What a great addition to the area! Honestly, Vancouver needs more places like Mon Pitou. There was a pretty large line upon arrival (as expected) but we didn't mind waiting as it was a lovely day out. Once inside we ordered 2 americanos, the Lox bagel and French onion soup. All super tasty! Service was very friendly and efficient, no complaints here. *I also saw they had vegan croissants Of course the decor, and ambiance are every instagrammer's dream, very authentic with a welcoming feel. Lots of baked goods and sandwiches which I will definitely have to come back to try. They also had live music out front starting at 12pm, just made the whole experience that much better! Full disclosure-this is my favorite coffee shop! From the moment you see Mon Pitou you know it is going to be absolutely adorable! With simple outdoor seating and thematic blue coloring, this bistro & bakery knows how to set the stage. French music plays in the background as you step onto the classic subway tile floors and see flowers, fresh fruits & jams, and all the baked goods you could imagine. A true gem. I ordered a hot chocolate and two pastries (a slice of the lemon tart and an apple galette) all of which were *chef's kiss* perfection. THE BEST BRUNCH IN VAN. The croque madam here is the best one in Vancouver. It's done so well!! The bennies here are also so delicious, although sadly one egg yolk wasn't runny. Service here is always amazing! They don't take reservations but the wait ended up only being 20 minutes. Love this place so much! read more

Just had the BEST breakfast sandwich of my life. I absolutely LOVE this place. The vibe makes you feel like you're in a cafe in Europe. The food is amazing (not to mention the croissants and pastries) and the service is great. It's tiny, so if you want to get a seat, make a reservation way in advance. Otherwise there are two tables outside that are first come, first served. There will be a line up on weekends just for takeout. This is officially my new fave brunch spot. read more

I came here for brunch the other day and had high expectations as I had heard many great things about them. We sat on the patio as there are only 3 spots inside. We ordered with the QR code menu and waited approximately 30-40 minutes for our meal. We had the waffles with berries and the croque madame. The waffles were mediocre. Not your crunchy type and also not your fluffy type. It was chewy and soft. The whipping cream saved the entire dish. The croque madame was your basic sandwich with bechemel sauce. The egg was nice and runny. The salad had a light vinegrette on it and was the highlight of the dish. It helped off set the heaviness of the dish. All in all, the inside interior looks beautiful. The service was okay. There were no apologies or explanation about the wait time for the food but then again we didn't ask. The food seems like a miss or hit but I could be wrong as I only had two dishes. I most likely wouldn't go back again if the wait is always this long for brunch. Ordered what I thought was a sausage roll and was surprised to find a hot dog inside. The management promptly emailed me to explain that this is a take on a French snack that does not have a sausage inside. I stand corrected and learned a little more about French culture. Best vegan croissant I've had so far (and I've had quite a few around vancouver). Buttery and flaky (!!!) which never happens with vegan croissants as often they are more soft and chewy. Quite a good size too. Highly recommended for vegans and non vegans alike (I doubt you'll taste the difference - my parents tried it and they were blown away by how close to a regular butter croissant it was). I'm not sure I can go back to other vegan croissants now. Cute place that was full of people when I went at 1pm on a Wednesday. However they don't use separate tongs to grab the vegan pastries which is the only thing to be improved upon as otherwise my experience was perfect. read more

I really tried to enjoy this spot as much as a love the concept and feel, but at the end of the day my first encounter with Mon Pitou was on the underwhelming side. Mon Pitou is part cafe, bistro, and grocer. My experience is from the cafe side. The cafe side of the business is primarily a togo operation, with a small covered outdoor seating area (reasonable for COVID times). For togo, I found a wide selection of sandwiches, pastries, and viennoiseries, as well as your typical cafe beverage options. I picked up a croissant, a turkey brie sandwich, and an americano. The croissant was nice - on the smaller side, but flaky and had the signature honeycomb structure of a good croissant when you cut into it. The croissant was a little sweeter than your typical croissant, which I actually quite enjoyed. The turkey brie sandwich had a lot of potential and I thought it was a nice touch that they offered to heat it up until I received a pretty carelessly toasted sandwich that was warm on the outside but ice cold on the inside. The coffee was nice and strong. Overall, the food was a bit of a mixed bag, ringing up to ~$20. I wish I could tell you the price points of the particular food items I ordered, but there was only a small drink menu in the establishment. Oddly, nothing in the display cases had labels/prices. The employee manning the counter ran through the roster of 5 or 6 sandwich options, which was helpful, but at the same time, I can't help to think how that's productive when you've got a line outside that runs down the block. The pastries and viennoiseries were straight forward enough that I could assume what they were for the most part. Might just be a personal preference, but I tend to like to have a clear cut idea of the options in front of me and their price points before ordering. Otherwise, an offering for an itemized receipt would be appreciated... For those interested in the sit-down bistro brunch experience, I would advise you call ahead to make a reservation to avoid disappointment. Though there is little indication on their website and socials on how their brunch service works, I was told that there sit-down bistro service was reservation only on the particular Sunday I dropped by and sounded like it was pretty high in demand. As a new establishment, I do give them credit in trying to operate a three-prong business during COVID. Hopeful that they are just in the process of smoothing out their operations, I think I will be back again for a croissant in due course. read more

