Since Market 65 made the Top 100 list, I figured it was worth the trip. And, there's nothing better than visiting with fellow Yelpers! So posted a UYE, and Tada! Lunch with my niece and Deirdre G. I don't work downtown, thus had to find parking. Luckily, I was able to find a free close-by meter (since it was a national holiday). Their patio space is pretty freaking incredible here! Lots of shading trees. Set back off the main sidewalk (great for people watching, as State St. gets busy during the lunch hour). Unfortunately, it was -2 degrees outside, so that option was rendered useless. The inside space is airy and cheery. Lots of white and lime green. Bright chandelier lighting. Raw wood tables. Even a full bar lining the big window looking outside. Nice open front counter. Love the ordering process! You tell the first worker what you want, they right it down and pass on to the production line. Scoot on down, watch as they put all the toppings in the big bowl of lettuce. Dump out contents on counter cutting board, they chop everything down to a more manageable bite size (thought this was very nifty), and toss! Lastly, shake dressing and toss again, then serve in a bowl. Lots of salad/sandwich options: Both proteins and toppings were abound!! Also tons of dressings to top of your selection. I went with one of their Signatures, the Loki Falls: salmon, asparagus, roasted corn (they cut it right off the roasted cob!), and balsamic vinaigrette. Whatever you decide, your end product can be served via salad form or in a wrap; I went with the salad option. Great pick. Would have been totally rad if there was more salmon, but I won't complain. Love the corn. Red skin potatoes were bite-size, soft, flavorful. Oh, how I love roasted asparagus! The dressing was a perfect topper - not sour, hints of sweet; If they didn't make their own dressings, I'd be begging to know where to buy it. The location isn't the best for me, seeing as I don't work downtown. But, if I'm feeling like a salad, and want the fast-casual concept, this is a fantastic option! read more

Besides the expensive salads, I am giving Market 65 a 5/5 because their salads are so delicious! Everything they use for their salads are local (either from Ohio or Michigan for the most part). Due to the high priced salad (ranges from $6.75 to $10.50) I have eaten here 3 times in the 9 months I've worked in Columbus. The staff is always friendly and patient when trying to decide on a salad, and will help out if you are too mystified by their selection. The salads are also quite large! Do not expect to eat the whole thing in one sitting, so a tip would be to get it to go in order to save it for later. I usually get the Blackened Cobb salad with extra avocado and the regular Ranch dressing. Perfecto! If I could give Market 65 another star, I would. I can't say enough great things about this place! Let's start with their regular lunch game... To find a place downtown, making healthy/ responsible foods, with fully customizeable options (vegetarian/ vegan/ gf/ whatever flots your boat), quickly, and with a smile is not only RARE but virtually unheard of! You can make exactly the meal you want, or try one of their suggested combinations. Which, let's be honest, is probably exactly what you want. The food is always fresh, they're never skimpy on toppings, and the dressings are DIVINE. My personal recommendation is the Garlic Tahini sauce. Holy $^#& is that stuff good! This place is on the regular lunch rotation fo' LYFE! The other way that I have interacted with Market 65 is through their catering services. My nonprofit organization had a day-long retreat in an office inside the Capitol Square office building so this place was a natural choice. The pricing was very reasonable, they accommodated all of the dietary restrictions our staff had, and everyone RAVED about the food. It was an absolute hit! Anthony coordinated our group's meal and I will be forever grateful for his help. He even went above and beyond by recreating and sending me the receipt for our meal after I misplaced it in the shuffle of the busy day. Amazingly good, amazingly fresh salads and wraps. Love that they use local foods and work with local food vendors. Parking is a challenge and the lines can be a little long during the peak lunch hour (but this is downtown and that's to be expected). If you go during the dinner hour, you can get a fountain drink free with your purchase (at least it was when I visited). All I can say is I wish there were more of Market 65 in Columbus. I would be a frequent visitor. As I am not in the downtown area during the day, I am unable to patronize as much as I would like. Market 65 is another locally owned business. They have a strategic focus of using Ohio grown products. It's located in Capitol Square in downtown Columbus. Their menu specializes in fresh salads and wraps. Okay - really?!?! Pricey? I totally disagree. Create it your own way for $6.95 or choose from one of a dozen entrée salads they suggest. Entrée salads range from $6.75 to $10.50. The prices are comparable to other restaurants. Portions are generously sized. Market 65 is not open on the weekends and only until 7:30 in the evenings. You'll have to find a parking spot at one of the local garage or parking lots. There is available outdoor patio seating for nice weather or get your food to go and walk over to Columbus Commons. Don't get me wrong! Inside booths are equally comfortable and nice. Lunch times can be peak times. So, if you are in the neighborhood, looking for something healthy and Ohio grown, check Market 65 out. read more

