I haven't been to Marie Callender's in a couple of years, and I had a really good experience here recently. We skipped lunch and had a late dinner around 8 pm., so we were very hungry. When we arrived, we were happy to find out that it was happy hour until closing at 9 pm. We ordered two appetizers, which were half off during happy hour. We got the buffalo wings and the spinach and artichoke dip with tortilla chips. Both were delicious. The wings were crispy and flavorful. The spinach and artichoke dip wasn't as thick as I wanted it to be,, which concerned me for a second, but the minute I tried it, I loved it and couldn't stop eating it. The tortilla chips were crispy and had what I think was paprika seasoning. It was a huge serving and we had leftovers but ran out of chips. I asked if I could purchase a side of chips to go, but they just gave me some and didn't charge me. We also ordered the mini chicken pot pie combo, which came with a Caesar salad and a slice of pie. They had run out of the mini chicken pot pie, so they gave us a large pot pie instead without charging us extra. The pot pie was really good and had a thick filling. On my previous visits, the pot pie was more on the watery side, so I was happy that this one was nice and thick. The Caesar salad was refreshing with crispy lettuce. We were so full that we got the slice of coconut cream pie to go. We ate it later and thought it was just okay. I wish it had more of a coconut flavor. Customer service was excellent. Food is satisfying.. Had the half house salad with Bleu cheese and mini pot pie. Our server was helpful and patient. 5 stars for the server, for the pie (mine was key lime), the mini pot pie, which was piping hot, so beware, the crust on top was a light golden brown. Zero stars for the thermostat, it was humid and warm. They had a big fan on the west side of the main dining room. but my party of four were sweltering in a corner the fan failed to reach. Minus Zero stars for the gal behind the register at 1 pm. on Wednesday who couldn't be bothered to look up from her cell phone to greet customers, or answer questions, or provide any service to anyone who approached. The muffin/pie counter. If she was on a break, she might want to leave the register so there would be no expectation of service. If this place closes permanently, I can see why. Sad place -- nearly empty at midweek on a warm afternoon. But my friends enjoyed the pot pies, the pie and it was a great time so I'm assigning 5 stars because we were left alone to have a long three-hour reunion of old friends from high school days. Five stars for the nostalgia, of a restaurant that has seen better happier yummier days. They were dark, burnt, dry and so hard to chew I could not eat them at all. This location also does not feel like a family restaurant anymore. It feels more like a sports bar, which was not what I was expecting or wanted. For the same amount of money that I spent here I could have gone to a much nicer restaurant with better quality food. We hadn't been to this Marie Callender's location in years and decided to give it another try, but we definitely won't be back. The inside looks old and really needs an update. They also seemed totally understaffed because we only saw one server working the whole floor, and it was quite busy, especially on Mother's Day, so it took quite a while just to order. They had AYCE Brunch but closed at 2 p.m. We got there around 1-ish, so we skipped the AYCE Brunch. We ordered the Honey Ginger Glazed Salmon ($24.99), Mini Chicken Pot Pie Combo ($17.99), Albacore Tuna Melt ($16.99), Onion Rings ($1.99), and the Artichoke & Mushroom Chicken Dinner ($29.99). As for the food, the Honey Ginger Glazed Salmon had an okay glaze, but the salmon itself was a bit dry. The Mini Chicken Pot Pie combo came with a Caesar salad and a free slice of apple pie, but the pie was way too soft, and the pot pie texture wasn't nearly as good as the one I had at Moffett's in Arcadia, despite having a flaky crust. The Albacore Tuna Melt was actually pretty decent with the melted cheese, avocado, tomato, and bacon on sourdough, and the onion rings were good and crispy. Finally, the Artichoke & Mushroom Chicken Dinner came with a pretty good potato cheese soup. I liked their flavorful rice pilaf, but the chicken breast itself was way too dry, and the coconut cream pie dessert had a completely wrong texture. Whenever we're on this side of town, we love visiting this particular Marie Callender's location. They have freshly baked pies on the daily. This Marie Callender's location on Atlantic Blvd. also provides great customer service. During this visit, we purchased their classic Apple