A chicken poor "Signature Pot Pie" Funny, I didn't read it was vegetarian!
    Freddy D.

We were glad to find this location still in business and made it a point to go check it out. The place is tired, signage looks old in the entrance and front counter area. My Turkey dinner was extremely salty. It did look nice! My dining companion's pot pie had next no chicken in it. Our food server never checked on how our meals were, did he know? We were seated by the bar by an intoxicated loud man and his elderly Father. It might be wise to not sit in that area. I was so looking forward to this. There is another Marie Callendars to the East, I believe, and they have higher ratings. It's really a shame, they use to be so good, then I'm probably relying on memories from over 20 years ago.

I used to go to Marie Callender's in Glendale a very very long time ago. But, it was permanently closed a very long time ago. So when my friend said she wanted to stop by Marie Callender's during our Palm Springs trip, I thought it would be a nice nostalgic visit -- and we went. We arrived around noon and ordered the 2 for $52 deal, which included an appetizer, entrée, and a slice of pie for dessert -- a great value. (And, I ordered decaf coffee). For the appetizer, we first ordered the cheese sticks, but they were unfortunately not good at all. We asked if we could switch to something else, and they allowed it. My friend chose the artichoke dip instead, and that one was very good. For entrees, we ordered the Stroganoff with noodles and the chicken fettuccine pasta. Both dishes were tasty and satisfying. For dessert, we chose the banana cream pie and the chocolate pie -- both were delicious. However, the service was a big issue. Our waitress rarely came by even when we tried calling her, and she didn't check on us for long periods of time. My friend even had to walk over toward the kitchen area multiple times to get her attention, and even then we still had to wait quite a while. Later, the waitress explained that there was a big party group, which made it difficult for her to come to our table. (On my way back from the restroom, I also saw the party -- my friend said it looked like a baby shower.) But honestly, this explanation didn't make much sense to me. The restaurant had many empty tables, and there were plenty of other servers. A restaurant should assign one server to the large group and still have another server properly handle the smaller tables. The lack of organization really showed. Another issue: our table filled up with dishes and wasn't cleared promptly. Because of that, when I was trying to put leftovers into a to-go box, I accidentally spilled the entire Stroganoff onto the floor. OMG. It was embarrassing, but at the same time it happened partly because the table was just too cluttered. Fortunately, another staff member quickly came over and cleaned it up. We moved to another table to enjoy our pies, but again, no one came by for a long time. Eventually, I had to walk to the counter myself to pay and hand them my card. The restaurant server was friendly, but the service felt very unorganized, slow, and frustrating. Being ignored for long stretches, having to keep going to the kitchen to find our server, and waiting endlessly just to check if we needed anything -- all of it made the experience much less enjoyable.

It wouldn't be a birthday celebration without the banana cream pie. I stopped in shortly after opening on Wednesday so it was pretty empty. They offer plenty of parking adjacent to the restaurant in their open private lot. In addition to the pie, I also picked up oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. They are baked fresh daily, are larger than most and pretty delicious. At $1.24 each, they taste even better. There's a $5 off promo on all pies right now. As far as the service, I was a bit underwhelmed considering I was the only one ordering and the two at the pie counter were very focused on setting up the area than on the customer experience. Perhaps training was taking place.

Please be cautious! We ordered from the happy hour chicken wings and we found a mini roach! So gross thank goodness I saw it before eating anything. It also didn't help that the waiter kept denying it and said that was a chili flake. Check your pies and food before eating. Avoid if possible probably has more mini roaches!

It is Christmas .... So went to Marie Callender to get a Turkey dinner and a banana pie. It is a banana cream pie not as good as as the Marine pie, but still pretty good. The dinner I bought it for someone else, but the turkey looks like thick pieces and plenty of foods. The turkey dinner was $20, but it is ok. It is Christmas. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Ray out.

I usually like this place but they do typically forget something on the to go orders and today I got a moldy tomato in my Frisco works burger. Good thing it fell apart so I didn't eat the disgusting tomato. I definitely wasn't able to eat the rest of my burger. I can't believe they even put this on the burger! This also means they just cut the produce they know is bad and serve it. I'm highly disappointed!

They have the best banana cream pie ever. Fresh bananas paired with perfectly sweeten banana pudding that isn't overwhelming.

Update: After emailing what I now found out was the corporate office, the franchise owner emailed me apologizing for this, advising he refunded my full order, offering a gift certificate. The owner acknowledged that this does not resolve the experience and that work will be done with the staff to ensure food quality. The response and action is appreciated!

Marie Callenders has the best banana cream pie you'll ever taste!! That is the main reason I chose to come here for my birthday dinner. We came on a Wednesday evening around 6:30 PM and our party of 4 was able to be seated right away. There was plenty of parking outside so no need to worry about that. I think there was a happy hour going on, so our appetizers were 50% off. - Fresh Avocado and Shrimp Stack (5/5): So fresh, so tasty. The serving size was the perfect amount, if not more! So worth it - Cheesy Spinach and Artichoke Dip (4/5): The first few bites were really good. However, after a while, I got sick of the flavor because it started smelling kind of funky but it's just because of the cheese. - Southwest Avocado + Shrimp (5/5): This salad was pretty good. We opted in for the grilled shrimp which was so flavorful. - Homestyle Beef Stroganoff (4.5/5): Stroganoff is always a hit or miss for me. I actually really liked the one I ordered here. The sauce was so creamy and the meat was tender and tasted delicious. I think I could go for a little bit less sour cream next time though. - Shrimp and Chicken Carbonara (4/5): This pasta dish was okay, nothing too crazy but also not bad. I think next time, I will order it without peas because I wasn't a fan of them in the dish. - Margarita Flight (5/5): Alcohol content was really good. The flights were large in size, which lasted us a while. My favorite was the mango margarita because it tasted like a mango mexican candy. - Banana Cream Pie (5/5): When I think banana cream pie, I think Marie Callenders. You can never ever go wrong with the pie here. It has the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess. The bananas were all fresh and everything else was perfect down to the little almond slices on top. This is also a good place to go to if you want something small while watching a sports game. When I went, the Dodgers were playing and everyone was hyped up. Our server was also so friendly and helpful. I'll be back in the future for more banana cream pie!! P.S. for your birthday you get a free slice of pie!