Can you get meat sweats while eating a vegan salad? This was my literal thought after grabbing a salad from Market 65. Visited M65 just after it opened, but have not managed to find my way back again until now. Everything I remembered from that first visit is still in play - inviting space, clear signage, friendly staff, cool concept and great, locally-sourced, healthy food. A large menu board greets you as you walk in. M65 offers chopped salads and wraps, either make your own or by choosing one of their mixes. Their ingredient sources are listed, and there is a great variety of just about everything - a literal wall of lettuces sits behind the front counter. Once you've made your choice, they'll move it down the line, adding veggies and chopping it all together, then adding protein and their house-made dressings. The folks behind the counter are friendly and are up to talk while they make your food the way you want it. (Pro tip: Let them dress your salad rather than getting it on the side - you will be so happy you did. Trust people who run a healthy salad shop to get it right!) Oh, and you'll get your money's worth. I think my green machine salad (vegan, with edamame, chickpeas and tahini dressing) had an entire bag of spinach in it. It was hard to finish - I actually had to graze the last third of it over the course of an hour or so. If you need more than a salad or wrap, M65 has chips, sweets from Pattycake and smoothies and bars from Bubbles in North Market. They also have soup, if you need something warm. If you're looking to avoid that after-lunch drag, hit Market 65. You'll eat and feel great. read more

Salads and wrap shop across the street from the State House. Juicy rumors from the lobbyists sitting next to you are included free of charge. Market 65 is not cheap, but it is delicious. They have an interesting combination of flavors on the menu, but you can customize anything that you would like. You go down the line after you order and give your special instructions to the counter person who actually says hello to you and seems excited by the flavors that you choose. The best part of ordering your salad is that they chop it to order- with or without dressing. A perfect mixture of flavors throughout the rather large salad. I ordered a blackened chicken salad with avocado, peppers, blue cheese, bacon, asparagus and balsamic vinaigrette. I know that sounds odd, but deliciousness knows no bounds. If you find yourself in downtown Columbus, check this place out but be ready for a long line to order and get a table if you go during the week for lunch. read more

Fresh, local ingredients. If I could eat here multiple times a week I would. Although all of the signatures sounded delicious, I couldn't commit to any particular one before it was my turn in line so I decided to create my own wrap. By going this route I was able to pick a green base, 4 produce, and a cheese for $6.95. I went with baby spinach, banana peppers, broccoli, red onion, tomato, muenster, added mushroom for $1 extra and dressed it with lemon juice. Wrap heaven. I was with a few co-workers who got various signature salads and none were displeased with their meal. Market 65 adopted the Chipotle/Subway model that moves the customer down a line, allowing them to view and make alterations to their food as it is prepared. Staff extremely friendly and address you by name the entire experience. Open space and modern decor that gives off a positive and inviting vibe. Plentiful seating both indoors/outdoors. I have never had a bad experience at Market 65, and yesterday was no different. Every single person who assists you is incredibly and genuinely friendly. You can watch the food being prepared in front of you. The ingredients are extremely high-quality and typically Ohio grown. All of the dressings (more than a dozen) are made in-house. Tips: Regardless of whether you're eating inside or on the large shady patio outside, ask for your salad to be put in a to-go container. The portions are HUGE and you can easily fill up on half of it and take the rest for dinner or next day's lunch. I love this place for a variety of reasons. 1. Right in the office building I work in. 2. Fresh food that is incredibly, incredibly tasty. 3. The staff is really nice to look at. (and they're friendly as well!) My only compliant is it's a little pricey, but if you forego the meat and stick with making your own salad it's great for the price. ($6.75 I think). I was loving this place and eating there once or twice a week over the summer of 2012. It's a long walk from where I work downtown and you pay a premium price for the fresh local ingredients, but it was worth it. However, the last few times I ate there, my takeout salad bowl was only 75% full. In the past, it was filled to the top. So, I have switched to other closer options. Fresh, healthy, creative,and oh-so-simple, Market 65 get's my dietitian's seal of approval. The atmosphere is bright and lively, if a little noisy. They have a huge outdoor seating area under trees and by a fountain, which is pure bliss on a summer day. It would be hard to get bored with all of the fresh choices. My only complaint would be that the portions of the toppings seem to differ based on what you get. I guess that makes sense, as I'm sure asparagus is more expensive than carrots, but I was a little surprised at the skimpiness of some of the toppings--$3 for like, 4 shrimp is kind of stingy. Anyway, if you love food, the amazing variety can be downright overwhelming! While my combo was delicious, I had a bad case of buyer's remorse looking at everyone else's equally tempting concoctions. I'll just have to come back until I've tried them all! So, with 5 different choices for lettuce, 30 veggie toppings, 5 cheeses, 8 different proteins, and 20 different dressings, that's 120,000 different choices...that math is probably wrong...but that is not the point. I love this 'relatively' new concept of chopped salad places. This place has everything you would want and more. You walk in and a salad chef takes your order and builds your salad, chops it and serves it. They literally have any option you could possibly want on a salad - the only problem is not creating a $20 salad with all the possible combinations. For perspective, I always go overboard here and I typically end up around $12-14/salad. That being said, it definitely fills me up. The oddity about this place, is that it also has, what looks like, a wine bar and lounge. Surprisingly, I have seen people hanging out here after work. Fresh salads are the perfect lunch and this place does not disappoint. Almost all of their ingredients are from local farms. Staff always friendly. My favorite salad is the blackened chicken cobb salad minus onions with roasted corn and chick peas added. They also carry local products such as delicious bottled sweet tea, brownies and other baked goods. A little pricey to eat for lunch on a regular basis, however, everything can be made to order, all organic, fresh and tasty! I'm a regular! After a few visits, I feel like I can write a fair review. I've dined both in and out. As others have said, the place celebrates fresh, local and organic food. Usually the experience has been his, but it's gone downhill fit me due to inconsistency. I was pretty disgusted at today's visit. The guy making my salad looked unwashed. Sorry, but when you work in the food service industry, you need to look clean and that includes your nails. I was ABSOLUTELY RIPPED OFF on my drink order. I ordered iced tea which came out of the container HOT (should be room temperature so it doesn't immediately melt the ice). The dusty ice machine barely made any ice and I tried 2 fountain drinks which came out clear--so, no soda. Ridiculous. Your drink machine needs to work, period, or YOU DON'T SELL DRINKS. That's a dishonest business practice. Also, gross, annoying gnats kept flying around the restaurant. There are appropriate pest control solutions for this! On to the food ... Typically, I get a fresh, tasty salad. Today, I was apparently batting 1000 because my Romaine lettuce was a tad yellow. Another reviewer noted the huge, almost inedible chunks of raw carrot--it's true. Too big and not pleasant to munch on. The "blackened" chicken had zero black to it. More like par boiled chicken parts. Nasty. Clearly there's been a quality fall-off, which is a shame because this isn't an inexpensive spot. I don't think I'll go back, sadly. read more

