I'm a big fan of Marlows, which is why my family and I dine there so frequently - 8 times last month according to my credit card statement. Typically both the food and service are excellent, and consistently so. Unfortunately, I just had a terrible service experience. The short of it is, our appetizer arrived after some of us had already finished our entrees and plates had been cleared. So we essentially had our app for dessert. Our waiter barely acknowledged the mess up. Maybe I'm unreasonable, but his asking us if we still want the app doesn't really seem like a solution. Marlows is better than this. Or at least was. Marlowe right now is THE BEST TAVERN/BAR IN THE AREA!! Amazing Tavern. Both locations @Avalon & ROSWELL (King Rd. & Holcomb Bridge) are amazing. Service is professional, prices are great, menu of drafts, wines, drinks etc are large and varied.. Good price for draft beers too. Food is delicious, made in house, and their "Fried Hummus" or their "Hummus Platter" are the best for me. I LOVE THAT THEY OFFER A LOT OF HEALTHY MENU CHOICES!. Easy environment to talk, relax, and even have a calm and comfortable night out with friends or family. No smoking, and music is ambient enough to be just a background noise, providing easy conversation between you and your group without having to shout. To me, that's a HUGE plus... We have no bad things to say about this Bar. Just awesome new addition to places to go on the Alpharetta/ MILTON/ ROSWELL area! Love it here especially since they have a new manager Tara. She is the best. The service in the past had been slow and not friendly. She has made a point to greet us on the last few visits and truly it makes a huge difference. So convenient to the high school and typically not our first choice till recent. Who needs another gastropub? Roswell that's who. We are lucky that we now have this Marlow's and another one just a couple of miles up the road. I had never experienced Marlow's, but I had often heard colleagues speak of it favorably. So we got our opportunity to try it and it was very good. They opened in a space on Crossville that has seen its share of restaurants come and go. Let's hope they stick around a while. I have seen Marlow's sort of exploding with openings as of late, so I am assuming their model is a successful one. They had their Creole/Cajun theme going on during our visit, but we stayed with the conventional menu items. Since neither the wife nor I had ever experienced Marlow's we planned on trying a few more menu items and taking home what we could not finish. Gluttons, I know. We started with the shrimp and crab nacho plate. This dish was shrimp and crabmeat under melted cheese on a crispy tortilla chip. What's not to like? We also had the hummus, which was equally as delicious. On to our lunch; I had the Marlow's Melt. I happen to be a huge fan of patty melts, but not too many places have them on the menu. I usually settle for bowling ally patty melts which are mostly just meh. Well, this one was executed perfectly. Perfectly beefy, perfectly cheesy, perfectly oniony, and perfectly melty. Perfect! The wife had the Cuban. Oh my. This was a huge sandwich loaded with perfectly cooked roast pork. She could not finish it. I had planned to finish that sandwich the next day or so, but alas, she beat me to it! Needless to mention, we had absolutely no room left for anything sweet and, in fact, it was pure nappy time after eating. Good thing we live just up the street. We came here the other night for my birthday. This was probably our 5th visit to this location. The food is always so freaking good and the service is spot on every single time. We are always promptly greeted, tables are never sitting with dirty dIshes, drinks are always full and the food is consistently on point every time. THe other night I had butternut squash soup. Oh man... on that cold night, it was so freaking good. We also had a tuna flat bread the other night that was sooooooooooo Good. I honestly can't think of a single bad menu item. Came for my Mom's birthday and everything was great! My grandmother had the shrimp & grits and was so happy with her meal she looked like a kid in a candy shop eating it. :) My Dad is notoriously picky with his food but enjoyed the Tavern Burger and said he'd come back again - that means a lot coming from him! Our server was lovely, food was delicious, and service was quick. Next time we'll opt to sit outside and enjoy the weather on the patio. We want to come back and try their brunch. read more

Pretty good experience so far. Been there twice - one for take out and one dine in. The best dish so far is their double cheese burger with fries. Their crab cake is way too runny - too much mayonnaise. Kids pizza is not edible - who puts in crazy amounts of garlic and onions in their pizza sauce on a kids pizza? Not many. Will not be ordering that again - my daughter and her friend barely touched it. I wouldn't even eat it - gross. I'll come back and try more dishes. Hoping for more consistency. read more