Pie, Chocolate Cream Pie and Custard Pie. These are our favorite Marie Callender's pies. One of my other favorites are the Keylime Pie and Strawberry Cheesecake. So good! No wonder Marie Calenders is a nearly dead business . I just bought 2 slices of fresh fruit pie. Well, they both tasted like shit. At $11.00 per slice. The most important thing is the pie dough. Clearly the pie dough used is no longer made the way it was when I was a kid. Clearly it's pre-made in some industrial kitchen. Then the fruit is literally dumped onto this tasteless pie dough. And the little fresh fruit that was there, was drowned in not fresh fruit syrup. It was barely baked, white in color and very soggy. Literally crap in my mouth. We were glad to find this location still in business and made it a point to go check it out. The place is tired, signage looks old in the entrance and front counter area. My Turkey dinner was extremely salty. It did look nice! My dining companion's pot pie had next no chicken in it. Our food server never checked on how our meals were, did he know? We were seated by the bar by an intoxicated loud man and his elderly Father. It might be wise to not sit in that area. I was so looking forward to this. There is another Marie Callendars to the East, I believe, and they have higher ratings. I used to go to Marie Callender's in Glendale a very very long time ago. But, it was permanently closed a very long time ago. So when my friend said she wanted to stop by Marie Callender's during our Palm Springs trip, I thought it would be a nice nostalgic visit -- and we went. We arrived around noon and ordered the 2 for $52 deal, which included an appetizer, entrée, and a slice of pie for dessert -- a great value. (And, I ordered decaf coffee). For the appetizer, we first ordered the cheese sticks, but they were unfortunately not good at all. We asked if we could switch to something else, and they allowed it. My friend chose the artichoke dip instead, and that one was very good. For entrees, we ordered the Stroganoff with noodles and the chicken fettuccine pasta. Both dishes were tasty and satisfying. For dessert, we chose the banana cream pie and the chocolate pie -- both were delicious. However, the service was a big issue. Our waitress rarely came by even when we tried calling her, and she didn't check on us for long periods of time. My friend even had to walk over toward the kitchen area multiple times to get her attention, and even then we still had to wait quite a while. Later, the waitress explained that there was a big party group, which made it difficult for her to come to our table. (On my way back from the restroom, I also saw the party -- my friend said it looked like a baby shower.) But honestly, this explanation didn't make much sense to me. The restaurant had many empty tables, and there were plenty of other servers. A restaurant should assign one server to the large group and still have another server properly handle the smaller tables. The lack of organization really showed. Another issue: our table filled up with dishes and wasn't cleared promptly. Because of that, when I was trying to put leftovers into a to-go box, I accidentally spilled the entire Stroganoff onto the floor. OMG. It was embarrassing, but at the same time it happened partly because the table was just too cluttered. Fortunately, another staff member quickly came over and cleaned it up. We moved to another table to enjoy our pies, but again, no one came by for a long time. Eventually, I had to walk to the counter myself to pay and hand them my card. The restaurant server was friendly, but the service felt very unorganized, slow, and frustrating. Being ignored for long stretches, having to keep going to the kitchen to find our server, and waiting endlessly just to check if we needed anything -- all of it made the experience much less enjoyable. read more

MC has a lot of good dishes, however their 365 days a year Thanksgiving dinner is the best. If you want Thanksgiving dinner anytime, this is just like homemade. I'm real picky and this meal gets 5 stars. Fresh roasted turkey, homemade cornbread, homemade mashed potatoes, homemade stuffing, handmade gravy, fresh veggies not canned, cranberry sauce...amazing! If you go to MC in summer their A/C is broke on the restaurant side so not comfortable. However, sit on the bar side of the restaurant it has full cool A/C. They offer plenty of parking adjacent to the restaurant in their open private lot. In addition to the pie, I also picked up oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. They are baked fresh daily, are larger than most and pretty delicious. At $1.24 each, they taste even