I've been here maybe 10 times. At first, it was really, really, great. The salads were perfectly chopped and so flavorful. The Cobb salad was amazing. Two times ago we went and my salad didn't seem as fresh. Last night we went and there were fruit flies everywhere. I mean everywhere. Exactly what downtown needed! Fresh food with a purpose. All of Market 65's meat and cheeses are sourced from Ohio farmers as well as some of the produce, when it's in season. I had the pleasure of volunteering at The Ronald McDonald House last Monday. The dinner ( always supplied by generous community members or local businesses) was prepared and served by Market65 and it's sister restaurant Veranico. I was blown away by the wrap bar that they presented for our families! The chicken (Gerber only!) was melt in your mouth, the guacamole was fresh, beautiful, and amazing, the veggies all locally grown or sourced, and a choice of wraps ( I chose whole wheat). You could finish with a fresh salsa but I chose a flavored mayo (?) based dressing that set the flavors in the wrap off to perfection!Both establishments proved healthy food can be a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. Why didn't I think of this? A huge salad bar in the middle of a big downtown lunch crowd. I mean, honestly, how brilliant is this idea? The salads are huge, ingredients local and fresh, staff can be a bit slow on the uptake sometimes but always friendly, portions are huge (but the prices are a bit much, but it looks like plenty of people are more than willing to pay). My coworkers and I stopped by Market 65 before catching a performance at the Ohio Theatre. It is practically next door and is a great option for a per-show meal. Market 65 offers salads and wraps of all different varieties. You can even create your own if you don't find something on the main menu to suit your needs. The gentleman at the counter was very helpful. We were there from out of town and he offered us lots of recommendations. I opted for the Blackened Chicken Cobb wrap. If I had it to do over again I think I would have gotten the salad version, but it was delicious. The salads are HUGE. They also use local ingredients which is great. There's also a great little bar area with craft beer and wine. All and all a great experience. If I lived in Columbus I could see frequenting here quite often. read more

I can't think of much to add to contribute to all of the stellar reviews for this place! I finally had a chance to try it the other day for lunch, and it lived up to the hype. The line moves quickly, and the different combinations of items here are endless! To be safe, I picked one of the in-house signature combos - the 'Pacific', which had seared tofu, pineapple, edamame, and sweet sesame ginger dressing. Some of my fave things! I didn't care for the dressing as much as I thought I would (I'm a ginger-loving ginger) as it tasted too strongly of sesame oil. Perhaps the dressing wasn't shaken/mixed well prior to pouring. I will definitely try the 'Harvest' next time. It's around $9 for a wrap; a little steep for what I typically would spend on lunch, but one has to consider the local and fresh ingredients. We arrived for our first visit here, on a Friday about 5pm. We ate here because of the plant based / vegan options. There was no line, so we got waited on quickly, but it was a little confusing about where to pay. A few people after us got their food before us; the guy who took our order said he had forgotten to give it to the guy making our salads. Not like they were busy either. Our salads were good, and we enjoyed the fact that we could take them outside to eat under the trees on the nice patio out front.