We decided to stop by because we hadn't been to this location. The restaurant is really outdated. There's dust on furniture, water damage on the ceiling and plastic bags/open boxes in the dining room. The food is subpar. I ordered the chicken pot pie and the potato and cheese soup. The crust of the pot pie was good, but the filling didn't impress me. The coleslaw it came with was even worse. I had one bite and it tasted like it was spoiled. The chicken seemed frozen and the filling was pretty salty. The soup was okay. The lemon meringue pie was okay. A lot of the other pies were sold out so we didn't have many choices. The service was good and that was the best part of this dining experience.

Anyway, onto the food: -Seafood Gyoza, not sure what kind of seafood is inside, but it was crispy and paired nicely with their ponzu dipping sauce. -Geso Fry, fried squid legs with a spicy mayo was decent...but I enjoyed the gyoza more. -Japanese Chicken Karaage Salad was HUGE, generous portion. My mom enjoyed it, and I think it's already lightly dressed, but they still gave more dressing on the side? -Savory Japanese Monte Cristo French Toast, while I didn't try this, my mom says she liked this dish very much. Served with potatoes and salad. -Taro Sago Souffle Pancakes were delicious. Light, fluffy, bouncy and *not too sweet* -- really enjoyed this! They do serve it with a tiny scoop of ice cream, that I mistook for butter/cream, lol, but it melts quickly so if you're wanting this as a dessert/finisher, I'd probably say to wait for it at the end. However, since these souffle pancakes already have 30 min. prep time or longer, I don't know if waiting for it would cause an even longer stay at the restaurant. One unisex bathroom available that was clean. Service was a little slow at times, but I understood as they were very short-staffed...I just can't imagine the flow & delay on weekends. Parking is plentiful and shared for Atlantic Times Square. Restaurant space is clean, bright and A/C worked really good.

Not sure why I was expecting to speak Chinese to order but surprisingly staff taking our order spoke perfect English with no accent. They were quite welcoming and patient while we looked through the entire menu before ordering to-go. Hot Sweet Soybean Milk - good warm temperature and comforting but not the best I've had. Tasted quite watered down. Convenient to grab if you're already here for food. Hot Sweet Soybean Tofu -really good and easy to eat. I personally like the peanuts in it, peanuts soaked up the sweet ginger syrup. Tofu is silky. They do ask if peanuts are ok when you order, you can definitely opt out if you don't like texture in your sweet tofu. Bake Sesame Bread with Beef (added pickles)- really good, sesame bread is more of a flaky pastry rather than a fluffy bun. Expect tons of crumbs but really good. Beef is tender and not dry at all. Pickles added a ton of texture another depth; sweet, salty, bit of tang. Fan Tuan always good, I usually opt to add both eggs and pickles. But if I'm not feeling too hungry I could go without egg. Green Onion Pastry -pastry is flaky and buttery. Filling was a bit saltier than I expected but good. Ham& Radish Pastry - pastry was also flaky and buttery. Filling wasn't my favorite, radish was quite tough and fibrous. Sweet Baked Sesame Pastry -perfect for kids, filling is just sugar and some sort of flour they mix with it. Surprisingly not too sweet.

We were recommended french fries with our espresso martinis which hello why say no but I kid you not our food was sitting on the counter (where the food comes out) for more than 15 minutes before our server at the bar gave it to us. I had to ask them (they were talking to 3 different servers the entire time) to grab them for us lol thankfully, it was just french fries. And mind you, the fries were the only thing out so obviously they were ours. It was not busy. 2nd time I went it took extremely long for someone to come and take our order mind you there was like two people at the bar, including myself and a friend and about 3 to 4 servers behind the bar, talking to a customer and their dog, touching the dog petting the dog (gross) and overall distracted we called them over like 3 times and I swear we were being ignored! Took them over 10mins just to get us water not even counting the drinks we asked for! 3rd time I went, I know you're probably thinking why do you keep going back if their service is so bad but I'm not kidding when I said I used to love this spot. Any who I ordered food and saw with my own two eyes the food runner, wipe her sweat fix her hair and touch the food not wash her hands and not run a single thing...It was as though she was just hired to stare at the food... lol we sent it back and asked them to remove it from our bill which they did. Each and every time I go these days the service staff look like they can't be bothered and are always talking amongst themselves, which is fine but at least take my order and not make me wait 20+ minutes for some water and drinks while you're getting your chat on with people you see every day... I feel so bad saying this, but they should definitely reevaluate their protocols because the ambience this whole thing gave off was not good. I was embarrassed to say the least when my friend said he hated the recommendation. Ugh .
