas - 3/10 These were... okay. The flavor was mild and the filling didn't have much depth. Not terrible, but definitely not something I'd reorder. Queso Fundido - 0/10 Absolutely the biggest disappointment of the night. Bland, oily, and nowhere near the gooey, flavorful queso you expect. I wouldn't recommend this at all. Baja Shrimp Tacos - 5/10 Pretty average. The shrimp was cooked fine, but the seasoning and toppings didn't come together in a memorable way. Edible but not exciting. LA Diabla Cocktail The star of the night. Great balance, great flavor honestly the drink carried the whole experience. Overall, the service was fine and the ambiance was nice, but the food missed the mark for me. I'd come back for a drink, but not for the dishes I tried. What do yall recommend?

Eh. I was expecting more after hearing raving reviews about this place, and it being so hard to get a reservation. My 3 girlfriends and I decided to try dinner here Friday night & I have to say the ambiance definitely carries the weight of value. Gorgeous interior and entry way that is very instagrammable. The service was friendly and fast, but everything on the menu seemed overpriced for the quantity and quality. The presentation was gorgeous, but the food itself left a lot to be desired. I was still starving after the meal after having spent around $75 on food and drink, and the fish quality wasn't the best I've had. All and all, I'd come back to have a drink at the bar but not to dine.

Big Eye Tuna Ceviche, Patatas Bravas, White Tuna Crudo, Guacamole, Duck Flautas, Lomo Saltado, Grilled Chilean Sea Bass I'm always obsessed with the vibes here! Such a fabulous resort style setting with the most delicious, beautiful drinks. Even their mocktails were fantastic! The food was pretty good, but there were some misses. The big eye Tuna ceviche was decent, but such a tiny portion served in a occlusive bowl. The white Tuna crudo was frankly disastrous--it was drowning in some sauce, and the Tuna itself tasted like it was rotten--all 10 or so of us tried a bite and immediately spit it back up. The duck flautas were solid! The lomo saltado was my favorite--full of flavor and spice, although a touch bit too salty. The Chilean sea bass was pretty good too

Really nice date spot with Tulum vibes. I loved the ceviche. The drinks are fun and pricy as expected. I liked the tacos a lot. The chimichurri steak was a little tough for my liking but will definitely be going back for a girls dinner or date night!

Great spot to grab a drink or have a nice dinner! The decor was gorgeous. The entrance is absolutely stunning and the vibe was very upscale. We went on a Saturday night around 9pm and it was very busy. I would recommend having a reservation if you plan to eat there! The bar was full, and so we were kindly oversee a table outside to enjoy our drinks. The bartenders were so sweet and accommodating! Even with the bar being full, they offered a great alternative with the outside option. The manager on duty was truly so kind and helpful! He checked in multiple times and showed me to the restroom. Entire staff was great. Only reason I am giving 4 stars is the drinks were unfortunately not too great. It could have been it was very busy so the bartenders were moving quick. Will certainly give another chance though! If you want to go to a place that feels upscale, please check it out!!

I'm surprised about the mixed reviews. This place is amazing and we had such a great Valentine's Day dinner. We started with the QUESO FUNDIDO. So good with the fresh homemade tortillas. Then we had the PARILLADA ARGENTINA which was a meat board with sirloin, filet, sausage and chicken served with trio of sauces and handmade tortillas. The sirloin and filet were perfect and I loved the flavor of the sausage. The sauces were delicious and a perfect pairing to the meat selection. For dessert we had the PINA COLADA CREME BRULEE. Delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The ambiance of the restaurant was romantic. The waiter was SO friendly and knowledgeable. He had great recommendations and seemed to really enjoy his job. He was very attentive and made the experience all together perfect. The only complaint I had was the sauces didn't make it in our to-go container.

First review of 2025 goes to Mar Y Sol Cocina .. This place is all about ambiance, beginning with the entry corridor, Mar Y Sol Cocina atmosphere permeates chill & laid back. Whether date night, happy hour with friends, our business meeting, Mar Y Sol's dim lighting low-fi music allows you the opportunity to break bread yet still hold a conversation without screaming across the table. Visiting for a birthday party, restaurant midweek wasn't extremely busy, however still had a small evening dinner rush. Menu wise, the establishment has some exotic options however house speciality items such as an Argentinian meat platter, picana steak, or seafood options such as sea bass or snapper , there's enough for the fine dining experience or simple meal. Having just left South America, I opted away from steak choosing Seabass instead. Fairly priced, the meal decently portioned. The highlight was the Caribbean curry sauce. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I'll definitely be back for another visit.

Does Mar Y Sol have on-site parking?

    Yes, but its valet only.

    What's the dress code?

Officially smart casual, but from what I saw, you could probably show up wearing just a neon thong and still be seated.

Is this the place that charges a "prep fee" to shake a margarita?

We ordered margaritas and didn't see a "prep fee" on our bill

However, I do feel there are some details that need more attention to elevate the overall experience. The white outdoor seat cushions looked extremely dirty, which took away from the otherwise beautiful atmosphere. I completely understand that the somewhat outdoor seating comes with exposure to the elements, but a stronger maintenance routine or even replacing the white cushions with a floral or patterned fabric could make a huge difference. It would not only hide wear better, but also complement the vibrant colors of the roses and décor beautifully. As for the food, it was okay but not particularly memorable. We ordered the Thursday special, which includes the meat board with rice and beans. While the $99 price point for the meats is reasonable, the portions of rice and beans were only enough for one person at most, which was disappointing for a shared meal experience. I also ordered the halibut and was honestly surprised by how small the portion was for $54. In my opinion, it was not worth the price. Overall, it was an okay experience. The restaurant is undeniably pretty and great for ambiance and photos, but the food and value did not quite match the setting. Unfortunately, it's not somewhere I would personally return to.

It was extremely loud in there though, I couldn't even talk with the others in my group hardly. We were basically yelling at each other as if we were in a club. I will say the food to be was just mid. I think it was pretty pricey for the flavor and portion. I got the Verde enchiladas and they were very skinny enchiladas, with rice and beans that were a bit dry. The wine I had was good though, it was the Meioni Pinot. It was delicious.