better. There's a $5 off promo on all pies right now. As far as the service, I was a bit underwhelmed considering I was the only one ordering and the two at the pie counter were very focused on setting up the area than on the customer experience. My family and I have been coming here for the last 20 years. I met up with a friend yesterday for dinner and we figured this would be a great spot so we can catch up. I noticed the place inside looked dreary, worn out and shabby. When we sat down we noticed that there were little bugs flying near our table. At first we didn't think it was that bad. But before we new it, they were flying around our food and we were constantly trying to fan them away from our table. The dinner was pretty good, but it was hard to enjoy when we were worried they were going to land on our food. On our way out, I went to get cookies from the glass enclosure where they keep muffins, cookies etc. Unfortunately, the same bugs were flying inside where the baked goods were kept. We came on a Wednesday evening around 6:30 PM and our party of 4 was able to be seated right away. There was plenty of parking outside so no need to worry about that. I think there was a happy hour going on, so our appetizers were 50% off. - Fresh Avocado and Shrimp Stack (5/5): So fresh, so tasty. The serving size was the perfect amount, if not more! So worth it - Cheesy Spinach and Artichoke Dip (4/5): The first few bites were really good. However, after a while, I got sick of the flavor because it started smelling kind of funky but it's just because of the cheese. - Southwest Avocado + Shrimp (5/5): This salad was pretty good. We opted in for the grilled shrimp which was so flavorful. - Homestyle Beef Stroganoff (4.5/5): Stroganoff is always a hit or miss for me. I actually really liked the one I ordered here. The sauce was so creamy and the meat was tender and tasted delicious. I think I could go for a little bit less sour cream next time though. - Shrimp and Chicken Carbonara (4/5): This pasta dish was okay, nothing too crazy but also not bad. I think next time, I will order it without peas because I wasn't a fan of them in the dish. - Margarita Flight (5/5): Alcohol content was really good. The flights were large in size, which lasted us a while. My favorite was the mango margarita because it tasted like a mango mexican candy. - Banana Cream Pie (5/5): When I think banana cream pie, I think Marie Callenders. You can never ever go wrong with the pie here. It has the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess. The bananas were all fresh and everything else was perfect down to the little almond slices on top. This is also a good place to go to if you want something small while watching a sports game. We decided to stop by because we hadn't been to this location. The restaurant is really outdated. There's dust on furniture, water damage on the ceiling and plastic bags/open boxes in the dining room. The food is subpar. I ordered the chicken pot pie and the potato and cheese soup. The crust of the pot pie was good, but the filling didn't impress me. The coleslaw it came with was even worse. I had one bite and it tasted like it was spoiled. The chicken seemed frozen and the filling was pretty salty. The soup was okay. The lemon meringue pie was okay. A lot of the other pies were sold out so we didn't have many choices. Came to Marie Callender's today for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was. I really enjoyed the corn bread and honey butter and my mini chicken pot pie deal. The mini chicken pot pie deal comes with 1 mini pot pie, a side salad of your choice (it was huge!) and your choice of a slice of pie. It was the perfect amount of food and a great price at $17.99. I got the banana cream pie at the end and it was also so creamy and good. The perfect amount of sweetness honestly. The service was great and we had no complaints. I went to Marie Callendar's with a couple of friends and we had a really enjoyable evening. We ordered the $49.00 Shareable Deal which included 1 Appetizer, 2 Entrees and 2 slices of Pie. We both chose the Turkey Club Croissant with Fried Green Beans as our appetizer and German Chocolate Pie and Chocolate Silk Pie for our desserts. The Fried Green Beans were done to perfection and the portion was ample. The Turkey Club Croissants had a generous portion of Sliced Turkey on a Soft Buttery Croissant with Bacon making this the perfect sandwich. The Fries that came on the side were excellent. Their German Chocolate Pie with milk chocolate custard, coconuts and almonds is my favorite pie and it was as good as ever. The Chocolate Silk pie is a close second favorite of mine with a delicious chocolate crust and perfectly balanced chocolate mousse filling. Our server was accurate, cheerful and checked-in on us frequently. This is one of my favorite Marie Callendar locations because it's nice and cozy without being overly dark. The inviting displays of Pies, Amazing Muffins (you have to take some home with you) and Cookies greet you as you enter the restaurant. Marie Callendar's has an extensive menu so you're bound to find a favorite for everyone in your party. I can't wait to eat there again! read more

