Sorry, hate to be that guy, but this was an dreadful experience. We ordered a full pie combo pizza for $26. Ingredients were sparse, pizza lacked seasoning and the dough was extremely dense and WAY undercooked, almost raw. The young "gent" that took our order was beyond baked. If you want to be comfortably numb, fine, but when operating a business, woke the hell up bro! Restrooms are Sani-Hut outhouses :-O Liked the outdoor "vibe" of the place and it was a perfect Friday evening with live music, but the food and port-o-potties ruined the experience. Awful! We read some positive reviews on this place, and decided to give it a try while we were in the area. The live music was good. But it goes downhill from there. We waited almost TWO hours for a couple of pizzas. We paid upfront and then sat at our table, waiting, waiting, waiting for someone to bring the pizzas. I got up and inquired a few times (after 1 hour) and was shooed away by the staff and told "we're working on it." Okay, I get that they are super busy. However, I couldn't believe what ended up being delivered to our table. The pizza was burned! It was hard, dry and chalky. It looked like a pizza one would buy at the grocery store and bake in the oven at home. (Heck, I could have probably done that quicker than it took to get the pizza from Marco's). I've attached a couple of photos. At that point we were starving, so we ate what we could and got out of there. There are far too many options -- with live music -- in the area. We ate dinner here on a Friday night before a two-day rafting trip this summer with a company only a couple of miles away (Mariah Wilderness). It was close to closing time when we arrived and they had run out of their red sauce veggie pizza, so I ended up with a large slice of pesto potato. My husband had breadsticks and ranch, and a slice of a chicken pizza (since they were out of pepperoni). ($20.65) The place was packed but our group of six found a table out front and drank some wine (purchased there) will we waited. There was a loud band in the back and even more people and some dogs. The pizza took forever to get to us - it was pretty good when it did arrive but the wait was awful. There was a really long line for the bathroom, but the trees/woods aren't far away for the not shy. While one of our friends waited at the table, a woman came and grabbed her pack of cigarettes off of it, ready to help herself to one. Our friend stopped her, but realized later in the night that her phone was missing (she'd had it there with her earlier). Perhaps the same woman took it. When she checked back with the place the next day they said they had not found one, that more than one was missing, and not to have high hopes for getting it back. The food was good and I really liked my second-choice slice, but since there aren't a lot of restaurant options in that area, I would imagine most weekend nights, especially in summer, will always be that packed - so expect a long wait for your yummy food. read more

My review is perhaps jaded by the overwhelming business that the place was having during a live music night. We arrived in time to get a table for 4 (the last one!) Ordering is odd in that you order your food at a window in front and then your alcohol at the bar in the back. We were there for a total of 2 hours and received our food only at the tail end of it. We ordered an appetizer of carrots and hummus (no cooking required) thinking that this would tide us over as we went into this place expecting a long time until we received food. Unfortunately, the appetizer never came. After finishing one pitcher of beer, I went to the front window to follow up. I was told that they lost my ticket but that they remembered part of the order (huh?). Why not come and find us on the patio? It's not huge. I was given the carrots and hummus immediately (why not so initially???) and promised that they would rush my order. Meanwhile, a server had visited the table asking if we had ordered food because they noticed us being there for a while without food. My wife explained and they brought chips and salsa to the table shortly thereafter. Wonderful...two appetizers now. We received our main food in proper time thereafter. As I write this review, what I had to eat does not come to mind and therefore I am pretty sure it wasn't memorable. In the end, my family spent over $100 in food and beer only to leave with unhappy kids and personal grumpiness for the ordeal. At least the band was good. read more

Although the temperature can be scorching in town, it is so breezy and comfortable under the grape vines which cover the patio. It makes for such a gorgeous setting. If your expecting posh Marcos is not the place for you. Marcos is the best place on the Divide, for family fun, singles, or just couples that want to go out. Come early if you want fast service otherwise it's a wait. Marcos is a pizza/lasagna/salad place with bigger events that sometimes have curries and hotdogs for kids. They have weekly great bands and dancing and non expensive prices make this outdoor wonder a naturally beautiful spot. Come for an hour but I bet you'll stay for 4. We love it! read more

