we had dinner there yesterday (Friday the 26th) and it was super. got there before the dinner rush and were seated right away. we love all the family photos on the wall and the history that is included in the menu. Marie was our server and she was an absolute delight! we discovered that she is also the baker for their super delicious deserts. dinner included a rich minestrone soup, garlic bread, and salad with a yummy creamy italian dressing. the only sadness was that they do not have gnocci on the menu. i had the canneloni and my wife had the chicken picata. both were so delicious and we were able to take home a little of each to be enjoyed at a later time. the deserts were so delicious and it was neat to hear Marie talk about her learning to bake from the aunt who had been there since the restauraunt opened. this place is a Gem in the crown that is downtown Bellflower and we will be back. read more

I grew up in Bellflower in the 70s and 80s. At that time Marino's was the only nice place to eat on Bellflower Bl. Shops were closing and the downtown was in decline. Fast forward to today and things are much better. The one constant is Marino's is still a nice place to eat. My understanding is they changed ownership in the past couple years. You would not be able to tell. The service is still outstanding as is the food. The new owners have not missed a beat. Recently we celebrated my 93 year old father in law's second retirement. We had a group of 9 which the staff dealt with really well. I had the pasta with artichoke hearts. I should order something else sometime, but it is so good. That dish has been consistent for the 40+ years I have eaten here. So has everything else. read more

As a teenager, I love that they have garlic bread that tastes exactly the same as the Busy Bee restaurant in Ventura, California, even though the garlic bread here is shaped differently than the one from Busy Bee. What really surprised me is how Marino's manages to get that same warm, buttery, nostalgic flavor that I was loving the garlic bread that they used to sold in Ralph's on Wardlow Rd Long Beach, California in the 2011, but still make it feel like their own thing. It's honestly kind of cool that a place in Bellflower can remind me so much of a restaurant all the way in Ventura, especially since I wasn't expecting that at all when I first tried it. On top of that, the rest of the food matches the same level of comfort and quality. Every dish feels like it was made with actual care, and as someone who's still figuring out what my favorite Italian foods even are, it's fun to try things here because everything ends up tasting way better than I expect. The customer service was amazing, the chef gave me a history of the restaurant and even gave my party water lemon while we wait which was nice. The food I give it a 4/5. We went to Marinos with some friends last night. When we walked in, we were greeted by the server who took our names down. While they were busy, and the wait was a while; the server offered us water and any drinks upon entry. The inside of the restaurant, gives you a traditional vibe. There's plenty of booths that are not overly crowded. The food itself was just your typical Italian food, Not anything noteworthy. We ordered the Chicken primavera. The food itself came with bread, soup, and salad which was nice considering we were hungry. The soup was flavorful and I lauded noodles and vegetables. The salad, was good, I really enjoyed their dressing. The chicken primavera was okay, I wish it had more flavor. The parking was difficult because they only offered one small parking lot. This is a blast from the past. The ambiance of this restaurant will take you back to the roaring 20s of the 1900. We were greeted pleasantly by Mari who turned out to be our server as well. She allowed us to choose our booth. My wife and I decided to share the lasagna entrée and our daughter, who we were selling her birthday with, ordered chicken piccata. Both entrées come with a Turin of soup and a salad. Also serve garlic bread toasted. We also ordered calamari that is served with red sauce. We all agreed that the food was delicious. The chicken piccata was seasoned with Irv and olive oil, and the chicken was tender. The lasagna was stuffed with ricotta, cheese and beef, the marinara sauce is a little bit on the sweet side. A friend was going on about how delicious this little Italian restaurant in Bellflower is, so I had to give it a try... "What a darling, elegant place" were my first thoughts when I entered. The long family history is proudly displayed in photos on the walls, as well as the menu. The decor is refined and homey at the same time. (I must admit that I was expecting something much more "tired"...what a pleasant surprise!! The service (Juan) was excellent! Entrees include garlic bread, minestrone soup and a green salad. I've been here three times and they are consistently, excellent. It's an old school restaurant that offers soup and salad with every entree. The parking is in the back or along the street. The interior is filled with old school items like an old sewing machine, an old dresser, etc. They have old school pictures on the walls. It's a very cool vibe. On my last visit, I got the Cannelloni and my friend got the Pasta with Artichoke Hearts. Note, they put a lot of mushrooms in the dishes that have them. So if you don't like mushrooms be sure to ask them to leave them out of the dish. Both our dishes were great, served up fresh and delicious. The portions are also very generous so you may have leftovers or come hungry. I've been too full to ever get dessert but I may have to try that out next time. read more

The restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. It was midweek so not a lot of diners yet but it was after lunch time. We were warmly greeted by our waitress who has been there like 30 years. She gave us a nice history of the restaurant while efficiently bringing us water and telling us about the daily specials. We chose the shrimp special and ravioli. Both were very tasty and presented well. We both had wine and the Chardonnay and Can were delicious. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the dishes. Not sure but I usually go to good ol Olive G for pasta and bread. I was able to try the lasagne, cheese ravioli in a white sauce, and a large "Neapolitan" supreme pizza. The lasagne was much better than anything I've tried that was frozen or from OG so was the ravioli and white sauce. The pizza was the reason why I'm giving it a 5 star rating however I like my pizza well cooked and would've loved to ask for it a little more crispy if that is possible will try it next time. We spent 5 years living in Central New York in a community with a strong Italian heritage and many amazing Italian restaurants. We've been disappointed so many times since moving back home to Califorina, until we found Marino's. The food is fabulous and both made and served the traditional way. Our regular waitstaff are Marie and Shawn, who you would swear were party of the family that owns the business by the pride they take in caring for their customers. Even on a busy night they check on us regularly and make sure we get anything we need quickly. Came here for the first time for a family celebration. It is such a cute place. From the leaded glass front door to the antiques inside. It manages to have a classic hole in the wall Italian look (think Little Italy in North Beach SF or Manhattan) but not feel old or dusty inside. It's also quite spacious, with two dinings room and a mix of tables and booths. Admittedly, we are an annoying group. Nine people total, including a 2 month old and a 2 year old, 8 year old, and two cranky elders. They set up a table for us in the back corner and even brought us two high chairs--and then changed them out for a booster and regular chair when we asked to swap. Our waitress was great. Super on top of everything. And another guy was constantly refilling water, drinks, taking plates away. It wasn't busy, so maybe that's why, but we haven't had service this efficient for a large party in a long time. The food was also good! They serve complimentary bread, soup, and salad before the meal. All of them were pretty tasty. The stand out of the meal was pizza! The neapolitan (thin crust) pizza was excellent.