We stopped by for a late dinner and enjoyed the nice and quiet ambiance. We arrived close to 7pm and there was no wait. We were greeted and seated right away and received friendly and attentive service the entire time. The waitress brought a kids menu coloring page and a very tasty cornbread and sweet butter for the table while we decided on what to order. This was perfectly timed and a nice little distraction and appetizer for my niece while we waited for her/our food to arrive. We ordered the turkey meal from the kids menu which thankfully arrived first. Everything in the dish tasted great and was a very nice and large portion. I loved how there were a variety of nice regular meal dishes and not just the typical kids menu items. My 5y.o. niece loved everything, even if she couldn't finish it. We ordered the chicken and shrimp pasta and the steak and shrimp entrées and those were nicely portioned as well and tasted great. For dessert we got the coconut cream, lemon and sour cream and the German chocolate pies which were all delicious! But the lemon and sour cream was surprisingly good and enjoyed it better than the regular lemon merengue pie. It's always a nice experience especially with a free and delicious birthday pie slice in the end (sign up and mention it). Definitely recommend if you're looking for something low key with a vintage restaurant feel. P.S. They do have a separate area with bar seating and a tv for watching sports. I love Marie Callender's. I've been going since I was a kid. It's nice that Marie is family oriented and always a pleasant experience. Service is always good. Not great but good. Servers seem to have big stations and have lots to do. The food is pretty consistent. Always hot and good. Always hits the spot. My mother in law wanted a roasted turkey dinner so we had our family dinner here on a Friday evening. They were able to seat our party of 7 quickly. We opted for the quieter side opposite the bar and dining room with the TVs. The bar looked full & lively when I passed by, even saw a few people standing. The other side is quieter even though there were quite a few people dining early at 6p. Our server came quickly and we were able to give our orders right away. Our food came quickly and the portions were a good size. The turkey dinner, chicken & broccoli fettuccine and vegetable soup, salad, and Quiche were all filling and delicious. For dessert I had the strawberry cheesecake that I love, love getting it for years and my friend got cheesecake she loves it. We drank Margaritas and didn't know they were HuGE I couldn't finish it. The service was wonderful the guy told us that he has been working there for over 30 years. He was a sweetheart. Went there for pie and coffee with family. Had not been here in quite some time (years) to this location. I'll start with the service, it was satisfactory. We were seated in the bar area of which I recall many decades ago I used to hang out there for happy hour and the schooner beers good memories. I had just come from back east cape cod martha's vineyard , and had key lime pie in a couple of restaurants out there fell in love with it. I decided to try the key line pie at marie calendars. To begin , the pie came out with not a lime on top of it , but an actual lemon red flag! The pie filling had a light tint green to it. Somewhat of a graham cracker looking crust. I tasted it and the first thing I was hoping I would taste is a lime tangy did not experience that at all.It was barely even tangy and tart! I sent it back and I asked to try the pie ala mode apple pie with vanilla ice cream. That came out to me and I wish I would have taken a picture of that apple pie, what they call apple pie, it was a complete wreck. It was basically apple jam on some kind of bottom crust, no crust on top at all. It was disgusting! I chose to bite my tongue, I did not want to cause any type of commotion with my family and grandson there.I just wanted a nice peaceful family time. No confrontation. That's why I decided to voice my opinion on this Yelp review. My family agreed that their pies we're also subpar , and not what they had been use to in the past!
