I like that they use a fire grill because it adds a good smoky flavor. I would recommend the crispy bowl. All of the ingredients were very fresh. This is the most pleasantly surprising combination of my two favorite things - Mediterranean food and Boba! As someone who grew up in an Armenian household where my mother cooked traditional meals, my expectations are high. Their salads looked exactly how my mom made them!! It's genuine and authentic, and I couldn't contain my excitement when I walked in. Also, they only charge $3.50 for Boba tea. It's incredibly hard to find great tea at reasonable prices, and the Green Apple Tea I got was SO good! I also ordered a falafel wrap, and it was so good I ended up finishing the entire thing (normally, I can only stomach a half portion in one meal). Visited Marketplace Grille for the first time this week. I had the Shirazi salad with chicken on top and my man had the Sirloin bowl. It was impressive how the chicken and sirloin were made to order! Everything smelled so good while it was cooking. It also tasted really delicious. The guy putting together our order messed it up a bit so basically my shirazi (mixed with tabouli since they didn't have enough shirazi) ended up in my man's bowl and my chicken was in some sort or tortilla/wrap thing when I thought it was supposed to be on the salad or at least on the side. It was probably our fault for coming in at 7p. They seemed to be closing up, counting the money, sanitizing they lobby, etc. Regardless, food tasted great; there just wasn't much there there. There was a lot of rice in my man's bowl so next time we might order 2 skewers of meat instead. There was a lot of rice so the extra rice last us a few extra meals after that. I didn't eat the tortilla/wrap that came with my chicken. It was a little pricey for a daily visit; a reason why we splurged on this treat after our workout. We work nearby so this would have been convenient to visit more often. I saw some sign near the register that the prices had gone up due to some security breech so I guess that explains it a bit. read more

Hands down the best mediterranean food I've ever had in my life, and I am a harsh critique. No other restaurant including Luna Grill has surpassed the excellent flavor and quality of Marketplace Grille. The chicken is moist from the inside out and has flavor, the beef has the taste and smell of a true beef, the grilled tomato is fresh and juicy as it can be, and the cucumber salad is crunchy, fresh, and well flavored with lemon, pepper, salt and oil. I always wondered what they do to the chicken to make it that moist and flavorful, but whatever they are doing, works. read more

One of my favorite lunch spots EVER. I was blessed to have all 3 locations near me or where I work. My go to order is the salmon crispy bowl. The baba ganoush is heavenly. The salmon is perfectly cooked and so juicy. I'm a big fan of herb rice in my bowls but white rice is always good too. I feel like it's such a good light and healthy meal. I love everything here. I used to come here quite a bit a few years ago since it was close to my job. A lot of my co-workers raved about this place. Since I left that company a couple of years ago. I was in the shopping center running errands and got hungry. So I thought why not... I walk in to look at the menu and notice it's really expensive. I said whatever I'm hungry, so I ordered the steak kabob. I wanted corn on the cob as my side they were out of corn, then I asked for a lemonade no lemonade. $18 later I come home to eat... Came here for lunch with my cousins! We had a party of 7 and decided to come by here for lunch. I got the lamb plate with herb rice and we also got an order of pita and hummus. There is minimal seating inside especially for a large party, so we opted to sit outside in the courtyard where there was plenty of seating. The food came out and we dug in. The lamb was good and tender and the rice was tasty. The tzatziki sauce was delicious and complemented the dish well. The pita and hummus was also good. The service was friendly and kind. I am sad to say, Marketplace Grille is no longer my favorite "go to" restauran in Mira Mesa/ Sorrento valley. I do not live in the area but have quite a few clients there. The bonus to the client visit was a stop at the Grille, I have used them for catering as well After 20 years of visiting, I wont be back. I always liked that it felt like a family run business. This last visit I merely asked the owner how business was and so was admittedly not having a great day; however her response was angry and aggressive and unsettling. I have plenty of places where I can get friendly service for less than $23 for a sandwich wrap. Her aggression temporarily changed the trajectory of my day. read more