I have been to several Marlow's in the area, but this one is the best so far. I had several ladies with me for brunch to celebrate my birthday. I did call ahead to make a reservation and when we arrived, they had everything perfectly set up for us. Our appetizers and drinks came out very fast and our meals were great. I highly recommend the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict! Destiny, Crystal and Tara were efficient, very friendly and attentive. Was there Saturday 3/16/19 - terrible service. Maybe 6 tables seated but had to flag down someone to take our order, then to refill drinks, then to get the check, and to have someone come get our card to process. Ordered the house tavern salad with salmon the first time I went to Marlowes. Salmon was cooked perfectly medium and salad was delicious. The second time I went I ordered the exact same salad. This time the salmon was way over cooked. It was like eating cardboard. But, I'll go back and try something different next time. The wait staff has been excellent both times. I really at times do not know what to think about this place so that's why I am going middle of the road. Every time I eat here it's never delicious but it's not bad. Almost like Cheesecake Factory but to me a notch lower. At CF you never have a bad meal but it's never anything to rave about to friends. I had the firecracker shrimp and it was just ok. I mean just ok. Then I had a side Cesar salad . You would think that it would be made with Romain lettuce . Nope it was made with Kale and some different type of dressing. Not a good taste or look. What saves them in my rating is the past Black and Blue salad drinks and service. The Truffled Parmesan Fries are average at best and for being fresh cut don't seem fresh or hot. I am never impressed when I go here so maybe I shouldn't expect more then I always get. This place is always puzzling and leaves me confused when I leave. With restaurants slowly opening for dine-in service, my wife and I stopped at Marlow's Tavern to support our local restaurants in the area. Patrons are asked to wait outside for the staff to coordinate a table seating area. Social distancing is strictly practiced. After ordering the shrimp and grits, my wife found out that the grits are deep fried as a cake, which exposed the grits to wheat and made it uneatable as my wife has a wheat allergy. Even though my wife protested that I could still eat what she could not eat, Molly, our waitress, brought out the Jalapeno Grits as a side order, which is gluten-free. Wonderful service! The combination of the Jalapeno Grits and shrimp were a great combination. I had the Pigs in a Bun, which was way more than I could eat in one sitting. The pulled pork and onion rings in a bun was moist from the BBQ sauce. The fries had just the right amount of salt and was cooked perfectly. This was my 2nd meal at this Marlow's Tavern, and the food and service have been outstanding. read more

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. The chicken in my barbecue chicken wrap was chewy and undercooked, and my husband's steak salad was so small it literally had 5 small pieces of steak on it. It's tavern food, and good enough, not particularly great. We have mixed reviews on the service. This was our first visit. My husband ordered their house Cabernet. It was as cold as my Chardonnay and tasted suspiciously like the wine had been opened the day before and refrigerated overnight. He told the waitress to take it back and she tried to tell us that all of their red wines were kept at wine cellar temperature which she translated as refrigerator cold. Just then the sous chef appeared with a surprise complimentary appetizer. Not a bad way to welcome new customers! The sous chef agreed that Cabernets should be kept at room temperature and told my husband he would take the bad, cold one back and replace it with a freshly opened bottle, which he did promptly. The waitress owed her generous tip to that sous chef. The free appetizer is something we would never order because it has way too much fat in it but I have to say it was pretty tasty so we risked our cholesterol and gobbled it up. The asparagus fries and dip are also very good. My flat bread was average as was my husband's sandwich, so tavern food (though they had other things on the menu that might've been better). The outside dining was relaxing and enjoyable enough. Not sure we would want to eat inside as the music was pretty loud. This location has offered restaurants before that didn't survive. I will probably be back and explore the menu a little more because it's nice to have something other than large chains in the 'burbs. read more

Not all Marlow's Taverns are created equal. I have always eaten at the one close to my office in Midtown and the service and food has always been very good. I decided to have dinner at the one close to my home. The service was slow and unresponsive and the same meal (Marlow's Melt) I have had dozens of times at the Midtown location did not look or taste anywhere close to the same. I spent a money on something that is prepared better at Steak and Shake. Very disappointing. read more

This is my first time reviewing a restaurant but I feel that I have to vent. This iwas our first time at this Marlows. It wasn't that busy when we arrived so there was no excuse for a bad meal. I ordered ja simple bacon cheeseburger medium well and my wife ordered a hamburger wrap medium well. When both dinners came I have never seen a more greasy hamburger at any price. My bun was soaking in grease and to add to the insult it came with no bacon. The tomato and onions were so soaked in grease that it not fit to eat. My wife's hamburger wrap was just as greasy. I had my dinner sent back. It was our one and only time at this restaurant. Don't waste you money. read more

My husband and I aren't sure why the ratings aren't higher for this restaurant. We have now been there 3 times and each time, every dish we've sampled, has been absolutely outstanding! Beyond that, the customer service is stellar. Even the chef comes out to check on your meal or seat people who are waiting. We've had the chicken stack, burger, fish tacos, prime rib french dip, chicken queso soup, truflled fries and the gorgonzola chip appetizer. All have been fabulous. I'm a huge fish taco fan and both myself and our friends thought these were the best fish tacos we've ever had. My husband, who is not a fish taco fan, loves these! Even the house salad, which is a side item, is a treat, as it has sweet potatoes, toasted pine nuts and a coriander lime dressing. If that all weren't enough, the prices are extremely reasonable. This is our new favorite restaurant in Roswell! We will return again and again! read more
