Here's the top 10 things I like most about Market 65 (in no particular order): 1. Close to my workplace - one of the best lunch options downtown. 2. Local ingredients when possible - they even list their sources! 3. Daily specials - but you can always customize your salad, and the regular standbys are delish, too. 4. The Biker Bars - a granola bar/ cookie hybrid near the cash registers. Goes well with coffee 5. Healthy - the variety of ingredients can accommodate anyone's dietary needs. 6. Really friendly staff - they will usually chitchat a little bit. 7. Really attractive staff - seriously, everyone who works here is hot. 8. Wrap option - when you'd rather avoid feeling like a rabbit, you can get any salad as a wrap for the same price. The volume of stuffins in the wrap is not the SAME as the salad (smaller), but it's still quite hefty. 9. This review is to be considered preliminary, as this is the opening day for Market 65. Read it in that light. I found myself at Market 65 today by sheer accident. I stepped outside for a cigarette and, seeing the old San Francisco Oven location finally reopened as a local, health-focused "fast food" shop, I decided that I would combat the oppressive grayness of this foul Monday afternoon with something both leafy and edible. I was not disappointed, which is an unusual sensation to feel so close to the Ohio Statehouse. Your salad can be ordered in a bowl or, inexplicably, wrapped in a thin tortilla, the latter preparation as inscrutable as it is unusual. Obviously, I opted for the bowl. For eight bucks, I got a Tuscan Orzo salad, which included grilled chicken breast, fresh greens, Parmesan crisps, and a handful of veggies. Everything appeared fresh and delectable, and as I wound my way around the prep counter behind which the object of my hunger was being assembled, I grew increasingly ravenous. Tucked back in the quiet solitude of my office, I consumed my salad at a furious pace, taking only enough time to savor the freshness of the ingredients and the fine mix of flavors: seared chicken chunks hot off the grill blended with cool pesto dressing and a large hunk of tomato, for example. My hunger was slaked; my mood was improved; also, I got to speak to people who didn't hate me (try conducting surveys for a living sometime), which is always a bonus. Market 65 is a fantastic addition to the downtown dining scene, especially on this side of the Statehouse. In wintertime, summoning the fortitude to trek "all the way" to TipTop, Si Senor, or El Arepazo requires more calories than the ensuing meal will replenish, the delightful food being but one piece in a devil's bargain. My bleak Monday was brightened by the verdant offerings of Market 65, to which I shall surely return. Oh goodness- this place is supposed to have fresh salad and some toppings. The lettuce (Romain) was hand shredded and in piece that ranged from small bits to old pieces that were an entire lettuce leaf. Avocado was brown and tasted funny. The entire thing was shaken all around the container, so the old brown super gross stuff was on every lettuce leaf and clung to every other topping. Every time I have been here (at least once or twice a year) I forget how disappointing it is. It's not worth it, especially since they could just not offer certain toppings if they are not available. Ok, it's great salad, made out of great ingredients. The portion is a good heft (although they are lacking a half size from what I can tell, which would be nice). The line moves quick during lunch. the service is friendly. Can't really ask for much more from a salad assembly line. My beef, or rather my shrimp with this place was that the pacific rim salad I got had a grand total of 4 pieces of shrimp (I watched the guy put them on). They were regular cocktail shrimp, not giant langostine or anything, I was a little disappointed for the $8.75 & tax price tag. Otherwise was a great experience, and generally delicious. One salad is an entire meal. Dee-licious!! The ingredients are top-grade. Try the wonderful grape tomatoes. Very flavorful. They know how to put just the right amount of dressing: Not so much that the salad is swimming, not too little so you think you're a beast, grazing in the woods. I haven't found a better salad place than this one yet. Some are similar but they nickle and dime you for each ingredient. I like Market65 the best. (Plus there is a Starbucks right nearby.) P.S. Probably the best salad I ever had. Pick one of their signature salads or pick and choose what you want and they toss it in front of you. I really liked that they chopped it up...so much easier to eat and get a little of all ingredients in each bite. They were a tad "too friendly" if that's possible. I like friendly but don't like idle chit chat about my weekend and what my plans are by someone I don't know. Nice outdoor space to eat under the trees. Tables were covered in bird droppings and left over food trash. Had to wipe it down with a napkin. Definitely worth going back! read more

I was in town for a conference and Market 65 is in the same complex as the Sheraton. I walked by and the writing on the window said "locally sourced", so I thought I would give it a try. It is a salad and wrap shop, so pretty simple - but fantastic! Lots of options to create your own, or some menu items. I had a harvest wrap: spinach, pears, cranberries, apple/pear, and goat cheese. It came with a caramel apple dressing and was soooo good. They also have lots of locally produced side items. I tried the strawberry basil lemonade and a vegan chocolate chip cookie. I have only once seen the epic lunch line in my several trips here. The staff is cute and friendly and the service is great. I like the fact that they use local produce and the selection of baked goods changes. The portions are HUGE and I think quite fitting for the price... I cannot finish a full salad myself. I came to Market 65 at around 2 on a friday, and there wasn't much of a line. I created my own wrap with arugula, black beans, potatoes, cheddar cheese, avocado, bacon, and grilled chicken with chipotle ranch dressing. The entire wrap was about the size of a burrito, and I knew I wasn't going to be able to finish it. It was delicious, and so filling that I ended up only eating half of my dinner later that evening. I travel to Columbus for work and normally eat at Market 65 Monday-Friday each. Since the staff has changed so has the service. I purchased a salad on today and literally received half a bowl and when I asked about it the young lady at the register did not acknowledge my question and asked if I wanted a bag since she had already swiped by credit card. Delicious, healthy, and local friendly. I just stumbled upon this place last night and it was amazing! The setting is wonderful, featuring a fountain and tall trees around the patio and last night we were serenaded with live music. It felt like a magical oasis in the middle of the city. And the food! They make all their own dressings and source the beautiful vegetables locally. I ordered the Pacific and was blown away by how good it was, I don't know what they did to that tofu but it was dynamite. The staff was wonderful and they also have a nice little bar if you seek a little libation which you can enjoy in the indoor and outdoor seating. Sure there are plenty of places to get a salad downtown, but these guys have it mastered. They are a well oiled, salad making machine. For $8-11, you can get a massive fresh salad made in the chipotle assembly line style. I went at noon on a Monday and the line was loooong, but to my surprise these guys are masters and the line was quick. Their whole foundation is using only locally farmed ingredients and they also it's farms they get their stock from. I got a kick ass chicken caesar wrap for $7.50. Totally impressed. There is a reason the line is out the door. Eat fresh and eat healthy. A great option for a healthy lunch. Will be back! read more

The price is a bit hefty to make this a weekly stop on my lunch break, but each time I splurge for a salad I enjoy the heck out of it. The variety of items you can put on your salad is great, personally I enjoy edamame and sunflower seeds and the house-made Italian dressing. I made my own salad, and added tofu. The tofu was delicious and full of flavor. I especially loved the 65 fire dressing. I had to admit ,it was very spicy, but so flavorful and addictive. My only complaint is about the service. The guys behind the counter seemed uninterested, and I felt very rushed. They had 2 minor slip-ups when it came to my order, and they could not have cared less. Overall, the food is delicious, but the ambiance and staff leave a lot to be desired. read more