The menu board is posted above the wall behind the cash register. And one thing I must really admit is the beautiful refrigerated display case, showcasing plenty of food platters & bowls. When you open the door to enter, the smell of that fire from the grill took hold of my soul & I was mesmerized by those leaping flames. My eyes were looking at the flames, the menu board, & the display. Then how lucky was I when the couple in front asked what each display was in front of them. The lady behind the counter was kind enough to point & describe to each & every one. I chose the Sirloin(ground sirloin skewer) bowl w/ herbed rice & there was complimentary grilled tomato halves. The lady asked if I'd like them, and why not? I seen the grill marks on the display. And a side of the Filet (beef) skewer. Everything that I ordered was delicious. I think there's some serious butter cooked with the herbed rice? And it's not a complaint I'm making. Because if it is, I haven't had buttered rice in so long- it brought back tons of memories. I'm not a fan of tabouleh salad- but, I'd even mix it in w/ the rice & beef. The seasonings were just right for each skewer. The portions were plenty. I couldn't even finish this whole bowl order. We've passed this shopping center many times on our way home but had never been inside to check any of the restaurants. Last night we changed that and went to this amazing Mediterranean hole-in-the-wall restaurant. As soon as you enter, the first smell is of the fresh burning mesquite charcoal and then you see a lit grill on the side of the counter. Wow!! Everyone there was super nice too. The lady at the counter explained us what all the different combo and entree options were and she was very friendly and welcoming. We chose the entree with Salmon skewer and while we were sitting, she also got us a complimentary plate of hummus and pita (amazinngg!!) We decided to share one entree with the salmon and it was a good quantity for the two of us but then I tasted the salmon and went wowww!! That was one heck of a grilled salmon - very nicely seasoned and grilled. Of course my wife decided to have the whole skewer to herself so I ordered another side of salmon with some crisp (I prefer it extra crispy) and omg this one was again just amazing (check the pic). Took my time enjoying it. Overall it was a great experience and I think this is one of the best greek foods I have had in a long time. Definitely try their salmon. We were so impressed by the quality of food that we felt compelled to tip them good for it. That says something!! read more

Lots of pickles in it too which is not what I'm used to when I get a wrap. I love pickles. I ate them up. Just usually get a sauce or something. I tried to eat the sirloin on its own but it was dry and flavorless. The wrap was something else too. I don't know what. It just wasn't my favorite. I should've gotten a kabob instead. I thought the food tasted very fresh, it was seasoned perfectly and everything complimented each other very well. Big plus is all items except the salads had the awesome grilled taste that we all love. The only reason for the one star deduction is I think they are a little pricey for lunch options in the food court or in general. At almost $15 for lunch combo I think it's on the high side. Mmmmmm the grilled smokey smells permeates through the parking lot. It's hard to give this place a try. Located in the Fresh & Easy plaza ( along with Starbucks, Burger King, Donut Touch , and more ...) , this joint is the combination of fresh and tasty. It's an upscaled Mediterranean place that has that fast food feel. You order at the counter, and you get a number. Keep in mind food takes approximately ten minutes. This is NOT fast food. But the quality of meat and quality and taste of the side items (rice and salad) really shows. They have wraps, bowls, and combo plates (skewers). Meats range from chicken, beef, lamb and filet mignon. Prices are more on the pricey side than the average side. At about 11 dollars average for a combo dish, it is worth it every now and then. Wraps are pretty filling but lacks sauce, and no dedicated sauces except their house mustard mayo type stuff if you ask for it. Also there is a bit too much wrap in the wrap (see pics), so that they had to wrap it a certain way. You can tell it's a large wrap. So many wraps in that sentence ! Definitely worth checking out but would appreciate dedicate sauces like most Mediterranean places have and would be great if the prices were lower :) read more

One of the litmus tests for good Mediterranean restaurant is the quality of Tabouli, and Marketplace grill did not disappoint at all! Next time, I plan to try the Waho (white fish) grilled, and served in a herb rice bowl with sheraz salad! Hummus was also fresh, and tasted home made...for those who are looking for really good grilled middle eastern/Mediterranean protein, with fresh hummus, Tabouli salad, but don't care about restaurant ambiance or decor, this is the right place. read more

We stopped in here for a quick dinner bite. I tried the crispy bowl with salmon. The bowl is like one of those tortilla salad bowls but Middle Eastern style. The entree is a crispy lavash bread bowl, filled with choice of Basmati rice, lettuce, shirazi salad, and babaghanoush as the menu suggests. They give you a choice of white rice or this other flavored rice. I definitely like the flavored one. I'm not a babaghanoush connoisseur but really liked it. The manager was nice and very helpful. I would definitely go back to try other menu items. Called them and was told they stopped giving it by default because they get thrown away. They will only include the it when requested. Kinda sad because I love bread.