I love the vibe here. It's a very casual, fun, and "everyone's welcome" type of place. It always seems pretty busy but the food is worth the wait and they typically have beer or wine I like so I love coming here. The 4 stars are because I did have an unpleasant experience at the bar one night but I will say they were busy and maybe the bartender was having an off night. I am a local and use to go here after a day at the river, But last month we went with a friend of ours from out of town(New York) and after waiting 45 minutes for his pizza(we got ours) they said oh we had to bake some new ones it will be another 45! In reality they forgot his order and lied to us about it. Obviously we are at the same table so that wont work. The woman behind the counter then was rude and said, "your not from around here are you", just because he had a New York accent and was asking why he had to wait so long. He said "you act like you dont even care", and she said, "your right, I dont"! Then(it gets better) the manager came out, and stated," I'm the owners best friend" what can I do to help, once my friend told him the waitress was rude, he changed modes completely(obviously he likes her) and said, "maybe you've had to much to drink", which is funny since my friend does not drink....ever. They did not offer him other appetizers, or free drinks or anything, just insults. I was so embarrassed because WE promoted this place...at least we use to. My Roommate from New York even has said this is the closest pizza to new york pizza he has had since he had been in california. I live down the road.. but just moved here and stumbled across their bar after being in the river for a while. the menu is limited but everything is worth it! their Salads are all organic and from the area! and if you don't know the area all our produce is amazing!! I went to Marco's one night after a guide from a rafting trip recommended it. It's a casual spot with all outdoor seating, which I liked a lot. The kitchen was technically closed, but they served us anyway. The best part was the live music. The band was only ok, but nothing says summer to me like sitting under the stars with friends, good beer and reggae. The negative was the pizza and breadsticks. The crust was thick and very hard, so I gave up on eating about 1/3 of the way through. I noticed my friend and Tintin doing the same. It was cheap so not a big loss. 4 for the venue, 2 stars for the food, so 3 stars overall. It was a nice spot to hang out for a couple of hours before heading back to camp. read more

Stopped in after a day of river rafting on the recommendation of some of the rafting guides. FIVE STARS for: Place is packed and happening. Live band on the patio. Good drinks. Totally relaxed atmosphere. Patio was set up well with nice lanterns and ambiance. Friendly staff. ONE STAR for: Food Service time We ordered one "personal/mini" pizza and one "small" pizza. Okay, this was a big joke. One was a 3" x 3" piece and the other was two 3" x 3" pieces. Delivery of those teeny pizzas was about 45 minutes. After a day of rafting you are expecting a personal size pizza like they have a Round Table, Shakey's BJs, etc. We were still hungry after our four bite pizzas, but the wait time was so long we just couldn't order another "piece" so we split. The salads seemed to arrive for other tables in about 20 minutes. If you're hungry, go somewhere else. If you want to chill with a beer on the patio with music, go to Marco's. read more

Three of us went here on the recommendation of our guide from our white water trip. We sat at a very nice outdoor bar that reminded of us of the Big Island. There were fresh table grapes hanging down from the arbor. Really cool! The first thing we noticed were the great local wines on the list including "Hangtown Red" and "Pinot Grigio" from Miraflores. I love a place that serves the local wine. They also had some interesting beers including a "hemp beer". I was concerned about finding something healthy to eat and they had a very delicate veggie curry with tofu. The vegi's were cooked to perfection and the sauce was slightly spicy. When the owner saw me putting Siracha sauce on it, she offered me a homemade mint sauce that is spectacular. I liked it so much, she gave me some to take home. My friends had pizza, and thought it was excellent. However, we tend to like the pizza with more veggies and less cheese. My friends also finished my curry. We were sorry we could not stay around for the entertainment that evening but we will be back next season. It is worth the trip! read more

The cafe is charming in a rustic, backwoods sort of way... There is only outside dining. You order your food at a window. The pizza, well, it is pizza. It is square, and it is thick.. I take it they don't really make the crust in the building... They don't roll it out. If you are a family of four with four hungry people, you might consider at least one large per person. We were a family of five, three adults and two children... There were no sizes on the walls as you normally see. We ordered two large pizzas thinking that would be enough.. After being on the river all day, one pizza per person was not out of order. Needless to say, we went to bed hungry that night. The pizzas are square, about 8-9 inches long and 4 inches wide... The pizza was decent, or what we tasted. It went so fast that we hardly had a taste of the pizzas.. I would eat there again as it is the only pizza game in town. read more

We had a little get-together with some friends at this little roadside cafe. It is all outdoor seating and resembles an old drive-up restaurant from the 60's. You walk up to the window, order and pay. They give you a number and you sit on the spacious wood patio under the shady trees. They serve beer and wine and have live music on weekends. We had Sierra Nevada Summerfest ale and Lagunitas IPA. Then pizza, which was delicious. The crust was thin and crispy and the cheese was excellent. They only have one tiny restroom for both sides. It lessens the confusion between multiple genders, but the wait can be long. Parking is sufficient for a large number of cars. There were no bugs out in the first week of May. If you are on Highway 49 between Placerville and Auburn, consider Marcos as you pass through the eyeblink town of Coloma. There are quite a few places to choose from on both sides of the road, and Marco's is one of the better ones. Seasonal from May to October. read more

Their salads are amazing and the homemade vinaigrette dressing will turn any non-salad person into a salad lover! They have amazing and unique specials that incorporate local, fresh produce, cheeses, etc., that are a must order. And to complete the meal, you can pair your food with some awesome local beer and/or wine options that are out of this world! To top off the experience, Marco's is an outdoor restaurant that sits just near the South Fork of the American River and looks up to the golden hills of Coloma. Sitting out on the deck, listening to the live music, and watching the sunset illuminate the hillside is a magical experience that everyone should enjoy. I was also thoroughly impressed with the COVID-friendly accommodations they are making to keep their customers safe.
