What makes it more disappointing is that I specifically came in during a time when it wasn't busy, so there wasn't much reason for the lack of attentiveness. When you're spending at least $100 for two people, the service should match the quality of the food. While the flavors are unforgettable, the customer service and timing need serious improvement. So this was a great experience. My daughter took my hubby and I here after telling us about it for months. We went on a Saturday at 11:00 am. It was just starting to get crowded. When we sat, we ordered pretty cocktails (smokey something) and a gorgeous michelada with prawns. The drinks were so good. They give you complimentary soup in a small cup which was perfect after coming in from the cold. The soup was delicious. Then we ordered battered fish tacos, La Torre (the tower of seafood), and a platter of seafood. Everything was delicious and fresh and flavorful. The tacos were my favorite. There was also a really sweet young lady who took our picture and sold us a beautiful framed photo. The service was so friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly. Amazing food. That's all this review really needs. Crazy, huh?! You can find this amazing taco spot in the San Jose area. You may question the actual area when you get there, but get over yourself and grab some of these perfectly made street tacos. They made the way street tacos are intended. The meat is well marinated and seasoned, perfectly grilled, and the portions are incredibly generous. I tried the Carnitas, the pollo, and the Carne Asada, and I'm here to say that it's damn delicious! I think my favorite thing outside of the fact that I wanted to eat more even after I was full, as that, I love the side dish that they provide so that you can load up your tacos with fresh onions, cilantro, lime, and a variety of salsas that they have . I heard lots of good things about the seafood here so my friend and I decided to stop by because we were craving seafood. You get a complimentary tostada, a soup, and crackers. Food: 10/10 I have never seen a restaurant with SO many ceviche options before! We were torn between which one to order but we opted for the ceviche Camaron. We also got the empanadas de Camaron and tacos Marlin. Our favorite was the empanadas de Camaron! We almost burnt our hands and mouth because the cheese was melting and it was hot but it was worth it because it tasted AMAZING! The Marlin tacos were a bit salty for our liking. The ceviche was very flavorful and fresh tasting and it paired well with the tostada. There were lots of unique ceviche options here! Service: 10/10 The workers are very friendly and encouraged us to get the weekday special on a Miche Monday, but we will come back next time for it! Ambiance: 10/10 The restaurant is nice and decorated with outdoor seating and indoor seating. There's street parking near the restaurant. I love coming to this place whenever I'm craving Mariscos, I got their new ceviche la guerita, it may seem like your typical ceviche cooked in lime juice, but this one has chile chiltepi which gave it a different taste and that shaved jicama was top tier. Tacos capeados were filled with plumped battered shrimped and loaded with melty cheese just how I like it. The fish was huge couldn't even finish the whole thing, a hefty plate to fill you up if you're extra hungry. Of course the micheladas were refreshing and always on point especially with those shrimp. This place does tend to get super busy, but it's well worth it, service is amazing and if you want to celebrate your birthday here they'll put on a show for you! If you love micheladas like I do, come during the week they have specials, the only bad thing is the specials don't apply during a holiday. read more

I want to start by saying my family and I really enjoy this restaurant. We come here often for lunch, we love the food, and this is not to speak on the entire business or management this is just about our specific experience. We came Saturday evening for my grandmother's birthday as a party of 11. We understood it would be busy and were patient the entire time. However, the server we had (we didn't get her name) was not attentive and not very friendly from the beginning. She seemed annoyed or overwhelmed. We tried to be understanding of that, but there was little interaction or basic courtesy throughout the meal. All of our orders were initially placed on one tab. There was no clarification or question at the beginning about whether we wanted separate checks. At the end of the meal, we realized it would be easier to split based on what each person ordered, so we asked at that time. We understand that this can be more difficult to manage, especially with a large party, but it was the way she responded that made the situation frustrating. When I asked about splitting the check accordingly, she responded in a dismissive way and said we should have mentioned it earlier, then walked away. It felt unprofessional and unnecessary. Because we were a large party, gratuity was already included, and we accepted that. Due to the service, we did not add anything additional on our card. Another tab in our group paid by card but chose to leave a cash tip separately. However, when we later reviewed our credit card statement, we noticed the total had increased about $40 , despite us clearly writing in $0 for any additional tip at the time of payment. My mother called the restaurant and spoke with a manager who was helpful, apologized, and told her to come in to receive the difference. When she arrived, that manager was not there, but someone else was. He stated they were unsure what happened and provided the amount back in cash. Additionally, the restaurant offered a complimentary meal. However, when my mom went to pick up the food, the same server involved in the situation brought it out without acknowledging or addressing the situation at all. While we appreciate that an effort was made to correct the issue, the lack of clarity, the way it was handled, and the overall service experience still leave serious concerns. Adding an additional amount after the fact that was not authorized is not okay. This is a matter of trust and accuracy when handling payments. We have supported this restaurant for a long time, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses both service and billing practices moving forward. read more

Fresh and tasty Crunchy tortilla and seafood soup appetizer complimentary - good. Fresh 32 oz Negra Modelo $13 - on tap, what you'd expect Mango Margarita $13 - everyone loved this Went on a Sunday at dinner time and they were really busy. Waited about 25 minutes. Always a good sign when 90% of the customers were Mexican. Lol. The place is huge with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was great from the receptionist to the waiter. Parking is not too difficult if you are willing to walk a block or 2. Huge menu. Prices are actually pretty reasonable considering the large portions and that it's mostly seafood. Today I went to costa alegre with my dogs IN A DOG FRIENDLY RESTAURANT and 5 min after the "manager" comes to told me if one of my dogs is going to still barking, my baby barks a few times, even the waitress was so nice and bring water to them. I love this restaurant! I find it funny that my family and I are the only Asians there whenever we visit--but we're always treated like family! I definitely get my seafood fix while I'm there.
