So....on my way back from the Empire State and I decided to stop in the City of Brotherly Love for you guessed it a Cheesesteak!!! I opted to step outside of my normal spots and head to Marino Bros Cheesesteak's. #Mistake The service is good, but the food is overpriced, undersized and mediocre. Not to mention anyone (or maybe anyone that orders it) with a BBQ Cheesesteak on their menu should have a back and front slap. What?!?! So overall the fires were a step below "just okay" and the cheesesteak was mediocre at best and cost $12.95 before tax. You can walk another 8 minutes and have great cheesesteak! Incredibly overpriced, it was $55 for 2 cheese steaks, 1 large fry, 2 drinks, and a tip. Despite being super overpriced, it was a good-sized portion, in a beautiful building, made fast, had an amazing soft roll, and it was absolutely the BEST cheesesteak of my entire life, hands down without question. Located in the Bourse Food Hall, I only wish I lived closer and I'd become a regular here. After trying a couple other cheese steaks around Philadelphia, I have to say this was my favorite. The way they prepare the bun and the provolone cheese they use is mild (not too sharp I mean), and I really liked that. There are larger portioned cheese steaks out there, but really this one had everything you need...it was delicious. If you've been in the food hall before the remodel, you may be surprised how it changed. It is now all on one level and has a more modern color palette. The pros: Served hot, they have chicken and real not canned mushrooms, when your ask and pay for extra cheese they actually do it and the service was top notch. Couldn't be nicer people! Location is good but many haven't made it in the market, sad. The not as great part: The bread was soft but chewy, couldn't tear it apart, a little rubbery like. It's definitely a tourist trap and I got trapped. Signs everywhere saying "make it a combo" and no price. Well, making it a combo is just adding fries and a drink. It was okay food. Fries were cooked well, but the sandwich was not even close to the best cheesesteak sandwich I've ever had, and I've never had another one in Philly. Also, I asked for the original. He made and charged me for the one with everything. It just seemed like a shady business. For 5 of us, it was right at $125, which I think is nuts for a sandwich meal. I should have asked about the fries and drink when he told me the price. I should have canceled them and just gotten sandwiches, but the sandwiches really weren't that good. Visiting from Palm Springs Ca with our school group- stopped here for the much anticipated "Philly Cheesesteak " IN PHILLY. It was just a food court, but it did not disappoint! Everybody was happy with their order. All of the food was hot and fresh. I highly recommend the mozzarella sticks and the buffalo cheesesteak! I ordered mozzarella sticks and a medium fountain lemonade for my 5 year old son. My son knocked over the lemonade before taking his first sip and the drink was lost. I went back to the counter and asked if they would refill the lemonade because of what happened. I was told that they do not do refills and that I'd have to speak to the owner or manager. When I relayed the situation to the owner / manager, he said no, I won't refill the drink "but I'll sell you a new one." This is extremely poor customer service especially when a child is involved. .The mozzarella sticks were also undercooked and not melted. The restaurant is very overpriced. $8.59 for 5 mozzarella sticks with tax and $3.73 with tax for a medium fountain drink with no refills. This afternoon, while in the city of Brotherly Love, Independence Mall, I happened to experience the famous "Marino Bros., Cheese-steaks". Important to mention...I am a cheese-steak aficionado. When I saw a cheese-steak from Marino-Bros., I knew I had to have one. It looked presentable, meaty and delicious. I ordered the Cheese-Wiz Steak and my brother in law ordered the Chicken Cheese Steak. They were both very good !! The only draw back that I would say I experienced was the bread; it was chewy and seemed to drown out the meat. I initially thought that I was being too critical but when I saw a couple of kids eating the cheese steaks and having to WORK with the bread, I thought maybe I wasn't being too critical. Cheesesteaks are decent but the cashier is just extremely rude for no reason. I asked him if they could cut my sandwich into 3. Odd request I know but I had a reason to ask for it. It's a extra cut.. no biggie right? He told me they can't do that because they have to wrap it and immediately got annoyed and started giving attitude. Swiped my card and then threw my debit card on the counter and then asked me what I'm gonna do about him throwing my card on the counter. I didn't take that very well and immediately asked for a refund because I will not be disrespected for no reason. He then opted to give me a cash refund instead and slammed the money in my hand. Once again, I didn't take kindly to this and words were exchanged. I have never written a review on here in my life but this guys behavior called for it. Was very surprised to find a place like this in the market. Reading some reviews they said they were "rude". Well I've been to Philly cheesesteak places all over. If they ain't a little gruff, it ain't a real cheesesteak. This steak was delicious. Seasoned and chopped very nicely. Not fatty at all. One of the best/if not the best place to eat in The Bourse. My favorite is the BBQ Cheesesteak with no cheese, bacon, and buffalo sauce. They have amazing French fries and onion rings. The staff is very friendly and do everything to have your order be the best it can. The gentleman with the orange beanie and the tattoo on his head is super friendly. He may be the owner, really great guy. If I had to say one flaw, it's the bottled drink selection. Other than that. Everything is perfect. read more

With the new opening of the artisan food hall at the Bourse in Philly's historic district, this has been one of my go to spots for lunch everyday. The owners also run the comfort food/sandwich joint across the other side of the food court- Rusticca. They do things like Chicken parm, gobblers, sides of Mac n cheese and baked beans. Marino's is pretty much the best cheesesteak in the old city/independence park/East market district now, beating out the decent Sonny's and the historic mainstay Campos. I have no real problem with either, but Marino's has slightly better, more quality meat, great rolls and good staff. Both this and rusticca are both worth checking out. read more