Sticklers for rules and times. Overpriced cult following. Dont misunderstand - the food is ok. Good even by the standards of the brunch genre. But it isnt what the hype makes it out to be. Coffee is very middling at best. Egg dishes are overpriced and well executed but annoyingly trying too hard. The ambiance is nice and I bet female dates appreciate this. Atmosphere was loud, but the decor was nice and well thought out. Warm and somewhat inviting. Not a friendly place for persons with allergies or dietary restrictions. Zero accommodations will be made (I had asked for hash/potatoes to replace the meat but was declined). It seems like they're trying to be a high-end place with zero experience and know knowledge on how to actually do so. Staff was inconsiderate and too rushed to accommodate questions or concerns. Was cut off in the middle of ordering so that another persons order could be taken. Had to pay $15 per person for the reservation in advance and was crammed into a table inches away for the one adjacent to us. Layout was not ideal. Food was okay. I spent $20 for 2 eggs on a english muffin. The rest of the plate had greens on it as a filler. It also looks like they may have a mask-policy, which is fine, but most of the staff are constantly lowering them, including when taking orders or answering questions. It just looks really uncomfortable, and at that point, what's the purpose? A great place for gays to go and be fancy, but I'd only come back for coffee and pastries if I was trying to impress someone. read more

All the rage with the French community, this place has gorgeous decor and high quality food (that you'll pay extra for, but it's worth it.) Their ingredients are top shelf. The salmon bagel on Siegel's poppyseed is almost as good as Russ & Daughters in NYC, and they made us a special salad which was near perfection. Their pain au chocolat is delicious, if a touch soft for our tastes, and the blondies are a slice of buttery sweet heaven. The music - and the two owners, Triet and Jesse - are delightful. The only real disappointment is that there's nothing vegetarian here yet, but we keep asking and so does the neighbourhood, so it should hopefully be coming soon, and hopefully it will be as carefully considered as their meat offerings. read more

I've made a French friend recently, so when I saw Marche Mon Pitou on UberEats, I figured why not? I got the croque monsieur and a breakfast croissant, as well as a slice of carrot cake. I'll open with the disappointing: The breakfast croissant wasn't so good. It fell apart, which would make sense with enough toppings, but it was pretty thin. What was there was tasty, but there just wasn't enough of it, and the integrity of the bottom of the croissant was weak. The croque monsieur was fantastic. Big portion size, lots of meat and cheese/sauce. It wasn't like the croque monsieurs my dad made when I was little, but still great and worth it. Highly recommend. The carrot cake was also excellent. I don't like cakes and pies, but carrot cake is a rare exception. Tasted wonderful! read more

I have no major complaints about my experience at Mon Pitou, but also no major triumphs to report. Obviously, the aesthetic and the branding are 10/10. But my first impression of the offerings can best be summed up in the words of Paul Hollywood: style over substance. I ordered a chicken salad bagel, which was a decent effort, but not something I would return for. Pros: high quality chicken, lots of fresh herbs. Cons: way too many cranberries, underseasoned. The whole grab & go section just needs more finesse. For example, proper signage with descriptions that actually identify what's in each sandwich. Even from a sales perspective, an appetizing description would be a definite advantage. I was also surprised at how un-French the grab & go lunch options are. Not necessarily a bad thing, just didn't fit the bistro vibe. The highlight was definitely the mocha, which was flawless. It also should be noted that my bagel sandwich + mocha came to $21 before tip. Overall, I just expected more. Clearly a lot of work and thoughtful attention to detail have gone into the design, so I would love to return and hopefully see that same care reflected in the food. Maybe the made-to-order menu is more impressive. read more

We waited an hour for a table and were told we only had 15 minutes to sit shortly after we were seated. The staff were rude and took forever to help us order and my threshold for rude service staff is pretty high these days. They are trying to be this cute insta-worthy parisian cafe, but save your time and visit the actual authentic french bakery on Arbutus or Au Compoir on 4th Avenue for authentic french food and pastries, unless you are looking for somewhere that looks nice but is snobby and makes you feel bad and overcharged when you leave. read more

Excellent customer service and delectable food! My party had encountered an issue before our reservation and ended up being late, but we were reassured to arrive safely when we called and was shown immediately to our table upon arrival. The exceptional service from our waitress was night and day compared to our nightmarish issue with our hotel just 30 min earlier. She was polite and answered every question regarding recommendations for store merchandise with incredible knowledge of all the products which I fully appreciate. And the food! Every dish was delicious, the mushroom soup was a perfect blend of vegetables and not too salty, the eggs benedict with smoked salmon was to-die-for, even the side salad vinaigrette had the perfect amount of tartness to balance out the hollandaise sauce of the main entrée. Menu does not have orange juice but waitress mentioned it as an option. I get the bill and it was 10$. For comparison, breakfast was 18$. My friend had a coffee and tea and still 4$ cheaper. I think if you have the audacity to charge that much, warn people. Or, don't? read more
